Xiaomi 13 Pro vs OPPO Reno9 Pro+: Specs Comparison

Xiaomi officially announced its top-tier flagship phones for 2023. The Xiaomi 13 Series includes the amazing Xiaomi 13 Pro: a premium flagship with very few rivals and maxed-out specifications. A few days ago, OPPO launched a new high-end phone as well, even though it is not its main flagship for 2023 as the Find X6 Series will debut in the first quarter of next year. We are referring to the OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus, the most advanced Reno phone ever seen, with flagship-class specifications. While it may be kinda obvious to a lot of people which one is the best, it is harder to decide which one to buy if we consider that these phones are sold in different price ranges but they offer similar performances. Here is a comparison between the main specifications of the Xiaomi 13 Pro and the OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus that will help you.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES 5G, dual SIM, IP68 certification, reverse wireless charging 10W 5G, dual SIM

Design

Even though it is a more affordable device, the OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus is way better than the Xiaomi 13 Pro if we talk about the design. It has an amazingly thin body with a thickness of just 8 mm and a weight of 192 grams, it is very elegant and it has a minimalistic camera module. But with the Xiaomi 13 Pro, you get better materials and better build quality. It is a phone with a ceramic back and an aluminum frame, with a front glass protected by Gorilla Glass Victus. It is also waterproof with the IP68 certification: finally, Xiaomi released a waterproof phone! On the other hand, it is thicker, heavier, and even uglier in my honest opinion.

Display

The display found on the Xiaomi 13 Pro is superior to the one found on the OPPO Reno 9 Pro+. It is an OLED panel able to show up to one billion colors with a diagonal of 6.73 inches, a Quad HD+ resolution of 1440 x 3200 pixels, the LTPO technology enabling an adaptive refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz, Dolby Vision support, HDR10+ certification, and an in-display fingerprint reader. However, the OPPO Reno 9 Pro Plus does not have a disappointing display: it sports an AMOLED panel showing up to one billion colors with a diagonal of 6.7 inches, a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2412 pixels, a 120 Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ certification, and an in-display fingerprint scanner.

Specs & Software

The Xiaomi 13 Pro is equipped with a better processor, the best out there alongside the Dimensity 9200. We are talking about the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 built with a 4 nm production process and sporting an octa-core architecture, running at a max frequency of 3.2 GHz. Alongside the chipset, there are up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of UFS 4.0 native storage. But the OPPO Reno9 Pro+ is not so far with its Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset built at 4 nm and running at a max frequency of 3 GHz. Further, it has a higher quantity of RAM: 16 GB, alongside 512 GB of native UFS 3.1 storage. Both phones run Android 13 out of the box, but with different user interfaces on top: MIUI 14 and ColorOS 13, respectively.

Camera

The camera hardware of the Xiaomi 13 Pro beats the OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus easily. It has a triple camera made in cooperation with Leica including a 50.3 MP 1-inch main sensor with OIS (the Sony IMX989), a 50 MP telephoto lens with 3.2x optical zoom, and a 50 MP ultrawide shooter. The OPPO Reno 9 Pro Plus sports a 50 MP main sensor (the Sony IMX890) aided by OIS and the MariSilicon X proprietary NPU enhancing night photography. However, the secondary sensors are poor: an 8 MP ultrawide camera and a 2 MP macro lens.

Battery

The Xiaomi 13 Pro has a bigger battery, however, the difference is not big. But it charges a lot quicker thanks to 120W fast charging.

Price

The starting price of the Xiaomi 13 Pro roughly translates into $745/€700 (8/128 GB), while the OPPO Reno 9 Pro Plus starts from about $649/€610 (16/256 GB). Which one would you pick?

Xiaomi 13 Pro vs OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus: PRO and CONS

Xiaomi 13 Pro

PRO

  • Bigger battery
  • Faster charging
  • Great display
  • Better cameras
  • UFS 4.0 storage
  • Waterproof

CONS

  • Uglier design

OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus

If the user continues to publish inappropriate comments, YouTube may prohibit them from posting for up to 24 hours, according to a post made at TeamYouTube and signed “Rob.” According to Rob’s post, “Our testing has shown that these warnings/timeouts lower the risk that people would leave violative comments again.” Currently, the notice is only accessible for English comments, but Rob says they plan to expand it to additional languages soon. Additionally, the business has enhanced its capacity to recognise bots in live chats and spam in comments.

This year, a number of creators, including Jacksepticeye, MKBHD, and Linus Tech Tips, have all produced videos about comment spam. Although spam can take many different forms, you might encounter waves of copied-and-pasted remarks, remarks that impersonate well-known producers, or scams involving products like Robux. YouTube has responded by introducing a method to make comment moderation more stringent and is eliminating techniques that allow people to mimic creators. Now, it is also adding a notice for spammers. We really hope these steps would lower the spam rates.

Xiaomi shows that using toothpaste on cracked smartphone screen is actually harmful

There have been various tales of tricks or hacks that seemingly help smartphone users after their devices are damaged. A notable example of putting it in rice after it got submerged in water. However, Xiaomi has come out to disprove one such ancient myth. So let’s have a look.

The Chinese tech giant took to YouTube to share a video on the new Shorts format to disprove that the myth of using toothpaste to fix your scratch or cracked display. The old rumors used to claim that using toothpaste basically fills in the gaps in the screen and polish the convex part of the display to make it smooth and almost good as new again. But in the video, we can clearly see that there was no difference or improvement in the scratches in the smartphone that was tested on.

Xiaomi

Rather, Xiaomi added that this age old tip actually does more harm than good. The company stated that the toothpaste is at times a polishing agent, however, the micro particles in the paste can not effectively repair the cracks in the screen. Furthermore, toothpaste is actually an alkaline substance, which might destroy the acidic resistance of the oleophobic coating on top of the smartphone’s display overtime. This layer is basically applied on smartphones display to help keep dust and fingerprint smudges away thanks to oils secreted by the human body. The brand also recommended that one should rather go to Xiaomi’s official customer care to deal with such problems.

Realme GT Neo 5 Leaked Renders Give Us A First Look At The Smartphone

Realme GT Neo 5 has appeared in leaked renders. Reliable tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer aka Onleaks in collaboration with publication SmartPrix have shared images of the device. The renders give us a first look at the smartphone. The Realme GT Neo 5 is expected to arrive as the successor to the Realme GT Neo 3 that debuted earlier in March this year. The brand is expected to skip the GT Neo 4 moniker since the number ‘4’ is considered unlucky in China.

As seen in the renders, the Realme GT Neo 5 will come with a new design language compared to its predecessor. The back panel has a dual-toned design with the camera module in Black colour and the rest in the White paint job. It has an elongated rectangular island that also houses another vertical rectangular module. The latter is slightly protruding and accommodates two rings. The first one has a primary sensor whereas two lenses are seen in the second circle. There is an LED flash unit beside the cameras. We can also spot Matrix AI text but it’s unclear what that means.

The Realme GT Neo 5 has a power button on the right side of the device. We assume the volume rocker keys are on the left edge. The renders reveal the device with a slim form factor and curved edges on the back panel. The smartphone is seen in White colour option but we can expect more at launch.

Apart from the design, the report does not reveal any additional details of the Realme GT Neo 5. Past leaks suggest that the device will come in two battery and charging speed options i.e. 5,000mAh with 150W and 4,600mAh with 240W charging. The smartphone is rumoured to come with a Sony IMX890 main camera with OIS support.
