Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro flagship smartphones now available in Italy and Spain

It’s been a few months since Google announced its flagship smartphones — Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. Now, both these smartphones from the company are finally available for purchase in Italy and Spain.

With the availability of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro smartphones in Italy and Spain, the latest flagship devices from Google are now available in 11 countries. This is also the first time the tech giant is expanding the availability of phones to new regions.

Pixel 6 Pro featured

The Google Pixel 6 lineup is available in only Just Black or Carbon color option in Italy and Spain. The standard model is priced at €649 for the 128GB storage model while the Pro model with 128GB storage costs €899.

The company says that both the devices will have “limited availability” and adds that additional devices will be made available from May. It remains unknown what’s the stock count for both these new offerings.

For those who are unaware, the Pixel 6 series phones were already available in select European markets ever since their unveiling in October last year, which include United Kingdom, France, the Republic of Ireland, and Germany.

These are the first smartphones from Google that come powered by the company’s own Google Tensor chipset and not Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processor. The strategy seems to have worked as the company recently revealed that these new phones managed to break all the previous phone sales records.

The launch of Pixel 6 series phones in other regions come at a time when the company is expected to soon launch the Pixel 6a smartphone. However, the launch is still months away and we expect to know more about the phone in the coming weeks.

POCO X4 5G launch imminent, bags vital certification

POCO X4 5G with 2201116PG model number was spotted at Malaysia’s SIRIM certification platform in January. Now the same device has been approved by Thailand’s National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC). These certifications show that the POCO X4 5G may launch as early as this month.

The NBTC has no information on the hardware specs of the POCO X4 5G. What makes the story confusing is that the same 2201116PG was seen with POCO X4 Pro 5G moniker at TDRA. There is a possibility that there could be some error with the TDRA listing. Past reports have revealed that the 220116PG is the model number of the Indian variant of the POCO X4 5G.

Reports have claimed that the POCO X4 5G will be a rebranded version of the global Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G. As it has happened with previously released Redmi-POCO rebranded phones, the POCO X4 may arrive with a unique rear design as compared to the Redmi model.

POCO X4 5G specifications

The POCO X4 5G is likely to feature a 6.67-inch S-AMOLED FHD+ 120Hz display. The device will feature a 16-megapixel selfie camera and a 108-megapixel (main) + 8-megapixel (ultrawide) + 2-megapixel (macro) triple camera unit. The device may come preinstalled with MIUI 13 and Android 11 OS.

The Snapdragon 695 chipset may power the POCO X4 5G. The handset may ship with up to 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 256GB of storage. It may house a 5,000mAh battery that carries support for 67W fast charging. The device may come other features like dual speakers, a side-facing fingerprint scanner, and a microSD card slot.

POCO is yet to launch its first smartphone this year. Probably, the POCO X4 5G could be the company’s first phone this year, which may debut as early as this month in multiple markets including India.

Apple’s new patent reveals sunroof technology with user-controlled transparency for Apple Car

Apple has been making the rounds for its upcoming product that hasn’t even been officially confirmed by the technology giant — Apple Car. The electric vehicle from the company, which is being developed as Project Titan, has cropped up in news several times.

Now, yet another news related to the Apple Car has surfaced online and this time it is related to a patent that the Cupertino-based company filed and has now been granted.

Apple Car Sunroof Patent

The US Patent and Trademark Office has granted a new patent to Apple which appears to be a sunroof technology for the upcoming electric car from the company. While it doesn’t explicitly confirm that the technology is for the car but it doesn’t need any confirmation as sunroof technology is not something that can be used on an iPhone or iPad or even Mac.

The document also shows various drawings of what appears to be a car’s roof. Some of the diagrams indicate how the sunroof would move while some showcase the mechanism within the sunroof.

Further, an abstract in the patent application reads: “a vehicle includes a roof, an opening in the roof, and a window that is located forward from the opening.” This effectively confirms that it is for the car. The patent reveals a variable opacity glass which means that the user will be able to control the transparency of the sunroof.

A recent report had claimed that the upcoming Apple Car, which will be an electric vehicle with support for a fully autonomous self-driving feature, could debut by 2025. The project is facing several issues but the top-most problem is the company’s inability to retain people who are working on this project.

OnePlus 10 Pro vs Google Pixel 6 Pro: Specs Comparison

Finally, Pixel phones are flagships again. Google released the Pixel 6 Pro last year and it is currently expanding to more regions, even though there are actually limited quantities available in some of them. Recently, data showed that OnePlus has beaten Google in its own country in terms of sales: the USA. But can OnePlus phones compete with Google ones in every aspect? This comparison will highlight the differences between the best flagships of each brand: the OnePlus 10 Pro and the Google Pixel 6 Pro. If you are having a hard time choosing between these two devices, this comparison between their specifications will make your life easier.

Design

I love the design of the Google Pixel 6 Pro because it is very original. Its horizontal camera module and its bicolor rear cover are simply amazing. But the OnePlus 10 Pro is another stunning phone if we talk about aesthetics, especially thanks to its curved screen at the sides. Both the phones have a body made of glass and an aluminum frame, but the only waterproof phone is the Google Pixel 6 Pro with its IP68 certification. Unlike the OnePlus 9 Pro, the 10 Pro does not offer any certification against water and dust. It is very hard to choose the best design, but according to my tastes, the Pixel 6 Pro has something more to offer thanks to its original look.

Display

On the paper, it looks like the OnePlus 10 Pro has a better display. It is an AMOLED panel with the LTPO 2.0 technology providing very low energy consumption and an adaptive refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz. The screen shows up to one billion colors with a Quad HD+ resolution of 1440 x 3216 pixels, it has a diagonal of 6.7 inches, the HDR10+ certification, and the Gorilla Glass Victus protection. Despite the OnePlus 10 Pro looks to have better specs, the Google Pixel 6 Pro still comes with one of the best displays out there: an AMOLED panel with a Quad HD+ resolution of 1440 x 3120 pixels, the LTPO technology, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and the HDR10+ standard.

Specs & Software

The Google Pixel 6 Pro is equipped with the first Google’s proprietary chipset: the Google Tensor with very advanced machine learning capabilities, paired with 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage. However, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 mobile platform found on the OnePlus 10 Pro is actually more powerful. It is built with a 4 nm production process and runs at a max frequency of 3 GHz. It is paired with up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of UFS 3.1 native storage. The real advantage of the Pixel 6 Pro is the software: it ships with a stock version of Android 12 and it will be the fastest phone to get the new major update to the next Android version because it is a Google device. However, the OnePlus 10 Pro will still get great software support and it is rumored to get the unified operating system created by OPPO and OnePlus.

Camera

It is very hard to establish which is the best camera phone of this duo and software optimization will play a very important role in this aspect. The Google Pixel 6 Pro has a definitely better telephoto sensor with its 48 MP resolution and 4x optical zoom. Even the main camera is more interesting. On the other hand, the OnePlus 10 Pro has a superior ultrawide camera with a 50 MP resolution and a 150° FOV, as well as the Hasselblad optimizations. I personally prefer the Pixel 6 Pro.

Battery

The Google Pixel 6 Pro and the OnePlus 10 Pro have more or less the same battery capacity and I do not expect big differences in terms of battery life. But the OnePlus flagship features faster charging technologies: 80W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

Price

OnePlus 10 Pro is priced at €650/$744 in China and it is still not available globally, while the Google Pixel 6 Pro costs €900 in Europe and $760 in the U.S. The OnePlus 10 Pro has a lot of better specifications on paper, but the Pixel 6 Pro comes with great software features and cameras. Which device would you pick?

OnePlus 10 Pro vs Google Pixel 6 Pro: PRO and CONS

  • Amazing ultrawide camera
  • Faster charging
  • One billion colors display
  • Dual SIM
  • Better chipset

Check out the sleek 2022 Lexus RZ 450e electric SUV teasers

Ahead of its scheduled sale later this year, Lexus has provided an official teaser of the 2022 Lexus RZ 450e electric SUV. The new pictures are the sequel to earlier ones already released providing some stunning details of the electric SUV. The Lexus RZ 450e is built around the same philosophy underpinning the Toyota bZ4X, although there are some exterior design departures noticeable in the new images. 2022 Lexus RZ 450e electric SUV

The Lexus RZ 450e is scheduled to be released in the spring and it will be the company’s first all-electric SUV. The company hopes that the new model could rival some of the established electric SUVs like the Tesla Model Y and the Skoda Enyaq. The Lexus RZ 450e seems to be the culmination of extensive development in the conceptualization of a unique vehicle that retains the luxury and premium appearance attached to the Lexus brand.2022 Lexus RZ 450e electric SUV

The new images do not include any details about the interior of the Lexus RZ 450e. The company may be holding the details for a subsequent teaser most probably, as it continues to hype the model and build momentum for its spring release. Lexus provided a sneak peek of the interior when it released a video of its CEO driving inside the vehicle, although the little details indicate a similar layout to the Toyota bZ4X. There is a five-seat configuration and a high center console. We expect a little deviation from the infotainment system, although there could be some tech innovations that the company may want to debut on the RZ 450e. 2022 Lexus RZ 450e electric SUV

The Lexus RZ 450e electric SUV will have a range of about 280 miles (534km), with the capacity to gallop from 0-100km/h in 7.7 seconds. The RZ 450e will probably have the same 71.4kWh battery as the bZ4X and a dual-motor powertrain. The transmission mechanism of the electric SUV will revolve around the DIRECT4 which will make the car very versatile in transiting from four-wheel drive to rear-wheel drive and other options as determined by the driving conditions.

There are no details at this time about the pricing of the Lexus RZ 450e electric SUV, but this could be a premium offering in the SUV segment pitched higher than some of the current models.

iQOO 9 teardown & durability test surface, survives the process

A new video showing a teardown and torture process for the recently released iQOO 9 phones may be indicative of the durability of the device. The iQOO 9 series were released recently and the new test video adds to the growing stories about the durability and ruggedness of iQOO smartphones generally.

The tests began with a 30-second water immersion of the phone to determine its water-resistance capabilities even without any official IP rating. The device came out unscathed from the immersion test and was then put through a scratch test with light imprints observed at levels 6 and 7 and deeper groves at levels 8 and 9. Some scratches were also noticed on the buttons and side frame of the device. In terms of its overall durability score, the iQOO 9 was excellent with a 9/10. This shows that the iQOO 9 is structurally rigid and holds firm even when force is applied from the front or back.

The video also showed the teardown of the iQOO 9. The large graphite film strip around the phone after removing the back panel provides sufficient heat dissipation and keeps the phone cool. The dual-cell battery offers a total of 4700mAh battery capacity. The internal components of the phone did not indicate any damage from water or any severe impact of the torture test. The repairability score of the iQOO 9 was given as 4.5/10 due to difficulties in the screen replacement which could be quite tasking.

There is no indication of the identity of the person that carried out the torture test and teardown, while iQOO has not made any statement on the results at this time.

Nintendo Switch edges the Wii to become the brand’s best-selling console

Japanese video game maker Nintendo has today published its sales data for the fourth quarter of 2021. The data shows that the company sold a total of 103.54 million units of the Switch game console which is knocks of the Wii console as the best-selling console ever. For com[arison, the brand sold a total of 101.63 million units of the Wii console before it was discontinued in 2013.

Nintendo first launched the Switch gaming console in March 2013. Thus, it took just five years for the console to achieve this enormous feat of becoming Nintendo’s best-selling console. Apart from the Wii, the Switch also surpassed the original Playstation which had a total sales of 102.5 million. jumped to fifth place in the history of game console sales.

Sales of the Switch slumped in the fourth quarter of 2021, though, with the company only able to ship 10.67 million units, a year-on-year decrease of nearly 8%. However, when compared with the latest PlayStation 5 which recorded just 3.9 million units, the Switch is still quite popular for a gadget that has been on sale for 5 years.

However, Nintendo did lower its forecast for the Switch’s shipments this fiscal year by a further 1 million units. It now expects shipments of 23 million, down from the 24 million it forecast in November.

Just as the console is popular, the Switch games are equally popular with figures reaching 760 million copies. The iconic Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Edition alone saw a cumulative sales of 43.35 million copies, making it the best-selling game from the brand.

Former Subway Surfers publisher launches MetroLand exclusively on Huawei AppGallery

After Introducing Angry Birds 2 back in July 2021 to the AppGallery, Huawei has now made another massive inclusion to its proprietary app ecosystem.

MetroLand

Kiloo, the co-developer, and publisher of the massively successful Subway Surfers (between 2012-2020) has exclusively launched their new game on the Huawei AppGallery dubbed MetroLand. The game is quite similar to Subway Surfers as it is an endless runner game and applies the same core mechanics as its predecessor. However, it incorporates new design trends, polished gameplay, and adds new meta elements to appeal to a wider variety of user profiles.

MetroLand, as the title suggests, has a metropolitan setting. The gameplay takes place across a number of cities and includes seven different areas that unlock as progress is made. It aims to illustrate busy, modern city life with an emphasis on momentum, speed, and excitement. You can play as one of the many characters offered by the game in their quest to rebel against the evil MegaCorp.

The game is targeted at a broader audience and therefore will bring regular updates themed around annual events like Halloween, and other holidays as well as weekly events to keep players engaged. The game also offers character progression by introducing mechanics such as evolving characters by sending them on missions and evolving them as you go through the levels.

This new addition to Huawei’s AppGallery is sure to attract new users and fans of endless running games. It will also offer an increased variety of games available on the platform for existing users.

On the release of MetroLand on the AppGallery, Dr. Jaime Gonzalo, VP of Huawei Mobile Services states “Games can be longer or shorter, easier or harder, cartoonish or realistic. But ultimately what separates good games from the great ones is their level of fun. And that´s precisely the key criteria for the AppGallery editors to cherry-pick the best games in the market for our users. With that logic in mind, we are extremely pleased to offer to all AppGallery users across all Android smartphones, the next generation of endless runners, from the hands of those who hold the crown in that genre, the outstanding Kiloo team.”
