Concept renders of the Galaxy Note 21 FE that may be released this year appear online

It’s ten years already when Samsung first introduced the Galaxy Note series. But there have been rumors that the Note lineup will be discontinued. That is yet to be confirmed and Samsung even issued a rebuttal in December 2020 where it claimed that preparations are in top gear for a Galaxy Note series release for this year and is still committed to the Galaxy Note series. Samsung Galaxy Note 21 FE

In this light, Letsgodigital is projecting that the Galaxy Note 20 series will get a successor around August this year and may include a Fan Edition. Samsung did release a Galaxy S20 FE (Fan Edition) model in September last year. So, it is not out of place for the company to equally release a Note 21 FE.

These are mere speculations but an Italian graphic designer Giuseppe Spinelli, aka Snoreyn, has given us an insight into how the Galaxy Note 21 FE will look like. The designer released a set of renders of the Galaxy Note 21 FE in Phantom White colour.

Putting the concept design in perspective, the retail package has a reduced size than last year’s. That is because the device may not ship with a charger and earphones. The Galaxy S21 series has already kickstarted what may be a trend going forward.

The designer envisions the Galaxy Note 21 FE to come with a full-screen design with an under-display fingerprint sensor. The rear aspect will pack a triple camera setup stacked vertically at the top left corner of the rear panel. Although the front panel looks like a flat-screen, the rear panel seems to have a curved edge design.

It would be nice to see Samsung release the device bearing this cool design style.

Microsoft Surface Duo to get Android 11 update by Summer 2021: Report

Microsoft’s Android Experiment with Microsoft Surface Duo meant the device launched with Android 10 out of the box. Now, a report by Dr. Windows says that the device will finally get Android 11 this year.

Microsoft Surface Duo Featured

As per the report, Microsoft will roll out the Android 11 update by this Summer. It claims to have got the info from a briefing with Microsoft USA members of the Surface Duo Product Group. Although there isn’t an exact date available, you can expect it anytime after the H2 2021 starts.

This is quite a big delay for the update as Android 12‘s Developer Preview 3 could come out by considering Google’s previous track record. Google launched the Android 11 back in September 2020 and Microsoft made the Surface Duo available for sale around the same time.

While people were suspicious that Microsoft might give up on the Android device, this report says otherwise. It seems Microsoft and Google have come to terms with more than before. Specifically, the changes regarding Dual-Display will reportedly make its way into the Android’s original code.

Let’s just hope that the update will be earlier and sometime in June or July 2021. Microsoft had recently cut the price of the Surface Duo in the US by $400. The device is available for $999 instead of $1,399 for the base model(128GB) and $1,099 instead of $1,499 for the 256GB version.

The company is also said to bring the Dual-Display device to more markets like Canada, Germany, UK, and France. According to The Verge, the Surface Duo will launch in the mentioned regions on February 18. Users can get it for around €1,549 in Germany and £1,349 in the UK.

OnePlus Nord N100 and N10 5G join the Android Enterprise Recommended initiative

Last year, the OnePlus 8  became the brand’s first smartphone to get certified for the Android Enterprise Recommended Program. This handset was soon followed by the expensive OnePlus 8 Pro and mid-range OnePlus Nord to join the initiative. Now, months later, OnePlus’ most affordable handsets ever are also part of this program.

OnePlus Nord N100 N10 5G Featured
OnePlus Nord N100 and OnePlus Nord N10 5G

After the OnePlus 8T launch, Chinese phone maker OnePlus announced its first-ever budget smartphones in the form of OnePlus Nord N100 and OnePlus Nord N10 5G respectively. As their name suggests, the former is limited to 4G but the latter comes with 5G connectivity.

Being budget devices, they don’t pack heavy specs to boast about. In fact, these smartphones pale in comparison with handsets from other Chinese OEMs. Worst of all, OnePlus has only promised a single Android update and two years of security patches.

For those unaware, the duo debuted with OxygenOS 10.5 based on Android 10 when Android 11 was already official. Hence, they will be only receiving a single major update to Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 sometime later this year after the OnePlus 7 series, OnePlus 7T series, and OnePlus Nord.

Despite all of these shortcomings, the OnePlus Nord N100 and OnePlus Nord N10 5G have been certified for the Android Enterprise Recommended (AER) program. Unlike the consumer models, the devices part of this initiative will be receiving security patches up until January 2023, which happens to be a few more months than the regular variant of these phones.

Anyway, both the consumer and enterprise versions will be getting a single major system update to OxygenOS 11 based on Android 11.

realme Narzo 30 Series reportedly launching in India on February 24

Earlier today, a report said that Narzo 30 series will launch in India on the last week of February. While the brand has just begun to tease it slowly, a new leak by a Twitter user Gadgetsdata(Debayan Roy) reveals the supposed launch date of the devices.

realme RMX3161 Narzo 30 Pro
RMX3161 TENAA- could be realme Narzo 30 Pro

According to the user, the realme Narzo 30 series will launch on February 24 in India. Earlier today, Madhav Sheth, CEO, realme India & Europe, tweeted the poll results of the realme Narzo 30 series box. However, himself or the company hasn’t explicitly confirmed a date yet.

Speaking of which, the series is expected to house three devices- Narzo 30, Narzo 30A, and Narzo 30 Pro. Out of this, the Narzo 30 Pro could be the Cheapest 5G smartphone in India.

The device, whose renders and specs appeared on TENAA reportedly with model number RMX3161, features a 6.5-inch punch-hole display, SA/NSA 5G support, quad-camera setup, 4,880mAh battery, and run Android 11.

realme hasn’t brought the Android 11 to its devices out of the box yet. If you recall, even the recently launched realme X7 series come with Android 10 and realme UI on top. So let’s wait and see if the company brings the latest OS to the devices at launch.

Either way, the Narzo 30 Pro, if launched as teased by Madhav Sheth, should cost less than the realme X7(₹19,999) in the country. The info regarding the other two devices is a bit bleak at the moment. The Narzo 30 could feature a Helio G95 chipset up from the Helio G85 on the predecessor.

The Narzo 30A moniker has been spotted on India’s BIS, Thailand’s NTBC certifications and it looks like both the 30 and 30A are likely a 4G budget offerings contradictory to the Narzo 30 Pro. Let’s wait for more leaks in the run-up to the launch.

Over 6.82 million units of Xiaomi Mi Earphones Basic sold within 2.5 years

The Xiaomi Mi Earphones Basic is the Chinese smartphone maker’s most affordable Mi-branded audio product sold in India. The company debuted this product in March 2018. Now, almost three years later, the firm announces a milestone achieved by these pair of earphones.

Xiaomi Mi Earphones Basic Over 6.82 Million Units Sold In 2.5 Years

Xiaomi India took to social media to announce that it has managed to sell over 6.82 million units of Mi Earphones Basic within 2.5 years. The data for this achievement comes from Xiaomi Data Center.

For those unaware, these earphones only cost ₹399. Hence, it makes sense for the company to sell these many units despite the competition. In fact, the biggest competitor right now is the firm’s own Redmi Earphones that was released in September 2020 with Hi-Res Audio and the exact same price tag.

Anyway, whenever Xiaomi announces a milestone, it means that the company will be soon introducing a new product to replace the older model. We think that’s the case for Mi Earphones Basic as well.

Last week, Xiaomi revealed that it will be launching two new Mi-branded audio products in India on February 22. We expected them to be Mi Portable Bluetooth Speaker (16W) and Mi Neckband Bluetooth Earphones Pro.

But now, we feel that the second product will be a pair of entry-level wired earphones to replace the Mi Earphones Basic. Anyway, the announcement will be happening only next week and hence, we can expect to learn more about them ahead of their release.

Madhav Sheth teases new TWS Earbuds launch, could be the realme Buds Air 2

Before the year 2021 even began, realme vowed to launch more than 100 AIoT products this year. Amidst this, a buzz on its upcoming TWS earphones is getting bigger. Now, Madhav Sheth, CEO, realme India & Europe has teased a new Wireless Earbuds and it could be the Buds Air 2 courtesy of realme Link App listing.

As per a GSMArena report, realme Buds Air 2 has popped up on the realme Link App. As you can see in the screenshot below, the TWS earbuds appear on the ‘Add Device’ section under ‘Audio’. If you recall, the Buds Air 2 has already been spotted on Malaysia’s SIRIM certification.

Accordingly, the model number of the wireless earbud is said to be RMX2003. Although the prior certification didn’t reveal anything, this realme Link App shows an image of the Buds Air 2 along with the listing. You might think the image could be a placeholder but Madhav Sheth has already teased a similar product on a Twitter post.

In the post, you can see the Voice record on the TWS announcing the toggling of ANC(Active Noise Cancellation) and Transparency Modes(Ambient Noise). If you recall, realme launched the Buds Air in December 2019, its first Wireless Earbuds. However, it didn’t’ have features like ANC owing to the canal design.

That said, the image teased on the Twitter and realme Link App show an Oval-shaped Black Charging case with LED indicator and in-ear Earbud design. This also has similarities with the recently launched Buds Air Pro TWS but the Earbuds’ design is a bit angled and sharp here.

Either way, the upcoming TWS earbuds seem to be a worthy upgrade over the predecessor. Let’s wait for more teasers in the coming days as launch doesn’t seem far away now.

Intel highlights Apple M1 chips’ shortcomings in new Anti-Mac ad

Back in November 2020, Apple launched its latest MacBook series of laptops, which featured its new proprietary M1 chipsets. This marked a departure from processors made by Intel, which has recently also released an advertising campaign that highlights all the shortcoming of the new M1 chip.

According to a MacRumors report, the ad from the chip maker also signifies that it is threatened by the move from the Cupertino based giant. In the recent ad shared on Twitter, Intel shared a link to a YouTube video that called out all the shortcomings of the new Apple chip. The company also stated that “Only a PC can power scientists and gamers alike” and that “if you can power a rocket launch and launch Rocket League (a popular online multiplayer game), you’re not on a Mac. Go PC.”

Furthermore, the chip making giant also pointed out the lack of a touchscreen on the Apple Mac laptops, saying that “Only a PC offers tablet mode, touch screen and stylus capabilities in a single device.” The video linked by the company is to a video made by Jon Rettinger, which compares the MacBooks powered by Intel chips and the new M1 chipsets. Furthermore, Intel had recently shared benchmarks as well, to prove that its chips are better than the Apple M1 processor.

Intel

Although, these benchmarks were carefully crafted by the company and ran software that did not favor the M1 chip. The company’s anti-Mac ad is likely just one of many to come as well in the future as Apple is slowly moving away from Intel chips and plans to completely supply its PCs with its self developed chips within the next two years. Soon, Apple Silicon chips will power the MacBook Pro, and even the next refreshed iMacs as well.

Google, Qualcomm, and Microsoft are against Nvidia’s acquisition of ARM

Last year, Nvidia had announced that it would be acquiring ARM Holdings in a deal worth 40 billion US Dollars. However, tech giants like Google, Qualcomm, and Microsoft are against the deal and have come out in protest of the deal, which is already facing major regulatory hurdles at the moment.

Google

Back in September 2020, the deal had been announced by the known graphics card maker. The deal was between Nvidia and SoftBank Group, which is the current owner of ARM Holdings. Although, the deal is also pending regulatory approval. For those unaware, ARM is the firm behind the popular instructions and core designs, which it licenses to other companies rather than makings its own SoCs. At the moment, over 90 percent of all smartphones in the world utilize the ARM cores.

Notably, even Apple has moved towards the ARM based M1 chipset for its laptops, which use its instruction set but not the ARM cores. In other words, the ARM design is widely used and has heavy applications multiple industries and fields. The opposing companies are afraid that if Nvidia gains control over ARM, it might use it to leverage the licensing deals that the latter holds across the globe. As per the Digit report, Nvidia and ARM aren’t direct competitors, but its supply to its rivals might be against its interest after the acquisition.

Google

Google, and other firms have alleged that this conflict of interest might lead to Nvidia also using its position to impact the business models of other companies. Apart from the opposition from these large corporations, ARM Holding’s China division is also a major hurdle for the acquisition. Allen Wu, Chief Executive of ARM China, is in a stand off with ARM China’s board, which wanted to remove him as head. Although, the Wu holds about 17 percent stake in the four investment firms of ARM China. So, the acquisition would have to wait till the issue is resolved as well.

However, Volkswagen CEO doesn’t believe its an immediate threat at the moment.

Volkswagen

According to a MacRumors report, automobile manufacturer’s senior executive stated that he is “not afraid” of the Apple Car. As per CEO Herbert Diess, the Cupertino based giant and its upcoming self driving car will not overtake the 2 trillion US Dollars automobile industry overnight. While Apple has yet to confirm that it is actually working on an automotive, Diess believes that the rumors and reports are still “logical.” The iPhone maker already has expertise in battery technology, software, and design.

Furthermore, the OEM can even effectively utilize its expertise in these areas to create an automobile, as per the Volkswagen CEO. The automobile giant is one of the largest car manufacturer’s in the world an Europe and is based in Germany. It has a significant standing in the industry as well. But, the official is not concerned over the appearance of Apple in the market, and believes that it won’t hamper its market standing.

Last year, realme introduced the narzo series of smartphones to offer great specs at a little price. This move was necessary as the price of the brand’s number series climbed up the ladder. That said, the company been teasing the next-gen devices in the series called narzo 30 for the past few days. These handsets have been now tipped to launch in India in the last week of February with 5G connectivity on one of them.

Although the realme narzo 30 series in the news, there’s not much information available about these smartphones. Exactly a week earlier, the brand asked the public to select the box design for the vanilla realme narzo 30. Today, the company has even revealed the most voted design.

However, nothing is known about the standard narzo 30 so far. We believe it could be the RMX3085, which was recently spotted on Geekbench with MediaTek Helio G95. So this makes it a 4G handset.

Similarly, there’s another 4G device called narzo 30A, which has been certified by BIS and NBTC. Going by its name, we can expect it to be the cheapest model in the series just like its predecessor narzo 20A.

That leaves us with the narzo 30 Pro. This could be the 5G model that MySmartPrice reports exclusively to launch by the end of February. This phone is expected to be RMX3161 that was recently certified by TENAA with 6.5-inch punch-hole display, quad-camera setup, 4,880mAh battery, and Android 11.

Last but not least, since the company’s CEO has already teased to launch a 5G phone cheaper than the realme X7, the upcoming realme narzo 30 Pro may cost lesser than ₹19,999.
