OPPO to launch 120W SUPERVOOC flash charger, gets ERAC certification

OPPO is gearing up to introduce a new generation of fast charging technology with the unveiling of a 120W SUPERVOOC flash charger. This exciting development comes after the charger, sporting model number VCBBOAAH / A788-110110U-AU1, received certification from Australia’s Electrical Regulatory Authorities Council (ERAC).

OPPO 120W SUPERVOOC Charger ERAC Certification

120W SUPERVOOC Charger Certification Details

The certification details reveal that the VCBBOAAH charger, manufactured by Dongguan Aohai Technology, is capable of delivering a maximum output of 120W, achieved through an 11V 11A configuration. It also supports a wide range of input voltages, from 200-240V 50/60Hz, which aligns with Australia’s power supply specifications.

The voltage and frequency specifications of 200-240V 50/60Hz are compatible with many regions around the world, especially in Europe, Asia, Australia, and parts of Africa. However, it is not universally compatible across all regions. For example, the standard power supply in North America (the United States and Canada) is typically 120V at 60Hz. Similarly, Japan primarily uses 100V at either 50Hz or 60Hz, depending on the region.

Oppo SuperVooc

OnePlus and OPPO’s recent devices like the OnePlus 12, OnePlus Ace 3, Find X7, and X7 Ultra all feature the 100W SUPERVOOC wired flash charging. The current 100W SUPERVOOC charger, available in China, operates at a maximum output of 11V 9.1A 100W under 200-240V voltage. This translates to a slight decrease in power output (11V 7.3A 80W) when used under 100-130V voltage conditions.

While the 120W charger hasn’t been officially linked to any specific devices yet. It is expected to play a crucial role in powering future OPPO, OnePlus smartphones, offering users a significant upgrade in charging speeds compared to current offerings.

Realme 12 pro vs Realme 11 pro: Design and colours

Realme 12 Pro:

In terms of design this is a good looking device with an interesting design pattern. For a more premium feel this device features a curved screen that most flagship devices seem to be dropping off. It’s great to see a curved screen on this affordable device but its curved 6.7-inch AMOLED screen is not the main selling point of this device in terms of design.

On the rear this device features a circular rear camera cutout that has gold patterns around it and they also run from the top to the bottom through the centre of the device. This gold colour is also available along the sides of this device giving it a premium feel regardless of its affordable pricing. The colour options here are Submarine Blue and Navigator Beige with the first featuring a leather-ish texture.

Realme 11 Pro:

The design of this device is quite similar to that of its successor the new Realme 12 Pro. Some might say that the new device borrowed a thing or two from the old timer and made a few upgrades. This device also comes with a circular rear camera cutout, a line that runs from the top of the rear panel to the base passing through the rear camera cutout.

Upfront we see a curved screen display with a centre mounted selfie camera cutout. Just like its successor the Realme 11 Pro comes with interesting colour options that you can choose from when purchasing one for yourself. The colour options that this device provides buyers are Astral Black, Sunrise Beige, and Oasis Green.

Major differences:

  • The Realme 12 Pro changes things on its rear design.

Realme 12 pro vs Realme 11 pro: Display

Realme 12 pro and Realme 11 pro:

Both devices feature the same display panel, a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen with 120Hz adaptive display.

Major differences:

  • Nil.

Realme 12 pro vs Realme 11 pro: Cameras

Realme 12 pro:

The Realme 12 Pro comes with a triple rear camera setup as well as a good processor. Pairing these two together will ensure that users get great results per shot in both well lit areas and low light areas. The rear camera setup this device uses is a 50MP, 32MP, and 8MP entry.

Up front the Realme 12 Pro features a 16MP sensor for taking selfies. When it comes to video recording the rear cameras on this device can record at 4K resolution. All together these are great stats for this device and can assure users of stable photography on the go.

Realme 11 pro:

In terms of camera, this older device comes with just two rear cameras but more megapixels on the main camera. For its main camera this device features a 100MP sensor which is more than that on the 12 Pro which carries a 50MP main camera sensor. However this doesn’t mean that the old 11 Pro takes better pictures than the new 12 Pro.

The secondary sensor on this smartphone is its 2MP depth sensor. Up front on this device is a 16MP selfie camera sensor that is tucked away under a centre screen cutout. This device also features some camera abilities that help it stand out from the competition.

Major differences:

  • An extra camera on the Realme 12 Pro.

Realme 12 pro vs Realme 11 pro: Performance

Realme 12 pro:

When it comes to performance this device is fuelled by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 processor. Joining this processor is 8GB worth of RAM capacity as standard there are no more RAM options on this device. Storage maxes out at 256GB which is great for the average user but some might need some more storage boost.

Realme 11 pro:

Under the hood of this device is the Mediatek Dimensity 7050 processor. For its memory capacity, this device will rely on its optional 8GB or 12GB capacity which is joined by up  to 512GB. The performance of this device is among the top  in its class on AnTuTu benchmark.

Major upgrades & differences:

  • More RAM on the Realme 11 Pro.
  • More storage options on the Realme 11 Pro.

Realme 12 pro vs Realme 11 pro: Software

Realme 12 pro and Realme 11 pro:

Both devices run on Android 14 and the Realme UI 5.0 software (but the Realme 11 Pro launched with Android 13 and Realme UI 4.0) with 3 years of OS upgrade.

Major differences:

  • Nil.

Realme 12 pro vs Realme 11 pro: Battery life and charging

Realme 12 pro and Realme 11 pro:

Same battery capacity at 5000mAh and charging speed at 67W both devices don’t offer wireless charging.

Major differences:

  • Nil.

Realme 12 pro vs Realme 11 pro: Final Verdict

Both of these devices are top of their class in terms of areas like photography, performance, display, and so on. However, considering that the Realme 11 Pro is an older device some might pick the 12 Pro over it but some might fall back to the older device as it will be more affordable now. In terms of photography the new Realme 12 Pro is the better choice it is also the better pick in terms of performance.

Apple Car seemingly canceled in favor of AI

Apple has apparently canned its plans for the highly anticipated electric car. Over the years, it was revealed that the brand was actively working on self driving technology and more for its very own Apple Car, but now it seems like AI (Artificial Intelligence) is behind the project being shut down.

Apple Car Canceled, Focus Shifts to AI

The news arrives from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The Cupertino based giant’s ambitious plans had been facing troubles in past months, but work seemed to be going strong. But earlier this week, a surprise announcement shocked nearly 2,000 employees as the Chief Operating Officer Jeff Williams, and Vice President overlooking the project Kevin Lynch shared the news of the Apple Car being canceled.

Apple Car

People working on the car project who were a part of the SPG (Special Projects Group) are reportedly being shifted to another promising field, which is artificial intelligence. The timing of this announcement falls in line with the booming demand for AI and its massive growth in the past year. The report claims that the team will now be working on generative AI. The SPG consists of engineers and vehicle designers, so their fate is unclear but ay offs might be right around the corner.

If this report is true, then Project Titan is being buried in favor of AI. This isn’t completely surprising since the market for electric vehicles have lowered and automobile makers are currently facing issues in production and falling demand. Keep in mind that this is still just speculation at the moment, so take this report with a pinch of salt for now.

Honor is set to break new ground with its foray into two additional product categories alongside mainstream smartphones. In an exclusive interview with CNBC at the Mobile World Congress 2024 in Barcelona, George Zhao, CEO of Honor, revealed the company’s plans to introduce a vertical-folding style smartphone, likely named Honor Magic Flip, alongside a smart ring. This move signifies Honor’s ambition to challenge established players in the product category like Samsung.

The upcoming flip phone represents Honor’s foray into the flip foldable category, a style popularized by brands such as Samsung and Motorola. Zhao expressed confidence in the potential of foldable devices, highlighting the company’s positive outlook for the future. While Honor already boasts a range of foldable phones, including the Honor Magic V2, these devices come with a book-style form factor and are generally more expensive.

At the heart of Honor’s strategy lies the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into its devices. Zhao emphasized the importance of AI in enhancing user interaction and experience. By leveraging AI capabilities, Honor aims to anticipate user needs and preferences, exemplified by features such as predictive actions based on user behavior. At MWC, the company showcased AI-powered functionalities, including eye-tracking technology on the Honor Magic 6 Pro handset and a chatbot built on Meta’s Llama 2 AI model.

Although not much about hardware specifications is known at this point, some earlier reports suggested that this vertical folding device could pack a 2,420mAh + 1,980mAh dual-cell battery, offering a total capacity of 4,500mAh. If true, this device will have the biggest battery among flip phones.

A smart ring from Honor that aims to utilize AI in health monitoring

In addition to its advancements in smartphones, Honor is expanding its product portfolio to include smart rings in its wearables. The company unveiled its first smart ring at MWC 2024, a move following Samsung’s debut of the Galaxy Ring. Zhao hinted at the potential synergy between its wearables and smartphones through its health app, envisioning seamless health monitoring facilitated by AI.

The incorporation of AI into health-focused devices opens avenues for personalized health insights and recommendations. Zhao underscored AI’s transformative potential in revolutionizing health applications, envisioning tailored training programs based on individual habits and health data. With the smart ring, Honor aims to empower users with actionable insights derived from AI-driven analysis, complementing its existing lineup of wearables and smartphones.

Meet the Polestar Phone: A clone of Meizu 21 Pro

In the world of phone leaks, it’s crucial to get things right. We recently talked about the Polestar Phone and thought it was a Meizu 20 Infinity in disguise. It looks like GSMChina made a mistake and published an apology blog. The Polestar Phone is actually a Meizu 21 Pro and in this article, we want to clarify some things.

We actually first met the Polestar Phone back in November. At the time Meizu had registered it as the Meizu 21 Pro, but we didn’t know all the technical details yet. The surprise came when we learned about the Polestar Phone just two days before Meizu officially launched the 21 Pro. The model we thought was the Polestar Phone two weeks ago turned out to be the satellite communication version of the Meizu 20 Infinity.

The Polestar Phone has the model number “M481S“. GSMChina has learned that this number is actually associated with the Meizu 21 Pro, not the Meizu 20 Infinity. Thanks to a recent update from the Geely team, we now have a clear knowledge of the correct model relationship. Let’s make things right by understanding the correct model numbers.

In the first report, it was mistakenly said that the model number “M392S” was the Polestar Phone. After digging deeper, we learned that this model number actually belongs to the satellite communication version of the Meizu 20 Infinity, not the Polestar Phone.
