Chinese smartphone brands are constantly pushing the envelope with their absolutely bonkers charging technologies. We recently heard rumors of the upcoming iQOO 10 Pro being equipped with 200W charging capabilities. However, if you think 200W is too much, you’ll be surprised to know that a Chinese OEM is planning to up the ante to 240W.
iQOO is reported to be working on the next-gen iQOO 10 Pro which will support up to 200W fast charging. This means the smartphone can be fully charged from 0-100 percent, in around 12 minutes. But iQOO 10 Pro might not be the fastest charging phone because as per the popular tipster Digital Chat Station, a fellow Chinese manufacturer is trial-producing a 24v-10a 240W charger.
The tipster, however, didn’t disclose the name of the manufacturer. It could be Oppo since the company had already showcased 240W fast charging in the past.
IQOO 9 PRO
Back in February 2022, Oppo announced that it has developed 240W SuperVooc charging technology that can juice up a 4,500mAh battery in just 9 minutes. However, the technology was only tested in a prototype phone and the company didn’t announce exactly when this fast-charging technology will arrive on a smartphone.
Smartphone brands have pushed smartphone charging systems to a limit but there’s no telling what these kinds of charging speeds would do to the battery after a few charging cycles. We know that fast charging comes with a risk of overheating and corresponding hazards. Despite all the additional safety mechanisms implemented by the companies, the risk still persists.
Today on the brand’s official Weibo account, Huawei had announced that the company will be revealing a new “Gray Leather” colour option for its wildly popular clamshell foldable flagship – the Huawei P50 Pocket. The new colour option will be officially launched next week on July 4th at the brand’s Huawei Nova 10 series launch event in China, alongside the company’s AITO M7 electric vehicle series.

The Huawei P50 Pocket was released in December 2021 last year with three premium colour options: Obsidian Black, Crystal White and a special edition Glit Gold colourway. The new “Gray Leather” exterior is speculated to have better grip and better drop resistance than its glass counterpart, and surprisingly, the Huawei P50 Pocket will be the first clamshell foldable to feature a leather folding exterior in the smartphone world.
Huawei P50 Pocket in Glit Gold
However, the first brand to feature a foldable with a leather exterior was actually Vivo, with their critically acclaimed Vivo X Fold. The Vivo X Fold is an intricately designed premium foldable smartphone that features a premium leather exterior blended with comfortable ergonomics, and a flagship-grade triple camera setup co-engineered with globally renowned photography expert – Zeiss.
The Vivo X Fold is available in two colour options: Blue and Black with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 storage and 512GB of fast UFS 3.1 storage. For an immersive multimedia experience, the foldable phone features an 8.03-inch 120Hz E5 LTPO AMOLED inner display and a 6.53-inch E5 AMOLED outer display.
Powering the device is the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, and alongside the 4600mAh battery, the Vivo X Fold supports 66W fast charging and 50W fast wireless charging. The foldable flagship comes with a rear quad camera setup with a 50MP main camera, 48MP ultra-wide sensor, 12MP portrait telephoto lens and 5MP periscope telephoto lens. The camera comes with Zeiss optics and Zeiss T* lens coating that optimize light efficiency during photography.
The Vivo X Fold is available for purchase on Giztop from US$1799 onwards, and for interested buyers, take note that this is a Chinese edition phone, but it comes with pre-installed Google Mobile Services and Google Play Store that were sideloaded.

Google has just released the latest Chrome OS update for Chromebooks which brings many new features for seamless integration and convenience. So, let’s check them out.
The Chrome OS 103 update‘s first new feature is the change made to the Phone Hub. As we know, the Phone Hub is a built-in control center that lets you respond to text messages, check your phone’s battery, turn on tethering, and more. Now, it is also capable of fetching your recently clicked images straight from your Android smartphone to your Chromebook.
This will make life easier in situations when you need to quickly snap a picture to attach it to an email. And the best part is that users don’t need to be connected to the internet for this feature to work.
The second major feature in this update is the ability to securely connect your Chromebook to any WiFi network you have saved on your smartphone without the need for a password. It works using the Nearby Share feature in Chrome OS that also lets users share music, pictures, or other files between other Chromebooks or Android devices.
To try out this new feature, all you have to do is go to the internet settings page on your Android phone, select “Wi-Fi network” and “Share.” Then tap the “Nearby” tile under the QR code, and select the Chromebook you want to get online. Nearby Share will deliver the Wi-Fi credentials (as in the network name and password), and the Chromebook will automatically connect to the Wi-Fi.
Other than these features, Google has also announced that Chromebooks will soon be able to easily pair with headphones or other compatible accessories via Google’s Fast Pair framework. Whenever a new pair of Bluetooth headphones are nearby, a notification will pop up on the Chromebooks screen asking if the user wants to pair with this device. This feature will roll out later this summer.
OnePlus is having a busy 2022 as the brand has already launched multiple smartphones and has the OnePlus 10T on the way. A new leak from tipster Mukul Sharma has revealed that the brand is also focusing on the AIoT segment.
According to Sharma, the brand is planning on launching two new TWS earphones, a OnePlus Watch, and a fitness band. The latter two are said to be the sequels of the OnePlus Watch launched back in March 2021 and the OnePlus Band.
[Exclusive] Two new OnePlus TWS are coming soon to India. 1 OnePlus Nord-branded TWS and 1 OnePlus TWS Expect the launch to happen alongside a couple of upcoming OnePlus smartphones in Q3. Furthermore, OnePlus Watch 2 and Band 2 are also lined up. Feel free to retweet.#OnePlus
Sharma also elaborates that one of the upcoming TWS earphones will come with the mid-range oriented Nord branding while the other will be comparatively more premium. These TWS earbuds are expected to launch in Q3 2022, meaning between the months of August and October.
Unfortunately, the tipster does not reveal any information regarding the specifications of these upcoming AIoT devices. However, the company recently launched the OnePlus Nord Buds in India aka the OnePlus Buds N, so we can get an idea of what to expect from the upcoming Nord-branded TWS earbuds.
OnePlus Nord Buds
The OnePlus Nord Buds come with 12.4mm dynamic drivers, and feature Dolby Atmos audio with custom equalizer support. The earbuds house dual microphones for noise cancellation during calls but do not provide active noise cancellation.
They also have a 94ms low-latency mode for gaming and come with Bluetooth v5.2 for connectivity. Coming to the battery, the Nord Buds offer up to 7 hours of audio playback on a single charge and 30 hours in total when paired with the charging case. They also have an IP55 dust and water resistance rating, which is always a plus.
Two persons were killed in a crash involving a Nio car in Shanghai during a test drive. Two occupants were in the car when it crashed from the third floor of the company’s Shanghai headquarters. The two male casualties were said to be a staff of the EV maker and a technician from one of its partners. The incident once again brings to the spotlight safety concerns surrounding intelligent EVs.
In what can be termed a freak accident, the driver of the Nio test vehicle lost control of the vehicle and smashed through the glass windows before plunging to the ground. There were no reported casualties on the ground, fortunately. Nio is a Chinese EV company and the incident happened on June 22. Nio has confirmed the incident and says preliminary investigations indicate that no flaws were discovered in the test vehicle.
A comprehensive investigation of the incident will reveal the probable cause of the crash. The news of the crash was first aired by state-owned Shanghai Television. Regulatory authorities are yet to make any public pronouncements on the crash. It however raises safety concerns that have remained with the development of autonomous and semi-autonomous vehicles.
When we talk about Realme and Xiaomi’s sub-brands, there are no limits when it comes to affordable phones. These companies release a huge number of budget devices every year and they are among the best ones for those who want to save money while still getting a great device. The latest affordable handset launched by Realme is the Realme V20: a phone which comes with 5G even though it offers the most affordable price. In a similar price range, you can find the POCO M4 5G: it is another of the most affordable phones with 5G connectivity. Given that these two devices are currently very hot, we decided to compare them. Here is a comparison between the specifications of the Realme V20 and the POCO M4 5G, very useful if you were wondering which will be your next entry-level phone.

8 MP f/2.4 front camera

Design
The Realme V20 is definitely one of the most beautiful entry-level devices out there. It has flat borders just like the iPhones, it has no big dimensions and its cameras do not come inside a camera module but they are placed directly on the rear side, even though they are protruding. The presence of a waterdrop notch ruins the overall design experience, but you can not pretend a punch hole on a so affordable phone. The POCO M4 5G is definitely less elegant because of its big camera module and classic curved borders. It has bigger dimensions, it is thicker than the Realme V20, and it comes with a waterdrop notch too. However, there are two important advantages when it comes to the build quality: it has the Gorilla Glass 3 protection and it is splash resistant, and it is not easy to find these elements on an affordable phone.
Display
The display of the POCO M4 5G is way better than the panel found on the Realme V20. It is an IPS LCD display with a diagonal of 6.58 inches, a 90 Hz refresh rate, and a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, protected by Gorilla Glass as already mentioned. The Realme V20 has an IPS panel with a 6.5-inch diagonal and an HD+ resolution of 720p, nothing special. As you can clearly see from the specifications, the display of the POCO M4 5G is able to show images with a higher level of detail and it even provides a smoother viewing experience thanks to a 90 Hz refresh rate. These displays are nothing special because they are low-end LCD panels, so do not expect a huge image quality. The POCO M4 5G and the Realme V20 are equipped with side-mounted fingerprint readers and they come with mono speakers, but they have a 3.5 mm audio jack for the headphones.
Hardware/Software
The Realme V20 and the POCO M4 5G are powered by the same processor: the Dimensity 700 by Mediatek built at 7 nm and running at a max frequency of 2.2 GHz. It is composed of two Cortex-A76 cores running at 2.2 GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores running at 2 GHz, as well as a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. The Dimensity 700 is the most affordable 5G chipset by Mediatek to date but it provides good performance. The Realme V20 wins the comparison because it offers a higher amount of RAM: up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of internal storage, while the POCO M4 5G stops at 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB. Note that the POCO runs Android 12 out of the box, while the Realme is still based on Android 11. These phones are good for average or entry-level users, not for power users or gamers, but they are not disappointing in terms of performance.
Camera
The most advanced camera is the one found on the POCO M4 5G. It has a better main camera with a 50 MP resolution: it is not a camera phone, but it offers a decent photo quality. The main camera is paired with a 2 MP depth sensor. The Realme V20 has a 13 MP main camera and a 0.3 MP depth sensor, disappointing for those who look for great photo quality. So if you need the best camera phone in this comparison, you know what to choose without thinking twice.
Battery
There is no difference between the capacities of the batteries of these two phones. They both come with a 5000 mAh lithium unit, but the Realme V20 should provide a longer battery life on a single charge simply because its display is more efficient due to the HD resolution and standard refresh rate. On the other hand, the POCO M4 5G remains an amazing battery phone and, unlike the V20, it supports fast charging.
Realme V20 vs Xiaomi POCO M4 5G: Price
You need at least $239/€226 to purchase the POCO M4 5G, while the Realme V20 5G starts from about €141/$149. The POCO phone wins the comparison due to its better display, cameras, and fast charging, but the V20 is more affordable and beautiful.
Toyota has recalled 2,700 units of its first all-electric SUV just two months after its launch. The Toyota bZ4X SUVs were recalled due to the risk of their wheels possibly coming loose while driving. Toyota has already submitted the recall request to Japan’s Transportation Ministry.
The breakdown of the distribution of the mass-produced bZ4X SUVs slated for recall shows Europe as the destination for the bulk of the affected cars. Europe accounts for 2,200 of the vehicles, while 260 units were earmarked for the United States, 110 for Japan, and 10 units for Canada. The wheel issue also affected about 2,600 units of the Subaru Solterra, which was jointly developed by Subaru and Toyota.
Japan’s safety regulator had warned that sharp turns and sudden braking could result in the loosening of the hub bolts. This heightens the risk of a wheel coming off the vehicle. There are no reported actual accidents due to this observed flaw yet in Japan. Owners of the affected models were advised to stop using their vehicles until permanent repair measures were taken.
The 110 recalled units of the bZ4X in Japan were meant for test drives and display, according to Toyota. In an official statement, the company apologized for any inconvenience the recall might cause. Toyota says the 2,700 recalled units of the bZ4X are part of the overall number produced for the model. However, the company was silent on the total number of bZ4X already mass-produced. Toyota has already canceled the promotional test drives that were being carried out by KINTO.

Chinese gaming PC manufacturer AYANEO is seemingly working on a new handheld console with a spectacular design. The upcoming console dubbed AYANEO Flip handheld gaming console will come with a clam-shell design.
The AYANEO Flip’s clamshell-styled design is a one-of-a-kind design and we don’t have a clear picture of how it will pan out. That is because the company only shared a teaser image showing the hinges and another showing it in the closed state.
The company has yet to release details about the flip gaming device yet. However, the device is expected to have a 7-inch LCD display which doesn’t fold, by the way. The folding design is perhaps to make for easy storage as the display folds over the control buttons. We don’t have complete details of this design so can’t say what will happen to the joystick. The image also shows the device will feature four shoulder buttons and a considerably small bezel around the display. It will also come with an AMD Ryzen 7 6800U processor with Radeon 680M graphics.
We have no idea when the AYANEO Flip will be launched. The product will join a growing list of impressive handheld gaming devices such as the AYA NEO, AYA Neo Next, as well as the AYANEO Air and AYANEO 2 that were unveiled recently.
