At least 3 Xiaomi phones with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus are reportedly in the pipeline

At least three Xiaomi phones equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus processor and 2K resolution displays are in the pipeline currently, leakster Digital Chat Station revealed today with a post on Weibo. It’s easy to assume here that since the upcoming chip from Qualcomm is a flagship, phones featuring it will be flagships too — but the leakster said “both mid-to-high-end and high-end” offerings will have it under the hood.

xiaomi snapdragon 8 gen 1 plus

And if one pictures an upper mid-range device with a flagship chip, Redmi devices immediately come to mind. The sub-brand is known for bringing performance-focused devices with high-end chips to the masses, so it’s likely that at least one of the said three devices will be its product. The Xiaomi MIX series could also be a contender.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus is based on TSMC’s 4nm process, which many hope will address most of the shortcomings from Samsung’s process used to produce the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. It is expected to use a “1+3+4” three-cluster architecture, comprising 1x super-large Cortex X2 core, 3x large Cortex A710 cores, and 4x small Cortex A510 cores.

Sources say that the processor will be used in the Xiaomi 12 Ultra, which should make the phone the new Xiaomi champion in terms of processing power, dethroning the Xiaomi 12 Pro.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus is expected to be released in the second quarter of 2022 so the aforementioned trio will likely be also launched around the same time.

Galaxy A53 5G is costlier than Redmi K50 Pro in China

Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy A53 5G in China. The latest mid-ranger from the company was initially announced globally last week. The Chinese variant of the handset comes with the exact same set of specs as the version released elsewhere.

Samsung Galaxy A53 5G
Samsung Galaxy A53 5G

The Galaxy A53 5G is up for pre-order in China. It will retail at the following price tags in the country from April 1.

  • 8GB + 128GB – ¥3,399 ($534)
  • 8GB + 256GB – ¥3,699 ($581)

Customers can purchase the phone in either Awesome Blue, Awesome Black, Awesome White, or Awesome Peach color options. Customers who pre-order will get Samsung Online Store credits to buy the Galaxy Buds2 at a discounted price tag of ¥449 ($71) and a coupon for the official silicone case for the handset (limited to 6,000 buyers).

For the asking price, the Galaxy A53 5G offers way less than the competition in China. People can get the Redmi K50 Pro with much better hardware and save some bucks. The Redmi device costs ¥2,999 ($471), ¥3,299 ($518), and ¥3,999 ($628) for 8GB + 128GB, 8GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB memory configurations respectively.

However, there are two features that make the Samsung phone stand out. It is the only mid-range Android smartphone to offer 4 years of guaranteed OS updates and 5 years of security updates. Also, it is one of the few to come with an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance in its price segment.

But these features don’t make sense for the Chinese consumers who are spec hungry. What are your thoughts on the Galaxy A53 5G’s pricing in China? Do let us know in the comment section below.

Tata 2022 Nexon EV launch date tipped, here’s the expected specs & price

Tata is apparently gearing up to launch the 2022 refresh of its Nexon EV in India soon. A new report has revealed the possible launch date of the new car alongside some of its expected specifications and even pricing.

Tata Nexon EV

According to a RushLane report, the Indian Conglomerate is planning on announcing the 2022 Nexon EV in India on the 6th of April 2022. The launch will follow a long period of testing the car on public roads. For those unaware, the Nexon EV is currently the market leader in the electric vehicle segment in India, accounting for 60 percent of the total electric car sales in the region. And now, the brand is set to launch a new model with refreshed specifications for improved range and power.

Recently, we had reported on Tata hiking the price of the Nexon EV along with some other models as well. So, the 2022 Nexon EV is likely to arrive with higher specifications like larger battery and a longer driving range and even more power. In other words, it would likely launch with a higher price tag as well. The brand could possible decide to bump the price of the new model by around 300,000 to 400,000 INR (roughly 3,930 to 5,240 US Dollars) over the current generation.

Despite its price bump, the 2022 Nexon EV will still compete with other EVs from rival brands. This includes the likes of the Hyundai Kona EV and MG ZS EV with its range. Since its a new refreshed model, the 2022 edition could also offer changes to offer better luxury. Similarly, it is rumored to get a new 40kWh battery pack as well that could help it provide a maximum of 300 kilometers of ARAI certified range.

Apple saw robust iPhone 13 sales that put the brand in a “monster product cycle”

While we know that the Apple iPhone 13 series has seen robust sales across the globe, a new report has found that its performance was actually “stellar” and may have put the company in a “monster product cycle.”

Apple

The news arrives from securities firm Wedbush (Via PhoneArena) and known analyst Daniel Ives. The report added that the Cupertino based giant was only lightly impacted by the global supply chain shortage, since it managed to procure parts for its iPhone. Furthermore, this will help it in seeing a strong performance in the June quarter as well as help in strengthen sales of its next iPhone release as well.

Ives expects that the 2022 iPhone SE 5G will see around 30 million units in sales. On the other hand, the company is also acquiring a higher market share in the smartphone market, largely due to the popularity of its iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 series, which saw a 3 percent market share increase in China alone over the last 12 months. Ives also noted that there were a number of more Chinese consumers willing to buy the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, “which is a nice positive for the March quarter.”

Apple

He further added that Apple is currently in the middle of a “monster product cycle.” Ives stated that the current product cycle is the strongest for the brand since 2015, back when it launched the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. The Wedbush analyst wrote in a note to clients that “Taking a step back, while the risk of dynamic in the market has been front and center for tech investors with Apple’s stock also under pressure thus far in 2022 along with other tech stalwarts, we believe the company is setting up for a monster growth cycle over the next 12 to 18 (months) that is not baked into shares at current levels.”

Samsung Galaxy M33 5G specs tipped again: Exynos 1280 SoC, 120Hz LCD screen, and more

As Samsung is done announcing its latest Galaxy A phones, it is now expected to debut the next-gen Galaxy M smartphones. In fact, the company has already scheduled an event for March 27 in Vietnam. The South Korean electronics giant will be unveiling the Galaxy M53 5G and Galaxy M33 5G at this conference. We already know almost everything about the former. Today, we get to learn about the latter, which is also being teased to launch in India.

Samsung Galaxy M32 5G Featured A
Samsung Galaxy M32 5G

Tipster Yogesh Brar has shared the key specifications of the upcoming Galaxy M33 5G on Twitter. This is not the first time we are hearing about the specs of the handset. But the latest leak suggests a different set of features than the old one.

First and foremost, the device is now said to be powered by an Exynos 1280 SoC instead of Exynos 1200. This is the same chip that runs the Galaxy A53 5G and Galaxy A33 5G.

Secondly, it will feature a 50MP (wide) + 5MP  (ultra-wide) + 2MP (macro) + 2MP (depth) quad-camera setup and not a 64MP quad-camera system comprising of an 8MP ultra-wide unit, 5MP macro snapper, and 2MP depth sensor.

Finally, it will be backed by a 5,000mAh battery with support for 25W fast charging as opposed to a 6,000mAh battery reported earlier.

Further, the phone will arrive with 6GB/8GB RAM and 128GB storage. It will boot One UI 4.1 based on Android 12. Sadly, it will lack a 3.5mm headphone jack and an in-box charger.

Last but not least, the Galaxy M33 5G will be built around a 6.6-inch FHD+ display (LCD) with up to a 120Hz refresh rate. Due to the type of the screen, the smartphone will house a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

What are your thoughts on the Samsung Galaxy M33 5G based on the leaked specifications? Do let us know in the comment section below.

Its other features include Bluetooth 5.1 support and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The leak mentions that it will be priced at 2,999 Yuan (~$471) for the 6GB+128GB variant. Multiple vivo phones to feature vivo X Note-like circular camera modules this year

A new vivo phone’s rear camera module was teased today by Digital Chat Station. The leakster said that such a circular camera module will be adopted by a number of upcoming vivo devices, meaning we could be seeing a more homogenous designs from the brand this year.

Judging by the shared image, the camera module looks placed within a little window of its own, much like the vivo X70 Pro+. However, unlike the X70 Pro+ whose camera module was rectangular, the upcoming phone in question has a circular one.

Additionally, the leaked camera module sports a tiny blue-colored Zeiss label at the top-right corner, proving that the vivo phone it will be featured on will be a Zeiss-certified photography system.

Previously, the near-complete design of the soon-to-launch vivo X Note was revealed in the form of renders, showing a very similar camera system. It’s unclear if the leak from today pertains to X Note but it cannot be ruled out.

The vivo X Note will be equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor and will feature a 2K E5 120Hz AMOLED display. Its rear camera system will comprise 50MP+48MP+12MP+8MP units.

Regardless, the launch timeline of the vivo X Note, X Fold, iQOO Neo 6, X80 series, and vivo Pad have already been tipped so we should be knowing soon enough what phone the circular unit actually belongs to.

Apple may rebrand A15 Bionic as A16 for iPhone 14, with price hike

Earlier this week, we had reported on known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claiming that the upcoming iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max might ship with the last gen A15 Bionic chipset. And now, new information has further backed this information along with some other interesting details.

Apple
iPhone 14 Pro

Apart from Kuo, other notable sources like Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman have also backed this claim. If its true, this would mark the first time that the Cupertino based giant divided its iPhone lineup’s chipsets since the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. The former featured the A7 while the latter arrived with the older A6 chip. According to a iDrop News report, the iPhone 14 series will also be receiving a similar treatment this time around.

Apparently, the brand will be reusing the A15 Bionic chipset that was on the iPhone 13 series for the base iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Max model this year. However, to avoid possible backlash, the company will be rebranding the new chipset to the A16, to keep it in line with its typical annual chip refresh cycle. On the other hand, the actual new chip could be labelled as the A16 Pro, which will likely be reserved for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Apple

Notably, this move allow Apple to cut down on costs. With the mini model being discontinued, the lineup will now start at 799 US Dollars, meanwhile, the Max version will cost 100 US Dollars more. In other words, the company would still be able to maintain its usual 200 US Dollar price difference between its Pro and non Pro models.

Samsung launches Galaxy S22 Ultra 1TB model option in India

Samsung Electronics has just released a new model of its top end Galaxy S22 Ultra flagship device in India. The most expensive version in the lineup will now be available in a new 1TB storage configuration option.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra 5G

For those unaware, the South Korean tech giant had just recently launched its latest flagship Galaxy S22 series in India. This included the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus, and the the Galaxy S22 Ultra. However, the Ultra variant was only available in two storage options, namely 12GB of RAM paired with either 256GB or 512GB of internal storage. But now, the brand has released the Galaxy S22 Ultra with 12GB of RAM and a whopping 1TB of internal storage.

Apart from the notably bump in storage capacity, there is no other change in this particular model apart from its pricing. While the base Galaxy S22 Ultra with 256GB costs 109,999 INR (roughly 1,440 US Dollars) and the 512GB versions costs 118,999 INR (roughly 1,560 US Dollars), the new 1TB option is priced at 134,999 INR (roughly 1,770 US Dollars). As of right now, the device can be bought in the Phantom Black, Phantom White and Burgundy colors, but the Green option is still not available in India.

Talking about its specifications, it still packs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC and is powered by a large 5,000mAh battery pack that supports 45W fast charging and 15W wireless charging as well. It boots Android 12 OS based One UI 4.1 out of the box and sports a 6.8 inch Dynamic AMOLED 2x display that has a QHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Huawei Mate X3 key specifications tipped, bags TENAA certification

It was reported earlier this month that Huawei is working on the Huawei Mate X3 foldable phone. Today, reliable tipster Digital Chat Station took to Weibo to confirm some of the key specs of the device. It appears that the launch date of the Mate X3 may not be far away as it seems to have received approval from the TENAA authority of China.

According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the Huawei Mate X3 will be sporting an in-ward folding design and will come equipped with a high refresh rate display. He added that the device will be equipped with the Kirin 9000 4G chipset, a 4,500mAh battery, and the latest HongMeng OS (HarmonyOS) 2.0.1 edition.

Huawei Mate X2 4G
Huawei Mate X2 4G

The tipster did not share any information on the launch date of the Huawei Mate X3. A Huawei device with model number PAL-AL00 was spotted in the database of the CMIIT authority earlier this month. Now, the same device has bagged approval from the TENAA authority of China.

Speculations are rife that the Huawei PAL-AL00, which is a 4G LTE device, will break cover as the Mate X3 foldable phone. Unfortunately, the TENAA listing of the PAL-AL00 has no information on its specifications. The mere appearance of the device at TENAA is a good hint that its launch may not be far away.

Last year, Huawei announced the Huawei Mate X2 4G in June and was made available for purchase in July. Hence, it is likely that the Mate X3 4G may go official around the same time this year. To recall, the Mate X2 came with specs like a 6.45-inch 90Hz OLED cover display, an 8-inch OLED 90Hz foldable screen, a Kirin 9000 chip, 50-megapixel quad cameras, a 16-megapixel front camera, and a 4,500mAh battery with 55W fast charging support.

Apple iPhone 14 Pro models design schematics leak gives a more details look at the devices

Apple is still months away from announcing the next-generation iPhone models but still, leaks related to the upcoming iPhone 14 series have already started surfacing online.

In the latest leak, the design of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max smartphones have surfaced online, giving us a detailed look at how the devices will look and differ from the Cupertino-based giant’s current devices.

Apple iPhone 14 Pro Schematics

A well-known tipster Max Weinbach has shared design schematics for the Apple iPhone 14 Pro, giving us a super-detailed look at the design of the upcoming smartphone. It is said to measure 147.46 x 71.45 x 7.85mm, making it a bit taller and thicker than its predecessor.

On the other hand, the iPhone 14 Pro Max will be slightly shorter and thinner, but no one will be able to notice it with the naked eye. The height is going down from 160.8mm to 160.7mm while the width is being reduced from 78.1mm to 77.58mm.

Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max Schematics

It is being said that the camera bulge on the iPhone 14 Pro series smartphones will be more prominent, measuring 12.02mm compared to 11.45mm on current models. The size of the camera module is also set to increase in the new models.

If the rumors are to be believed, then the Apple iPhone 14 will continue to feature a notch on top of the screen but the Pro models will get rid of the notch and will instead have pill-shaped cutouts for the front-facing camera and Face ID sensors.

There are also reports that claim iPhone 14 and 14 Max is powered by the current-generation Apple A15 Bionic process while the 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max will come powered by the new A16 Bionic chip built using 4nm process. We expect to get more information about the devices in the coming months.

Design

The design is not the strong point of the iPhone SE 2022. Even though it debuted in 2022, it has a very old design as it looks like the old iPhone 8 from 2017. This means it comes with thick bezels around the display: indeed, there is room for the old Touch ID including a fingerprint reader below the display. The Samsung Galaxy S22 is definitely better in terms of design, thanks to a borderless display with a centrally-placed punch hole and an elegant glass back. The Samsung Galaxy S22 is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus Plus and it has the IP68 certification, while the iPhone SE 2022 is protected by Ceramic Shield and has the IP67 certification. Both are great in terms of build quality.

Display

The iPhone SE 2022 comes with a pretty nice Retina display sporting a diagonal of 4.7 inches, but the Samsung Galaxy S22 beats it easily. The S22 sports a Dynamic AMOLED 2X display (while the iPhone has an LCD panel) with a diagonal of 6.1 inches, a higher Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels, the HDR10+ certification, and even a high 120 Hz refresh rate. It provides higher color accuracy and deeper blacks, as well as an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint reader instead of the outdated Touch ID. There is definitely no challenge: the panel found on the Samsung Galaxy S22 is superior from every point of view.

Specs & Software

The iPhone SE 2022 and the Samsung Galaxy S22 are flagship phones which have nothing to envy if compared to the other flagships in the current market. The former is powered by the Apple A15 Bionic chipset: the same processor as the iPhone 13 series, but it is paired with 4 GB of RAM and either 64 or 256 GB of internal storage. The latter is fueled either by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or the Samsung Exynos 2200 SoC paired with 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage depending on the memory configuration. Despite the Galaxy S22 looking better on paper, the iPhone SE 2022 provides higher performance thanks to the optimization of the iOS operating system.

Camera

The Samsung Galaxy S22 comes with superior cameras as well. It has a 50 MP main sensor with OIS, a 10 MP telephoto camera with OIS and 3x optical zoom, and a 12 MP ultrawide lens. It supports PDAF, 4K video recording at 60 fps, and 8K video recording at 24 fps. The iPhone SE 2022 has just one single 12 MP rear camera which provides great photo quality, but it can not compete with the Galaxy S22.

Battery

The Samsung Galaxy S22 is equipped with a bigger 3700 mAh battery and, despite the iOS optimization, it provides a longer battery life in several scenarios because the iPhone has a way smaller unit. Both the phones support fast charging and wireless charging, but the charging speeds are not very high.

Price

The iPhone SE 2022 has a €499/$429 starting price, while the Samsung Galaxy S22 starts from $799/€799. The Samsung flagship is definitely a better device thanks to its great build quality, superior display, and cameras. But you can save a lot of money by choosing the iPhone while still getting the top-notch performance and an amazing phone from every aspect.

The Europe rollout of the Huawei Vision S series begins with Spain but it is expected to subsequently spread to other markets. There are no differences in the Europe version from the initial 55-inch and 65-inch models earlier launched in China. They are however budget TVs which is quite a bargain for their features.

The Huawei Vision S 55” is offered at a discounted price of €400 ($439) while the Vision S 65” is sold at €600 ($659). The discounts subsist till March 27 when the TVs will revert to their original prices of €800 ($878) and €1,000 ($1,098) respectively. Huawei says a wall-mount and generous payment plans details are available from the Spanish website of the company. Interested buyers in Spain should therefore go to the product page of the Huawei Vision S for more details.

As per ports, the Huawei Vision S has three HDMI 2.0 ports, one USB-A port, six mics, a 13MP webcam, and four speakers. The two models run on Huawei’s homegrown Harmony OS 2.0. The lineup of input ports available and the 120Hz display refresh rates of the Vision S models means that the TV may not be suitable for gaming via the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X.

Apple’s iPhone SE 3 teardown reveals Snapdragon X57 modem & 2,018mAh battery capacity

A YouTube video of the teardown of the iPhone SE 3 has surfaced. The video provides an insightful look into the internals of the third-generation budget iPhone SE. The teardown indicates that the iPhone SE 3 has a larger battery than its predecessor the iPhone SE 2 and also comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon X57 modem for 5G connectivity.

When compared with the iPhone SE 2 battery at 1,821 mAh, the iPhone SE 3 has a larger 2,018 mAh battery. This translates to up to two extra hours of video playback or 10 hours of audio playback for the new model. The Snapdragon X57 modem seems to be custom-made for the iPhone SE 3 and its 5G support is limited to bands below 6GHz. Unlike the iPhone 13 series, the iPhone SE 3 will not support the faster mmWave bands in the 5G spectrum.

The iPhone SE 3 has an additional 1GB of RAM resource ahead of its predecessor. Its 4GB of RAM provides a marginal increment in processing capabilities. The YouTube video does not indicate any repairability metrics for the iPhone SE 3 although more teardown details could be out in the coming days. Overall, the iPhone SE 3 has similar internals to the iPhone SE 2.
