Galaxy S23 series gets security improvements
Sammobile reports the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra models have started to get the August 2023 security patch with the firmware version S91xBXXU3AWGJ. The changelog of the update only mentions reliability and stability improvements. But as the outlet points out, Samsung may release more details once the update reaches to South Korea. The company should post the detailed changelog in its community forums.
As previously mentioned, the update is currently only being rolled out in Thailand. Samsung is expected to extend this update to other regions in the coming days. If you own a Galaxy S23, S23+, or S23 Ultra, you will be able to download the August update from the phone’s “Settings” » “Software update” menu once it becomes available in your country.
In the near future, the Korean tech giant could also start the Android 14 beta for the Galaxy S23 series. Reports have claimed that the One UI 6.0 beta for the latest Samsung flagships will start this month, with no official confirmation from the brand yet. We shouldn’t have to wait long since the Android 14 Betas have already achieved platform stability. Samsung has already been updating its apps with One UI 6.0 support in recent weeks.
The Galaxy S23 series will be the first to get the beta update, but Samsung might soon extend it to other devices.

Magic V2 is Honor’s latest folding smartphone that raises the bar with its thin and light design. The smartphone was launched in China last month, and it seems the global launch will take place next month. Honor has confirmed today that it will hold its IFA Berlin conference on September 1, hinting the event will feature the launch of not just one, but two foldables. Here are the details.
Honor might unveil two foldables on September 1
Honor announced its IFA event will be held in Berlin on September 1 at 10 AM CEST time. The company did not mention the specific devices launching in the event but leaves us with a tagline “Unfold Tomorrow”. The silhouette on the teaser poster suggests a foldable smartphone is up for unveil and it’s likely the Magic V2.
Notably, the poster shows another device. Could it mean Honor has two foldables to launch during the event? We are not sure but the company did confirm the existence of a flip phone during a recent media roundtable.
Honor Magic V2’s global launch could be great news for foldable smartphone enthusiasts. The smartphone is one of a kind, measuring only 9.9mm when closed, but when you open it, the thickness goes to an impressive 4.7mm. Magic V2 weighs only 237g, which is less than any other foldable in the market and even less than some of the bar phones.
The foldable also packs impressive specifications with up to Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor and a 120Hz AMOLED display on both outer and inside panels. It brings a large 5,000mAh battery with 66W charging support.

Samsung’s A0x smartphones debut as more budget-friendly offerings from the brand. They come with mediocre specifications but go easy on your wallet. The recent Galaxy A04 debuted last year with MediaTek Helio P35 octa-core processor. And the company could soon introduce the Galaxy A05 as it has started to bag multiple certifications. In the latest development, Galaxy A05 has received FCC and BIS certifications.
Samsung Galaxy A05 to bring 4G LTE and Android 13
Both certifications do not reveal much information about the device. For what it’s worth, FCC tells us the Galaxy A05 (SM-A055M) will bring 4G LTE as well as Wi-Fi 2.4Ghz, 5Ghz, and 5.8Ghz frequency bands support. The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification, on the other hand, only reveals the model number. However, the authority hints the Galaxy A05 is nearing its Indian launch.
Late in July, the smartphone also received the Bluetooth SIG certification, which confirmed Bluetooth v3.0 support. It is certain the Galaxy A05 will run Android 13 out of the box with One UI 5 skin on top. However, the software may be the “core” version, made for budget-friendly phones with hardware limitations.
The Galaxy A05 is supposed to be an upgrade over the Galaxy A04, which debuted last year in August. An upgrade means likely a new processor, display improvements, and if Samsung is being generous, you might also see new camera sensors. To remind you, the Galaxy A04 brings a 6.5-inch display with an Infinity-V notch and HD+ resolution.
It gets a 5M front camera and a dual-camera system on the back, headlined by a 50MP primary shooter and a 2MP depth sensor. The device has a 5,000mAh battery unit that likely supports 10W charging.
Apple’s Fall event is just a month away. The Cupertino-based tech giant follows a tradition of launching the next-generation iPhones, Apple Watch Series, iPad Pros, and other announcements in September. A recent report revealed a potential launch date of the event. Now Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in his latest ‘Power On’ newsletter has revealed the launch and sale dates of the iPhone 15.
iPhone 15 launch and sale dates tipped
Gurman in his newsletter reveals that Apple will launch the iPhone 15 on September 13 corroborating a previous report. However, there is also a possibility that the launch may happen a day earlier on September 12. Notably, Apple also follows a ritual of launching its products on the second Tuesday of the month.
The iPhone 15 is also reported to go on sale starting September 22. This means that the Cupertino-based tech giant will get a week to register iPhone 15 sales in the fiscal fourth quarter that runs through September. Last week, Apple acknowledged that the smartphone market is facing a slowdown. The company said that it has been in a decline for the last couple of quarters in the US. This presents a challenge for the next-generation iPhones that are due to debut in a few weeks.
The sales of the iPhone 15 series will be tested during the holiday quarter which runs from October to November. The last three generation iPhones suffered in sales aspects soon after launch due to various factors like US-China trade tensions, the COVID-19 pandemic, and supply chain constraints. This year’s iPhone 15 lineup is also expected to pack major upgrades since the iPhone 11. Hence we can expect the upcoming generation of phones to perform better.
Leaks and rumors have revealed plenty of information left, right, and center about the iPhone 15 series. Furthermore, they are expected to gather pace in the coming weeks as we get closer to the official launch.

OnePlus Open Price in India

In April, Xiaomi unveiled Redmi Note 12 Pro 4G for select international markets. This device is an upgraded version of the Redmi Note 10 Pro from two years ago.
It was released with Android 11 but with MIUI 13 onboard. However, the handset was soon upgraded to Android 12-based MIUI 14.
Now, it has started receiving Android 13 as well. In other words, in less than 4 months on the market, Xiaomi has delivered 2 Android updates for the phone by debuting it with an outdated version of Android.
As per Xiaomiui, the Android 13 update for Redmi Note 12 Pro 4G is currently limited to Mi Pilot testers. But it should be available for all users in the coming days.
Apart from bringing a new version of Android, the system update also bumps up the security patch level to July 2023. Other than these two changes, the official changelog does not mention anything else.
Users of the smartphone can periodically head over to Settings to check whether their unit has received the fresh software update.
The newer model arrives with a faster 67W charging support instead of 33W and a Dolby Vision-enabled display. However, at the same time, its battery capacity is slightly lower at 5,000mAh compared to a 5,020mAH battery inside the older handset.
We already know that Google is working on a successor to its Pixel Watch. While we have covered recent rumors, a fresh report offers us a detailed look at the specs and features that the company will offer with the upcoming Pixel Watch 2. So here’s a complete breakdown.
Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 & better battery
The news arrives from AndroidAuthority and reveals key specs of the Pixel Watch 2, which includes its SoC. Google’s next-gen smartwatch will replace the Exynos 9110 chipset with a more powerful and efficient Qualcomm chip. The processor in question is the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1, which features four Cortex A-53 cores that run at 1.7GHz along with a newer Adreno 702 for graphics. Similar to the first Pixel Watch, the chip will also be paired with a custom coprocessor based on an NXP chip. Google will also offer the Pixel Watch 2 in two variants, namely LTE and Wi-Fi that is codenamed “Eos” and “Aurora” like Apple and Samsung.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 will be more power efficient as well, which hints at the Pixel Watch 2 offering improved battery life over its predecessor. The first-gen Pixel Watch had a 294mAh battery capacity, which is seeing a modest bump of 4 percent as the Pixel Watch 2 will be powered by a 306mAh battery pack. On paper, this doesn’t appear to offer noticeable improvements, but the more efficient chipset could help improve the overall endurance of the Watch 2.
New display but the bezels remain
Apart from the battery life, another major point of criticism for the original Pixel Watch was its chunky bezels. The Pixel Watch 2 is expected to feature an updated panel, however, it appears that the pesky bezels will make a reappearance. Google’s Pixel Watch 2 will offer the same screen real estate with a 1.2-inch OLED panel with 384 x 384 resolution. This screen is being made by Samsung, replacing BOE which supplied the first Pixel Watch. The updated panel may also enable certain battery-saving features and higher brightness.
Faster and seamless updates
The report adds that the Pixel Watch 2 will run on Wear OS 4 out of the box, which is based on Android 13. So we can expect to see improvements alongside dynamic themes. Notably, this model will be the first-ever smartwatch that supports seamless updates as well. To elaborate, the watch will update the OS in the background while the watch still runs on the older version. The smartwatch will switch to the newer version once the user reboots the device. Although, this will lead to higher storage being occupied.
UWB on the Pixel Watch 2
A major new feature in the Pixel Watch 2 is the addition of UWB (Ultra-Wide Band) technology. The smartwatch houses an NXP SR100T UWB module. For those unaware, this technology is often used for precise device-finding features. Meaning, it is pretty useful for those that tend to misplace their gadgets. As Google is working to improve its Find My Devices network, it isn’t surprising that the Pixel Watch 2 will support UWB as well. Apart from location data, the feature also enables the watch to double as a Digital Car key, which is supported by various major automobile brands.
Retail Animation
AndroidAuthority also shared a retail animation, which will likely be showcased on demo units on the Pixel Watch 2. This animation is basically built to attract customers and features cool animation in the Material style.
