The first sale of the flagship device was marked by a strong showing of interest in the model with over 400 million yuan accrued from the sales of around 30000 units within one minute after the sales opened.
The Mi Mix Fold is Xiaomi’s first foldable smartphone and is equipped with a Snapdragon 888 processor. The device also utilizes an in-folding design with the outward display being a 6.52-inch flexible AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2520×840 pixels, 700nits brightness, Dolby Vision support, and 90Hz refresh rate.
The inward display is an 8.01-inch with a resolution of 2480×1860 pixels. The display also supports HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and has a pixel density of 387PPI as well as DCI-P3 wide color gamut, and supports Dolby Vision.

Apple unveiled its own object tracker AirTag with features like UWB(Ultra Wide Band) to take on Samsung’s counterpart. Now, it looks like the Chinese giant OPPO will join the party soon as real-life images of the OPPO’s Smart Tag have been leaked online.
Leaker Digital Chat Station has posted the images of what he claims to be the Engineering Test version of the upcoming OPPO Smart Tag. The device appears in White color and another image shows the device has ‘Ultra Wide Band’ and ‘OPPO‘ written on it.
This further strengthens the reports of OPPO readying an object tracker to spoil the party of Apple and Samsung. What is more surprising is OPPO’s solution seems to be more environment-friendly than the rivals. This is because we see a Type-C port at the bottom.
This isn’t present on either the AirTag or the Samsung Galaxy SmartTag and SmartTag+. Anyway, this suggests that OPPO may include a rechargeable battery inside its Smart Tag. To compare, the rivals promise a 1-year battery life on their respective object trackers but you cannot recharge them.

Although Apple has given the option of replacing the CR2032 battery on the AirTags, a rechargeable one might be a better and convenient option. Then again, we will have to wait and see if OPPO’s object tracker will have any kind of IP rating to protect it from getting damaged.
Talking about the features, UWB etched on the image indicates that the Smart Tag will help users accurately track the location of tags, and help you with directions better than the Bluetooth-only version. That said, we don’t see any provision for the lanyard hole just as we saw on the Galaxy SmartTag.
OPPO is holding a launch event on May 6 in China where it is expected to bring new Smart TV, OPPO K9, OPPO Enco Air, and a new OPPO Band. There are chances that the Smart Tag might debut on the same day but this is our guess so take it with a pinch of salt till we get official info on the same.

Tesla Inc recently faced increased pressures in China earlier this week from regulators and local media after a video of a customer staging a protest at the Shanghai auto show went viral in the region, which forced the company into giving out an apology.
According to a Reutersreport, the pressure that the popular electric vehicle maker is currently faces arrives amid the on going US and China trade tensions that have worsened in recent times. Notably, China accounts for 30 percent of Tesla’s global sales, with the company also producing vehicles through its own factory that is situated in Shanghai. As per the Global Times, “China will continue to open up its market to foreign business, but that does not mean foreign companies will be offered any privilege.”
For those unaware, a disgruntled Tesla customer climbed on top of a car at the auto show in a protest over the method of how the company was handling her complaint over a malfunctioning brake earlier this week. This caused local market regulators to urge the automobile manufacturer to ensure product quality in the country. Global Times further added that “The arrogant and overbearing stance the company exhibited in front of the public is repugnant and unacceptable, which could inflict serious damage on its reputation and customer base in the Chinese market.”
Unfortunately, Tesla has declined to comment on the matter but did state that it would share data on the brake incident with the regulators, after being demanded to declare the information. While the company did offer an apology, it has been criticized for not being sincere, with Xinhua news agency saying that “A big company should have the responsibility of being a big company, no company can do whatever it wants.”

COVID-19 pandemic is yet to dial down in many regions of the world and India seems to be the worst hit by the second wave. Several organizations, volunteers are chipping in to help the govt fight the deadly virus and Xiaomi has joined the bandwagon with a pledge of ₹3 Cr.
In a press note, Manu Kumar Jain of Global VP of Xiaomi and MD Xiaomi India, says that Xiaomi is pledging to donate over INR 3 Crore to procure 1000+ oxygen concentrators. If you aren’t aware, lack of enough Oxygen concentrators is the major concern in India amidst the rising COVID-19 cases.
Manu also says that the Oxygen concentrators will be donated to the hospitals and state governments wherever needed the most. To put things into perspective, states like Maharashtra have been the worst affected by the second wave of COVID-19 and the list also has others like Karnataka, Kerala, Delhi, Assam, and more.
This isn’t the first time Xiaomi is donating something to tackle the pandemic. Last year, around the same time, the company pledged about 15 Crore INR to help tackle the outbreak in India.
Before that, it also donated lakhs of N95 masks to hospitals and state governments across the country.
Smartphone brands have never shied away from contributing to the ongoing pandemic and the donations made by companies’ Indian Arm is a testament to that. Apart from Xiaomi, OnePlus and OPPO donated about ₹1 Cr. each in 2020, and Samsung had donated ₹20 Crores to PM Cares Fund and states of Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu last year.
Coming back, apart from the ₹3 Cr. donation, Manu says that Xiaomi will also partner with GiveIndia to raise ₹1 Crore to support frontline COVID warriors across the country. By this, he means the frontline workers like Doctors, Nurses, Health care professionals, and others working hard to contain the spread of the virus.
The donation page will be live on Xiaomi’s website and users, fans, partners, and people who are interested can donate to this initiative as well.

Anyway, the device should continue to receive security patches and bug fixes for some time after this update reaches every user.
Apple is apparently planning on expanding its advertising business just prior to rolling out its new privacy rules for iPhones that will hurt the ads offered by its competitors, like Facebook, and other social media platforms.
According to a FinancialTimesreport, the Cupertino based giant will be opening up new advertising slots by the end of this month. The news arrives from two sources close to the matter who believe that the company will be adding a second advertising slow in the “suggested” apps section in its App Store search page. This new slot will arrive later this month and will also allow advertisers to promote their apps across the the network, rather than in certain specific searches.
Unfortunately, Apple has declined to comment on this matter. But this news highlights the fact that the iPhone maker is seeking to bolster its own advertising business while simultaneously crippling the 350 billion US Dollar worth digital ads industry that is led by tech giants like Facebook and Google. For those unaware, the upcoming iOS 14.5 will ban applications and advertisers from collecting data from iPhone users without their explicit consent. Thus, most users are expected to decline to being tracked, which could have a severe impact on the mobile advertising industry.
While Apple claims that this change will improve user privacy for its customers, many believe that this is just an attempt to boost its own advertising business. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg added that “Apple may say they’re doing this to help people, but the moves clearly track with their competitive interests.” So stay tuned for more updates, as we will be covering any interesting new developments regarding this matter.

Foxconn, a known Apple supplier, is significantly scaling down its plans for the Wisconsin factory that it had announced with the former US President, Donald Trump, who called the site as the “eighth wonder of the world.”
For those unaware, the previous President had showcased the plans of Foxconn to build a factory in Wisconsin, which would’ve been a major win for his economic goals. But a year and a half later, this deal’s future seems a lot more uncertain. Now, the supplier has announced that it will be scaling down the plan significantly earlier this week. The Taiwanese based manufacturing giant is also hoping that it would return blue collar jobs back to the hard hit state as well, as per a TechCrunchreport.
The report added that the 10 billion US Dollars investment plan is now being scaled down to just 672 million US Dollars. In the new plans, Foxconn will also be cutting down employee count from 13,000 to just 1,454. Furthermore, Tony Evers, Wisconsin Governor, said in a press release issues earlier this week, that the reduction would be a tax saving deal as well.
The Governor further added that “When I ran to be governor, I made a promise to work with Foxconn to cut a better deal for our state—the last deal didn’t work for Wisconsin, and that doesn’t work for me. Today I’m delivering on that promise with an agreement that treats Foxconn like any other business and will save taxpayers $2.77 billion, protect the hundreds of millions of dollars in infrastructure investments the state and local communities have already made, and ensure there’s accountability for creating the jobs promised.”
Evers had also played a crucial role in negotiating the deal under Trump. The package also included incentives worth about 4 billion US Dollars in incentives for Foxconn. At the moment, the state has already spend upwards of 200 million US Dollars over infrastructure, training, and more, ahead of the planned factory.
Apple has started using OLED display panels for the entire smartphone lineup with the iPhone 12 series and is expected to continue doing so with the upcoming iPhone 13 series. A report from Omdia claims that around 169 million units of iPhone OLED panels will be shipped this year.
In comparison, the expected shipments are 47.6 percent higher than the 114.5 million units shipped last year. It is said that LG Display will be shipping more units of OLED panels this year to Apple.
The Omdia report estimates that Samsung Display will be shipping 110 million units of OLED panels for iPhone while LG Display will be shipping 50 million units and BOE will be shipping 9 million units.
Last year, Samsung Display had shipped 89.6 million units while LG Display had shipped 25 million units. When compared year-on-year, shipments from these companies increased 22.8 percent and 100 percent respectively.
In the year 2020, the market share of Samsung Display for iPhone OLED panels was 78.3 percent, which will drop to 65.1 percent this year, if the new estimates from Omdia turn out to be true. On the other hand, the share of LG Display will increase from 21.8 percent to 29.6 percent while China-based BOE‘s share will be 5.3 percent.
Based on the estimates, Apple will be the largest procure of smartphone OLED panels this year, followed by Samsung Electronics and Xiaomi.
As per the report, 584.5 million units of OLED panels are expected to get shipped this year, representing an increase of 28 percent compared to 2020. Out of them, around 335.5 million units will account for Flexible OLED panels while rigid OLED panels will make up to 249 million units.
Samsung is working on a Galaxy A22 5G and we have seen reports of this as early as last year. Today, Steve Hemmerstoffer(@Onleaks) has leaked high-quality 5K CAD-based renders of the device on Voice.
Galaxy A22 5G render, Credit: Steve Hemmerstoffer / Voice
In a series of images, Steve has shared the possible design of the upcoming Galaxy A22 5G smartphone. Right off the bat, it is totally different from the concept renders we saw earlier as the device has a squircle camera layout on the back with a Triple-cameras and contradicts the earlier rumors.
There are three lenses and an LED flash inside the layout but early reports said that it would boast four sensors with a 48MP main lens, 8MP ultrawide, and two 2MP sensors. We will have to wait for further official info to know more about this.
At the front, the display has noticeable bezels on the bottom and a waterdrop notch at the top. That’s reasonable considering the budget at which it is supposedly going to retail on markets. As per the report, the device will feature a 6.5-inch display and the selfie camera tucked inside the notch could be a 13MP sensor.

Looks like this strategy will continue as yet another RedMAgic-branded phone without gaming aesthetics appears on TENAA.

Earlier this week, Chanel lost its trademark fight against Huawei Technologies in a top European court. The news arrives after the court stated that both firms logos do not share any similarity to each other.
According to an SCMPreport, the French luxury brand lost its trademark battle against the Chinese tech giant regarding the logo design. Notably, this also highlights the sensitive nature of luxury brands guarding their logos to preserve the luxury symbols that showcases their “style and exclusivity” to millions of people across the globe. The claim from Chanel first arrived back in 2017, when Huawei sought approval from the EU Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) to register its computer hardware trademark which featured two vertical interlocking semicircles.
This branding led to Chanel alleging that this design is similar to its registered French logo of two horizontal interlocking semicircles that are used on the brand’s cosmetics, perfumes, clothing, and other such products. In 2019, the trademark office had dismissed the company’s claims saying that there was no similarity and there would be no confusion between both brands in the eyes of the consumers.
However, Chanel then took the challenge to the Luxembourg based General Court. Here, the claim was dismissed again in a ruling earlier this week. As per the tribunal of judges,”The figurative marks at issue are not similar. The marks must be compared as applied for and registered, without altering their orientation.” The tribunal added that there were visual differences between both logos “In particular, Chanel’s marks have more rounded curves, thicker lines and a horizontal orientation, whereas the orientation of the Huawei mark is vertical. Consequently, the General Court concludes that the marks are different.”
