Have a Look at Xiaomi SU7’s Massive EV Manufacturing Factory, Revealed Ahead of Official Launch

Excitement is reaching an all-time high as Xiaomi SU7‘s launch date draws closer. After all, it is the company’s first electric car, and in a market saturating as rapidly as this, the launch will definitely be something to look out for. To celebrate this milestone, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun recently unveiled a portion of the company’s massive EV factory on Weibo, offering a glimpse into the production hub for the SU7.

The highly anticipated EV is not even 10 days away from its launch day

Consumers eager to get a closer look at the SU7 won’t have to wait long. Starting March 25th, select stores across 29 cities in China will be showcasing the car’s exterior. This allows potential buyers to experience the SU7’s design and size firsthand before the official launch. However, test drives won’t be available until March 28th, coinciding with the car’s unveiling.

Xiaomi Factory

While Xiaomi is choosing to stay hushed about official pricing, local media reports have offered some educated guesses in the past. Estimates suggest a starting price range between 250,000 RMB and 370,000 RMB (approximately $35,000 – $51,400 USD). This positions the SU7 competitively against Tesla’s popular Model 3, with the added benefit of a larger size for the Xiaomi car. Reports also hint at a potential top-tier “SU7 Max” variant priced above the roughly 300,000 RMB benchmark of the Huawei-backed Aito M5 SUV.

With a potential starting price close to Tesla’s Model 3, the SU7 could become a serious contender in the Chinese electric car market. The larger size of the SU7 might attract buyers seeking more space, but official pricing and detailed specifications will be crucial factors to watch. Xiaomi’s established brand recognition and technological prowess could also play a significant role in its success.

In the end, one thing’s for sure – the competition in the Chinese EV market is about to get even more interesting.

Google is Using AI Models in India to Tackle High-Mortality Diseases like Tuberculosis, Breast Cancer & More

Google AI is partnering with Apollo Radiology International to bring AI-powered healthcare solutions to communities across India. This collaboration focuses on tackling high-mortality diseases like tuberculosis, lung cancer, and breast cancer, where specialist shortages hinder early detection.

Apollo Radiology in India is leveraging these AI models for 3 million free screenings

  • TB detection: A shortage of radiologists to analyze chest X-rays, crucial for TB screening, is a major hurdle. Google’s AI system aids in early TB detection by analyzing these scans.
  • Lung and breast cancer screening: AI assists with both broader screening accessibility and identifying incidental nodules in lung scans and mammograms, helping radiologists prioritize cases.
Google EU Data Sharing

Over the next decade, Apollo Radiology International aims to leverage these AI models for 3 million free screenings for TB, lung cancer, and breast cancer. This initiative has the potential to significantly improve access to timely care for hundreds of thousands in India.

Google.org also supports ARMMAN, a mobile service offering targeted preventive care messages for expecting and new mothers. Google AI technology helps predict women at risk of dropping out of healthcare programs, allowing health workers to proactively follow up.

This collaboration is a clear example of AI bridging the healthcare gap in resource-limited regions, enabling earlier diagnoses and improved health outcomes. If the early trials with this technology bear fruit, we can expect this at a larger scale being deployed in multiple regions. One can hope, but AI can definitely make it possible!

Leaked Benchmarks Expose China’s Secret Weapon Zhaoxin KX-7000! Should Intel and AMD Be Afraid?

While China is a global tech manufacturing leader, domestic processor development lags behind some competitors, particularly the US. However, China is actively closing the gap, with recent advancements like Zhaoxin’s 8-core Kaixian KX-7000 processor demonstrating progress. Here are the details…

Zhaoxin KX-7000 Benchmarks Reveal Performance Boost for Chinese Processor

It has been eight years since Zhaoxin, a company focused on developing domestic X86 processors, introduced its first product, the ZX-C+. The company’s greatest success has been its continued hard work since that time, refusing to rest on its laurels. These efforts have apparently paid off. The domestically produced Zhaoxin KX-7000 processor appeared on Geekbench, demonstrating twice the performance of its predecessor, the KX-U6780A.

In the Geekbench 6 test, the Zhaoxin Kaixian KX-7000 scored 824 in single-core and 3813 in multi-core performance. According to the test details, the KX-7000 processor utilizes the KX700M motherboard and features an 8-core design. It has a base frequency of 2.99GHz, 4MB of L2 cache, and 32MB of L3 cache. The test was conducted on Windows 11 Pro in balanced power mode, and the processor reached a maximum operating frequency of 3293MHz.

At first glance, the processor’s score might seem comparable to an 8th-generation i5, which could appear underwhelming. Especially considering Intel’s release of 8th-generation processors in August 2017. However, remember that Intel debuted its first processor in 1971, while Zhaoxin began in 2013. In this context, a seven-year difference highlights substantial progress.

Geekbench 6 scores on the Linux system show the previous-generation KX-U6780A processor achieved a single-core score of 344 and a multi-core score of 1873. The new KX-7000 offers 2.4 times the single-core performance and double the multi-core performance. Zhaoxin attributes this to the KX-7000’s “Century Avenue” microarchitecture and improved Chiplet design. The KX-7000 also features faster graphics and upgraded I/O interfaces like DDR5, PCIe 4.0, and USB4. Still, the company has a long way to go

Xiaomi Smart Switch Pro now available in White color is sleek, smart, & budget-friendly

Xiaomi has unveiled a new color variant for its Smart Switch Pro – a sleek White version. The smart switch was initially launched in China last year in October and this new addition complements the existing Deep Space Grey option.

Xiaomi Smart Switch Pro is priced at 129 yuan ($18) and it remains a compelling choice for budget-conscious users seeking to add smart lighting control to their homes.

Xiaomi Smart Switch Pro

Xiaomi Smart Switch Pro Specifications:

Coming to the specs, the smart switch boasts a single live and neutral wire compatible design, eliminating the need to worry about existing wiring configurations during installation. This feature makes it easy to replace traditional switches, especially in older homes that might lack neutral wires.

The Xiaomi Smart Switch Pro features a premium AG glass panel with an external AF coating. This results in a switch that’s resistant to scratches, fingerprints, and even oil stains, ensuring a clean and responsive experience. It’s a welcome improvement over traditional plastic switches that can become grimy and less responsive over time.

Xiaomi Smart Switch Pro

Xiaomi Smart Switch Pro boasts AI self-checking and adaptive mode and is built with V-0 flame retardant material, offering exceptional fire resistance. It also boasts brass-plated gold terminals for improved circuit connection stability and reduced power consumption. Additionally, the switch automatically cuts off power when the rated power is exceeded (2200W) or the temperature limit is reached, providing an extra layer of protection.

Xiaomi Smart Switch Pro seamlessly integrates with the Mi Home app through Xiaomi’s HyperOS Connect, enabling access to smart features. Users can create automation scenes, control lights remotely, and even monitor real-time power consumption. This level of control allows users to personalize their lighting experience and potentially optimize energy usage.

Xiaomi Smart Switch Pro

Xiaomi Smart Switch Pro also integrates with the Xiao Ai smart speaker. Simple voice commands can turn lights on or off, eliminating the need to reach for the switch.

Another interesting feature is the ability to convert the Xiaomi Smart Switch Pro into a wireless switch. This software function, set through the Mi Home app, allows users to control other smart devices in the house, like vacuum cleaners or air purifiers, without any additional wiring required.

Mevo Core is Logitech’s Newest 4K Livestreaming Camera, Priced at $999

Creators looking to up their livestreaming game have a new option from Logitech, but it comes at a hefty price. The Mevo Core is a 4K livestreaming camera priced at a staggering $999, a threefold jump compared to Logitech’s previous 1080p Mevo Start model.

The webcam has WiFi 6E, but only 6 hours of battery life on one charge

The Core offers significant improvements targeted at professional streamers. Unlike its predecessor, the 4K resolution allows for cropping and zooming without sacrificing video quality. It also boasts a larger 4/3 CMOS sensor for better low-light performance and depth of field.

Mevo Core Logitech

However, unlike the Mevo Start package, the Core ships body-only. You’ll need to purchase a Micro Four Thirds (MFT) lens separately to get started, adding to the overall cost.

Despite the price tag, the Core boasts some compelling features. It includes a built-in three-microphone array with noise cancellation, addressing a common pain point with the previous model. WiFi 6E support promises smoother streaming with compatible routers, and a six-hour battery life offers decent portability. The camera also doubles as a wired or wireless HD webcam, providing extra utility.

For creators on a budget, the Mevo Start might still be a good option. But for those seeking top-notch 4K streaming capabilities, the Mevo Core offers a powerful solution, albeit at a premium price.

Google Applies for the “G” Logo Patent on the Back of Their Devices

Google‘s Pixel phones have long been distinguished by the now-iconic “G” logo adorning their backs. Interestingly, despite this logo’s presence since the first Pixel launched in 2016, Google only recently filed a trademark application for it with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

It’s definitely intriguing why Google waited until now to patent such an important logo

This move has sparked some discussion. Some see it as a strategic effort to further solidify the Pixel brand identity in a crowded smartphone market. The “G” logo has undoubtedly become a hallmark of Pixel phones, similar to the Apple logo on iPhones or the Samsung logo on Galaxy phones. Its consistent placement, first at the bottom and then moving to the center position with the Pixel 6 series in 2021 is a good sign for the company’s brand recognition.

Pixel Patent

However, others question the timing. Trademarking a logo already used for years might seem like an afterthought. Some speculate it could be a defensive measure against potential logo imitators or a way to leverage the brand recognition for future Pixel products beyond smartphones, say, tablets.

The trademark application itself offers some clues. It details a sketch of the “G” logo situated in the center of a phone’s back and specifies registration for the mobile phone category only, covering telephones, mobile phones, cellular phones, and smartphones. It’s worth noting that Pixel tablets also feature the same “G” logo, but this trademark application doesn’t cover tablets. This could suggest Google might have separate trademark plans for its tablet line, or it might simply be prioritizing smartphones for now.

Google Pixel 8a will have four different versions: confirms certification documents from US certification agency

Following the leaked live images and renders showing UWB Antenna, Google recently applied for approval of four device models with model numbers G8HHN, GKV4X, G6GPR, and G576D to the FCC or the Federal Communications Commission. On the other side, real-life images of the Google Pixel 8a retail box have already surfaced on the internet. The box shows “Model: G6GPR” which is one of the model numbers that has now been approved by the FCC.

Pixel 8a retail box with model number G6GPR

If you are thinking about the other three model numbers, Google generally develops different phone models based on hardware requirements in different regions, such as a 5G mmWave antenna. Notably, the paperwork for the approval notes the different model numbers as different versions of the same phone.

The last two generations of affordable Pixel devices were released in May. So, you can expect the Pixel 8a to arrive within the next couple of months.

Pixel 8a will have a similar form factor to the Pixel 7a

Having said that, we also have a dimension of the device which is 152.0 x 73.0 x 9.0mm. Compared with last year’s Google Pixel 7a, this is only 0.1mm wider and the rest remains exactly the same.

From the image on the leaked retail box, we can see a familiar camera module design which appears to be just a bit thicker, with slightly more rounded corners compared to the Pixel 7a. This phone is expected to come with an underclocked version of the Tensor G3 chip which previously appeared on Geekbench with scoring 1218 and 3175 for single and multi cores respectively. The phone will offer the same 6.1″ 90Hz display and will be available in four color options.

POCO C61 Appears On Google Play Console Listing

POCO is working on a C-series smartphone. It is probably the successor to the POCO C51 that launched in April last year. The POCO C61 was spotted on the Play Supported Devices list last week. Now, the smartphone has appeared on the Google Play Console listing. It reveals the front design of the device as well as its key specifications.

POCO C61 appears on Google Play Console

The POCO C61 is listed with model number 2312BPC51H. The render in the certification shows the smartphone with a centre-aligned punch-hole cutout and the screen surrounded by thin bezels. The power and volume rocker buttons are on the right side. The device will have a display resolution of 720 x 1,650 pixels and a screen density of 320 DPI.

As for the hardware, the Google Play Console listing reveals that the POCO C61 has an SoC codenamed MediaTek MT6765X. It comprises four Cortex-A53 cores at 2.2GHz and another four Cortex-A53 cores ticking at 1.6GHz. This suggests that the chipset is Helio G36. The smartphone is listed with 4GB RAM and it will run on Android 14 OS out of the box.

The rest of the details of the POCO C61 have not been revealed. The device has already bagged Bluetooth SIG and BIS certifications. Speculations are rife that the smartphone could be a rebadged Redmi A3 that launched in India last month. It is also powered by the same processor as the upcoming C61. However, there could be slight differences. POCO’s C-series phones have often been rebranded versions of Redmi phones.
