However, neither Lei Jun nor Xiaomi is yet to release an exact date for the launch event. That means we’ll keep on feeding off speculations and rumors until something official pops up.

However, there is a new Weibo post which tips us on the likely date for the Mi 6 launch event. Don’t go jumping for joy yet, the post did not give a specific date in April but hinted that the Mi 6 would be launched in the later part of the month, slightly earlier than expected. The tipster also hinted that the Mi 6 is expected to have 50,000 units available in the first week and subsequently, production would climb gradually.

As for the price, the Weibo user revealed that the Mi 6 price will likely be higher than in the past. The Mi 6 was expected to start at 1999 Yuan(~$290) but the analyst says the cost price is around $300 when the production cost and cost of the chipset are factored in. So, it may likely be higher than $300 and this would be for the initial batch of a few hundred thousand units.

In spite of all these new releases, the most anticipated launch is still that of the Xiaomi Mi 6 and it seems we might already have a date for it.

An undisclosed source has revealed that Xiaomi’s next flagship will be released next month with the date likely to be April 16. The source also says the Mi 6 will still be the first domestic smartphone sporting the Snapdragon 835 chipset.

Another important detail revealed is that the Snapdragon 835 will not be under-clocked on the Mi 6. Fans of the brand will know Xiaomi is fond of releasing one flagship variant with an under-clocked processor. This will definitely come as good news to them.

The source also mentioned that the Xiaomi Mi 6 will have a 5.2-inch LCD display with a 2.5D glass and a ceramic body variant. It will also have a camera similar to that of Sony’s new Xperia XZ Premium.

For pricing, it has been revealed that Xiaomi will keep to the ¥1999 (~$290) price tag. There will be three variants: a 4GB RAM + 32GB ROM variant; a 4GB RAM+64GB variant; and a 6GB RAM + 128GB variant with a ceramic body whose price should not be more than ¥2500 (~$362).

The latest rumor making the rounds is that the Xiaomi Mi 6 would be released in mid-March. The smartphone is also rumored to enter trial production next month.

Further, earlier rumors from China had suggested that the Mi 6 would have two versions in the aspect of processor. Before now, we had gotten rumors that the device will be the first Snapdragon 835-powered Chinese brand smartphone but now, it is said that there will be a second version with a MediaTek Helio X30 chip crammed inside. This is a rumor that we cannot confirm, because it is not the practice of Xiaomi to use a MediaTek chip on its flagship Mi series. Only the Redmi series had the tradition of featuring both Snapdragon and MTK chipsets.

Apart from the chip model, both the SD 835 and Helio X30-powered versions as rumored, also have certain marked features that differentiate them from one another, according to the leaked info. Some of the rumored features include that the Snapdragon 835-powered Mi 6 version would have two memory versions both using OLED panels and having 2K resolution. There is a 6GB +256GB version as well as a 4GB + 128GB version. On the other hand, the Helio X30-powered version comes in a 4GB + 64GB memory version. The base price of 1,999 yuan ($291) is also rumored to still be intact, while the higher versions are rumored with 2,499 yuan ($363) and 2,999 yuan ($436) price tags respectively.

Also, the Mi 6 flagship is still rumored to use the underglass ultrasonic scanner that made its debut on the Mi 5S and run Android 7.0 Nougat. In addition, the Mi 6 flagship is said to have an upgrade in its camera to a 12MP Sony IMX362 sensor. The display is also said to have two versions; one is a straight or flat screen display, while the other is a curved display but both having different prices.

The VP hinted that his company will release a surprise in March this year. Though he left off short of naming the surprise product, it is likely he was talking about the Mi 6.

The Xiaomi Mi 6 is expected to bring in some surprises in its specs lineup, according to previous rumors. The Xioami VP also seem to suggest that even the price would follow the Xiaomi tradition, which pitches it in the region of 1,999 yuan. Now, more details about the Mi 6 have been leaked online, stating among other things that the device will have a metal body, will continue the Underglass Ultrasonic fingerprint sensor featured on the Mi 5S. The source also hinted that because production of the smartphone has not been concluded, a February release is likely not feasible.

Read More: Xiaomi Mi 6 Benchmark Score Leaks, So Fast & Furious!

In addition, the Mi 6 flagship is said to have an upgrade in its camera but the new sensor model is not yet disclosed. It is however said to be far better than the Sony IMX378 sensor. The display is also said to have two versions; one is a straight or flat screen display, while the other is a curved display. While the straight screen version will be priced around 1999 yuan, the curved screen version will fall around 2499 yuan. Another gladsome news, and it better be true, is that there will be adequate supply of the device when it launches.

Furthermore, the Xiaomi Mi 6 is said to come equipped with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset which would be backed by 4GB of RAM on the straight screen version and 6GB of RAM on the curved screen verson. Both versions will cram 3,000mAh battery under the hood and would run Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. There is also two storage versions of 128Gb and 256GB respectively.

The device would likely be Xiaomi’s first flagship for the year. However, the launch date for the Xiaomi Mi 6 have always been a hot topic, with rumors making the rounds that the device would be launched in February, ahead of the Galaxy S8.

To this end, industry analyst Kevin Wang had hinted earlier on that the Mi 6 will enter test production in small batches. The Mi 6 was enmeshed in the 10nm Samsung process’ delay in production but another well-known analyst @Sun Changxy had assured that the Snapdragon 835 manufacturing was going on smoothly, so the Mi 6 could be mass produced ahead of its launch without the 10nm chip posing a logjam.

See Also: Xiaomi Mi Note 2 Gets Three New Colors: Pink, Green & Purple

Now, it has emerged that the Xiaomi Mi 6 has entered mass production and that Xiaomi has started mass producing two versions, one with LCD display and another, apparently the curved version, with OLED display. According to the leaked information, Xiaomi is still maintaining the 1,999 yuan price for the LCD version while the OLED version is still pegged at 2,499 yuan.

As revealed on previous rumors, the OLED version is likely having a curved screen and is said to look like a sized-down version of the Mi Note 2. The Xiaomi Mi 6 is also expected to continue with the underglass Ultrasonic fingerprint sensor first featured on the Mi 5S. The device is also expected with an all-metal body. Other leaked specs include the presence of two RAM versions of 4GB and 6GB respectively. The device is also tipped to feature a 20MP main camera and cram a 4,000mAh built with Qualcomm Quick Charge fast charging support.
