These changes include the option to disable the screen lock when using a trusted device, minor UI tweaks, and the ability to hide your username and profile picture on the lock screen.
ChromeOS lock screen currently shows your account’s profile picture and full name when you sign in. Not everyone wants this information to be visible, so Google is working on a feature that will allow you to hide your username and profile picture on the lock screen.
This is a welcome addition, as it gives users more control over their privacy. Google is also working on a new toggle that will allow you to define if your Chromebook unlocks automatically after entering your PIN. This option is reportedly located under Settings > Lock Screen & Sign-in.
Google is also working on a few changes to the Settings app. The Settings menu is now being tweaked to more clearly explain the difference between apps and Google Play. It will also be made more clear that removing the Google Play Store from your ChromeOS device will also disable Android apps. Previously, this page only said that you would be removing the Play Store.
There are also some changes to the ChromeOS launcher. The new launcher, which Google is calling the “Everything launcher,” will have a section for customized search results, as well as interactive cards from the Diagnostics app. These cards will show information about the CPU usage, temperature, and clock speed of the device.
Apart from this, Google is also reworking how installed apps show up in the launcher. For apps that are still being downloaded from the Play Store, the launcher will now show the app icon with “Installing…” written underneath.

As you know, back in 2019, the US government has imposed a number of restrictions on Huawei, including a ban on the export of American technology to the company. This has made it difficult for Huawei to obtain the components it needs to manufacture its smartphones.
The use of SK Hynix memory in the Mate 60 Pro suggests that Huawei may have found a way to bypass the US sanctions. This has raised concerns in Washington, where some lawmakers are calling for further restrictions on Huawei. SK Hynix has denied supplying memory units to Huawei. The company said in a statement that it does not export products to Huawei or any other entities on the US Entity List.

The Geekbench listing has revealed some key specifications for the Samsung Galaxy A25 5G having model number SM-A256B. It will be powered by an octa-core Exynos 1280 SoC and sport a generous 8GB of RAM. On the software front, this upcoming addition to the Galaxy A-series will run Android 13 right out of the box, with the One UI skin layered on top. The smartphone managed to score 937 in the single-core test and 2106 in the multi-core test during benchmarking.
A previous report shared the CAD renders of the smartphone, revealing it will have a 6.44-inch display with a waterdrop notch. The back of the phone is shown to feature a triple-lens camera system with an LED flash. For security, the device has a side-facing fingerprint sensor on the right side with a volume rocker.
The Galaxy A25 has a single speaker and a 3.5mm headphone jack. According to the report, the device measures 162 x 77.5 x 8.3mm. Another report revealed the Galaxy A25 will sport a 50MP main camera on the back. On the front, it will be equipped with a 13MP shooter. This suggests the handset will have the same primary and selfie cameras as the Galaxy A24.

If the leaks are to be believed, the Honor Magic V2 Lite could be the most affordable book-style foldable smartphone to release in 2023.

The Honor 90 is set to launch in India on September 14 (Thursday). It will mark the brand’s re-entry into the country’s smartphone market.

5. Samsung W24 Series
Samsung has confirmed to announce new W series phones in China on September 15 (Friday). These devices are anticipated to be called Samsung W24 and Samsung W24 Flip.
Based on previous W series handsets and leaks, the W24 and W24 Flip will likely be a premium version of Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5, respectively. They will retain the core features but may have additional design elements.
We wouldn’t be surprised if they come in higher RAM and storage variants than the original models.

The Oppo A2 Pro is tipped to launch in China on September 15 (Friday). Since this information comes from a reliable leaker, it is most likely true.
As per the source, the device will sport a 6.7-inch FHD+ 120Hz curved display. This OLED panel will also have support for 2160Hz high-frequency PWM dimming.
It will house a 5,000mAh battery but there’s no info on the chipset. Finally, it will arrive with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage.

The base Air Buds 3 is the more affordable earbuds out of the two, but still offers the same lightweight and sleep design. It also houses 13mm audio drivers and feature HyperSync technology for quick pairing. Similar to its more expensive sibling, the Air Buds 3 feature Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity as well as Environmental Noise Cancellation for clearer call quality.
Unfortunately, this model does not include ANC support. Apart from ANC, most of the other features are mostly identical. In other words, the vanilla variant also features Bluetooth 5.3, up to 45 hours of battery life, IPX5 splash and sweat resistance, 1 year warranty, and fast charging support that enables 200 minutes of audio playback with just 10 minutes of charging. For gamers, the 45ms low latency mode is also present in this model.

The Noise Air Buds 3 is currently available for a special introductory price tag of just 1,399 INR for the first 500 customers. After this deal is availed, the price tag will be increased. The base model comes in a Serene White and Jet Black color option. On the other hand, the Noise Air Buds Pro 3 arrives in multiple color variants, which include Sage Green, Serene White, Shadow Grey, and Space Black. It is also listed with a special offer that lowers its price tag to just 1,799 INR for the first 5400 customers. Both models will go on sale at midnight of 12th Septmeber 2023 and will be sold via the company’s official website, Amazon, and Flipkart.
Huawei recently released the Mate 60 series of smartphones in China. The Mate 60 Pro has been a huge success, with over 1 million units sold through pre-orders in just 5 days. Along with the phone, Huawei also released official cases for the Mate 60 series.
The cases are made of silicone or plain leather and cost 99 yuan. They will go on sale on September 10 via Huawei Mall. The cases have a simple design with just the Huawei logo at the bottom.
Apart from the two cases mentioned, there’s likely a “Smart Window” protective case available for the Huawei Mate 60 series. This type of case has been available for the Mate 50 series as well, so it should work in the same way for the newer smartphones.
Basically, the smart window case is a flip-top case that covers a part of the screen but leaves a transparent window on top so you can see the time, date, weather, and notifications without opening the case. It will also automatically wake up the phone when opened and put it to sleep when closed, making it more convenient to use.
This type of flip-top case can also better protect the screen and reduce scratches. It’s not yet available on the Huawei Mall but is expected to be priced at 199 yuan, making it the most expensive case of the three.
The other two phone cases have built-in strong magnets that can firmly attach to other magnetic surfaces. This means that you can use them with magnetic car mounts, magnetic charging stands, and other accessories.
The Google Pixel 8 series launch is just around the corner. But ahead of the October launch event, a new leak has revealed the pricing for the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro in the European market. So let’s have a look.
Google Pixel 8 & Pixel 8 Leaked Pricing
For those unaware, the search engine giant is planning on announcing its latest generation of flagship smartphones on 4th October 2023. The successor to the Pixel 7 lineup will arrive with various upgrades. Now, a new report from Dealabs Magazine reveals the pricing details of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. According to the leak, the Pixel 8 Pro will launch in three storage configurations, which include a 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB model.
Meanwhile, the Pixel 8 will launch in just the 128GB and 256GB configurations. The base model will start from 799 euros for the 128GB version, while the 256GB variant will have a price tag of 859 euros. On the other hand, the Google Pixel 8 Pro will start from 1099 euros for the 128GB model, while the 256GB and top-end 512GB will cost 1,159 euros and 1,299 euros respectively. These details are in line with our previous report.
Based on earlier rumors, the Pixel 8 series will launch in multiple color variants as well. The flagship Pro model will come in Bay, Obsidian, Porcelain, and Mint options, while the vanilla Pixel 8 is confirmed to arrive in a Pinkish rose option alongside a rumored black and grey/green version. Keep in mind that this is still just an unconfirmed report so take this news with a pinch of salt.
Samsung is reportedly working on a new rugged smartphone under the Galaxy Xcover brand, the Galaxy Xcover 7. This device is expected to be released soon and has been assigned the model number SM-G556B. Interestingly, this model number is similar to the upcoming Galaxy A55’s model number, “SM-A556B”. This has led some to speculate that the Galaxy Xcover 7 may be a more rugged version of the Galaxy A55.
However, it is still unclear whether the Galaxy Xcover 7 will be a Pro model like the existing Galaxy Xcover 6 Pro. Based on Samsung’s naming convention for rugged smartphones, it is more likely that the Galaxy Xcover 7 is not a Pro model.
The Galaxy Xcover 6 Pro has the model number SM-G7xx, while the Galaxy Xcover 5 had the model number SM-G5xx. This suggests that the higher the number, the more powerful the device is. So, if the Galaxy Xcover 7 has the model number SM-G556B, it is more likely to be a non-Pro model than a direct sequel to the Galaxy Xcover 6 Pro. Otherwise, logic dictates that the upcoming device should have had the SM-G756B model number (via Sammobile).
Of course, these are just assumptions. But the close resemblance between the upcoming Xcover’s model number and the Galaxy A55 does suggest that it could be a rugged Galaxy A55. However, we don’t know the specifications of the Galaxy A55 either, as it is also expected to be released next year.
As of now, the rumored Xcover 7 existence has not been confirmed by Samsung, and there is no official information about its specifications. However, it is expected to launch in the first half of 2024.

The OPPO A38 comes with a 6.56-inch HD+ LCD that’s got a smooth 90Hz refresh rate for a fluid watching/scrolling experience. Inside, it’s powered by a processor called MediaTek Helio G85. You get 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, and you can even add more with a memory card if you want.

RAM is an important component of PCs and smartphones but there’s only so much you need. For most everyday use and basic tasks, 8GB of RAM is more than enough. Even for gaming or video editing, 16GB is generally sufficient. But recently smartphone manufacturers started to push 24GBs of RAM in their flagships, and it doesn’t seem like they’re going to stop there. Word on the grapevine suggests 32GB RAM phones might also be on the way.
Digital Chat Station said in a Weibo post 32GB of RAM is already being tested on smartphones. The Chinese tipster did not reveal which brand is dedicated to pushing the limits. Previous trends suggest it might be Realme, OnePlus, or maybe Nubia. These manufacturers have already launched phones with massive 24GB of RAM, with the Red Magic 8S Pro being the first in the line. OnePlus Ace 2 Pro (review) and Realme GT 5 also boast exessive RAM.
When the news broke about 24GB RAM on smartphones, we noted it could be useful in certain cases. For one, foldable smartphones may be able to make use of this much RAM since they are productivity machines and are designed to perform multiple tasks at the same time. Gaming smartphones could also benefit from them. But don’t expect to see any over-the-top performance improvements.
The news of 32GB of RAM on phones raises the question of its use case. For now, there is no real need for this much RAM on a phone, as most tasks can be performed with less. In fact, 32GB of RAM is considered overkill even on a PC (via Vibox), which is typically more powerful than a phone. Professionals such as video editors and those who do high-end VFX may be able to benefit from 32GB of RAM on a PC but it’s hard to think of a use case on a phone.
