While the Vivo V23 lineup is scheduled to launch in India on 5th January 2022, a new leak has revealed the official pricing for the V23 smartphone series. The leak arrives from a known online retailer in India.
Vivo V23 series price leaked by Vijay Sales online seller.
The pricing leak was first reported by @yabhishekhd on Twitter. Although, it appears that the prices being shared by online seller Vijay Sales might have been unintentional since the links to the various V23 series configurations do not lead to the official listing anymore. But, Abhishek Yadav did share the pricing and storage variants in the tweet. Notably, the price leaks are also in line with a tip that we had covered previously.
Looking at the leaked pricing:
Vivo V23 5G
8GB+128GB – ₹31,990 (roughly 430 US Dollars)

It sports a 6.56 inch curved edge AMOLED display with an FHD+ resolution, a 90Hz refresh rate, and an in display fingerprint scanner. Meanwhile, the base V23 is expected to feature a 6.44 inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate as well. So stay tuned for more as we will be covering the launch event tomorrow.
Earlier today (4th January 2022), the official launch date for the highly anticipated OnePlus 10 Pro was finally revealed. But prior to its release, a company executive has officially revealed live images of the Pro model in all its glory. So let’s take a look at the upcoming flagship smartphone.
Pete Lau, the Founder of OnePlus, shared multiple images of the OnePlus 10 Pro on his official Weibo account (a Chinese microblogging website). Looking at these images, we can observe that the device will be available in at least a Green and Black variant. But while the color and design seem quite elegant, there is one aspect of the device that stands out, which is its unusually large rear camera module.
At a glance, it appears as if the module alone takes up around a quarter of the entire rear panel. This is definitely an exaggeration, but the large black module does take away from the overall elegant design. Furthermore, it is unclear how tall the camera bump will be on the rear. The Chinese smartphone maker’s official also acknowledges that the reception of the OnePlus 10 series’ design has been mixed, with some loving the radical new design while others even hating the redesign.
Looking at the OnePlus 10 Pro from the rear, it might even seem that the device’s camera is like a modular add on. However, we have to admit that the green model looks quite beautiful and premium, which is arguably even better than the black model. So let us know in the comments section down below how you feel about the OnePlus 10 Pro’s design. Also, stay tuned for more, as we will be covering any leaks and the January 11 launch event as well.

With the OnePlus 10 series launch being just around the corner, a new report has surfaced which hints at one of the variants in the flagship lineup. Apparently, the company will be launching one model within its latest high end series that features the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SoC.
The news arrives from MySmartPriceand known tipster Yogesh Brar. As of right now, the Chinese smartphone maker has yet to announce the exact launch dates for its upcoming flagship phones, although, it is rumored to first unveil the Pro variant on 11th January 2022 while the vanilla model would launch sometime after. But now, the new tip revealed a key specification of the base variant.
For those unaware, MediaTek had recently unveiled its top end mobile processor for premium handsets. It features a 1+3+4 cluster and is based on a 4nm process, with a maximum clock speed of 3.0GHz on its most powerful core. So while the OnePlus 10 Pro is set to be among the first flagship smartphones to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, it appears that the base model will be one of the first to ship with the Dimensity 9000 processor.
Notably, the tipster further added that OnePlus will soon begin testing the new smartphones with its unified operating system with Oppo for the global markets. With both companies merging, the new devices would likely ship with a Android 12 based ColorOS 12 or OxygenOS 12 out of the box. Keep in mind that this is still an unconfirmed report so take it with a pinch of salt and stick around as we will be covering any other leaks or reports regarding this matter.

It is common to see smartphone companies promote their models by comparing them to other models from rival brands that fall in the same product category. It is also common to see OEMs troll each other for more reason or the other as a marketing tool. But what is probably not common is a company directly offering to swap a rival brand’s model with its own. That is what Indian firm Lava is presently doing with the Realme 8s.
Turns out Lava is offering Realme 8s owners the chance to swap their units for a Lava AGNI 5G. The thing is Lava AGNI 5G and Realme 8s booth share similar specs except for a few differences. The differences lie in the display size where the AGNI 5G pack a 6.78-inch display as against a 6.5-inch screen for the Realme model. Also, the AGNI 5G packs a quad-camera setup at the rear consisting of a 64MP+5MP+2MP+2MP setup whereas the *s has a triple camera setup made up of a 64MP+2MP+2MP combo. It is left for users to decide if the offer is worth taking up considering the specs are almost similar. But then, who would like to snap a used phone for a brand new one. It sounds inviting but we can’t guarantee that you’ll get the same software experience on both models. The company will definitely be riding on the back of its popularity as an indigenous Indian brand to get this offer flying. Even at that, it is a tough nut convincing an average phone user to swap a realme model for a similarly specced Lava phone.
The offer is open to owners of both the 6GB and 8GB variants of the Realme 8s. It will run from January 3rd to January 7 and can be accessed from Lava’s e-store.
The Xiaomi 12 series is finally official and, besides the vanilla version and the Pro variant, it includes a very affordable flagship killer for those who want to save money while still getting several flagship-class specifications: the Xiaomi 12X. It carries a very affordable price if compared to the specifications and it is sold in the same price range as the Realme GT Neo2. That is the reason why we decided to publish a comparison between the specifications of the Xiaomi 12X and the Realme GT Neo2. While waiting for the global launch of the former, you can now realize which one offers the highest value on the paper through this comparison.

Design
Despite they were released by two different brands, the Xiaomi 12X and the Realme GT Neo2 have a lot in common when it comes to design. They have a similar camera module on the rear side and a borderless display with a punch hole for the front camera. The materials used belong to the same class, but the color options of the Realme GT Neo2 are a bit more interesting. On the other hand, the Xiaomi 12X is a lot more compact and thinner than its rival, which is why a lot of people may prefer it as it is one of the most compact high-end phones out there.
Display
The Xiaomi 12X has one of the smallest displays in the high-end segment with a diagonal of just 6.28 inches. But it is also one of the best displays and on the paper, it is better than the panel found on the Relame GT 2 Pro. The Xiaomi 12X has an OLED display that shows up to one billion colors and sports a 120 Hz refresh rate, the HDR10+ certification, and Dolby Vision, as well as a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and the Gorilla Glass Victus protection by Corning. The Realme GT 2 Pro has just 16 million colors and it lacks Dolby Vision support, but it has a wider 6.62-inch display which is actually better in terms of dimensions for productivity and gaming. Both the phones are equipped with an in-display fingerprint reader.
Specs & Software
Xiaomi 12X and Realme GT Neo2 have exactly the same hardware department. They are fueled by the Snapdragon 870 mobile platform by Qualcomm built at 7 nm and running at a max frequency of 3.2 GHz. The SoC is paired with either 8 or 12 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of UFS 3.1 native storage. Same processor, same RAM, and same storage, but different Android version: the Xiaomi 12X is very recent and it runs Android 12, while Realme GT Neo2 runs Android 11 out of the box.
Camera
The rear cameras of the Xiaomi 12X are superior to the Realme GT Neo2. The main sensor is a 50 MP lens with OIS and it is paired with a 13 MP ultrawide camera and a 5 MP telephoto macro sensor. Realme GT 2 Neo2 has an inferior 64 MP sensor without OIS, an inferior 8 MP ultrawide camera, and an inferior 2 MP macro camera. The Xiaomi 12X even wins the selfie comparison thanks to a 32 MP front snapper.
The Realme GT Neo2 wins the battery life comparison simply because it is equipped with a bigger battery: the capacity is 5000 mAh and it allows for longer battery life in every scenario because the phone comes with similar components to the Xiaomi 12X. Charging speeds are not so different because these phones support 65W fast charging and 67W fast charging, respectively.
Price
The Realme GT Neo2 is priced at about €306/$345 in the Chinese market, while the starting price of the Xiaomi 12X in China is close to €445/$503. The Xiaomi 12X is a superior handset thanks to its better display and better cameras, but there is also an important price difference between these two handsets. Further, note that Realme GT Neo2 has a wider display and a bigger battery. Which one would you pick?
Overheating of chips is an important part of their production process and chip makers continue to seek ways of keeping their chips cool while not affecting overall performance. There are reports that three top-of-the-line chips which will be debuting in some of this year’s flagship smartphones could be having overheating problems. The chips are the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, Samsung’s Exynos 2200, and MediaTek’s Dimensity 9000, which are all top-end super-functional chips of their various manufacturers.
Taiwanese company TSMC is the producer of the Dimensity 9000 while Samsung Foundry assembled both the Exynos 2200 and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. All three chips are produced using the 4nm node process and there had been some tweets by a few tipsters pointing to the presence of the overheating problem in these top-end chips. The leaks related to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 which was observed to overheat when put through the paces in the Motorola Edge X30, one of the few models sporting the flagship chip.
TSMC has a superior 4nm process than Samsung Foundry, hence the Dimensity 9000 could perform better and experience less overheating than the other two chips. Although the views by the tipsters are not definitive, it remains to be seen how the demand for these high-end chips pans out this year. The global chip shortage is still projected to persist beyond the first half of 2022.

Benchmarking outfit AnTuTu has released its smartphone ranking for the month of December 2021. The report shows that there’s no significant difference in the ranking compared to that of November 2021. Things will likely change this January considering the launch of new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 smartphones.
Xiaomi’s Black Shark 4S Pro maintains its lead at the top of the charts for flagship models. The gaming smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus chipset paired with 16GB RAM and has maintained the lead since October. The second spot is occupied by Nubia Red Magic 6S Pro while the iQOO 8 Pro completes the top 3 best performing smartphones.
AnTuTu did say that the lack of sufficient data was responsible for the absence of the Snapdragon 8 Gen1-powered phones on the chart despite the launch of two models viz-a-viz Xiaomi 12 and Motorola Edge 30 Ultra in December 2021. We expect the models to dominate the rankings for January 2022 which will be released in February. Already, the models are on sales with the Xiaomi 12 series recording a huge sales in its first outing.
For the midrange segment, Vivo’s iQOO Z5 maintains its lead yet again despite a stiff competition from other brands. Honor 60 Pro emerge as the second best mid-ranger around, replacing the OPPO K9s 5G. The Honor 60 Pro is on par with the iQOO Z5 with the presence of UFS 3.1 storage being the major difference between both models. The Reno 7 from OPPO is also another new entrant into the charts, clinching the third spot.
