Google Pixel Watch App Update Brings New Fitbit Upgrades & bug fixes

Google had launched its first ever smartwatch, the Pixel Watch, over a month. Now, the company is rolling our the first ever update for its companion app to offer fixes and upgrades to the new wearable product. So here are all the details.

The new Pixel Watch app update from the Search Engine giant is called the November 2022 Pixel Watch app update and brings bug fixes and various improvements. The changes are primarily focused on three areas for improved “Fitbit experiences and integration.” First, it has added the Fitbit integration setting on the App’s home screen itself. Furthermore, it has also made it easier to setup through single tap from within the Pixel Watch app. The Fitbit sync information has also been made accessible via the home screen.

Google

The latest update for the Pixel Watch app also brings bug fixes to the eSIM setup process as well. Lastly, Google is also bringing new additions to Tips and Support section within the Pixel Watch app. So now, users can watch a 3D tutorial of the Watch right after the OOBE. Notably, the change that is more immediately visible is the Fitbit section, which is being moved to the home screen. This makes sense since one had to open the Fitbit app or tile on your smartwatch to open the application on their paired smartphones.

One could even go to the Fitbit app and swim through settings to sync health information. But all of these were quite tedious. So the new update brings some much welcomed changes. The current app build is version 1.0.0.477318422, which the company stated will start rolling out via Play Store and “continue over the next few weeks.”

Machenike KT68 Smart Screen Keyboard Review – Typing Machine From the Future

In China, any specific market segment related to electronics is very competitive. The highly mature and clustered industrial system has forced manufacturers to be more creative in order to stand out in the market. And admittedly, Chinese consumers are very lucky to be the first to have access to mass-produced products with new stuff. The mechanical keyboard scene in China is a very good example.

There are dozens of stylish mechanical keyboard brand in China right now with refreshing designs and creative features. And we want to share these keyboards and smart products with you to show you how things are progressing in the tech sector. So starting today, we will be picking keyboards from the market that caught our eyes but were not commonly seen before.

If you happen to be interested in the same models as us, then you may want to hear our thoughts before making a decision. So let’s start this series with a very special keyboard, the Machenike KT68 Smart Screen.

And if you guys want to see more innovative keyboards or other gadgets review, please subscribe to our channel! We are working on bringing very interesting products from China! Or if you want us to review any gadgets from the internet, you can also share them in the comments down below.

This is the package of the Ice-Age variant we received, and now it’s been two weeks after we ordered it online. At less than $150, it made it onto our wish list early on. It provides a fully assembled model in a transparent plastic shield with matt finish. And you can also have a set of Cherry-type PC transparent keycaps and a set of TTC Silent Ice hot-swap switches.

Almost all the components over the white positioning plate are transparent, and you can easily find the RGB backlighting through all the materials and just dance at your fingertips. Well, I really like the portfolio of the Ice Age variant. But if that’s all, it would no more than be a good-looking mechanical keyboard. The smart screen over the layout makes it more fun. Actually, the screen is a 5×65 pixel RGB LED matrix.

In addition to the smart screen version, there’s another cheaper version of the KT68 available without the LED matrix. While for the special variant, it’s this small additional screen that makes the whole keyboard looks much more cyber-futuristic. Later we will show you what it can do.

If you know anything about custom keyboards, the KT68 smart screen might remind you of another niche brand called Angry Miao and their first custom keyboard model launched in 2020, the Cyberboard R1. I’m not sure whether the KT68 was inspired by Angry Miao’s CyberBoard series. The latter also has a LED matrix, but the starting price of $370 is much more expensive. But customizing a screen module on the keyboard is not really a new technology. So probably in the near future, we will see more and more modular assembly kits for enriching the keyboard’s functions. But now, I have to say the KT68 is one of the few models that are ahead of the trend with a reasonable price.

The volume knob on the left side is really a better design, since I’ve seen quite a lot of keyboards designed with the knob on the right side. My right hand had to leave the mouse for turning the knob. But on the KT68, the left Knob obviously is more intuitive with using my free hand and without moving the busy hand from the mouse.

But there’s still a small informative panel in the upper right corner. The column slider’s default setting is to switch between the desktop and the recent tasks. And you can also add custom macro shortcuts for it in the exclusive driver.

The KT68 is a 75% keyboard that supports both cable connection and wireless connections. It supports Bluetooth connections to up to three different devices, and also includes a 2.4GHz wireless USB dongle if you don’t want to mess around with unstable Bluetooth pairing. And you can also switch between Mac and Windows layouts with a simple combination of shortcuts. Another satisfying experience is the KT68’s exclusive controller software, which can be downloaded from the official website and supports English. You can customize all the functions via the program, such as lighting effects control and wide shortcuts customization. The KT68 currently supports 19 built-in lighting effects and offers great flexibility for custom effects. The keyboard backlighting even supports showing the rhythm with RGB effects when playing audio on the connected device. But there’s only one downside here for the backlights: the spacebar here is only offered with a single backlight, which makes it look like something is missing here.

But there’s a downside here. The KT68 with the program isn’t compatible with other lighting-sync systems like Razer Synapse and Asus Aura Sync. You may not be able to match your PC’s lighting exactly, but because it supports quite a lot of lighting effects, finding similar effects should be no problem.

As for the pixel screen, you can choose to load one of the dynamic light effects in the software or just edit a new pattern for yourself. Meanwhile, you can import a proper GIF image or LED effect files on the editing page and recreate it on the keyboard. But please note that it does not always display the GIF content properly due to the fixed matrix ratio.

The editing is pretty much like a pixel-filling game, which is quite interesting.

And there’re several informative patterns in the software showing your PC’s running state in real time like CPU Usage, GPU usage, connection speed, or date & time with the battery icon. Or just visualize the musical rhythm here, but it won’t be able to compatible with the musical-rhythm effect of the keyboard’s backlighting.

Although its pixel effect is not particularly refined, I couldn’t help but get caught up in the creation of these pixels, which is a feeling very similar to the one we had on another pixel gadget, the Divoom’s Pixoo 64

The typing experience of the KT68 is quite a surprise. The variant we had only offers a new version of the TTC Silent Ice switches. The trigger of 39g feels pretty light at the fingertips. It has 2mm trigger stroke and 3mm total stroke. The use of new transparent materials has increased its light transmission, and the backlighting looks much brighter than the other transparent switches we used before. The silencing effect is really good. There’s only a kind of subtle sound I can hear even in a quiet environment. The route is stable without obvious wobble, and the rebound is also smooth and crisp. Although it’s pretty quiet, the feedback at the fingertips when struck is still very clear.

The keyboard features a 4000mAh built-in battery, which actually is quite a big capacity for a wireless keyboard. But due to the additional pixel screen, when the keyboard is fully lit up, the battery can only last less than two days of work.

So that’s all about the Mechenike KT68 Smart screen keyboard. It’s undoubtedly the most impressive product we’ve seen recently. It’s quite interesting to deliver new thinking over design and aesthetics. Meanwhile, the additional LED screen also makes it a decorative item on your desktop to help build your own style. It also allows us to see these PC accessories become potential on the trend of more individualization.

We hope you like the new series. We are hoping to keep searching for new gadgets to share with you guys. Or if you have any great candidates, just tell us down below.

New Apple TV Features Binned A15 Chip With 5 Core CPU: Report

Earlier this month, Apple had launched its latest generation of Apple TV 4K in the market. This new model arrived with the A15 Bionic chipset, however, a new report has revealed that this is actually a binned version.

According to a FlatpanelsHD report, details obtained from the TV Info app for tvOS has revealed that the new Apple TV 4K features a binned version of the A15 Bionic chip. It adds that one CPU core of this processor is also disabled. In other words, the Cupertino based giant’s third generation TV 4K is powered by a 5 core CPU. For those unaware, this is the same chipset that can also be found in the iPhone 13 series and some iPhone 14 models.

Apple

However, the variant found on the iPhone models is a six core CPU. Although it has a binned chip, the latest Apple TV model is still able to offer a roughly 40 percent improvement in performance. Despite a fanless design as well, it still doesn’t throttle as much as the previous generation TV 4K, which has the A12 Bionic chipset. Interestingly enough, the new TV 4K was also found to be much faster than the last gen gaming consoles like the Xbox One.

Furthermore, the report also talked about how it is possible that the binned A15 chip on the new TV 4K model might feature a 4 core GPU as well. This is again one core less than the 5 core GPU found in the Apple iPhone 13 series. Despite this, the new A15 Bionic offers 30 percent faster GPU performance on the latest TV 4K model over the previous generation version.

Honor Magic Vs Official Images Released, Here’s How it Looks

The Honor Magic Vs is scheduled to launch on Nov. 23 in China. Its reservations are now live through Honor Mall in the home market. In the past few days, the company has rolled out a couple of teasers for Magic Vs. Today, it released the first images of the device to showcase its rear design.

Honor has teamed up with Esquire Fine to release the following renders. The images show celebrity Li Qin holding the Magic Vs. The gold variant of the device can be seen sporting a wavy pattern on the back.

The camera module houses three cameras of different sizes along with an LED flash. The device sports an in-ward folding design and flaunts a punch-hole display. Even though it’s not clear from the official renders, the device could have a fingerprint scanner on the side.

The Magic Vs has a similar design to the Magic V, which was announced last year as Honor’s first foldable phone. Samsung to Offer the Same Selfie Camera on All Galaxy S23 Series Models

We have already covered a number of rumors and reports regarding the Samsung Galaxy S23 series. Just recently, a leak had hinted at the camera specifications of the Galaxy S23 Ultra, which had some exclusive cameras since it is the top model. Now, a new report has suggested that one camera will be common across the entire flagship lineup.

It has already been reported numerous times that the S23 Ultra will feature a new 200 megapixel primary camera on the rear. Although a recent report also revealed that it will be paired with a 12 megapixel ultra wide angle lens, a 10 megapixel 3x telephoto shooter, and a 10 megapixel 10x periscopic sensor as well. Meanwhile, a new ETNews claims that the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ will reportedly feature a triple camera setup consisting of a 50 megapixel primary sensor, paired with a 12 megapixel and an 11 megapixel camera, which is just a minor upgrade over the S22 and S22+ models.

Samsung

For those unaware, the Galaxy S22 and S22+ featured a 50 megapixel main camera, paired with a 12 megapixel ultra wide angle, and 10 megapixel telephoto lens with 3x zoom. So it is clear that the bulk of the major camera upgrades will be exclusive to the Galaxy S23 Ultra model. However, the entire series will apparently feature the same image sensor on the front. A previous leak had hinted at the front facing camera being a 12 megapixel shooter, and the new report backs this up.

Furthermore, the South Korean tech giant also plans on manufacturing around 32 million units of the Galaxy S23 series. 50 percent of this figure will be for the S23 Ultra model alone, while the base model will account for 30 percent of the production. This means that the S22+ will have the smallest share of 20 percent.

AllDOCUBE GT Book 15 Review

ALLDOCUBE GT Book 15

ALLDOCUBE GT Book 15, the latest lightweight budget laptop, comes with a much larger screen and a few upgrades from its predecessor, the GT Book released last year. To be honest, it’s been a while since we’ve seen a decent-budget laptop like the GT Book series. The brand ALLDOCUBE is always one of the few manufacturers who know how to include the right set of configurations, as well as make acceptable compromises. Although you wouldn’t be satisfied with all the specs, it’s still hard to find a better option than the GT Book 15 under US $400, especially when it’s upgraded with a larger display and a full keyboard with a number block.

Design & 15.6″ display

The larger 15.6-inch laptop is impressively thin and lightweight with an aluminum and magnesium body. When I first opened and set up the laptop, the 15.6-inch 1080P IPS screen with narrow edges looked much more stunning than its predecessor. At this price range, the GT Book’s display may be the best option you can have. The big size of the IPS screen is especially suitable for desktop work, browsing, video conferencing, and entertainment like watching films. During the two weeks, I carried it around and used it for mobile office work. I was happy with the size that easily fits in my backpack, and the comfortable experience without visual fatigue even when working on my business trips.

And the delightful experience is also attributed to the compact full-size keyboard, which offers a similar typing experience to those mechanical keyboards. More keys allow for more comfortable finger movement, but for those who are not familiar with this compact layout, it may take some time to get used to it. For those who have to deal with numbers a lot, the numeric keypad can certainly alleviate a lot of pain if you have to carry a mobile PC.

The feedback at the fingertips when typing is light but clear. The operation panel where the keyboard is located is neat and aesthetic. The keyboard layout almost runs through the entire panel. Underneath the keyboard is a large touchpad, which responds fast without significant latency.

Although we had concerns about the lack of interfaces on this lightweight PC, it didn’t cause me any trouble in daily use. It is thin and light enough, but there are still multi-ports including HDMI, USB-A, USB TYPE-C, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Peformance

The GT Book 15’s configuration is focused on power efficiency. The low power quad-core SoC from the jasper Lake series – Celeron N5100 is a widespread processor for inexpensive notebooks, running with clocks between 1.1 – 2.8 GHz and integrates a DirectX12-capable graphics adapter with 24EUs and up to 800MHz. The Celeron N5100 SoC’s cores are slower than in the 11th Core Series, but they are both manufactured in the same 10nm process, which gives the laptop’s SoC the same or even greater advantage in terms of power consumption. ALLDOCUBE also gives the laptop 12GB of large-capacity LPDDR4x RAM (dual-channel 2933MHz), which not just supports higher and more stable performance but also brings slightly lower power consumption compared to traditional laptops’ memory.

Apart from the 256GB SSD internal storage, the GT Book 15 supports expanding storage up to 128GB with a Micro SD, and mounting a 2.5-inch SATA drive up to 3TB inside.

Obviously, the laptop is not designed for gaming or heavily loaded applications. The integrated graphics (Intel UHD Graphics 600) supports video decoding at up to 4k 60fps and is possible for some light games, but the laptop is fully adequate for office work, and multitasking with browsing and 4K video playback. Since it uses the same performance specs as its predecessor, the GT Book 15 has almost the same performance as its predecessor. For more information about its stress tests and performance test, you can check the review I did here.

In addition, it’s noteworthy that the running noise was almost unperceivable, and it has a slightly better thermal design with a slightly larger body.

Double battery capacity

The battery is another significant upgrade to the GT Book 15. On top of its predecessor’s 5000mAh, the new GT Book surprisingly doubles the battery capacity to 10000 mAh, which gives it a working life of over 8.5 hours for a single charge. Under Power-saving mode, the lasting time could be even longer.

As we said before, ALLDOCUBE is a brand that you cannot ignore if you are looking for a full-sized decent laptop for an affordable price. The GT Book 15 is very likely to be another popular option for those who want a feature-packed laptop at a budget price.

If you are interested in the new GT Book as I do, you can learn more about the new laptop on their official website, or just click here on Amazon to buy it.

TP-Link Archer BE900 Wi-Fi 7 Router Announced; To Go On Sale In Q1 2023 for $700

At a time when the new Wi-Fi-based products are mostly using Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 6E technology, TP-Link has announced the “world’s first” Wi-Fi 7 router, which is based on the upcoming IEEE specifications.

The newly announced TP-Link Archer BE900 Wi-Fi 7 Router is based on the upcoming standard 802.11BE, which is a successor to the Wi-Fi 6 and 6E and comes with several improvements, including faster speed and reduced latency, among others.

Wi-Fi 7 can also enable a device to connect to two spectrums at a time using Multi-Link Operation (MLO), which means that users can connect the device to 5GHz and 6GHz simultaneously. It has backward compatibility with Wi-Fi 6, 5, and older technologies.

The new technology comes with support for high-capacity channels as wide as 320MHz and to take advantage of this, users will need to have a device with Wi-Fi 7 support. For comparison, Wi-Fi 6E supports channels as wide as 160GHz.

TP-Link Archer BE900 is a flagship quad-band Wi-Fi 7 router that comes with LED lights and a touchscreen. The front can be swiped to show the clock, weather, and wireless stats, among others. It also comes with support for technologies like OpenVPN and a private IoT network for smart devices.

The flagship router supports wireless speeds of up to 24Gbps, which is less than the top speed of 40Gbps supported by Wi-Fi 7. However, the speed is more than double compared to the Wi-Fi 6E router. It offers a combo 10Gb SFP+Fiber WAN option plus an additional 10Gb WAN port, and they can also be used as LAN.

The TP-Link Archer BE900 Wi-Fi 7 Router will be available for preorder from 31st December and will ship in the first quarter of 2023. While the exact launch date is not yet known, the company has revealed that the product will cost $699.99 in the United States.

Taiwan May Lose Its Position in Technology Manufacturing

Tensions between China and the USA continue at full speed. This situation negatively affects the diplomatic relations between the two countries and the commercial relations in the region. According to the statements of MediaTek CEO Rick Tsai, political tensions are pushing some manufacturing companies to talk about expanding some of their supply chains beyond Taiwan.

Rick Tsai: Supply chain are gradually leaving Taiwan

MediaTek CEO Rick Tsai

Taiwan is one of the leading technology centers in the world. The headquarters of many important companies, such as Asus, MediaTek and TSMC, are located here. In addition, supply manufacturers, which are very important for technology companies, are also located here. This situation contributes to the development of commercial relations in the region and the development of technology in Asian countries.

However, according to MediaTek CEO Rick Tsai, some of the “very large (equipment manufacturers) will require their chip suppliers to have multiple sources, like from Taiwan and from the U.S., or from Germany or from Europe.” Tsai said that if it continues like this, they need to find different sources for the same chip in the future and underlined that the change is not large-scale.

Will MediaTek shift production out of Taiwan?

While MediaTek’s most advanced smartphone chips are manufactured in Taiwan, the company also has overseas plans. Tsai said some of the older chip models were manufactured by GlobalFoundries Inc, which has factories in places like the US and Singapore. The company is pushing to expand its business in the US and wants to increase sales several fold.

MediaTek will also manufacture at Intel’s Ireland and TSMC‘s Arizona facilities. However, these preparations seem more like being ready for the worst than shifting production. Tsai also said it was unrealistic to move away from Taiwan completely, the world’s most important region for advanced chip manufacturing.
