ZMI 33W Charger 1A1C with iPhone 13 compatibility goes official

Back in June, ZMI GaN Charger 65W 1A1C was released in China. Now two months later, the brand has launched a 33W version of this charger without GaN (Gallium Nitride). The new product is called ZMI 33W Charger 1A1C and it is advertised as compatible with iPhone 13 series.

The new ZMI charger comes in a matte green color option. As the name suggests, it supports up to 33W output and features two ports (USB Type-A, USB Type-C). It also sports a foldable pin.

The power adapter supports Xiaomi’s proprietary charging protocols (22.5W, 33W), USB PD (Power Delivery), and Apple 20W charging. Hence, it can be used to charge Xiaomi group smartphones, the latest iPhones, and other USB PD compatible devices. Additionally, as mentioned in the beginning, ZMI claims that this charger can be also used to fuel the upcoming iPhone 13 series.

It is worth noting that only the USB Type-C port maxes out at 33W, while the USB Type-A port is limited to 27W. Both the ports can be used at the same time and during those sessions, the power adapter is capped at 22.5W.

Lastly, like any other ZMI charger, there’s also a Xiaomi variant of the ZMI 33W Charger 1A1C in white color. But interestingly, that product is sold in Taiwan instead of China.

The ZMI 33W Charger 1A1C is priced at ¥79 ($12) in China. But for a limited time, it will be available at ¥69 ($11). The charger is scheduled to go on sale from September 1.

As of now, it’s not known whether this product will make its way to more markets other than China and Taiwan.

Realme GT Neo2 Renders and key Specifications revealed

Earlier this year, Realme launched the GT Neo 5G in China. Now according to a report, the company is preparing to launch its successor, the Realme GT Neo2, in India. 

The publication Digit collaboration with tipster OnLeaks released renders and key specifications of the upcoming GT Neo2. The renders and specifications are said to be based on the pre-production unit. These renders give us a 360-degree look at the smartphone.

The Realme GT Neo2 is said to be a premium succeeding the original GT Neo under the GT series. The report mentions that the smartphone would be quite slim and lightweight; however, there’s no word on the exact dimensions yet. 

On the front, it gets a large display with minimal bezels and a punch-hole cutout for the front-facing camera. Meanwhile, the back sports the camera module housing three cameras along with a LED flash. The speaker grille and USB Type C port can be seen on the bottom. The left side houses volume control buttons, while the power button is on the right edge.

Realme GT Neo2 Rumoured Specifications

According to the report, the Realme GT Neo2 could come with a 6.62-inch FHD+ display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The smartphone would also feature an in-display fingerprint sensor with the punch-hole cutout housing a 16MP camera for selfies.

The GT Neo successor is likely to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 870 SoC. It is expected to come in one storage variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The report suggests that the smartphone would be running RealmeUI 2.0 on top of Android 11. The GT Neo2 is likely to come with a 5000mAh battery supporting fast charging out of the box.

The GT Neo2 is rumoured to feature a rear triple camera setup led by a 64MP main camera. The primary sensor would be joined by an 8MP ultra-wide and a 2MP macro camera. As per the report, these could be the same sensors found on the Realme GT.

MIUI 12.5 update is now available for POCO X3 in India

The POCO X3 was one of the best smartphones launched in India in 2020. The handset debuted with MIUI 12 based on Android 10. But unfortunately, it got the Android 11 update only a few weeks back in the country. Now, it has also started receiving the MIUI 12.5 update.

POCO released the POCO X3 in India as an alternative to the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max in the region. A higher variant of this device called POCO X3 Pro followed later. 

The latter phone debuted with MIUI 12 based on Android 11. Hence, it got the update to MIUI 12.5 earlier. On the other hand, the former is getting the new MIUI update only now as it was treated with Android 11 at around the same time.

Having said that, the MIUI 12.5 update for the POCO X3 in India arrives with build number V12.5.2.0.RJGINXM. Apart from bringing new features, the new software update also bumps up the security patch level to July 2021.

Like any other OTA system update, this one is also being rolled out in batches. Hence, some users might receive it earlier, while others may have to wait for some time.

The POCO X3 has so far only got access to a single Android update. It is yet to get any major MIUI update. Hence, the phone will likely get more than MIUI 13 and Android 12 in the future.

Realme confirms it will launch the World’s first Dimensity 810-powered phone soon

Taiwanese fabless semiconductor company MediaTek announced the Dimensity 810 chipset alongside the 6nm Dimensity 920 on August 11. At that time, there were speculations that Realme will be the first smartphone maker to launch a Dimenity 810-powered phone after Madhav Sheth sought the opinion of fans if they would want the company to be the first to bring MediaTek Dimensity 810 Processor in the world.

Realme India has now confirmed today that it will launch a Diemsity 810-powered smartphone soon, the first in the world. The teaser was silent on the exact launch date and the name of the expected smartphone. However, there are speculations that the smartphone will be the Realme 8s. It is expected to feature a 6.5-inch display with a 90Hz refresh rate alongside a 64MP primary camera and a 5,000 mAh battery with 33W fast charging.

The Dimensity 810 chip is a 6nm chip that sits below the 7nm Dimensity 820. It features 8 cores made up of four Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.4GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0GHz. MediaTek claims that it brings a 20% increase in performance compared to the previous generation. The GPU is the Mali-G57 MC2.

The chipset supports 120Hz FHD+ displays, LPDDR4x RAM, UFS 2.2 (2-lane) storage, and up to 64MP cameras. The chipset also has high-end AI-camera features such as AI-Bokeh and AI-Color in collaboration with Arcsoft.

Apart from Realme, OPPO is also expected to launch a Dimensity 810-powered phone soon as per a recent leak.

The OPPO A series is the company’s most affordable smartphone lineup. These devices don’t offer value-for-money features like the similarly priced products from Xiaomi group as well as realme. However, still they are quite popular. According to findings, the next phones in the lineup will be OPPO A16K and OPPO A55.

The upcoming OPPO A16K and OPPO A55 have been certified by three different agencies, namely BIS, NBTC, and EEC. Their certifications suggest that they could be launched in India, Southeast Asia, and India.

Going by the brandings, the OPPO A16K with model number CPH2349 should be the cheaper of the two. On the other hand, the OPPO A55 sporting model number CPH2325 is expected to be the 4G variant of the OPPO A55 5G from earlier this year.

The certifications don’t reveal anything about these handsets, except that they are limited to 4G connectivity. Fortunately, these phones are also listed in the Camera FV-5 database. Hence, we know some of their camera specs.

Being budget smartphones, the forthcoming OPPO A series devices don’t house impressive cameras. The OPPO A16K and the OPPO A55 may come with 2MP and 4MP front-facing cameras respectively. Lastly, the latter handset might feature a 13MP primary sensor.

Apart from the above-mentioned specifics, we know nothing about these soon-to-be-launched OPPO A series smartphones. But we expect to learn more about them before their official announcement in the coming days.

Google and Apple are facing scrutiny in South Korea over their in app payment rules. Both companies were criticized by the government in South Korea, which is considering a ban on their payment rules that could also potentially shake up their dominance in the industry.

AppleAccording to a TechCrunch report, the Cupertino based and search engine giant are facing trouble in South Korea due to their established rules for how third party apps in their app stores charge for services. In the country, parliamentary committee passed a bill earlier this month to prevent both firms from charging software developer’s commissions on in app purchases. As of right now, this bill is the first of its kind in the world.

Furthermore, the final vote for this planned ban on Google and Apple payment rules by all members of the National Assembly, which was expected to be held in a plenary session on the same day, has been delayed at the moment. Media reports stated that the plenary session was postponed to August 30. If the new bill is adopted, South Korea will become the first nation that banned the global tech firms from charging third party developers on in app payments.

The bill has been called the “Anti-Google law” and was approved by the legislation and judiciary committee of the National Assembly to revise the Telecommunication Business Act. In a statement, Apple said that “the proposed Telecommunications Business Act will put users who purchase digital goods from other sources at risk of fraud, undermine their privacy protections, make it difficult to manage their purchases, and features like ‘Ask to Buy’ and Parental Controls will become less effective. We believe user trust in App Store purchases will decrease as a result of this proposal—leading to fewer opportunities for the over 482,000 registered developers in Korea who have earned more than KRW8.55 trillion to date with Apple.”

Itel smartphone teaser leak reveals large battery, waterdrop display, and more

Itel has already launched a few budget smartphones in India earlier this year. Now, the company is apparently gearing up for the launch of a new smartphone, which would feature a large battery and a waterdrop notch on the display.

According to a 91Mobiles report, industry sources have found a yet to be released teaser of this new handset from the Chinese smartphone maker. This teaser showcases a smartphone with a big battery and its outline, which reveals its waterdrop notch on the front. As per the report, this smartphone will house the biggest battery compared to any other device released by the company so far.

ItelFurthermore, the sources also revealed that apart from the waterdrop notch, the handset will also offer a curved edge design as well. This new model will reportedly be a part of the brand’s Vision series of budget smartphones. Unfortunately, finer details like specifications and pricing of the device is unknown as of right now. Although, the sources did state that the affordable phone will arrive with an 8 megapixel dual rear cameras along with a 5 megapixel front facing shooter.

At the moment, the chipset of this device is currently unknown, but for memory, it will apparently house 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Similarly, other specifications include a fingerprint sensor and face unlock along with support for Android 11 OS out of the box. TV prices are going up since the beginning of 2021. This is due to the prolonged global shortage of LCD panels. This trend is now said to change in H2 2021. It will be due to the rising competition among the TV OEMs.

The price of LCD panels has been increasing for more than a year. As a result, televisions got expensive starting in early 2021. Thankfully, we can finally expect the price to go down as per a report by Omdia.

According to the research firm, the price of LCD TV panels has started declining from Q3 2021. This trend is forecasted to continue in the second half of 2021.

The dip in panel price will be driven by the competition among the television manufacturers, the widening gap in profitability between Chinese and South Korean television manufacturers, and strong bargaining power. Since the supply chain has now become hard to predict, OEMs need competitive strategies to make use of the situation.

If all goes well, companies will stop hiking the price of their TVs. As of now, all we can do is hope for the best. The results will probably start appearing in the last quarter of 2021.

Huawei patents futuristic Mate series phone with a rollable display

Huawei has just patent another smartphone that features a rollable display. We had previously reported on a possible future Mate phone with an Arc display and what appeared to be a Mate X Rollable a couple of weeks ago. Now, a new patent reveals another futuristic Mate model with a rollable display and a triple camera setup.

HuaweiAccording to a LetsGoDigital report, the Chinese tech giant has patent a new device that sports a wrap around display that cover the front side and most of the rear panel as well. But its most highlighting aspect is that this display can be pulled out from one side on the front, which extends the display to a small tablet size. When extended, the display is extended from the right side of the handset, while the display on the rear rolls towards the front.

Notably, Ts Designer even offers us a 3D concept render of this device and its rollable display in action on his YouTube channel. Looking at this video, we can observe the device in three modes. One is where the device resembles the Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha in its compact form, while the other two is when its screen is rolled out. In one of the positions, the screen is enlarged by 35 percent or only extended to half of its total capacity, while the other has it completely rolled out, reaching a size 70 percent larger than its compact position.

HuaweiIn other words, a 6.5 inch display can reach a size of up to 11 inch to achieve a tablet format. This is basically the size offered by modern day foldable smartphones. Furthermore, it is also quite a practical design and could very well a Mate series of phone that launches sometime in the future. The lack of a hinge and folding mechanism could also ensure no creases being formed on the surface of the display as well. The front side may even house an in display camera technology, while the rear offers a triple camera setup. Keep in mind that this is still a patent and it is unknown if the company is actually working on such a product.

Honor officially opens its new Global Headquarters in Shenzhen, China

Honor has just officially announced that it has opened its global headquarters in Shenzhen, China. The company shared the news earlier today (30th August 2021) as various centers for R&D also move in to the new location.

HonorThe brand made the announcement on its official Weibo account, a Chinese microblogging website, which also shared images of the new global headquarters. Furthermore, the Chinese smartphone maker also stated that the new site will house high quality hardware facilities, along with sophisticated laboratory equipment and a  diverse office atmosphere that would help the company and its team grow. As of right now, the research and developments centers from regions like Beijing, Xi’an, Nanjing, and others have moved to the new location as well.

HonorThe company added that the brand new atmosphere will also enable Honor to offer the ultimate product experience to its customers through technological innovation. For those unaware, the headquarters is located in the Futian District in Shenzhen and has a total size of 350,000 square meters and a total area of 39,000 square meters. Notably, it is also just 12 kilometers away from the headquarters of Huawei, its former parent company.

Honor Back in November 2020, the company had sold Honor to ensure its survival and since then the brand has operated independently from Huawei. Now, the opening of a new global headquarters marks an important step towards its efforts to grow further in its home country and even the overseas market as well.

Hence, OEMs offer software solutions to slow the degradation. Samsung only used to offer such a feature on its tablets. With the launch of the Galaxy Z Flip3 and the Galaxy Z Fold3, this feature has now made its way to its smartphones as well.

The Device Care application on the Samsung Galaxy products is responsible for battery, storage, memory, security, and mobile data usage-related settings. This app is equivalent to the MIUI Security application on the Xiaomi group devices.

Under the Battery section, the app has a feature called Protect Battery on the Galaxy Tab series of tablets. Turning this on will limit the charging to 85%. It can help in extending the battery life over the years.

As per SamMobile, this ‘Protect Battery’ feature is now also available on the new Galaxy Z Flip3 and the Galaxy Z Fold3. They are the first smartphones from Samsung to come with this feature.

At present, it is not known whether this feature will be made available for other Galaxy smartphones. Because it did not get added on the Galaxy S21 series with the latest so-called One UI 3.1.1 update. Hopefully, Samsung brings ‘Protect Battery’ to its phones as most other OEMs offer a similar feature on their handsets.

Xiaomi applies for Dinosaur graphic trademark, could be the Redmi K50 mascot

Xiaomi has recently applied for a new graphic trademark for what appears to be a Dinosaur. This trademark could be the new mascot for the upcoming Redmi K50 series of smartphones.

XiaomiFor those unaware, the company had previously unveiled the Redmi K20 series, which had a mascot dubbed the “Big Devil” dinosaur. Now, it appears that the company might be bringing back the dinosaur mascot again for the upcoming K50 lineup as well. According to a MyDrivers report, the Chinese tech giant has just applied for a new graphic trademark, which is for a small dinosaur. The trademark has an international classification and is expected to be used for smartphones and related accessories as well, like smartphones cases and more.

Notably, the new little dinosaur logo that the company has trademarked is different from the two mascots that it has used for the Redmi K series of smartphones in the past. While the K20 and K30 lineup arrived with a dinosaur and dragon mascot respectively, the K40 series did not follow this tradition. But it might be revived for the K50’s launch and could even serve as the exclusive logo for the new lineup.

Realme hikes prices of multiple smartphone models in India

Starting from today (30th August 2021), Realme has officially raised the prices for a dozen smartphone models in India. The price hike arrives as other brands also raise their offerings’ price tags in the region due to component shortages.

In the Twitter thread, he shared the new prices of a number of smartphones along with the total rise in cost as well. The list of smartphones includes multiple C series of smartphones along with the Realme 8 lineup. Taking a look at the C series pricing first:

  • C11 – 2021 model with 2+32GB now costs ₹7,299 ($100), price hike of ₹300
  • C11 – 2021 model with 4+64GB now costs ₹8,799 ($120), price hike of ₹300
  • C21 – 3+32GB now costs ₹8,999 ($123), price hike of ₹500
  • C21 – 4+64GB now costs ₹9,999 ($136), price hike of ₹500
  • C25s – G85 4+64GB now costs ₹10,999 ($150), price hike of ₹500
  • C25s – G85 4+128GB now costs ₹11999 ($164), price hike of ₹500

Arriving at the Realme 8 lineup, the 4G variant with 6+128GB is now priced at ₹16,999 ($232), marking increase of ₹1,000. This hike in price is consistent with the entire lineup as the 4G variant with 8+128GB also now costs ₹17,999 ($245). Its 5G variant with 4+64GB now goes for ₹15,499 ($211) . Similarly, the 5G variant with 4+128GB and 8+128GB models now cost ₹16,499 ($225) and ₹18,499 ($252) respectively as well.

RealmeNotably, this isn’t the first time the brand hiked the pricing in India. For those unaware, the rise of prices arrives due to a shortage of components or rise in costs of certain parts. The company has claimed that the response for the device is overwhelming, especially for its antibacterial silver ion, dual HiFi speaker function which attracted more eyeballs. Ulefone Armor 12 5G: Specification

You might have got it by now, the Ulefone Armor 12 5G is the world’s first antibacterial dual 5G rugged phone. It is powered by Dimensity 700 octa-core chipset, paired with 8GB RAM + 128GB ROM storage, and supports a much advanced Dual 5G Hyperfast network. Keeping the lights on of the device is a 5180mAh battery that supports 15W wireless charging.

Coming to other features, the device boasts a large 6.52-inch waterdrop screen. At its rear features a brilliant quad-camera setup led by a pixel-intense 48MP sensor. It runs on the latest stable Android 11 Operating System which we can expect to get at least one major upgrade and jump to the upcoming Android 12. Alleged realme Note series might soon take on the Redmi Note series

Xiaomi is popular for its Redmi Note series of budget smartphones worldwide. These devices offer a good set of features at an affordable price. The realme number series phones have been their prime competitor for the past few years. Looks like this may change as realme might soon debut the realme Note series.

The sister brand of OPPO and OnePlus is gearing up to launch its next batch of budget smartphones with realme 9 and realme narzo 50 brandings. As per multiple reports, there will be more models in the lineup than ever before. Looks like the company is mimicking Xiaomi’s approach.

In addition to these handsets, the brand may also introduce the realme Note 9 series consisting of realme Note 9 and realme Note 9 Prime. These two devices are listed in the import database. Apart from their names, we know nothing about these phones. It’s not sure if these products are even real.

However, it is worth noting that a couple of days back, four realme 9 series handsets were also spotted in the same database, namely realme 9, realme 9 Pro, realme 9 Prime, and realme 9A. Hence, the realme Note series could probably exist.

Also, realme has confirmed to add two more models to the already existing realme 8 series. One of them is the recently leaked realme 8i and the other one is realme 8s. The brand will be soon launching the realme narzo 50A and realme narzo 50i too.

All the brandings of the upcoming realme budget smartphones are identical to that of products from Xiaomi. This clearly suggests that the fastest growing smartphone brand wants to compete even more fiercely with its archnemesis.

Earlier today (30th August 2021), Nubia shared a new teaser for its upcoming Red Magic 6S Pro gaming smartphone. In the new teaser, the company showcases the device’s advanced heat dissipation system that will help keep thermals in checkNubiaThe Chinese smartphone maker shared the teaser on its official Weibo account, a Chinese microblogging website. In the social media post, the brand shared two image posters that highlighted two key components of its thermal management system. The first was aerospace level heat dissipation black technology, which is basically a unique aviation grade aluminum that is used in a surface of up to 18,000 square millimeters inside the handset that helps reduce the CPU’s core temperature by 16 degrees Celsius and even reduce the temperature of the smartphone’s body as well.

NubiaFurthermore, the second major component of the thermal management system includes its built in turbo cooling fan. This fan spins with a speed of up to 20,000 RPM. Although, since it is powered by a brushless motor, the company assures that the maximum noise levels from this fan would only be 28 decibels. Previously, Nubia had also revealed that its latest smartphone will feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ SoC along with 165Hz refresh rate.
