Poco is expanding its X8 series in India with two new phones, and one of them is clearly built for people who hate charging their phone multiple times a day. The Poco X8 Power leans hard into battery life, making it a practical pick for anyone who wants serious endurance.

The big story here is the battery. It packs a massive 10,000mAh silicon-carbon cell, one of the largest you’ll find on a mainstream phone, plus 100W HyperCharge for quick top-ups. It can even reverse-charge other devices at up to 27W over a wired connection. That huge battery does add some bulk though: the phone weighs 229g and measures 8.65mm thick. For comparison, the Poco X7 has a 5,500mAh battery, measures 8.4mm thick, and weighs 190g.

The display is a 6.83″ flat 1.5K AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and peak brightness up to 3,500 nits. It supports up to 3,200Hz instantaneous touch sampling in Game Turbo mode, Wet Touch 2.0, and TUV Triple Eye Protection, all under Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

Under the hood sits the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5, with up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB storage (base 128GB models use UFS 2.2, while higher ones get UFS 4.1). Other bits include a 32MP front camera, stereo speakers, and an in-display fingerprint sensor.

The phone carries IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for ingress protection. It runs Xiaomi HyperOS 3 based on Android 16, with four OS upgrades and six years of security patches promised.

Price and availability

The X8 Power is priced at Rs 35,999. With a Rs 2,000 coupon discount and a Rs 1,000 bank offer or exchange bonus, the effective price drops to Rs 32,999. It goes on sale from September 11, 2026, at 12 noon exclusively on Flipkart. You can also grab it on 12-month no-cost EMI starting at Rs 2,750 per month. The regular Poco X8 starts a bit lower and comes with similar EMI options.

The Poco F9 Ultra has now launched globally alongside the Poco F9 Pro, giving buyers another performance-focused flagship option with a large battery and high-end hardware. The F9 Ultra is aimed primarily at users who prioritize raw performance, gaming and battery endurance rather than camera capabilities alone.

It comes with top-notch specs, such as a 6.9-inch OLED 1.5K 185Hz screen, a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, and an 8,050mAh battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. For photography, it has a 200-megapixel + 8-megapixel (ultrawide) + 50-megapixel (3x periscope) setup and a 50-megapixel front camera. That focus makes some conventional flagship phones less relevant as alternatives. The closest hardware alternative to the Poco F9 Ultra.

The Redmi K100 Pro Max is a China-exclusive flagship that can still be purchased internationally through import retailers such as Giztop. It is particularly interesting here because it shares essentially the same core hardware as the Poco F9 Ultra.

Its 9,070mAh battery is actually larger than the Poco F9 Ultra’s 8,050mAh unit, giving the Redmi model an edge in raw battery capacity. The rest of the specs are the same on both devices.

The K100 Pro Max runs Xiaomi’s HyperOS based on Android. However, buyers importing it should consider software localization, network compatibility and after-sales support. For those who want similar hardware to the Poco F9 Ultra, it remains one of the most obvious alternatives.

Beyond these five, the Realme GT 8 Pro and Oppo Find X9 5G are also worth considering in the same broad category. Neither is as widely available in every market, but both offer a strong combination of flagship performance and capable cameras. They may therefore be better choices for users who want a more balanced flagship experience rather than prioritizing battery life and gaming above everything else.

Poco has introduced the Poco X8 globally, with the new phone focused on battery life, durability, and a high-resolution AMOLED display.

Poco X8 Specifications

The Poco X8 has a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution of 2772 x 1280 pixels. It supports a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. In Game Turbo mode, the phone can reach a claimed instantaneous touch sampling rate of 3,200Hz in supported situations.

The screen has a claimed peak brightness of 3,500 nits, while typical brightness is listed at 1,060 nits. It supports 12-bit color depth and the DCI-P3 color gamut. For eye comfort, the display includes DC dimming, 3,840Hz PWM dimming, and TÜV Rheinland certifications for low blue light, flicker-free operation, and circadian-friendly use. The front is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

Under the hood, the device is powered by the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, a 4nm chipset with an octa-core CPU reaching up to 2.4GHz. It comes with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The 256GB variants use faster UFS 3.1 storage, while the 128GB version uses UFS 2.2.

Poco has launched the F9 Pro globally alongside the F9 Ultra. The new model focuses on gaming, battery life, and display performance, while also introducing features such as wireless charging and a telephoto camera to the series.

Poco F9 Pro Specifications

It is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V Series (SM8850-1-AB) processor. The chip is built using a 3nm process and uses third-generation Qualcomm Oryon CPU cores, with a maximum clock speed of 4.6GHz. Poco is also including its VisionBoost D8 graphics chipset, which is designed to improve image quality and frame rates in supported games.

The VisionBoost system supports frame interpolation of up to 185 frames per second. It also includes features such as Game HDR and AI super resolution. These features are intended to make games look smoother and clearer, although the results will depend on the individual game and whether it supports the technology.

The phone uses a 3D IceLoop cooling system to manage heat during longer gaming sessions. The cooling system has a 26,000-square-millimeter heat dissipation area, a 5,200-square-millimeter liquid heat pipe area, and a large graphite layer. Poco says it can reduce SoC temperatures by up to 3 degrees Celsius under certain testing conditions. The device comes with 12GB of LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and is available with either 256GB or 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage.

The 6.59-inch AMOLED display has a 185Hz refresh rate and 2510 x 1156 resolution, supports 68 billion colors and DCI-P3, and reaches 4,500 nits in multi-scenario use and 10,000 nits peak with selected HDR content.

It also offers full-range DC dimming, 16,000 dimming levels, a 1-nit minimum brightness, and TÜV Rheinland certifications for flicker-free operation, hardware-level low blue light, intelligent eye care, and circadian-friendly viewing.

The F9 Pro has a 6,330mAh silicon-carbon battery. It supports 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. According to Poco, wired charging can take the battery to 50% in 19 minutes, while wireless charging reaches 50 percent in 35 minutes. The phone can also charge other devices at up to 27W through a cable or 22.5W wirelessly.

The rear camera system includes a 200-megapixel main camera with OIS, a 50-megapixel floating telephoto camera, and an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera. The telephoto camera has a 60mm equivalent focal length, 2.5x optical zoom, and a minimum focusing distance of 10 centimeters for close-up photography. For selfies, it includes a 32-megapixel lens.

The phone has symmetrical stereo speakers tuned with Bose. It offers Dynamic and Balanced sound profiles, with additional volume tuning intended to keep audio clear at different volume levels.

The F9 Pro is available in White and Aurora Green. The Aurora Green version has a rear panel that can glow after exposure to sunlight or indoor light. The phone also has an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.

Pricing and Availability

The 12GB/256GB model costs $699, while the 12GB/512GB version is priced at $769. In select markets, Poco is offering benefits including trials of Spotify Premium, YouTube Premium, and Google AI Pro.

Poco has launched the F9 Ultra globally, introducing a high-end phone with a large battery, a high-refresh-rate display, and a camera system that includes a periscope telephoto lens.

Poco F9 Ultra Specifications

The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, which is built using a 3nm process. Its CPU includes two prime cores running at up to 4.6GHz and six performance cores reaching 3.62GHz. Poco has also added its VisionBoost D8 chipset to handle features such as image enhancement, frame interpolation, and Game HDR in supported games.

The F9 Ultra is available with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. It comes in three configurations: 12GB of RAM with 256GB of storage, 16GB with 512GB, or 16GB with 1TB.

Poco is focusing heavily on gaming with this model. The phone uses a 3D IceLoop cooling system, along with a large graphite layer, to help control heat during extended use. Its WildBoost Engine can adjust performance and power consumption depending on the game. The display supports refresh rates of up to 185Hz, and Poco says more than 20 games can make use of frame rates up to 185fps.

The 6.9-inch AMOLED screen has a 2608 x 1200 resolution, 12-bit color, Dolby Vision, HDR10 Plus, and a DCI-P3 wide color gamut. It can reach a claimed peak brightness of 10,000 nits in limited HDR areas, although typical brightness is rated at 850 nits. The screen also supports up to 4,800Hz instant touch sampling in Game Turbo mode, but this feature is limited to compatible games and software settings.

On the back, the F9 Ultra has a 200-megapixel main camera with OIS, a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera, and a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera. The telephoto lens offers 5x optical zoom and has a 120mm-equivalent focal length. It can also be used for close-up photography from around 30cm. The rear camera supports 8K video at 30fps and 4K recording at up to 60fps. For selfies, it features a 32-megapixel camera that can record in 4K.

The 8,050mAh battery supports 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. Poco says wired charging can take the battery to full in around 50 minutes, while wireless charging can reach 50% in approximately 37 minutes. The phone can also charge other devices at up to 27W through a cable or 22.5W wirelessly. The charger is sold separately.

The phone also includes Bose-tuned stereo speakers with a separate subwoofer, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, an IR blaster, USB 3.2 Gen 1, an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, and IP68-rated dust and water resistance.

The Poco F9 Ultra is available in Black and Dark Cherry. Prices start at $799 for the 12GB/256GB model, while the 16GB/512GB version costs $949. The 16GB/1TB model is priced at $1,199.

The word “Power” means something different on the Poco M8 Power. Instead of chasing benchmark scores or adding high-end hardware, Poco has taken a simpler route: put an 8,000mAh battery inside the phone and build the rest of the experience around it. That gives the M8 Power one of the biggest batteries you can get in this segment, along with a large 6.99-inch AMOLED display and a surprisingly long software support commitment.

The trade-offs become apparent elsewhere. The Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 is firmly an entry-level chipset, charging is not particularly fast for a battery this large, the cameras are merely adequate, and there is only a single speaker. After spending time with the Blaze Orange version, the M8 Power comes across as a phone that knows exactly what it wants to be — but whether that makes it a good buy depends heavily on your priorities.

The Blaze Orange finish makes the M8 Power stand out

The Poco M8 Power’s Blaze Orange variant is easily the most attention-grabbing of the three color options. The large camera island adds to that effect, although the overall design remains fairly straightforward. The rear panel and frame are plastic, but the phone doesn’t feel cheap or poorly assembled. The matte finish also does a good job of keeping fingerprints under control.

At 8.45mm thick and 225 grams, the M8 Power is neither small nor light. The weight is noticeable, particularly during prolonged one-handed use, although the distribution is good enough that it doesn’t feel excessively top-heavy. The flat frame also provides a secure grip.

The large dimensions can take some getting used to. Reaching the upper part of the display requires some hand movement, and the phone’s size is something smaller-phone users will notice immediately.

The power and volume buttons sit on the right, while the bottom houses the USB-C port, primary microphone and speaker. An IR blaster is located at the top, and the phone carries an IP65 rating along with Gorilla Glass 7i protection.

For a phone built around an 8,000mAh cell, keeping the thickness below 8.5mm is a reasonable achievement.

The AMOLED display is arguably the M8 Power’s second-biggest strength

The 6.99-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel is one of the more appealing parts of the M8 Power. The 120Hz refresh rate makes scrolling and everyday navigation feel smooth, while the AMOLED panel delivers deep blacks and punchy colors.

The display can reach up to 1,800 nits of peak brightness, and outdoor visibility is generally good. The 120Hz mode can switch between 60Hz, 90Hz and 120Hz, while touch sampling reaches 240Hz normally and can go as high as 2,160Hz in Game Turbo mode.

Poco also includes 960Hz PWM dimming, eye-care certification, DCI-P3 coverage, Wet Touch 2.0 and Sunlight Display. One useful inclusion is the option for DC dimming, particularly for users who are sensitive to PWM flicker.

There are some obvious limitations. HDR playback isn’t supported, and the chipset also limits video playback to below 4K. For regular streaming, however, Widevine L1 certification means services such as Netflix and Prime Video can still be enjoyed in Full HD.

The biggest disappointment for multimedia is the audio. The phone has only a single bottom-firing speaker. It gets sufficiently loud, but the lack of stereo separation is noticeable when watching videos or playing games.

Performance is where the battery-first approach becomes obvious

The Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 is the clearest indication that Poco wasn’t trying to make the M8 Power a performance phone. The 4nm chipset handles messaging, social media, browsing and streaming without major problems, but it doesn’t have much headroom once workloads become demanding.

The 8GB RAM configuration helps with everyday multitasking, although heavier usage can result in apps and browser tabs being reloaded. There can also be occasional UI stutters, which makes the phone feel less consistently smooth than its 120Hz display initially suggests.

Gaming is possible, but expectations need to be realistic. Lightweight games run comfortably, while BGMI and Call of Duty: Mobile are better suited to lower graphics settings. More demanding titles such as Genshin Impact are outside the phone’s comfort zone.

The good news is thermals. The 10,416mm² graphite cooling system does a good job of keeping temperatures under control, and the phone doesn’t become uncomfortably hot during normal gaming or sustained everyday use.

In other words, the M8 Power is perfectly usable, but performance isn’t the reason to buy it.

The 8,000mAh battery is exactly what the name promises

This is where the M8 Power earns its name. The 8,000mAh silicon-carbon battery is enormous for a phone of this class, and it translates into genuinely strong endurance.

Depending on usage, the phone can comfortably last beyond a full day of heavy use, while lighter users can stretch it to two days or potentially more. Around 8–10 hours of screen-on time is realistic under mixed usage, making battery anxiety almost a non-issue.

The compromise is charging. The included 45W charger takes roughly two hours to fill the battery completely. That’s understandable given the capacity, but it still feels slow when faster charging systems are becoming increasingly common.

The 22.5W reverse wired charging support is a useful bonus, allowing the M8 Power to act as a large power bank for other devices.

HyperOS 3 brings long-term value, despite some rough edges

The M8 Power ships with Android 16 and HyperOS 3, and Poco’s update promise is unusually strong for this price segment: four years of OS updates and six years of security updates.

The software itself offers plenty of customization, AI editing tools, Circle to Search, Gemini, HyperIsland and Xiaomi’s ecosystem features. The IR blaster also works through Mi Remote, which remains a useful addition.

There is, however, some bloatware. Several third-party apps and games come pre-installed, while setup also pushes additional app recommendations. Most of these can be removed, but the overall experience would feel cleaner with less bundled software.

Performance inconsistencies also extend to the interface, with occasional stutters during navigation. These aren’t severe enough to make the phone frustrating to use, but they are noticeable.

The cameras are functional rather than impressive

The M8 Power uses a 50-megapixel primary rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera. The hardware is fairly basic, and the results reflect that.

In daylight, the main camera can produce perfectly usable photographs with decent colors and dynamic range. There is enough detail for casual photography and social media, although the processing isn’t always consistent.

Low-light photography is where the limitations become more obvious. Details soften, noise becomes more visible and exposure can vary between scenes. Portrait shots are also not particularly reliable, especially around complicated edges.

Poco has officially shared the global launch date for its new Poco F9 series. The phone that has been leaking for months will now launch globally on September 1.

The two phones are rebranded versions of the Redmi K100 Pro and Redmi K100 Pro Max, which already launched in China. Both are expected to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, including the gaming-focused V-series variant that debuted on the Chinese models.  

Luckily for us, a previous report has already revealed the specs of both phones along with the price.

Poco F9 Pro / F9 Ultra Specifications

The Poco F9 Pro is expected to feature a 6.59-inch QHD+ Plastic OLED display with a 185Hz refresh rate, while the F9 Ultra could get a larger 6.85-inch 2608 × 1200 panel. Both displays are reportedly developed with TCL CSOT, with Xiaomi contributing to the design and materials.

Both phones are tipped to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, with up to 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. The F9 Pro could pack a 6,330mAh battery, while the F9 Ultra may get an 8,050mAh cell. Both are expected to support 100W wired charging and USB PD.

A new leak from WinFuture.de has revealed the full specifications and official renders of both phones ahead of their launch. As expected, they will arrive as tweaked versions of the Redmi K100 Pro and K100 Pro Max, which recently debuted in China.

In comparison, the Redmi K100 Pro Max has a 9,070mAh battery, whereas the K100 Pro features an 8,580mAh battery. While there is a major change in the battery department, there is no change in charging capabilities, as the Poco models support 100W charging like their Redmi siblings.

The tipster did not specify the other specifications of the Poco F9 Ultra and F9 Pro, but they are expected to remain identical to those of the Redmi models.

Xiaomi’s subsidiary Poco today announced its new Poco M8 Power smartphone in India. It is a big-battery phone with 8000mAh capacity that Poco claims delivers up to three days of power.  

You’d expect an 8,000mAh cell to make a phone feel like a brick, but Poco has kept things surprisingly trim here. The back panel is plastic, with a wide camera bar running across the width of the phone that houses two circular cutouts for the camera and flash, plus the Poco logo. Despite all that battery inside, the phone comes in at just over 8.4mm thick and weighs around 220 grams.

Poco M8 Power Specifications 

Up front, you get a 6.9-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel running at 120Hz, with peak brightness hitting 1,800 nits and 960Hz PWM dimming to ease eye strain in low light. 

Poco also claims the screen covers the full DCI-P3 colour range. Gorilla Glass 7i sits on top, and the phone carries IP65 protection against dust and light splashes. 

Inside, you get a Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chip paired with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. You get 45W wired charging support, and the phone can even reverse-charge other gadgets at 22.5W.

On the back, you’re getting a 50MP main camera, while an 8MP shooter handles selfies. Both cap out at 1080p video. Software-wise, the phone ships on HyperOS 3 over Android 16, and Poco is promising four years of OS updates and six years of security patches. You also get an IR blaster and AI tools like Circle to Search along for the ride.

Price and availability

The Poco M8 Power starts at Rs 24,999 for the 6GB/128GB variant, while the 8GB/128GB model costs Rs 27,999. Poco is also throwing in bank offers worth Rs 3,000 on top to sweeten the deal. Sales kick off on August 7, 2026, exclusively through Flipkart.

As per the Flipkart page, the Poco M8 Power has a 6.9-inch AMOLED panel that offers an FHD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and an in-screen fingerprint sensor. It also offers a 240Hz touch sampling rate, 1,800 nits of peak brightness, and 1,200 nits in HBM mode.

The phone will ship with HyperOS 3-based Android 16. The microsite confirms that the phone will receive four years of Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates.

The M8 Power draws power from a massive 8,000mAh battery and the Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset, which is paired with LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. The phone supports 45W charging and 22.5W reverse charging.

For photography, the M8 Power has a 50-megapixel OmniVision Light Fusion 400 sensor on the back and an 8-megapixel front camera. When it comes to durability, the phone features Gorilla Glass 7i protection on the front and carries an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance. Despite featuring a big battery, the phone measures only 8.45mm in thickness.

On the front, the M8 Power features an AMOLED display, although the screen size and other display specifications have not been confirmed yet. The teaser also confirms that the phone will be available in an orange color option. It features a raised camera module with the camera sensors and LED flash on the left, while the microphone, “50MP AI Camera” branding, and Poco logo are positioned on the right. Poco is reportedly working on the Poco F9 series of smartphones. According to a report by XimiTime, two F9 series devices have emerged in the GSMA IMEI database, revealing their model numbers and monikers. At the same time, these devices have also received certifications in multiple countries, indicating that their global launch could be fast approaching.

Poco F9 Ultra, Poco F9 Pro global launch may be near

The GSMA IMEI database listings reveal that the upcoming Poco F9 Pro carries the model number 2607APCA5G, while the Poco F9 Ultra has the model number 26077PC53G. These devices are expected to launch globally, including in the EEA, Turkey, Indonesia, Taiwan, Russia, and Japan. While India is a major market for Poco, it is unlikely to receive the F9 Pro and F9 Ultra.

Apart from surfacing in the IMEI database, both devices have also appeared on Indonesia’s SDPPI and Singapore’s IMDA certification platforms. This is earlier than expected, considering that the Poco F8 Ultra and F8 Pro were spotted on IMDA and Thailand’s NBTC certification platform in October before going official in November.

The Redmi K100 series is expected to debut in China in August. Since the Poco F9 Pro and F9 Ultra are expected to be based on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5-powered Redmi K100 series, the F9 lineup could break cover globally as early as October.

A recent report revealed that the global version of the Vivo X500 has appeared in the GSMA IMEI database. More recently, the Vivo X500 Pro Max was approved by Indonesia’s TKDN certification platform, and now the Vivo X500 has also surfaced in the same database. In addition, the X500, carrying the model number V2610, has appeared on Indonesia’s SDPPI certification platform.

For those unaware, the TKDN certification measures the percentage of locally sourced Indonesian components in a product, while the SDPPI certification confirms that a device complies with Indonesia’s telecommunications and radio equipment standards before it can be sold in the country.

As usual, none of these certifications reveal any specifications. However, since the global Vivo X500 models have already started appearing on certification platforms, it appears that their global launch could take place around a month after the China debut, which is expected in September.

Rumors have been circulating for some time that Poco is preparing to add another smartphone to its X8 family. While the lineup already includes the Poco X8 Pro and Poco X8 Pro Max, speculation suggested that a standard Poco X8 was also in development. That possibility has now gained credibility after the handset surfaced on a well-known certification platform.

Poco X8 moniker confirmed

Thailand’s NBTC and Singapore’s IMDA authorities have certified a new Poco smartphone carrying the model number 2607DPC18G. The NBTC listing confirms that the device will be marketed as the Poco X8.

Apart from identifying it as a 5G handset, the certification does not disclose any hardware details. On the other hand, the IMDA listing reveals few more details like support connectivity features, such as NFC, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi.

Poco X8 specifications (expected)

A recent report revealed that the Poco X8 could be a rebadged version of the Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G, which recently went official in China. Therefore, the Poco X8 5G may feature a 6.83-inch OLED display with a 1.5K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, 3840Hz high-frequency PWM dimming and up to 3200 nits of peak brightness. It may house a 9,000mAh battery with 67W fast charging support.

Under the hood, the X8 could feature the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chip, coupled with LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. The device could feature a 50-megapixel primary camera, a 2-megapixel depth sensor, and an 8-megapixel selfie camera. It may come with other features, such as an in-display fingerprint sensor, dual speakers, and an IP66/68/69/69K-rated body.

Apart from the Poco X8, the brand is gearing up to launch the Poco M8 Power. The brand has already started teasing this device, and is expected to launch either by the end of this month or early August.

The new leak not only revives the X8 but also reveals a key detail about it.

Poco X8’s key details emerge

The tipster found details about the upcoming Poco X8 in HyperOS code, revealing that it will feature a 50-megapixel main camera and a 2-megapixel auxiliary lens. This is because the device is expected to be a rebranded version of China’s Redmi Note 17 Pro, which features the same rear camera setup.

The Redmi Note 17 Pro is currently exclusive to the Chinese market. However, it is expected to launch globally in the coming days. The Indian variant is said to retain the 9,000mAh battery found in the Chinese model, while the global version is expected to feature a slightly smaller 8,340mAh battery.

The tipster neither revealed whether the Poco X8 will have separate global and Indian variants nor commented on its other specifications. If there are different variants, the Indian edition may pack a 9,000mAh battery, while the global variant could feature an 8,340mAh unit.

A new leak, courtesy of tipster Kacper Skrzypek, reveals some new details for the overseas market.

Poco M8 Power, global Redmi Note 17 series details emerge

Scouring through the HyperOS code, the tipster claims that a forthcoming Poco phone for the Indian market with model number 2602IPC8I will be called the Poco M8 Power. This device already appeared in the BIS certification database in May. The phone also has a Redmi variant for the Indian market with model number 26021RN18I.

The tipster claims that China’s Redmi Note 17 could be rebranded as the Poco M8 Power. It also appears that there may not be a global version of this Poco device.

The Redmi Note 17 for global markets and India is said to feature the same specifications as the Chinese Note 17. However, there will be differences in battery capacity. While the Indian edition is expected to retain the same 8,000mAh battery as the Chinese model, the global version is said to feature a smaller 7,700mAh battery.

Apart from that, the global version of the Redmi Note 17 Pro is tipped to feature an 8,340mAh battery. While the Chinese edition packs a 9,000mAh battery, the Indian variant is also expected to retain the same battery capacity, according to the tipster.

Poco M8 Power, Redmi Note 17 5G specifications (expected)

After using it as my daily driver, it’s evident that this focus works—but it also comes with some noticeable trade-offs.

Design and usability: Solid, practical, slightly bulky

The design is clean and modern without being particularly distinctive. The flat frame and curved corners give it a familiar feel, and the overall finish is understated. The RGB lighting around the camera module adds a bit of personality, though in day-to-day use, it feels more like a novelty than a functional feature.

Out of the box, the color profile leans toward a more saturated look. I switched to a more natural setting, which made the display feel more balanced for regular use. It’s a minor adjustment, but one worth making depending on your preference.

For gaming, the display holds up well with responsive touch input and consistent performance. It’s not just impressive on paper—it translates into a reliable real-world experience.

Performance: Where the phone truly shines

Performance is the defining strength of the Poco X8 Pro Max. The Dimensity 9500s chipset may sit just below top-tier flagship processors, but in practical use, the difference is difficult to notice. This review unit has 12GB of LPDDR5x and 256GB of UFS 4.1 storage.

Day-to-day tasks feel fast and fluid. Apps open quickly, multitasking is smooth, and there’s enough headroom to handle heavy workloads without slowing down.

Gaming performance is particularly impressive. I spent time playing titles like BGMI and Genshin Impact, and the phone maintained stable frame rates even during extended sessions. What stood out most wasn’t just peak performance, but how well it sustained that performance over time.

Thermals are managed reasonably well. The phone does get warm during long gaming sessions, but it doesn’t throttle aggressively or cause noticeable stutters. Instead, performance drops gradually, which makes the experience feel more consistent.

The benchmark results suggest that the Poco X8 Pro Max could deliver flagship-grade performance, backed by an impressive AnTuTu score of 2.71 million and strong Geekbench 6 scores of 2,588 in single-core and 8,289 in multi-core tests. These numbers indicate excellent processing power for gaming, multitasking, and demanding AI-driven tasks. Meanwhile, the CPU throttling test shows the device retaining around 84% of its peak performance under sustained load, suggesting decent thermal management and stable performance during extended gaming sessions.

Camera: Capable, but not a priority

The camera system reflects the phone’s overall philosophy—functional, but not the main focus.

The 50MP main camera performs well in good lighting conditions. Photos have strong contrast, vibrant colors, and good detail. However, the processing can be a bit aggressive, especially with saturation, which sometimes affects color accuracy.

The 2x zoom, achieved through cropping, is surprisingly usable. It retains a decent amount of detail and works well for portraits and close-up shots.

In low light, the main camera still delivers usable results, though the images show signs of heavy processing. Noise reduction and sharpening are quite noticeable, but the overall output remains acceptable for the price range.

The ultrawide camera is the weakest link. It’s fine for occasional use in good lighting but lacks detail and consistency, especially in low-light scenarios.

Selfies are decent, with a wider field of view that’s genuinely useful, but they don’t stand out in terms of detail or accuracy.

Battery life is easily one of the biggest highlights of the Poco X8 Pro Max. With a massive capacity that goes up to 9,000mAh in some regions, this phone delivers exceptional endurance.

In my usage, which included gaming, streaming, and regular social media activity, the phone comfortably lasted a full day with plenty of charge remaining. With lighter usage, stretching it to two days is entirely realistic.

Charging such a large battery could have been a drawback, but the 100W fast charging keeps things practical. A full charge takes just over an hour, which feels reasonable given the battery size.

The addition of reverse charging is also useful. I ended up using the phone to charge smaller devices, effectively turning it into a backup power source when needed.

Software: Feature-rich, but not the cleanest

The Poco X8 Pro Max runs HyperOS 3 based on Android 16. The feature set is extensive, with customization options, AI tools, and improved ecosystem connectivity.

However, the experience isn’t as polished as it could be. The interface can feel cluttered, especially with the number of pre-installed apps and system notifications. It takes some effort to clean things up and make the experience feel streamlined.

Performance is generally smooth, but I did encounter occasional stutters and minor inconsistencies. Nothing major, but enough to notice.

This remains one of Poco’s weaker areas, particularly when compared to competitors that offer a cleaner and more refined software experience.

Final verdict: Powerful, but focused

The Poco X8 Pro Max is not trying to be everything for everyone, and that’s clear from the moment you start using it.

It excels in performance, offers excellent sustained gaming capabilities, and delivers some of the best battery life in its segment. These strengths make it a compelling choice for users who prioritize power and endurance.

At the same time, the compromises are equally clear. The camera system is average, and the software experience lacks polish.

If your priorities are gaming, performance, and long battery life, the Poco X8 Pro Max is easy to recommend. However, if you’re looking for a more balanced device with better cameras and cleaner software, you might want to consider alternatives.

Personally, I see this as a specialist device rather than a true all-rounder. It does a few things exceptionally well—and if those align with your needs, it’s absolutely worth the price. It is priced at Rs 42,999 (~450) for the 12GB+256GB variant and Rs 46,999 (~$500) for the 12GB+512GB edition.

POCO is set to launch two new budget 4G smartphones in India on April 23, the POCO C81 and POCO C81X. These devices will replace the POCO C71 and focus largely on battery life and basic day-to-day performance.

The POCO C81 will come with a 6300mAh battery, which is 20 percent larger than the 5200mAh unit used in the previous model. Even with the bigger battery, POCO says the phone keeps a similar slim design. The company also claims the battery can hold up to 80 percent of its capacity after 1000 charging cycles. There is also a cold endurance mode that is meant to keep the phone running smoothly in low temperature conditions.

Charging support includes 15W wired charging with a charger included in the box. The phone also supports 7.5W reverse wired charging, so it can charge other devices when needed. Based on official teasers, the device will feature a 13MP rear camera.

In terms of hardware, the C81 is expected to have a 6.9-inch HD+ LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It is likely to run on the UNISOC T7250 chipset and ship with Android 16 along with Xiaomi HyperOS 3. The focus here is clearly on offering longer usage time for common tasks like messaging, social media, and video streaming.

The POCO C81X will be a slightly more basic version. It will have a 5200mAh battery, but it will still keep the same charging setup with 15W wired charging and 7.5W reverse charging. It is also rated for 80 percent battery health after 1000 charging cycles. Software-level optimizations for managing background apps are expected here as well.

Both phones will be available on Flipkart after launch. More details, including pricing, will be shared at the official announcement.

The phone runs on the Unisoc T7250, which is more suited for lighter tasks. Think browsing, messaging, online payments, and social media. Connectivity is limited to 4G, which might be a drawback for some users. RAM is listed at 4GB, with storage options going up to 256GB, plus microSD support.

Cameras are about what you’d expect here. A 13MP main sensor on the back and an 8MP front camera. No extra lenses or fancy tricks, just the basics.

Battery is where it stands out a bit. There’s a 6000mAh unit, which should comfortably last a full day, maybe longer depending on usage. Charging is limited to 15W, so it won’t be particularly quick to top up.

Other features include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, dual SIM support, and likely a lightweight version of HyperOS, possibly based on Android Go. The overall idea is pretty clear. This is meant to be an affordable phone that handles everyday tasks without much trouble.

The listing has already been removed, so nothing is official just yet. That said, the specs suggest it could be a rebranded Redmi A7 Pro 4G, which launched globally earlier this month.
