Personal Information of 500 Million WhatsApp Users Has Been Stolen

WhatsApp is one of the most popular applications in the world. Every day, billions of people communicate through this application. But popularity brings with it some security problems. A new report suggests that someone has hacked WhatsApp and stolen the personal information of around 500 million users.

Ads are coming to WhatsApp eventually - Gizmochina

The personal information of 500 million WhatsApp users is up for sale

According to the latest report from Cybernews, an actor posted an ad in a hacking community forum to sell the data of over 487 million WhatsApp users, including their mobile numbers. The listing also claims that data consists of users from 84 different countries and includes user data of 32 million users from the USA. The list of compromised information also contains user data from countries like Egypt, Italy, Saudi Arabia, France, and Turkey.

Hackers even created a price list for the personal information in question. For example, the WhatsApp user database in the US sells for $7,000. The UK’s database is $2,500, and Germany’s is $2,000. Unfortunately, leaked phone numbers can be used for many different scams. Relatively older users, in particular, are at great risk.

Meta, the umbrella company of WhatsApp, has not yet made a statement. Everyone is wondering, “how did hackers get this information?”. The application is protected by end-to-end encryption and stands out with its security. However, the incident led to the thought that WhatsApp is not secure.

Also, it is currently speculated that the WhatsApp data of around 500 million has been obtained using web scraping or web harvesting, where an automated data tool is used to collect data from a specific service, which violates WhatsApp’s terms of service. Unfortunately, we can’t share definitive information until an official statement from the company is received.

Last year in December, Xiaomi unveiled the Xiaomi 12X, Xiaomi 12, and Xiaomi 12 Pro. It appears that there won’t be any successor for the Xiaomi 12X this year. The upcoming flagship lineup will include two models, namely the Xiaomi 13 and the Xiaomi 13 Pro.

Shown below is a leaked render of the Xiaomi 13. The image gives a good look at the design and color variants of the phone. Since the Xiaomi 13 Pro will be a larger version of the Xiaomi 13, both phones are expected to sport an identical design.

Leaked Huawei Watch Buds Packaging & Live Images Reveal an Earbuds Compartment

A leaked retail packaging of the Huawei Watch Buds shows that the smartwatch comes with removable earbuds. If confirmed, the presence of built-in earbuds in the Huawei Watch Buds could mark a significant milestone. This comes on the heels of the recent release of the Huawei Watch GT Cyber. Apart from the removable earbuds, the leaked packaging also shows the hinged display of the Watch Buds.

https://www.huaweicentral.com/huawei-watch-buds-leak-shows-earbuds-inside-a-smartwatch/

Huawei has released several smartwatches in 2022, the latest being the Watch GT Cyber with a modular design. Although there has been no official confirmation about the Watch Buds, the new smartwatch could be unique. Its name also points to the possible presence of earbuds in its architecture.

Huawei Watch Buds

After its April listing by the European Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), the Watch Buds has been off the front burner of speculations until now. A photo of the Watch Buds has surfaced on multiple social media platforms. The image bears some striking semblance to the Watch GT 3 and the hinged display supports the placement or removal of a pair of earbuds.

Huawei Watch Buds

The Huawei Watch Buds could be the first smartwatch to feature built-in earbuds, but a few companies have attempted the idea previously. Some of the knotty considerations for such hybrid products are the optimum form factor and battery size. There is also the issue of the space needed to store the earbuds. It is unclear what Huawei might have done to overcome the battery size issue. There are also no indications yet on the launch date of the Watch Buds.

Tesla Gets Trolled as Coca-Cola Takes Delivery of Its Renault Electric Delivery Trucks

Soft drinks giant Coca-Cola has unveiled its battery-powered Renault trucks ahead of Pepsi’s release of the Tesla Semi. Pepsi is scheduled to begin its delivery operations with the Tesla Semi on December 1.

Renault Electric Trucks

Renault Trucks, the manufacturer of the new Coke delivery trucks had previously mocked Tesla’s Elon Musk about the release of the Semi. While Pepsi is setting up its Megacharger station, Coca-Cola has already commenced operations with its new electric trucks in Belgium. Both long-haul EV trucks by Renault and Tesla mark their entry into the heavy-duty end of the EV industry. Tesla CEO Elon Musk has made several failed promises concerning the release of the Semi since 2017. This year, however, it is expected to debut with 15 trucks to its first customer Pepsi by December 1.

The Renault trucks released to Coca-Cola in Belgium are of the E-Tech D et D Wide model with a likely shorter range than the Tesla Semi. The Renault electric rigs will be deployed for last-mile deliveries by Coke. The model was custom-designed to suit Coca-Cola’s logistic data on deliveries, according to Renault Trucks. The trucks provide energy efficiency, comfort, and safety for drivers. They are also equipped with 360-degree camera systems to eliminate bind spots, a clear door on the passenger side, and a loudspeaker to warn pedestrians and cyclists.

The Renault rigs have a range of 200km on a single charge, compared to the 150km average route distance for diesel delivery trucks. The trucks can be charged overnight from dedicated piles using green energy for the top-ups generated on-site.

Renault says it is expanding the public charging infrastructure in Europe through several strategic partnerships. It hopes to deliver a true competitor to the Tesla Semi in 2023. The new electric truck will come with a much longer range than the electric rigs deployed by Coca-Cola.

Xiaomi 13 Front Design Revealed with Flat Screen & Flat Sides – Leak

After rumours broke out regarding Xiaomi launching its Xiaomi 13 flagship smartphones as soon as this Thursday (December 1st, 2022), it seems that more images about the devices have started to appear online. This time, a credible source from China has shared a very real life-like render image that shows off the standard Xiaomi 13 device’s front design.

Source: AIUV Planet on Weibo

The leaked photo was posted by the official AIUV Planet Weibo account. AIUV Planet is a well-known smartphone case manufacturer in China, and their latest Weibo post that they shared indirectly confirms the front design of the standard Xiaomi 13.

Captioned with “protected in our company’s armour casing”, the Xiaomi 13 shown here seems to sport a flat AMOLED screen with a centred punch hole on top of the display, housing the device’s single selfie camera. In addition to the flat screen, it seems the aluminium chassis is now sporting flat sides as well.

If the case render image is true, it seems that the standard Xiaomi 13 will be a big departure in design in comparison to the standard Xiaomi 12 last year which launched with a curved 120Hz AMOLED screen, and curved sides for a more comfortable in-hand feel.

Xiaomi 13 Case Render. Source: Weibo

In addition, the image also reveals that the earpiece speaker is still on top of the display, with the power button and volume buttons located on the right side of the device. The image also showcases the narrow side bezels on the left, right and top of the device, whilst leaving the bottom bezel to be revealed later by Xiaomi themselves.

Besides the vanilla Xiaomi 13, the Xiaomi 13 series is also expected to feature two more members in the family: the Xiaomi 13 Pro and Xiaomi 13 Ultra. These 2 devices are expected to sport more premium displays that feature a bezel-less curved design, alongside a more potent camera system that can trade blows with the best in the industry.

Redmi K60 Series to Include Redmi K60, K60 Pro and K60E, Specifications Leaked

The upcoming Redmi K60 flagship series is expected to debut sometime in December; however, no official date has yet been set. While we are still waiting for an official confirmation, a new report has revealed the upcoming premium series will include three models—the standard Redmi K60, the higher-end Redmi K60 Pro, and the Redmi K60E. Oddly enough, the vanilla model is claimed to pack a better chipset than the Pro phone. Here are all the details.

Kacper Skrzypek shared some interesting details about the forthcoming Redmi K60 series in his recent tweet. He says the lineup will feature the Redmi K60, the Redmi K60 Pro, and the Redmi K60E models. As per the leaker, the vanilla model, codenamed “Socrates,” will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor.

Further, Skrzypek says the Pro model (codenamed “Mondrian”) will feature the older Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. It’s strange because the higher-end model usually has a better chipset.

The Redmi K60E, which the company might call the Redmi K60 Extreme, is said to be equipped with a MediaTek chipset, probably the Dimensity 8200 or Dimensity 9200. The handset has the codename “Rembrandt”.

A recent 3C listing of the three handsets revealed only one of them, likely the Pro model, will support 120W fast charging. The rest two devices will have 67W fast charging. The listing suggests the launch of the Redmi K60 Series is fast approaching.

As mentioned, the new Redmi smartphones could launch in China in December. The handsets are also expected to arrive in the global market. Currently, there’s no official confirmation from the brand. However, we can expect an announcement soon. Stick around for the updates.
