OnePlus Tablet Launch Tipped Again

We have been hearing about OnePlus releasing a tablet since mid-2021. For the past one and a half years, there have been multiple leaks regarding this product.

The last when we heard about it was in July 2022. A tech influencer revealed that the device has been delayed and it may release in early 2023.

Four months later, a reliable source now reiterates the same.

Oppo Pad
Oppo Pad

According to tipster Max Jambor, OnePlus is developing a tablet. This product is scheduled to release next year. Unfortunately, this is all he has to say.

Previous reports revealed that OnePlus’ first tablet could go by OnePlus Pad. They also suggested that it could be a better version of the Oppo Pad.

But now, it seems that OnePlus may have abandoned that product. Else, the device should have been released by now.

Therefore, we believe that the OnePlus tablet that is tipped to launch in 2023 could be a new product. At present, it’s not known whether it will be a unique device or a rebadged version of Oppo’s current or upcoming tablet.

Whatever it turns out to be, we are looking forward to learning more about it in the coming weeks. If OnePlus is indeed planning for a release, the device should start leaking via certifications, firmware, and even renders.

Until then, do let us know what you want from a OnePlus-branded tablet in the comment section below.

Apple Supplier to Increase Workforce in India to Meet iPhone Demand: Report

Apple supplier Foxconn is apparently planning on raising its workforce in India. The supplier is making this move to help raise production, which in turn, would enable it to meet the high iPhone demand in the market.

The Cupertino based giant’s largest supplier is planning on quadrupling its workforce in India. Foxconn is apparently going to raise the number of workers for its iPhone factory by such a large amount in India over the course of the next two years, as per two government officials (Via TheHindu) close to the matter. Interestingly enough, this news arrives after the iPhone maker saw disruptions in its production in China due to local lockdowns.

Apple

For those unaware, Foxconn’s largest iPhone plant in Zhengzhou, China was closed down due to the Chinese government imposing a local lockdown due to the coronavirus outbreak. This caused operations to halt abruptly and also lowered Apple’s shipment expectations for its latest iPhone 14 series models in the fourth and final quarter of this year. So now, Foxconn is reportedly planning on boosting its workforce in its plant in South India to 70,000. In other words, it would have to bring in more than 53,000 new workers overt he next two years.

While the new hiring would mark a significant scale up in production in the Tamil Nadu plant in India, Foxconn’s Zhengzhou is still its largest iPhone plant that employees a whopping 200,000 workers. Meaning, we can expect this move from Foxconn to be a way to dampen the blow of its largest plant being closed down temporarily. It would also help it deal with any possible future lockdowns in the region by growing its workforce in India.

SpaceX Buys Massive Ad Campaign Package on Twitter for Starlink

SpaceX has just placed a massive order for an advertisement package on Twitter. This ad campaign from Elon Musk’s aerospace based company will be run for the company’s Starlink, satellite internet connectivity based brand.

Interestingly, Elon Musk had also recently acquired the popular microblogging website for a 44 billion US Dollars deal. Now, the billionaire’s aerospace company is buying an ad campaign on Twitter in Spain and Australia. These large ad packages were bought to promote the company’s satellite based internet brand called Starlink. This ad campaign is apparently called “takeover” and will be promoted on Twitter in the two regions. According to a CNBC report, purchasing one of these advertisement packages will cost one a massive sum of 250,000 US Dollars or more.

SpaceX

Furthermore, it would also offer buyers the right to put their brand name on top of the main Twitter timeline for one whole day. This news arrives from one current and former Twitter employee that wished to stay anonymous. So now, Twitter users can expect to see the Starlink brand ad for the first three times that they open the application on the day or even on days of the planned takeover campaign. But this is still limited to just Australia and Spain.

For those unaware, Starlink is an internet service provider that offers connectivity through a constellation of satellites that beam internet down to paying subscribers. SpaceX developed Starlink with the aim of offering high speed internet connectivity to people in remote regions that suffer from poor internet due to a lack of cable or optic fiber infrastructure.

Apple Could Be Working on a Rival for Metaverse

A new report had hinted at Apple working on an interesting new project. With Meta (parent company of Facebook) aggressively pushing its Metaverse out, it appears that the iPhone maker is also working on its own version of the Metaverse.

As of right now, many are still waiting for the Cupertino based giant to announce its highly anticipated AR/VR based headset, which will be the brand’s latest line of consumer electronic products. However, its launch is only rumored and the company has yet to reveal any launch timeline for this device. Although previous rumors have hinted at the mixed reality headset launching sometime in Spring 2023. But according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the company isn’t planning on stopping with a simple new hardware release.

Apple

The new report claims that Apple has already begun working on a whole “3D mixed reality world” and is currently in the process of hiring talents for this project. In other words, the brand is launching its own alternative to the metaverse to rival Meta in the mixed reality world category. Furthermore, Gurman based the news on Apple’s latest job listings. Apparently, the company is working on its own version of the Metaverse, which will be based on both virtual reality and augmented reality.

So it would appear that the upcoming AR/VR headset launch might be the brand’s first step into this endeavor. Interestingly enough, the search engine giant, Google, is also believed to be working on a mixed reality headset as well. Meaning that all three American tech giants are entering into the new mixed reality future, which Tim Cook hinted at being “the next big thing.”

Huawei Denies Rumors of Its P60 Series Featuring Kirin Chips in 2023

Huawei has recently officially denied that it will be bringing back its proprietary HiSilicon Kirin series of chipsets for its next gen flagship P60 lineup of smartphones. So here are all the details.

For those unaware, the Chinese tech giant lost access to all US based technology after the US government put it on the trade blacklist, or the Entity List. A year after this, the company was also cut off from its primary chip supplier TSMC. This meant that it could no longer place orders for its proprietary chipset technology for its HiSilicon fabless semiconductor subsidiary. But since then, it shifted to using Qualcomm chipsets like the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoCs, however, these only supported 4G networking and were not 5G enabled.

Huawei

But recently, rumors surfaced that the brand might be planning on bringing its Kiring chips back in 2023, for its flagship Huawei P60 series. The news arrives from a statement that the company shared on its official Weibo account (a Chinese microblogging website). Here, the brand denies rumors of releasing a new Kirin chipset powered smartphone next year. THe original rumor surfaced earlier this year and claimed that the new P60 models will feature Kirin processors, which were reportedly based on the 14nm process.

Furthermore, it was rumored that China’s largest foundry, SMIC, will be the one manufacturing the chips. In other words, we can expect the flagship P60 series of smartphone to possibly be powered by high end Qualcomm chipsets like the supposed Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. Keep in mind that this is still unconfirmed at the moment, so take this news with a pinch of salt.

Samsung Reportedly Plans To Reduce Its Smartphone Shipments By 13%

Samsung, the world’s leading smartphone maker for years, has not been able to sell as many smartphone units as it had planned because of several reasons, including the supply-chain issue caused by COVID-19 and the dull economic outlook in several countries.

As global smartphone shipments have declined, affecting almost all companies, the South Korean giant Samsung isn’t immune. A new report from Taiwan Economic Daily (via ITHome) claims that the company plans on reducing its smartphone shipments next year.

Samsung Logo

As per the report, Samsung is planning to reduce its smartphone shipments in the year 2023 by 13 percent, which roughly turns out to be 30 million units. This is mainly because of the decline in the smartphone market, because of which the company isn’t able to sell as many smartphones as it had planned, and the market continues to see weaker demand.

While Samsung was able to increase its market share in terms of shipments for the third quarter of this year (Q3 2022) compared to the previous quarter (Q2 2022), the company saw an overall decline of around eight percent when compared year-on-year.

It isn’t just Samsung that is bearish on the market situation. Some smartphone component suppliers, including Japan-based Murata and Taiwan-based Yageo, Tongxin Electic, and Duntai, among others, also share similar sentiments.

Murata, a leader in passive component MLCC (Multilayer Ceramic Capacitors), which provides electronic modules and components for Apple iPhone, Samsung smartphones, and others, has warned that smartphone demand in Greater China will not show signs of recovery and it will continue to see the decline next year.

Tongxin Electric, a mobile phone sensor component supplier, has said that it may need more than two to three quarters to destock. The company estimates that in the second quarter of next year or at the end of the third quarter, the related business of the company will rebound.
