Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus CAD renders emerge to reveal improved design

The Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus was recently spotted with the Galaxy S23 in the database of China’s 3C certification site. Publication SmartPrix has teamed up with reliable tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer (aka. OnLeaks) to release the CAD renders of the Galaxy S23+. The images show that there will be some design changes on the successor edition of the Galaxy S22+.

Samsung Galaxy S23+ design

The Galaxy S23+ renders show that the device will feature a punch-hole display on the front. Its back panel has a vertical triple camera unit at the upper-left corner. There is no separate camera island as it was seen on the Galaxy S22. Each camera has protruding rings like the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

The volume buttons and the power key are on the right side of the Galaxy S23+. Its bottom edge has a USB-C port and a speaker grille. While the SIM card slot is not visible in the renders, it appears that it will also be available on the bottom edge.

The report further states that the Galaxy S23+ measures 157.7 x 76.1 x 7.6mm and houses a 6.6-inch display. The S22+ also housed a same-sized screen but measured 157.4 x 75.8 x 7.6mm. The report has no other information on the specifications of the device.

Rumors surrounding the Galaxy S23 Plus have claimed that it will be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. It appears that the inclusion of the new chipset could be the only major change of the S23+ as compared to its predecessor. The reason behind it is that tipster Ice Universe recently claimed that the S23+ will have the same internals that is available on the S22+. Hence, the S23+ may not be a major upgrade over its predecessor.

Microsoft Surface Duo 3 patent showcases Galaxy Z Fold 4-like design

Microsoft is apparently working on a successor to the Surface Duo 2. A patent has revealed the design of a new Surface product. This might be the Surface Duo 3, which interestingly enough, features a design reminiscent of a foldable Samsung foldable smartphone.

Microsoft

According to a WindowsLatest report, the American tech giant might be planning on launching this new Surface Duo 3 model sometime next year. As of right now, it is still unclear if the company is actually working on a Microsoft Surface branded phone, but previous rumors suggests that the new patent in question is the Surface Duo 3. The new patent application was spotted recently and the documentation showcasing the design of the new device.

As per the official description, the patent is for a ‘FOLDABLE DISPLAY DEVICE,’ which is clearly depicted in the patent images. The application was filed back in 2021 and was published earlier this year. It shows a handheld foldable phone unlike the original Surface Duo that had two separate screen that was joined in the middle with a hinge. This time around, the company is working on making a device with one single display that has a flexible design.

Interestingly, the Microsoft patent also describes this display as being capable for rotating between zero to 360 degrees as well. Looking at the patent images, we can see a foldable phone that can be used as a tablet with the display unfolded or a regular smartphone when the display is folded. In other words, its design is quite similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 4 from Samsung. Keep in mind that this is still just a patent application.

New Huawei P50 series batch doesn’t feature Leica branding on the rear

Last year, the Huawei P50 series had launched as the company’s then flagship smartphone models. This series included the P50 and P50 Pro, which was later joined by the new P50E model earlier this year. The company has yet to launch a successor to this premium lineup and has continued to sell this series. But it seems, the latest batch of the phones has a slight difference than the original launch variants.

Huawei
P50 Pro with Leica branding

The latest batch of Huawei P50 series have just recently been spotted on the Chinese tech giant’s Vmall online website. Here, we can see that there is one small change in the rear design of the P50 series, which is the lack of the Leica camera lens branding on the back. For those unaware, the Leica logo was typically found underneath the camera module of the P50 series, but this has since been removed in the new batch of the premium grade handsets.

The P50 lineup was officially the last smartphones from the brand to partner with Leica and this change officially marks the end of their cooperation with one another. So now, the base P50, the top end P50 Pro, and mid range P50E will no longer ship with the Leica logo. But despite this change, the price tag of the smartphone series is still the same as it was before.

Huawei
P50 Pro without Leica branding

Although, back in July 2022, the company announced its new imaging solution called Huawei Imaging XMAGE, which would also carry the exclusive logo of Huawei Mobile Imaging. With this, the brand aims to step into imaging technology and showcase its maturity and expertise in the field after years of research and development guided breakthroughs.

Vivo X90 & iQOO 11 series to feature next gen Vivo’s V2 ISP chipset

As we get closer to the year end, brands are gearing up to launch their next gen flagship smartphones. So, a number of new leaks and rumors have started to surface, with the latest one revealing some details regarding the Vivo X90 and iQOO 11 series of flagship smartphones.

Vivo

The news arrives from known tipster Digital Chat Station who shared the information on his Weibo account (a Chinese microblogging website). In the social media post, the tipster shared details regarding the next generation of Vivo V2 ISP chipset. This is basically the successor to the original image processing chip that the Chinese brand had launched for its existing generation of flagship smartphones.

In other words, the V2 ISP will likely makes its way to the flagship handsets of next year, which is the Vivo X90 series and even the iQOO 11 series. The tipster further added that due to chip supply issues that is still affecting the industry’s supply chains, the schedule for the launch conference will likely be shifted. Furthermore, it is also unclear whether Vivo or iQOO would officially unveil their upcoming flagship lineup of smartphones first.

Vivo X80

For those unaware, the last ISP chip from the company has the V1+ processor. This brought support for 3D real time stereoscopic night scene noise reduction, MEMC frame insertion, and AI super division in the hardware. But, we can expect the new chips to bring more new features and even improvements over existing technologies.

Redmi Note 9 Software Support May End Soon: Report

The Redmi Note 9 was launched in 2020. The smartphone also goes by the name of Redmi 10X 4G in China. Despite being more than two years old, the handset is still being sold in multiple regions at cheaper rates.

However, we urge you not to invest in this phone anymore. Because Xiaomi may soon end software support for it.

Redmi Note 9
Redmi Note 9

According to a report by Xiaomiui, Xiaomi has stopped developing internal MIUI builds for the Redmi Note 9.

This suggests that the device will not receive any major software updates going forward. At the same time, it also hints at the imminent end of software support.

The smartphone debuted with MIUI 11 based on Android 10. It was later updated to MIUI 12, followed by Android 11, MIUI 12.5, and MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition.

Earlier this year, the company started testing MIUI 13 based on Android 12 for this handset. This update is currently available for a select few users. We expect it to reach all users across different regions in the coming weeks.

Going by the details above, the software support has not been terrible for the Redmi Note 9. But we cannot deny the fact that the update delivery has been very slow.

Currently, Xiaomi is the only major Chinese OEM to lag in software support. Hopefully, the firm improves in this regard before it’s too late.
