Tesla urged by Indian Minister to not sell China made EVs in South Asian nations

Indian Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has urged Tesla to stop selling its electric cars made in China to other countries in South Asia. The news arrives prior to the company’s EVs entering the Indian market.

Tesla

According to SCMP, the Minister stated that the American electric car manufacturer should “make cars in India, sell in India and export from India.” Furthermore, the brand should also rely on local suppliers. The Minister further added that Tesla car models in India will cost around 35 lakh INR or about 46,600 US Dollars and the local government is aiming on helping the brand bring its EVs into the country.

Back in August, Tesla had stated that it has received approval to make or import four of its EV car models in India. As of right now, the company is manufacturing its vehicles in factories in the US and in Shanghai, China, while also awaiting final approval for a new plant in Germany as well. Meanwhile, India is also trying to diversify its supply chains away from China, due to recent frictions caused by military clashes in the border regions last year.

Prior to Tesla’s arrival in India, the company’s chief executive Elon Musk stated that the firm’s new electric vehicle plant near Berlin is expected to start producing new cars as early as next month. This factory will be making Model Y cars around November or December and will likely sources its batteries from the company’s factory in China.

OPPO Reno7 to feature 50MP Sony IMX766 camera sensor: Leaker

At the end of September, details about OPPO Reno7 series emerged from a reliable source. A few days later, the same source has shed some details on the devices’ camera system. Let’s take a look  at what the tipster has to say.

OPPO Reno 6 5G Review Cameras
OPPO Reno6 5G

Digital Chat Station was the leaker who shared some information about the upcoming OPPO Reno7 series. Today, the tipster is back again with more details.

According to him, the OPPO Reno7 series will use large-sized camera sensors. He specifically mentions that the vanilla OPPO Reno 7 will come equipped with a 50MP Sony IMX766 primary sensor, which measures 1/1.56” in size.

For those unaware, the current-gen OPPO Reno6 (review) as well as OPPO Reno6 Pro (review) sport an inferior 64MP OmniVision OV64B main sensor, which has a smaller size of 1/2″. We were unsatisfied with the camera performance on these two phones. Hopefully, the new improved sensors on the next-gen bring improvements.

Previously, the leaker revealed that the standard OPPO Reno7 will feature a metal frame and a punch-hole at the top left corner like its predecessor. He also mentioned that it will have a triple camera setup and a notification LED ring.

Last but not least, as per Digital Chat Station, the OPPO Reno7 will compete with yet-to-release vivo S12.

OnePlus 9RT roundup: Specs, Price, Colors, & More – What to Expect!

The OnePlus ‘R’ series is meant to give back to OnePlus devotees what they lost ever since the company raised its prices for its top-of-the-line offerings. Take the OnePlus 9R, for example, that launched for ‘just’ INR 39,999 ($532), yet offers near-flagship specifications. The phone continues to be a compelling buy even now, but OnePlus seems intent on upholding its tradition of launching two versions of the same device in the same year.

The OnePlus 9RT is now all to be making its debut on October 13, and here’s all you need to know before making up your mind about the purchase.

Design & Display

Thanks to official posters, we now know that the OnePlus 9RT will feature a design pretty much its predecessor. The main difference will lie in its camera module which now sports three cameras instead of the OnePlus 9R’s four, although this isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

OnePlus 9RT

The display should be identical to the one found on the 9R. This means that it will continue to be a super-fluid 6.55″ AMOLED 120Hz panel with HDR10+ support.

Cameras on the OnePlus 9RT

There are rumors suggesting that the OnePlus 9RT will be coming with the same IMX766 50MP sensor as the one found on the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro, although it is yet to be confirmed. If true, the device will be granting top-notch camera performance to its beholder, a far cry from the 48MP IMX586 found on its predecessor. But let’s not get too carried away for now.

Apart from the primary camera, there are barely any details at hand regarding the OnePlus 9RT’s photography capabilities. Still, it is safe to assume that the rest of the cameras will remain unchanged, meaning a 16MP ultrawide and a 5MP macro will be complimenting the 50MP primary on the rear. And a 16MP selfie camera will be present upfront.

OnePlus 9RT

That one lost camera from the back will most likely be the 2MP monochrome, which was barely any use anyway.

Other Specifications

The most significant officially confirmed upgrade will be the usage of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor. Fabricated on the 5nm process, the chip should translate to improved performance with regular usage as well as games, all while being more efficient.

The chip will be supported with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM that can be expanded by 7GB thanks to virtual RAM support, and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. The phone’s display will be a Samsung E4 panel. A tipster had also revealed that the device will be packing a 4,500mAh battery with 65T Warp Charge support.

OnePlus 9RT Screen Teaser

Further, OnePlus had confirmed that the 9RT will have an improved cooling system, a 600Hz ultra-sensitive touch, and an extremely low screen latency.

Software

There is confusion regarding the Android and OxygenOS (based on ColorOS) version the OnePlus 9RT will be running, although reliable leakster Digital Chat Station had said that it will be ColorOS 12 based on Android 11, at least in China.

OxygenOS 12 Open Beta

This is quite odd, however, considering ColorOS 12 is still in its beta phase and is linked to Android 12 and not 11.

Colors & Release

The OnePlus 9RT will be available in blue, silver, and black. The black will be called ‘Hacker Black‘ while the silver will likely be called ‘Nano Silver’. An announcement date of October 13 7:30 PM (local time) has been confirmed in China. The sale will commence October 19 in the country. Official news regarding a global launch is still awaited but should follow soon enough.

OnePlus 9RT price in China is reported to be between CNY 2,000 (~Rs. 23,250) and CNY 3,000 (~Rs. 34,800).

A new vivo Watch with eSIM and Bluetooth 5.1 gets certified

Last September, vivo launched its first smartwatch in China. Even a year later, this wearable is still exclusive to the brand’s home country. A few days back, a reliable leaker hinted at the release of tentatively named vivo Watch 2. Now, this product appears to have been listed on a couple of certification agencies.

According to a report by ITHome, a new vivo smartwatch has appeared on TENAA and Bluetooth SIG. This product has model number WA2156A.

As per the listings, the watch not only supports Bluetooth 5.1 but also 4G LTE connectivity via eSIM. This goes in line with the leak by Digital Chat Station from late September.

The tipster revealed that apart from eSIM, the next-gen wearable from vivo will also have support for more third-party applications like the recently launched Xiaomi Watch Color 2.  He also said that it will have a circular dial like its predecessor.

However, he did not mention if the second-gen vivo Watch will be available in two sizes like the original. For those unaware, the vivo Watch from 2020 comes in two versions – 42mm and 46mm. The larger variant not only has a big screen but also longer battery life.

That said, as the new vivo Watch has now started getting certifications, we expect to learn more about it in the coming days. Above all, unlike the first-gen, this one could make its way to India.

Another report hints at Huawei Mate 50 series launching next year

Huawei, the Chinese company which has been struggling ever since the United States imposed several sanctions, managed to launch a flagship smartphone earlier this year, in the form of the Huawei P50 series.

Now, the company is gearing up to launch a new Mate-series flagship smartphone lineup in its home country. While the phones were expected to get launched by now, the official announcement has been pushed to early next year.

Amid rumors about the Huawei Mate 50 series getting canceled, a tipster from China has claimed that the upcoming lineup hasn’t been canceled and has also revealed some key details about the device.

It is being claimed that the Huawei Mate 50 series phones will get launched in the first half of next year. On the other hand, some reports hint the launch timeline to be somewhere towards the end of Q2 2022.

Further, there are reports hinting that the devices will come powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 4G chipset. Previous reports have suggested that the phone will come equipped with an LTPO display which is the same technology that we are seeing in the newly launched Apple iPhone 13 Pro series. This could mean that the phone will have support for adaptive refresh rate, with support for a high refresh rate of 120Hz.

There’s also a possibility of the Huawei Mate 50 smartphone having support for satellite connectivity when the cellular network isn’t available. The feature can be used to communicate via short message service (SMS) where a cellular network isn’t an option.

For this, the company has reportedly opted for the Beidou Satellite System. It is being reported that because of this new feature addition, the launch of the upcoming flagship smartphone from Huawei has been delayed.

Apple Watch Series 7 pre-order shipments pushed back to December

A few days ago, Apple officially started taking pre-orders for its latest Apple Watch Series 7 after announcing the new wearable devices a few weeks ago. The company had delayed the launch by a couple of weeks because of production issues.

As it turns out, the production issue is quite real and it seems that the company hasn’t fixed it yet. Those who have pre-ordered the latest Apple Watch Series 7 smartwatches are finding out that the shipment dates have been pushed back to December while some higher-priced models are marked as “currently unavailable.”

It is reported that the devices priced at $899 are listed as “currently unavailable” which are made from silver titanium with a leather band, as well as a black titanium one with a silicone band. The Apple Watch models that are part of Hermes’ partnership are showing delivery dates in the month of November and December.

Apple has been facing shipments issues with the newly launched iPhone 13 series smartphones as well, with shipments dates pushed to November for some units. It remains to be seen if the technology giant manages to sort out the production issues ahead of the holiday season that is about to begin.

Analysts are expecting the company to generate revenue of nearly $120 billion during the three months, starting from October to the end of the year. In that case, the numbers would result in a 7 percent year-over-year gain for Apple.

Internally, the Apple Watch Series 7 packs similar sensors and processors as its predecessor but runs on the latest watchOS 8 user interface with lots of amazing features and improved algorithms. The devices come in five different color options — Black, Blue, Gold, Red, and Dark Grey.

It also comes with several new watch faces, has IP6X water and dust resistance rating. The highlight is the battery, which the company claims offers up to 18 hours of normal usage when fully charged and can be charged through the USB-C port. Apple also adds that 8 minutes of charging of the device offers 8 hours of battery life.
