Sony Xperia 1 VI camera specs revealed in leaked marketing materials

The Sony Xperia 1 VI made appearances in leaks last year but went silent for a while. Recently, leaks about the device have resurfaced, likely due to the approaching rumored launch date.

According to a new leak shared by X (formerly Twitter) leaker Insider Sony, there’s what seems to be marketing material for the Sony Xperia 1 VI. The material reveals that the phone will have a triple rear camera setup, an upgrade from its predecessor, which had two cameras.

All three cameras will feature a 48MP sensor, utilizing the same Exmor T for mobile image sensor found in the Xperia 1 V’s primary lens. This technology promises improved light intake and reduced noise for cameras. And it seems all three sensors in the upcoming Sony Xperia 1 VI will be making use of this feature.

Anywho, the main lens will be equipped with a large f/1.4 aperture, 2x optical zoom, and dual-PD AF for quicker and more precise focusing. Additionally, it is said to offer 1080p video recording with electronic image stabilization (EIS).

The ultra-wide camera will have a 14-18mm focal length, perfect for capturing wide scenes, and will come with on-chip autofocus.

Meanwhile, the telephoto lens will offer a 6x zoom and, according to leaks, captures detailed photos with its 48MP sensor. However, the 6x zoom is likely achieved through sensor cropping, as the native optical zoom will reach only 3x.

While specific details about the Xperia 1 VI are still limited, a leak from September, as reported by NotebookCheck, suggests an official unveiling at MWC Barcelona 2024 on February 28th.

However, considering the leaker also shared an image of Sony’s MWC event on February 26th, an earlier reveal is possible. Regardless, more information about the Xperia 1 VI is expected to emerge in the coming weeks.
