Insta360 X3 360° Action Camera Review: A Revolutionary Versatile Camera For Everyone

Insta360 X3

This, is the most versatile camera that I’ve ever used, the Insta360 X3 360° action camera. It doesn’t mean that it’s for everyone, but I believe that when you’ve experienced it, you will definitely find your own fun in it. The greatest trick of this powerful action camera is the dual high-resolution cameras back to back. With these two lenses, users can have great possibilities to shoot all kinds of creative clips that the other cameras can’t do. I even doubt that the brand developed this product in a way that is able to fully predict how users would use it to create content.

Design

So let’s check out how it works. The two lenses each feature a half-inch SONY IMX586 sensor, which used to be popular on camera phones. Now the dual-lens setup brings a new life to the classic sensor.

They are each recording an extremely wide-angle video that stretches way back, actually with views of beyond 180 degrees. Then the algorithm combines the two feeds shot on them into an almost perfect shooting of 360 degrees, though there’s a bit of overlap at the seams. What makes it really amazing is that the camera knows where the mounting point is and what their mounting equipment like selfie sticks looks like, so it can remove that out of the video. So even mounted with a selfie stick, the Insta360 X3 feels like a viewpoint hovering in the air. You don’t need to worry about the shooting angle, as it does create a real-time spherical capture. And you will decide the camera angle and movement including panning, tilting, zooming, and rolling in post-editing.

insta360 x3 dual cameras

In a very hurried shot, you just need to decide where it should be in the air. It can be placed or mounted in a fixed position, follow any object in motion with a mounting accessory, or even complete the traversal of the lens movement with a 33-foot-long selfie stick like a drone.

300cm selife stick for insta360 X3

Compared to its predecessors, the very important upgrade is the 2.29-inch touchscreen, by far the largest of any insta360 camera allowing the user to easily control the camera settings. On the side of the camera, there’re doors holding the upgraded 1800mAh battery, microSD card slot, and USB port. Since there’s no built-in storage, it doesn’t support in-camera recording. As you can see, one detail that may be inconvenient is that you must first take out the battery before you install or remove the storage card. Or there’s a USB-C storage dock available, with which you can have off-camera recording, but also convenient to take it down and plug it directly into the phone for editing.

Capture

The Insta360 X3 has up to 5.7K resolution for 360° video shooting, allowing users to capture stunningly detailed images with vibrant colors. In addition to the Vivid and standard color modes, it also supports log colors. But here I still recommend using Vivid or standard colors to create content, as it looks really great in daylight and is much easier for post-coloring. A surprise I found from the clips is the decent dynamic range, which does offer a pretty natural brightness transition. By the way, in certain modes like time-lapse, the X3 can shoot at 8K resolution.

The cameras feature FlowState stabilization technology which helps reduce shake and blur in videos without sacrificing image quality or field of view (FOV). Additionally, both cameras also feature Horizon Lock mode which keeps your horizon level even if you move around during filming.

Actually, it’s pretty easy to shoot the whole spherical footage. Whether you can turn the footage into stunning creations depends on your spatial imagination and skills in using the software of Insta360 studio.

Software on Phones & PCs

The most convenient way to edit those spherical videos is using the phone app, where you can easily find a bunch of effects and shot patterns to follow, such as different sports or vlog patterns, sky swap, time-lapse, bullet time and so on. To post anything different on social media, it’s perfect and the render time is also surprisingly good, which is even faster than any video-editing tools I’ve ever used.

If you are a professional content creator who wants to edit the clips in detail with the best image quality and the best additional stabilization effects, the Insta360 Studio for PC will be a better and more powerful tool. There’re more options for desktops to upload to social media at higher resolutions than via phones. What’s even more convenient is that you can transfer the shots to Adobe Premiere Pro with the plug-in and edit in the adobe software.

Wide Accessories for Insta360 X3

The Insta360 X3 has great accessories that help secure mounting, such as tripods, standard selfie stick, extremely long selfie stick to shoot drone views, and all kinds of mounts. Unlike some action cameras requiring a waterproof case, the X3’s body is already waterproof to 10 meters without attaching a diving case. But if you still want more secure protection underwater, they also have optional waterproof housings for underwater use.

Verdict

In the actual shooting experience, the brand-new versatile camera is revolutionary. Especially when working with insta360’s software, no matter the phone app or the studio PC app, from the simplest to the most complicated work, it really feels sick. It’s so clever to present such a complex job to everyone’s phone. Once you export any video that’s edited under its guidance, you’ll probably be amazed at such a new perspective. It will even become a motivational tool to encourage you to try new sports with shots from different angles, and locations that most humans have never seen before.

We had never rated a product as an essential tool for shooting vlogs. But the X3 is, and at least for now, there is no 360° camera that works better than the Insta360 X3. So that’s almost all about the revolutionary camera.

Resident Evil 4 Remake Demo is Now Live Everywhere, Game Drops March 24

The Resident Evil game franchise is one of the most iconic horror video game series of all time. Developed by Capcom, the series began in the year 1996 with the release of the first game on the PlayStation console. Since then, the franchise has had multiple sequels and spin-offs, as well as adaptations to other forms of media such as films, comics, and novels. The series is known for its intense survival gameplay, where players must navigate through dangerous environments filled with zombies, monsters, and other supernatural threats while solving puzzles and collecting resources to survive. With its gripping storytelling, memorable characters, and thrilling gameplay, the Resident Evil franchise has become a staple in the video game industry and a beloved favourite. Fans of the game will be delighted to know that a demo for Resident Evil 4 Remake is available on Xbox, PlayStation and Steam for everyone to try.

Resident Evil 4

The highly anticipated Resident Evil 4 remake is set to launch on March 24th, and Capcom has recently dropped a Chainsaw Demo, available for free on PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Steam. This demo takes players through the early stages of the game, as they join Leon, the protagonist, in his mission to investigate the spreading infection in a small Spanish village. Unlike other game demos, there’s no rush to complete it, so players are encouraged to explore every nook and cranny at their own pace.

Capcom has been known for its exceptional remakes of the Resident Evil series. Their previous remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, released in 2019 and 2020 respectively, were praised for their stunning graphics and innovative gameplay mechanics. Resident Evil 4, originally released in 2005 on GameCube, marked a pivotal point in the series by moving towards an action-oriented gameplay style instead of the traditional puzzle-solving and atmosphere focus. The game introduced a unique over-the-shoulder perspective that became the standard for action-horror games of that era, and its influence can still be seen in modern games, including the RE2 and RE3 remakes.

Fans of the series can expect the Resident Evil 4 remake to be released on March 24th for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, promising to deliver the same excitement and terror that made the original game a classic.

Hyundai Kona EV Comes Revamped With More Room and a Longer Range

Hyundai has revamped the Kona EV with greater room and a longer range. The original Kona EV was a compact electric crossover but came with a shorter range. The new model seems to have restored the appeal of the Kona with its improved range and more room inside the EV.

Hyundai Kona EV

The new entry Kona EV will expectedly compete favorably with some of the models that had displaced the original Kona such as the Ioniq 5. This comes after several months of peeks into the model. The revamped Kona EV has a sleeker design than its predecessor. There are improvements in the powertrain as well as interior innovations. The model has a 65.4kWh battery option that delivers a range of 304 miles via the WLTP testing cycle. Although the EPA testing range will be more conservative, it will be significantly higher than the 258 miles from the gen-1 Kona EV.

The revamped Hyundai Kona EV has a larger interior space than the current model. It also has more storage (up to 17 cubic feet of trunk space) and features a front trunk and several in-cabin tech features. It has an optional heads-up display but this will not be available in North America. There are, however, dual 12.3-inch screens and OTA software updates, as well as NFC-based digital key support.

The new Kona EV features battery preconditioning for improved charging times and cold weather range. The model’s vehicle-to-load support lets you power devices both inside and outside of the EV. The car also features the i-Pedal one-pedal driving but the model lacks the 800W architecture currently in some of its competition. It will therefore take 41 minutes to charge the battery from 10% to 80%.

Hyundai has not released the pricing details for the Kona EV but says the ICE and hybrid versions of the Kona will continue to exist with the EV. The Kona EV will berth in the US by the third quarter of this year.

Huawei P60 Pro Stunning Camera Sample Outed by Huawei’s CEO

Huawei Chief Executive Richard Yu has shared a photo allegedly from the yet-to-be-released Huawei P60 Pro. Although the random photo was highlighted as coming from an unnamed upcoming phone, it is rumored to be the P60 Pro. This is a silver lining amid an extended period of turbulence for the formerly global-leading tech powerhouse.

Huawei P60 Pro Camera Sample

Huawei has continued to recover from the debilitating sanction regime by the United States which almost destroyed the company. The illuminating image is believed to have emanated from the telephoto camera of the P60 Pro. This was indicated in the Weibo post that signposted the photo. It also comes after the release of a batch of images from the same smartphone last week.

The released photos point to an imminent launch of the Huawei P60 Pro. The smartphone’s camera reportedly features a 64MP OmniVision OV64B sensor and a 3.5x magnification lens. The sensor has an RYYB color filter which is common with Huawei smartphones. The P60 Pro will also feature dual 50MP sensors for the main and ultra-wide cameras. It is also rumored that the smartphone will have a 6.6-inch QHD” display with a high refresh rate of 120Hz. The phone will come with a 5,000mAh battery with 100W charging.

Huawei P60 Pro

As expected, the Huawei P60 Pro will run on Huawei’s HarmonyOS 3.0 and is rated IP68. It was earlier reported that the phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. Subsequent rumors however point to a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2. The model will be restricted to 4G, as Huawei still lacks access to 5G chips.

The camera shot shared by Huawei’s CEO has an impressive outlook. The phone had a sufficient dynamic range that covered both the artificially lit building on a pitch-black background and also captured the detail of the moon. The Huawei P60 series will be unveiled later this month. The lineup will include a vanilla model, as well as the Pro model.

Talk About Speed: Infinix debuts 260W Wired and 110W Wireless Charging

Smartphone charging technologies continue evolving and brands keep on pushing the envelope further. Realme recently introduced its groundbreaking 240W charging technology with the latest GT 3 smartphone. Taking things to a new level, Infinix has today unveiled its new 260W wired and 110W wireless charging tech. The company has also confirmed that the new charging solution will debut with an upcoming Infinix Note smartphone this year. Here are the details.

According to the company, the 260W wired charging solution can fill a battery from 0 to 25% in only one minute and can reach 100% in just 8 minutes. The new technology involves a single 12C battery with a 4-pump circuit design that can identify power requirements and allocate the number of charge pumps accordingly. The charging efficiency is said to be 98.5% and a 4,400 mAh battery used in the test was able to retain 90% of its initial capacity after 1,000 cycles.

260W-110W-Wireless-All-Round-FastCharge

The charging technology employs an adaptor that utilizes both GaN material and AHB circuit infrastructure to achieve high power density and small size. The cable is also custom-made to carry a current of up to 13A to ensure blazing-fast 260W charging.

The 110W wireless charging solution developed by Infinix is also quite impressive as we normally don’t see wireless charging going above 50W. The technology utilized in this charging solution involves custom-made, small, sensitive coils with varying architectures. There are fewer but wider coils in the same space, resulting in lower internal resistance. This, in turn, reduces the amount of heat generated by the phone when charging.

In addition to wired and wireless charging, the new standard also supports reverse charging, bypass charging, and multi-protocol charging. It is compatible with other protocols, including Power Delivery 3.0.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra Narrowly Wins Drop Test Against iPhone 14 Pro Max

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S23 Ultra last month. It is the brand’s strongest smartphone equipped with an armour aluminium frame and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on both the front and rear. A comprehensive durability test by JerryRigEverything rendered the smartphone structurally sound. Now, another YouTuber PhoneBuff has stacked the Galaxy S23 Ultra against the iPhone 14 Pro Max in a drop test. For those unaware, the latter features a ceramic shield glass and stainless steel frame.

The test by PhoneBuff has four rounds of drop tests. In the first round both the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and iPhone 14 Pro Max were dropped flat on their backs. It shattered the rear glass of the back panel completely and a dent was also seen on its rear camera lens. Meanwhile, the S23 Ultra suffered slight cracks around two corners. In round two’s corner drop test, the iPhone 14 Pro Max performed better as the stainless steel frame received minor scratches. In comparison, the S23 Ultra’s aluminium frame suffered more damage. The third round included both phones falling on the concrete floor flat on their front. The screens on both devices were shattered but we could notice it to be more on the S23 Ultra. The Face ID on iPhone and the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner on the Ultra were working perfectly fine.

In the fourth and final bonus test, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and iPhone 14 Pro Max were dropped face-down on a metal surface and that too from a higher height than the previous rounds. The iPhone 14 Pro Max suffered significant damage with parts of its protective glass missing. Additionally, both the front and rear cameras showed some light flares.

After grading across all four rounds the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra scored 38 points, two more than the iPhone 14 Pro winning the test by a narrow margin.
