The brand first launched its products officially in the region<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/10/28/xiaomi-set-storm-western-europe-launching-spain-november-7/"> in November 2017 with a launch event in Spain</a>. But the company seems to have gained some traction in Western Europe and recently, Xiaomi&#8217;s CFO <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/01/22/xiaomi-cfo-chew-shou-zhi-details-emphasis-on-western-europe-expansion/">revealed plans to expand</a> in the region.</p>
<figure id="attachment_263233" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-263233" style="width: 750px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/IMG_2582.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-263233" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/IMG_2582.jpg?x44794" alt="xiaomi logo" width="750" height="525" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/IMG_2582.jpg 750w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/IMG_2582-300x210.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/IMG_2582-100x70.jpg 100w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/IMG_2582-696x487.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/IMG_2582-600x420.jpg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-263233" class="wp-caption-text">A Xiaomi Store in China</figcaption></figure>
<p>A market analytics report by Strategy Analytics has indeed confirmed Xiaomi&#8217;s rise in Western Europe. The report claims the Chinese company is now firmly established as the fourth-largest smartphone vendor in the region, only behind the likes of Samsung, Apple and Huawei. This is despite having zero presence there just 2.5 years ago.</p>
<p>Xiaomi&#8217;s rise is attributed to the continuous collaboration with local operators, resulting in huge gains across Western Europe. Much of that growth was achieved at the expense of Huawei, which continues to shrink in the region following the US ban.</p>
<p>Xiaomi’s total global smartphone shipments remained flat annually in Q1 2020. Despite the lack of growth, the company performed much better than the overall smartphone market, which declined -17% YoY in Q1 2020. Xiaomi’s global market share by volume thus increased to all-time high of 10%.</p>
<p>&#8220;In an extremely challenging environment, due to the COVID-19 crisis, which affected the industry both on the demand and supply side, Xiaomi was affected to a lesser extent than the other big Chinese brands (Huawei, Oppo, vivo), because of its more diverse geographical footprint and online channel distribution approach&#8221;, the report states.</p>

<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-275993" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Mi-9-Lite-launch-date.jpg?x44794" alt="Mi 9 Lite launch date" width="1200" height="600" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Mi-9-Lite-launch-date.jpg 1200w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Mi-9-Lite-launch-date-300x150.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Mi-9-Lite-launch-date-768x384.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Mi-9-Lite-launch-date-1024x512.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Mi-9-Lite-launch-date-696x348.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Mi-9-Lite-launch-date-1068x534.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Mi-9-Lite-launch-date-840x420.jpg 840w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></p>
<p>Before the announcement of the launch date, the device was already c<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/09/08/xiaomi-cc9-variant-gets-certified-as-mi-9-lite-by-thailands-nbtc/">ertified by Thailand&#8217;s NBTC</a> last week. The certification revealed that the Mi 9 Lite shared a similar model number to the Mi CC9 sold in China.</p>
<p>Prior to that, a list of Google&#8217;s certified Android devices was the first to reveal that there is an upcoming device called the Mi 9 Lite and it has the same codename as the Mi CC9.</p>
<p>The Mi 9 Lite will have a 32MP selfie camera and a 48MP triple rear camera configuration. Other features include a 6.39-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 710 processor, 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of expandable storage. It will also have an 8MP ultrawide angle camera and a 2MP depth sensor on the back.</p>
<p>The phone will also have an in-display fingerprint scanner, NFC, an audio jack, and an FM radio. The Mi 9 Lite will pack a 4030mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging and will have Gorilla Glass 5 covering its display and its back. It will run Android 9 Pie out of the box</p>

<p>The Chinese company took the art piece and placed its products in the image to promote them. The images appear on the company&#8217;s Spanish website. Peter Tarka said that he created it in May 2018 as part of his Installations collection.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-259832 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/xiaomi-spain-artwork-copy.jpg?x44794" alt="Xiaomi Spain Artwork Copy" width="1031" height="638" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/xiaomi-spain-artwork-copy.jpg 1031w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/xiaomi-spain-artwork-copy-300x186.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/xiaomi-spain-artwork-copy-768x475.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/xiaomi-spain-artwork-copy-1024x634.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/xiaomi-spain-artwork-copy-356x220.jpg 356w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/xiaomi-spain-artwork-copy-696x431.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/xiaomi-spain-artwork-copy-679x420.jpg 679w" sizes="(max-width: 1031px) 100vw, 1031px" /></p>
<p>From the images, it looks like Xiaomi’s artists barely changed a thing — simply swapping out the ramps and balls for renders of the company’s products. The company also used two of his other works, which he was commissioned by Korean electronics giant <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/lg">LG</a>, one of Xiaomi’s competitors.</p>
<p>Peter Tarka says that no one from Xiaomi ever reached out about licensing or commissioning his art. He told <em>The Verge </em>“I’m 100 percent sure they’ve used my pieces cause everything matches perfectly, they only changed the saturation and retouched [a] few elements to not make it so obvious.”</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400"><div class="su-note" style="border-color:#e5e5e5;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;"><div class="su-note-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim" style="background-color:#ffffff;border-color:#ffffff;color:#333333;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;"></span><strong><span style="color: #ff0000">Editor&#8217;s Pick:</span> <a title="Xiaomi aims to take over the Chinese market in Three Years: CEO" href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/06/18/xiaomi-aims-to-take-over-the-chinese-market-in-three-years-ceo/" rel="bookmark">Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun says that the company aims to take over the Chinese market in the coming three years</a></strong><b></b><span style="font-weight: 400"></div></div></span></p>
<p>Using someone&#8217;s work without giving them proper credit is not acceptable and certainly not from such as a big company. So far, the Chinese technology company as not addressed this issue and it remains to be seen how this one plays out.</p>
<p>Currently, the company is gearing up to launch its Redmi K20 and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-k20-pro/">Redmi K20 Pro</a> smartphones outside China. It recently launched the Mi 9T, the re-branded model of the Redmi K20, in Europe and is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/06/15/xiaomi-mi-9t-malaysia-launch-20-june/">all set to launch</a> the same in Malaysia. Next month, it will be launching the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro &#8220;Flagship Killer 2.0&#8221; in India, to take on the likes of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oneplus-7/">OnePlus 7</a> and Asus 6Z.</p>

<p>The Mi MIX 3 has a 6.39-inch 1080 x 2340 display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It has a slider design, so the front cameras are hidden when the phone is closed.  The phone is powered by a Snapdragon 845 processor and also comes in 8GB RAM and 10GB RAM variants with 128GB or 256GB of storage. The front-facing cameras are a 24MP + 2MP sensor and on the rear is a 12MP wide-angle lens paired with another 12MP telephoto lens.</p>

Now, the company has listed more smartphones under its Redmi series on its Amazon Spain online store.</p>
<p>The company has now added Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, Redmi Note 5A Prime, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/redmi-note-5a/">Redmi Note 5A</a>, Redmi 4X and the Redmi 4A smartphones. Earlier this month, the company had released Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 and Mi A1 smartphones.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-157989 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-4.jpg?x44794" alt="Xiaomi Redmi Note 4" width="1280" height="720" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-4.jpg 1280w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-4-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-4-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-4-1024x576.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px" /></p>
<p>The Redmi Note 4 smartphone is available in two storage options &#8212; 32GB and 64GB, for a starting price of €170. The Redmi Note 5A Prime costs €160, while the standard version &#8212; Redmi Note 5A is priced at €130.</p>
<p>Then, there is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-4x/">Redmi 4X</a>, which costs around €149, while the cheapest of them all is Redmi 4A which starts at a price of €100. It is also available in two variants &#8212; 16GB and 32GB of internal storage.</p>
<p>While the Mi A1 and Mi MIX 2 were made available a few days ago, the Android One smartphone, i.e. Mi A1, is currently out of stock. There is no information when the device will be back in stock. Along with that, Redmi Note 5A and Redmi 4A are also listed as &#8220;Temporarily Out of Stock&#8221;.</p>
<p>Xiaomi has set an ambitious goal for smartphone shipments for this year and continues its giant strides towards the same goal in the global market. Recently, the company <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/11/14/xiaomi-now-no-1-smartphone-brand-india-9-2m-shipment-q3-2017/">claimed</a> to have sold a record 9.2 million smartphones in the third quarter of 2017 in India. This was achieved due to the huge success recorded in the Diwali festive sales.</p>

<p>IDC also ranked Xiaomi as the number 1 smartphone brand in India, along with Samsung which has been dominating the market. OPPO, Lenovo and Vivo also fall behind Xiaomi once again in the pecking order.</p>
<p>In a bid to expand its market out of China, the company opened the world&#8217;s first Mi Store in Russia that would run for 24 hours, all seven days of the week. Xiaomi had made its entry into the Russian market back in April with the launch of three of its smartphones – Mi Mix, Mi Note 2 and Redmi 4x.</p>

Today, the Chinese manufacturer held an event in Madrid unveiling an online store, lots of products and partnerships with local retailers.</p>
<p>One of the first products that will be available to Mi fans in Spain is the Android One phone, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-a1/">Mi A1</a>. When Xiaomi announced the phone in India months ago, it said it would be available in a total of 37 countries. Of the 37 countries, 10 of them are in Europe. However, Spain was not originally among them.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-157072" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Xiaomi-Spain-Mi-A1.jpg?x44794" alt="Xiaomi Spain Mi A1" width="1200" height="600" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Xiaomi-Spain-Mi-A1.jpg 1200w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Xiaomi-Spain-Mi-A1-300x150.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Xiaomi-Spain-Mi-A1-768x384.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Xiaomi-Spain-Mi-A1-1024x512.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></p>
<p>The Mi A1 brings all the features of the Xiaomi Mi 5X but swaps out the MIUI ROM for Pure Android. And because it is an Android One phone, it will get updated to Android Oreo before other Xiaomi phones. The Oreo update is said to arrive before the end of 2017. The Mi A1 will sell for €229 and will come with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.</p>
<p>Spain will also get the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-mix-2/">Mi MIX 2</a> flagship phone. The 18:9 display-toting Mi MIX 2 will sell for €500 for the 6GB RAM + 64GB RAM variant. Other phones that will also be available in Spain include the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-6/">Mi 6</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-max-2/">Mi Max 2</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-4a/">Redmi 4A</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-4x/">Redmi 4X</a>, Redmi Note 4, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/redmi-note-5a/">Redmi Note 5A</a>, and Redmi Note 5A Prine</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-157073" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Xiaomi-Spain-Mi-MIX-2.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="1200" height="600" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Xiaomi-Spain-Mi-MIX-2.jpg 1200w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Xiaomi-Spain-Mi-MIX-2-300x150.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Xiaomi-Spain-Mi-MIX-2-768x384.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Xiaomi-Spain-Mi-MIX-2-1024x512.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /> <img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-157074" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Xiaomi-Spain-Electric-Scooter.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="1200" height="600" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Xiaomi-Spain-Electric-Scooter.jpg 1200w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Xiaomi-Spain-Electric-Scooter-300x150.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Xiaomi-Spain-Electric-Scooter-768x384.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Xiaomi-Spain-Electric-Scooter-1024x512.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></p>
<p>Xiaomi also announced that some of its Mi ecosystem products will be sold in Spain. The Mi Electric Scooter will sell for €349.99 but for a limited time it will go for €299.99. The Android-powered Mi Box is priced at €75 and the Yi 4K action camera has a €135 price tag. The Mi Band 2 will also be available for purchase in Spain.</p>

The company&#8217;s Senior VP Wang Xiang officially disclosed via his Twitter handle that it would be launching in Spain on November 7, signalling its entry into Western Europe. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/xiaomi-eu.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-155613" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/xiaomi-eu-1024x479.jpg?x44794" alt="xiaomi" width="640" height="299" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/xiaomi-eu-1024x479.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/xiaomi-eu-300x140.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/xiaomi-eu-768x359.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/xiaomi-eu.jpg 2048w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></a></p>
<p>Already, the company has got a dedicated Twitter handle for its Mi Espana arm and it is believed that an online Mi store for the market would be unveiled after the launch. The launch event would hold on November 7 in the Spanish capital city of Madrid. They left off without revealing the pilot products that would be unveiled in the market. If we are to go by the teaser poster which contains the Xiaomi Ninebot Self-balancing scooter, Spain may likely get more than just smartphones. However, the company may take things slowly by introducing just a few products.</p>

<p>We&#8217;ll have to wait until the launch to know the sales channels Xiaomi would employ to sell its products. No doubt, the success of the brand in Spain would determine how soon the company would enter other countries in Western Europe like France, Netherlands, U.K, Belgium and others.
