<p>Technology, just as it simplifies our lives, can also introduce new problems. For example, &#8220;motion sickness&#8221;, a nuisance today, was a concern that no one had to deal with 100 years ago. For those unfamiliar, motion sickness is a feeling of nausea, dizziness, and vomiting that can occur when traveling in a car, boat, plane, or other moving vehicles. It can also be experienced during amusement park rides or in virtual reality settings. Now, Huawei has released an anti-motion sickness patent aimed at completely eliminating this issue. Here are the details&#8230;</p>

<h2><strong>Huawei&#8217;s motion sickness prevention system could be a game-changer for VR</strong></h2>

<p>Motion sickness occurs when the brain receives conflicting information from the vestibular, visual, and proprioceptive systems. For example, when someone is riding in a car, their eyes may see the car interior as stationary, but their vestibular system will sense the car&#8217;s movement. This conflict can lead to symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, and vomiting. Fortunately, Huawei has released a patent for a new system that could help to prevent motion sickness.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="600" height="475" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/huawei-anti-motion-sickness-system-patent.png?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-570203" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/huawei-anti-motion-sickness-system-patent.png 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/huawei-anti-motion-sickness-system-patent-300x238.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/huawei-anti-motion-sickness-system-patent-531x420.png 531w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></figure></div>

<p>The system works by generating real-time images of the vehicle&#8217;s movement relative to the road or ground. These images are then displayed on the vehicle&#8217;s infotainment system, allowing passengers to see themselves moving along with the vehicle. This helps to reduce or eliminate the conflict between visual and vestibular signals, which is the main cause of motion sickness.</p>

<p>Huawei&#8217;s motion sickness prevention system would address this conflict by providing passengers with accurate visual information about the vehicle&#8217;s movement. This would allow passengers to &#8220;follow the body with their eyes,&#8221; which could help to prevent or reduce the symptoms of motion sickness.</p>

<p>The system is still in the patent stage, and it is not yet known when it will be available in vehicles. However, the technology has the potential to be a major breakthrough in the fight against motion sickness. Especially considering the increase in popularity of AR/VR technology.</p>

<p>It is already known that <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Apple </a>is working on a brand new product line in the wearable category for a while now. This new <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-ar-vr-headset/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">mixed reality based headset</a> is expected to be officially revealed soon. However, prior to its announcement, a new patent have hinted at some of its functionality.</p>

<p>Based on a patent filed in Europe, the upcoming &#8220;Multi-Device Continuity for use with Extended Reality (XR) Systems.&#8221; In other words, the AR/VR headset will come with support for Continuity features like Handoff or Universal Control that are already available on existing gadgets. For those unaware, Continuity is basically the term the Cupertino based giant uses to imply that its products are supported by multiple platforms and can seamlessly communicate with one another. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="571" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/gsmarena_000-1024x571.jpg?x10805" alt="Apple" class="wp-image-520309" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/gsmarena_000-1024x571.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/gsmarena_000-300x167.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/gsmarena_000-768x428.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/gsmarena_000-696x388.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/gsmarena_000-1068x595.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/gsmarena_000-753x420.jpg 753w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/gsmarena_000.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>So we can expect the new XR headset (Extended Reality) to feature Continuity for seamless connection between your Apple products as long as you&#8217;re signed into the same Apple ID on all of your devices. The connection will be enabled through wireless communication tech like WiFi and Bluetooth. Interestingly, the patent also offered us an example on how such a technology would work. A user can be wearing the headset and go through an email that was received by the iPhone. </p>

<p>Meaning, a simple hand gesture will let you view the email on the larger virtual display. This basically adds to the over functionality of the headset. Continuity is quite a popular feature under Apple with its macOS based PCs and iPhones being capable of communicating with one another. This basically makes the users&#8217; life a lot more convenient and is typically added on most of the brand&#8217;s products.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Apple </a>might finally have a set launch date for its highly anticipated mixed reality headset. The upcoming device also marks the company entering a new category of products. Now, a new report has revealed when we can expect the headset to drop. </p>

<p>According to sources close to the matter, the Cupertino based giant will be officially showcasing its AR/VR based headset later this year, during its WWDC event. This is a major conference from the iPhone maker that is typically held in the middle of the year, so we can expect an announcement sometime in June 2023. As per previous reports, the device in question could be called the Reality Pro.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="631" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/apple-ar-headset-concept-1-1024x631.jpeg?x10805" alt="Apple" class="wp-image-515865" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/apple-ar-headset-concept-1-1024x631.jpeg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/apple-ar-headset-concept-1-300x185.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/apple-ar-headset-concept-1-768x473.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/apple-ar-headset-concept-1-1536x947.jpeg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/apple-ar-headset-concept-1-2048x1262.jpeg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/apple-ar-headset-concept-1-696x429.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/apple-ar-headset-concept-1-1068x658.jpeg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/apple-ar-headset-concept-1-1920x1184.jpeg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/apple-ar-headset-concept-1-681x420.jpeg 681w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/apple-ar-headset-concept-1-356x220.jpeg 356w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>Initial rumors had hinted at an earlier launch, however, the brand faced various challenges in regards to software and hardware. Because of this, it had to postpone the launch. The headset will likely arrive with a hefty price tag that could go as high as 3,000 US Dollars. Although, finer details regarding its specs and features are still unclear. But for this price, we can expect Apple to offer new features and functions that have not been seen in AR or VR based headsets so far.</p>

<p>Based on our older reports, the company could offer dual 4K displays and an array of cameras to help in advanced tracking and controller free input. This device will also be powered by the capable M2 processor that will easily outclass any other chipset for headset devices in terms of raw power. The platform will also run on the new xrOS software as well. So stick around for more updates regarding this matter.</p>

And now, it appears that its rival <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Samsung </a>is also looking to compete in this same segment as well. So here are all the details.</p>

<p>During the Galaxy Unpacked 2023 event, the South Korean tech giant announced that it is working on a new Mixed Reality headset of its own. This upcoming Augmented and Virtual reality headset is being built with the help from its partners, Google and Qualcomm. Samsung also stated that the launch of the device isn&#8217;t too far off and the company is referring to this wearable device as an Extended Reality (XR) headset.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="800" height="450" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-announces-that-it-will-soon-compete-with-Apple-in-another-product-category.webp?x10805" alt="Samsung" class="wp-image-512884" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-announces-that-it-will-soon-compete-with-Apple-in-another-product-category.webp 800w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-announces-that-it-will-soon-compete-with-Apple-in-another-product-category-300x169.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-announces-that-it-will-soon-compete-with-Apple-in-another-product-category-768x432.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-announces-that-it-will-soon-compete-with-Apple-in-another-product-category-696x392.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Samsung-announces-that-it-will-soon-compete-with-Apple-in-another-product-category-747x420.webp 747w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /><figcaption>Galaxy Gear VR headset (2015)</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>For those unaware, virtual reality basically displays a virtual environment to the user to explore and interact with. This can range from fictional and man made places to virtual renditions of popular landmarks. On the other hand, augmented reality offers additional interface on top of a live view from a camera. In other words, it augments your vision of the world as is, rather than creating a new environment altogether. A notable example of this is the &#8220;Live View&#8221; on Google Maps for people navigating while walking.</p>

<p>The displays shows a live feed from the rear camera, which can also have arrows to show the users the way they need to head towards along with other useful information. Furthermore, Samsung revealed that the new XR headset will feature a custom made Qualcomm chipset, while the company is also partnering up with Meta and Microsoft for the XR headset project. The head of the XR headset also stated that the platform and software only needs to be &#8220;somewhat ready for the device to be a success.&#8221; But, it remains to be seen how Apple and Samsung compete in this all new segment.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Apple </a>has long been rumored to be working on its very own <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-ar-vr-headset/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">mixed reality headset</a>. However, it seems like that launch schedule for this new product has been delayed due to various reasons. So let&#8217;s have a look.</p>

<p>The news arrives from known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. He had previously claimed that the mixed reality headset from the Cupertino based giant was seeing various hurdles in development. This led to delays in the announcement of the AR/VR headset. Now, Kuo has doubled down on this prediction, stating that the revealing and the release of the device will be pushed back. Apple reportedly had planned to announce its first ever headset via a dedicated event this January 2023. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="682" height="385" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Screenshot-2022-01-11-124300.png?x10805" alt="Apple" class="wp-image-507208" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Screenshot-2022-01-11-124300.png 682w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Screenshot-2022-01-11-124300-300x169.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 682px) 100vw, 682px" /></figure></div>

<p>However, it appears that the AR/VR headset release has been postponed to Apple&#8217;s Spring event or possibly even as late as the WWDC 2023 event where it typically unveils new software tech. Kuo also added that the mixed reality headset development is behind schedule to due issues with mechanical component drop testing and the availability of software development tools. So the mass shipments might also be delayed from the original Q2 2023 timeline to the end of this same period or to Q3 2023.</p>

<p>The design and finer details regarding the Apple headset is still at large, although previous reports have suggested that it will feature 15 cameras all around. It could also pack a ton of head tracking sensors, along with spatial audio support, sport dual 8K OLED displays, and pack the latest M2 chipset. This is all the information we have regarding this matter, so stick around for more updates.</p>

However, a new report has suggested that the company&#8217;s upcoming wearable product might see a delayed launch in the market.</p>

<p>The news arrives from known analyst <em><a href="https://twitter.com/mingchikuo/status/1599425147072827392?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1599425148977057793%7Ctwgr%5E375d299c586ec0ae295b19d77dfd8b61e2de4c33%7Ctwcon%5Es2_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.macrumors.com%2F2022%2F12%2F04%2Fkuo-apple-headset-2h23-mass-shipments%2F" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Ming-Chi Kuo</a></em> who claimed that the Cupertino based giant&#8217;s AR/VR based headset might be delayed due to unclear &#8220;software related issues.&#8221; Furthermore, these issues will cause the company to launch the new headset sometime in the second half of next year. Although it is still possible that the brand announces the product earlier in the year, while its actual release will begin in late 2023. For those unaware, Apple usually hosts its WWDC event in June, so we can expect the company to reveal this headset along with an SDK for developers for AR/VR apps for this device during this conference.</p>

<p>The analyst had previously stated that the company will unveil its headset during a media event in January 2023. It will then reportedly begin mass shipments in the second quarter of 2023. But Kuo is unsure whether the delay would lead to the January announcement also being pushed back while also stating that an overly lengthy period between a media event and mass shipments can impact sales. In simpler terms, the longer the delay of shipments after announcements, the sales might be affected. The mixed reality headset is expected to be an expensive product, so Kuo projects that the company will ship around 500,000 headsets in 2023.</p>

<p>Apple&#8217;s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/mixed-reality">Mixed Reality</a> headset, which has been in the news for the past few months as the upcoming AR/VR device from the technology giant, may get delayed due to software-related issues, <a href="https://twitter.com/mingchikuo/status/1599425148977057793">reports Ming-Chi Kuo</a>.</p>

<p>According to the report, the long-rumored <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple">Apple</a> AR/VR headset is having unspecified software-related issues, which could delay the mass shipments of the device to the second half of next year, i.e. 2023.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="585" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Apple-AR-VR-Headset-1024x585.png?x10805" alt="Apple AR/VR Headset" class="wp-image-499383" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Apple-AR-VR-Headset-1024x585.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Apple-AR-VR-Headset-300x171.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Apple-AR-VR-Headset-768x439.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Apple-AR-VR-Headset-1536x878.png 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Apple-AR-VR-Headset-2048x1170.png 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Apple-AR-VR-Headset-696x398.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Apple-AR-VR-Headset-1068x610.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Apple-AR-VR-Headset-1920x1097.png 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Apple-AR-VR-Headset-735x420.png 735w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Apple AR/VR Device Concept Design Render</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>Kuo says that the mass shipments for the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/components">components</a> of the device are likely to start somewhere in the first half of 2023, but the shipment of the fully assembled device may not begin until the second half of the year, resulting in a delayed launch even if Apple announces the device earlier in the year.</p>

<p>Earlier, Kuo had claimed that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/ar-vr">AR/VR device</a> or the Mixed Reality headset from Apple could be announced at a January media event, with mass shipments beginning in the second quarter of the year. It is not yet known whether the delay in shipments would result in a pushback for the announcement of the device.</p>

<p>If the device isn&#8217;t announced in early 2023, then the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/wwdc">WWDC</a> 2023, somewhere around the month of June should be a good opportunity for the Cupertino-based tech giant to unveil the new device and open up its Software Development Kit (SDK) for developers to create AR/VR applications of the device.</p>

<p>Ming-Chi Kuo also expects the upcoming product from Apple to be on the expensive side when it comes to pricing. He forecasts that because of the pricing, the company will ship less than 500,000 units in the year 2023. We&#8217;ll have to wait for a few more weeks or months to know the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/features">features</a> and pricing of the device.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="585" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Apple-AR-VR-Headset-1024x585.png?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-499383" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Apple-AR-VR-Headset-1024x585.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Apple-AR-VR-Headset-300x171.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Apple-AR-VR-Headset-768x439.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Apple-AR-VR-Headset-1536x878.png 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Apple-AR-VR-Headset-2048x1170.png 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Apple-AR-VR-Headset-696x398.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Apple-AR-VR-Headset-1068x610.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Apple-AR-VR-Headset-1920x1097.png 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Apple-AR-VR-Headset-735x420.png 735w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Apple AR/VR Headset Concept Design Render</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>According to the <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-12-01/apple-mixed-reality-headset-rivaling-meta-set-to-run-xros-operating-system">report from <em>Bloomberg</em></a>, Apple has decided to call the software powering the augmented reality and virtual reality headset xrOS instead of the previously rumored <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/realityos">RealityOS</a> or rOS.</p>

<p>This new information about the software comes at a time when the technology giant is expected to be preparing for the launch of the headset sometime in 2023. Along with the headset having its operating system, it will also have a dedicated app store, similar to the Apple TV and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-watch">Apple Watch</a>.</p>

<p>If the rumors are to be believed, then the device from Apple will be a Mixed Reality device similar to the Microsoft HoloLens, which will support both <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/augmented-reality">Augmented Reality</a> and Virtual Reality. The XR term stands for Extended Reality, which includes both augmented and virtual reality.</p>

<p>Apple has redesigned some of its applications like <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-maps">Maps</a> and Messenger for a better experience on an AR/VR headset, but the company is also developing a Software Development Kit, allowing third-party developers to create applications for the new platform.</p>

<p>While there&#8217;s no solid information about the device getting launched, some reports indicate that the product could get launched in the first half of 2023 and will be available for purchase from the second half of the year. We expect to get more information in the coming months.</p>

<p>A new report had hinted at <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Apple </a>working on an interesting new project. With Meta (parent company of Facebook) aggressively pushing its Metaverse out, it appears that the iPhone maker is also working on its own version of the Metaverse.</p>

<p>As of right now, many are still waiting for the Cupertino based giant to announce its highly anticipated AR/VR based headset, which will be the brand&#8217;s latest line of consumer electronic products. However, its launch is only rumored and the company has yet to reveal any launch timeline for this device. Although previous rumors have hinted at the mixed reality headset launching sometime in Spring 2023. But according to <em><a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/newsletters/2022-11-13/apple-reality-pro-headset-plans-3d-mixed-reality-world-games-video-service-lafgxl1e" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Bloomberg&#8217;s Mark Gurman</a></em>, the company isn&#8217;t planning on stopping with a simple new hardware release.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="800" height="500" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/apple-ar-headset-concept-2.webp?x10805" alt="Apple" class="wp-image-495375" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/apple-ar-headset-concept-2.webp 800w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/apple-ar-headset-concept-2-300x188.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/apple-ar-headset-concept-2-768x480.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/apple-ar-headset-concept-2-696x435.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/apple-ar-headset-concept-2-672x420.webp 672w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></figure></div>

<p>The new report claims that Apple has already begun working on a whole &#8220;3D mixed reality world&#8221; and is currently in the process of hiring talents for this project. In other words, the brand is launching its own alternative to the metaverse to rival Meta in the mixed reality world category. Furthermore, Gurman based the news on Apple&#8217;s latest job listings. Apparently, the company is working on its own version of the Metaverse, which will be based on both virtual reality and augmented reality.</p>

<p>So it would appear that the upcoming AR/VR headset launch might be the brand&#8217;s first step into this endeavor. Interestingly enough, the search engine giant, Google, is also believed to be working on a mixed reality headset as well. Meaning that all three American tech giants are entering into the new mixed reality future, which Tim Cook hinted at being &#8220;the next big thing.&#8221;</p>

And now, the latest information regarding this product has revealed that the new AR/VR headset might be launching at the start of next year, but it may tear a hole through your wallet.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-436608 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Screenshot-2022-01-11-124300.png?x10805" alt="Apple" width="682" height="385" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Screenshot-2022-01-11-124300.png 682w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Screenshot-2022-01-11-124300-300x169.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 682px) 100vw, 682px" /></p>
<p>The news arrives from known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. In a new tweet, Kuo claimed that the Cupertino based giant is planning on releasing its &#8220;next revolutionary consumer electronics product after the iPhone” next year. For those unaware, the mixed reality headset will apparently offer both Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality functionality. But unfortunately, it will also be quite expensive as well. It will reportedly launch with a hefty price tag between 2,000 to 2,500 US Dollars.</p>
<p>Furthermore, the analyst added that the mixed reality headset could launch sometime as early as January 2023. The announcement of this headset will also focus on three aspects as per Kuo. This includes its applications, the software/service/development ecosystem, and end with hardware specifications. Interestingly, the mixed reality device isn&#8217;t the only headset that the brand is working on, as he claims that Apple will also launch an AR exclusive headset as well.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-422850 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/apple-vr-headset.jpg?x10805" alt="Apple VR headset" width="1500" height="750" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/apple-vr-headset.jpg 1500w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/apple-vr-headset-300x150.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/apple-vr-headset-768x384.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/apple-vr-headset-1024x512.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/apple-vr-headset-696x348.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/apple-vr-headset-1068x534.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/apple-vr-headset-840x420.jpg 840w" sizes="(max-width: 1500px) 100vw, 1500px" /></p>
<p>Apart from this, the company will apparently also launch affordable version of its headset products sometime by early 2025. Unfortunately, this is all the information shared by the analyst on Twitter. Even if this report is true, the announcement for the product is still months away. Although, we can expect additional leaks to surface in the near future, so stick around for more updates.</p>

<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-436608 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Screenshot-2022-01-11-124300.png?x10805" alt="Apple" width="682" height="385" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Screenshot-2022-01-11-124300.png 682w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Screenshot-2022-01-11-124300-300x169.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 682px) 100vw, 682px" /></p>
<p>The news arrives from Mark Gurman who shared the information on his Power On newsletter (Via <a href="https://www.engadget.com/apple-mixed-reality-headset-m2-processor-215501828.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em>Engadget</em></a>). In the report, Bloomberg&#8217;s Gurman stated that the Cupertino based giant&#8217;s upcoming mixed reality headset (AR/VR enabled) will feature the newly unveiled <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-m2/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">M2</a> chipset. For those unaware, this chip is the latest addition into the Apple Silicon series, and is the successor to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-m1/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">M1</a> chips.</p>
<p>Additionally, the new M2 chip in the headset will also be paired with up to 16GB of RAM. Mark Gurman also talked about how the iPhone maker plans on launching a number of new products like a new HomePod speaker as well in the newsletter. Based on our previous report, the mixed reality headset from the company may feature two processors. As per known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, one of the chips will offer performance similar to the last gen M1 chip, while the other is a lower end chip designed to handle data from various sensors.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-422850 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/apple-vr-headset.jpg?x10805" alt="Apple VR headset" width="1500" height="750" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/apple-vr-headset.jpg 1500w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/apple-vr-headset-300x150.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/apple-vr-headset-768x384.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/apple-vr-headset-1024x512.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/apple-vr-headset-696x348.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/apple-vr-headset-1068x534.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/apple-vr-headset-840x420.jpg 840w" sizes="(max-width: 1500px) 100vw, 1500px" /></p>
<p>The mixed reality headset from Apple has been rumored to launch for a while now. The company has already obtained trademark for the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/02/09/apple-working-on-realityos-for-ar-headset/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">RealityOS</a>, with developers also finding references to this new OS in App Store upload logs as well. Unfortunately, it is still unknown when exactly the product will be released in the market. So stick around for more updates.</p>

Now, a new report has hinted that the headset will be revealed in a special event at the start of next year.</p>

<p>&mdash; 郭明錤 (Ming-Chi Kuo) (@mingchikuo) <a href="https://twitter.com/mingchikuo/status/1534063922852302849?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">June 7, 2022</a></p></blockquote>
<p><script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script></p>
<p>The news arrives from known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who shared the information on Twitter. Kuo stated that the Cupertino based giant will finally be unveiling this highly anticipated product during a dedicated event sometime in January 2023. The analyst further added that the iPhone maker will be revealing the product along with new tools for the developers, which will be shipped within &#8220;2 to 4 weeks&#8221; after the event.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-436608 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Screenshot-2022-01-11-124300.png?x10805" alt="Apple" width="682" height="385" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Screenshot-2022-01-11-124300.png 682w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Screenshot-2022-01-11-124300-300x169.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 682px) 100vw, 682px" /></p>
<p>Notably, Kuo claims that pre orders for the upcoming mixed reality will begin in the second quarter of next year. Furthermore, the customers will be able to buy the headset before the WWDC event in 2023. Previous reports have already talked about the development issues that the new product has faced, which has led to delays. This gadget will be a pricey product that will cost somewhere around a whopping 3,000 US Dollars. The mixed reality part of it means that it will be able to run both Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality based applications.</p>

For those unaware, the Cupertino based giant is rumored to be working on a mixed reality based wearable product that will reportedly <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/11/26/apple-ar-headset-launch-2022-with-mac-performance/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">launch sometime in late 2022 or 2023</a>. As per our previous reports, the iPhone maker is believed to be working on at least two AR based gadgets.</p>
<p>One is said to be an AR based <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-glass/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Apple Glass</a>, while the second will be a mixed reality headset that supports both augmented reality and virtual reality. In other words, the realityOS might be the platform used for both of these products. The &#8216;rOS&#8217; will likely be the platform that users interact with, similar to <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/tvos/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">tvOS</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/watchos/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">watchOS</a>.</p>

But, he added this figure will only grow even more as the company maintains its investment in the technology.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-436608 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Screenshot-2022-01-11-124300.png?x10805" alt="Apple" width="682" height="385" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Screenshot-2022-01-11-124300.png 682w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Screenshot-2022-01-11-124300-300x169.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 682px) 100vw, 682px" /></p>
<p>According to a <a href="https://www.phonearena.com/news/cook-plugs-apples-ar-future_id138127" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>PhoneArena</em> </a>report, the executive teased the future of App Store earlier this week, when talking about the Cupertino based giant&#8217;s plans for augmented reality. For those unaware, AR technology essentially adds a layer on top of the real world rather than bring the user to an entirely virtual world like VR (Virtual Reality). In response to a reporter&#8217;s question about the iPhone maker&#8217;s plans with the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/metaverse/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Metaverse</a>, Cook stated that &#8220;We see a lot of potential in this space and are investing accordingly.&#8221;</p>
<p>This statement is in line with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/01/25/apple-working-on-8k-vr-headset-meizu-exec/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">recent rumors</a> that have hinted at Apple working on its first AR/VR mixed reality headset. As per our previous report, the headset was initially planned for a 2022 release, but now, the company has apparently delayed its launch to 2023. In other words, the mixed reality headset may be arriving alongside another one of Apple&#8217;s highly anticipated products, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-glass/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Apple Glass</a>.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-331674 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/apple-ar-glass.jpg?x10805" alt="Apple AR Glasses" width="787" height="413" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/apple-ar-glass.jpg 787w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/apple-ar-glass-300x157.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/apple-ar-glass-768x403.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/apple-ar-glass-696x365.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 787px) 100vw, 787px" /></p>
<p>For those unaware, this pair of glasses would appear to be no different from a regular one. But it will include AR functionalities. Cook also talked about the company&#8217;s research and development team has been working on various aspects like hardware, software, and services. He further added that &#8220;That&#8217;s where the magic really happens. There&#8217;s quite a bit of investment going into things that are not on the market at this point.&#8221;</p>

Nan stated that the iPhone maker is working on a new pair of &#8220;8K glasses.&#8221;</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-439554 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Screenshot-2022-01-25-135845.png?x10805" alt="Apple" width="617" height="218" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Screenshot-2022-01-25-135845.png 617w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Screenshot-2022-01-25-135845-300x106.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 617px) 100vw, 617px" /></p>
<p>The former Chinese smartphone maker&#8217;s executive shared the information on his official Weibo account (a Chinese microblogging website). In the social media post, Li Nan shared this news to address those who still &#8220;had doubts&#8221; regarding the Metaverse. In other words, this product from the Cupertino based giant will be a a VR/AR headset that will allow users to enter the metaverse. Unfortunately, he refrained from revealing any other finer details regarding this matter.</p>
<p>However, this is in line with our previous reports that also stated that Apple is working on its first ever VR headset that is set to launch soon. Initially, it was believed that the headset will launch later this year, but recent rumors hint at a delayed release in 2023. Apparently, the VR headset from Apple will <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/11/26/apple-ar-headset-launch-2022-with-mac-performance/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">feature performance that matches M1 Macs</a> and will also use the same<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/01/11/apple-vr-headset-use-macbook-pros-96w-adapter/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"> 96W USB Type C</a> as the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/macbook-pro-14-inch/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">14 inch MacBook Pro</a>. Now, the ex-Meizu official also hints at its native 8K resolution support.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-436608 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Screenshot-2022-01-11-124300.png?x10805" alt="Apple" width="682" height="385" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Screenshot-2022-01-11-124300.png 682w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Screenshot-2022-01-11-124300-300x169.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 682px) 100vw, 682px" /></p>
<p>Known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo stated that the brand’s headset will house two processors, one of which is a 5nm based chip while the other is a smaller 4nm based chipset. Both of these processors will be manufactured by the world’s largest contract chipmaker, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/tsmc/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">TSMC</a>. The higher end chipset will offer computing power that rivals M1 chips in the new Macs, while the lower end processor would be dedicated towards the various sensors and related components of the headset. It is expected to launch in the first quarter of next year, so stick around for more updates regarding this matter.</p>

<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-436608 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Screenshot-2022-01-11-124300.png?x10805" alt="Apple" width="682" height="385" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Screenshot-2022-01-11-124300.png 682w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Screenshot-2022-01-11-124300-300x169.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 682px) 100vw, 682px" /></p>
<p>Additionally, it is expected that Apple will launch its new headset with an innovative experience with seamless switching between AR (Augmented Reality) and VR (Virtual Reality) modes. The analyst further stated that the headset will be two or three years ahead of the company&#8217;s rivals and their offerings in terms of computing power. Kuo had previously claimed that the headset will be launched in the fourth quarter of this year and shipments rising in the first quarter of 2023.</p>

<p>The news arrives from known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo on his latest investors note (Via <a href="https://9to5mac.com/2021/11/25/kuo-apples-ar-headset-to-launch-in-2022-with-mac-level-computing-power-will-operate-without-the-iphone/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>9To5Mac</em></a>). Kuo added that the Cupertino based giant will launch the headset &#8220;with the same computing power level as the Mac,&#8221; with its chip design being the major difference between the AR headset from other brands. As per the analyst, the iPhone maker is also looking to replace the iPhone with AR in 10 years, with this headset acting as the first step towards thsi goal.</p>
<p>Notably, the 2022 launch year is in line with Kuo&#8217;s previous estimates of a fourth quarter launch next year. He stated that &#8220;The higher end processor will have similar computing power as the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-m1/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">M1</a> for Mac, whereas the lower end processor will be in charge of sensor related computing.” Kuo is predicting that the AR headset will be equipped with two Sony 4K micro OLED display panels and will even arrive with support for VR.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-422850 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/apple-vr-headset.jpg?x10805" alt="Apple VR headset" width="1500" height="750" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/apple-vr-headset.jpg 1500w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/apple-vr-headset-300x150.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/apple-vr-headset-768x384.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/apple-vr-headset-1024x512.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/apple-vr-headset-696x348.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/apple-vr-headset-1068x534.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/apple-vr-headset-840x420.jpg 840w" sizes="(max-width: 1500px) 100vw, 1500px" /></p>
<p>Through its capable process power, the product could easily be a standalone gadget that doesn&#8217;t need to be paired with another Apple product. Kuo says that &#8220;if the headset is positioned only as an accessory for the Mac or iPhone, it will not be conducive to the growth of the product. An AR headset that works independently means that it will have its own ecosystem and provide the most complete and flexible user experience.”</p>

<p>According to a <a href="https://www.patentlyapple.com/patently-apple/2021/11/apple-advances-face-id-to-create-multiple-user-profiles-while-introducing-new-privacy-eyewear-and-more.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>PatentlyApple</em> </a>report (Via <a href="https://9to5mac.com/2021/11/11/apple-patent-reveals-new-privacy-feature-to-show-iphone-content-only-through-special-glasses/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>9To5Mac</em></a>), the patent in question describes a system that can display &#8220;vision corrected graphical outputs and standard graphical outputs on an electronic device.” However, a notable aspect of this system was the &#8220;Privacy Eyewear,&#8221; which can block other people around the user from seeing the content being displayed on the iPhone&#8217;s screen. Furthermore, the only way to see what&#8217;s on the display is through a special glasses.</p>
<p>Notably, the patent arrives amid rumors of the Cupertino based giant working on a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-ar-vr-headset/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">mixed reality based headset</a> and even an <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-glass/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">AR (Augmented Reality) based glasses</a>. In other words, we might see this feature ship with these wearable products, which could even be a major selling point for the brand. Apart from just the new privacy feature, the iPhone maker is also working on on profiles for Face ID. The patent talks about an additional system that will be capable of differentiating between unique details on the user&#8217;s face. This includes aspects like hairstyles, beard, mustache, glasses, sunglasses, and more.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-331674 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/apple-ar-glass.jpg?x10805" alt="Apple AR Glasses" width="787" height="413" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/apple-ar-glass.jpg 787w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/apple-ar-glass-300x157.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/apple-ar-glass-768x403.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/apple-ar-glass-696x365.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 787px) 100vw, 787px" /></p>
<p>This feature could even make its way to the company&#8217;s Mac series of PCs as Touch ID lets users quickly switch accounts simply by scanning their fingerprints. So, it might be another seamless biometric verification system offered to the users. Although, this is still just a patent at the moment, so take this report with a pinch of salt for now.</p>

<p>According to an <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/newsletters/2021-03-31/apple-wwdc-why-virtual-launch-events-aren-t-quite-the-same" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Bloomberg</em></a> report, the Cupertino based giant is planning on launching a mixed reality headset sometime within the next several months. Although, the report further added that the iPhone maker would likely not want to make the announcement for a new range of product at an online event and that it would want to its employees, the media, its partners, and the developers to be present in the room.</p>
<p>Furthermore, the report also says that the WWDC 2021 event will be the company&#8217;s last event in the digital format as it would return to in person media event by early next year. Bloomberg believes that the company &#8216;makes hardware&#8217; and it wants attendees, along with its employees as well, to bring back the in person use, test, and development of these products. Earlier this week, Apple had announced that it would host its WWDC 2021 event online and on June 11.</p>

<p>During this event, the consumer electronics maker will be talking about the future of softwares like iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS. For those unaware, Apple has been rumored to be working on an AR/VR headset, which is said to be a lightweight device that costs anywhere between 1,000 to 3,000 US Dollars. Unfortunately, while <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/03/15/apples-vr-headset-controller-device-worn-two-fingers-patent/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">various patents have surfaced online</a>, there are no finer details and specifications known at the moment. So stay tuned.</p>

The upcoming headset will apparently offer a wide range of advanced AR (Augmented Reality) experiences.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-141264 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/Star-Wars-AR-Headset.jpg?x10805" alt="Apple" width="680" height="442" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/Star-Wars-AR-Headset.jpg 680w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/Star-Wars-AR-Headset-300x195.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 680px) 100vw, 680px" /></p>
<p>As per the note from Kuo (Via <a href="https://appleinsider.com/articles/21/03/09/kuo-apple-ar-headset-to-feature-15-cameras-for-pass-through-vr-experience-biometrics" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>AppleInsider</em></a>), the Cupertino based giant will integrate a total of 15 image sensors in the AR headset, which is also rumored to launch in 2022. At the moment, the current generation of VR headsets typically features anywhere between two and five cameras for interacting with its surrounding environment or performing image pass through operations. Eight of the camera modules will be supplied primarily by Largan.</p>
<p>These sensors will be placed around the headset to facilitate a pass through VR experience. In simpler terms, the technology will allow users to &#8220;see through&#8221; the enclosed device by feeding exterior images onto the display on the inside of the headset. It is reported that the Apple AR headset will feature high resolution MicroLED display panels. Furthermore, the company is expected to bring &#8220;innovative biometrics&#8221; that will work through six additional modules.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-357743 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/39097-74755-37323-70027-32573-55893-magic-leap-header-xl-xl-xl.jpg?x10805" alt="Apple" width="870" height="485" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/39097-74755-37323-70027-32573-55893-magic-leap-header-xl-xl-xl.jpg 870w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/39097-74755-37323-70027-32573-55893-magic-leap-header-xl-xl-xl-300x167.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/39097-74755-37323-70027-32573-55893-magic-leap-header-xl-xl-xl-768x428.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/39097-74755-37323-70027-32573-55893-magic-leap-header-xl-xl-xl-696x388.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/39097-74755-37323-70027-32573-55893-magic-leap-header-xl-xl-xl-753x420.jpg 753w" sizes="(max-width: 870px) 100vw, 870px" /></p>
<p>Unfortunately, it is unknown if this biometric system is similar to the Face ID, capturing facial data, or other forms of authentication related to facial features and their movement. Interestingly, this feature might also have other applications in VR as well. The final camera module will be installed for environmental detection. As per Kuo, the first iteration of the rumored headset will launch sometime next year and will feature a new processor and an onboard storage. This would make it portable and capable of working independently from iPhones or Macs.</p>

The most recent report from<a href="https://www.theinformation.com/articles/new-apple-mixed-reality-headset-details-swappable-headbands-eye-tracking" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"> The Information</a> presently uncovers that the headset will cost a premium, around $3000, and will highlight 8K presentations, a ground-breaking processor, and heaps of sensors and cameras.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/apple-vr-headset.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-369769" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/apple-vr-headset.jpg?x10805" alt="Apple AR/VR headset" width="1024" height="682" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/apple-vr-headset.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/apple-vr-headset-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/apple-vr-headset-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/apple-vr-headset-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/apple-vr-headset-631x420.jpg 631w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></p>
<p>The report additionally indicated a render of how the headset may look. The headset will have a texture network outside that will diminish its general weight, and this data confirms with a report from Bloomberg from a month ago. The headset likewise seems as though its headbands are propelled by the wristbands found on the Apple Watch.</p>
<p>Its Apple Silicon processor apparently will be more impressive than the M1 chip, and it will control 8K presentations on the headset. Be that as it may, it will not be continually running at 8K goal, rather it will utilize a strategy called &#8220;Foveated delivering&#8221;, where the headset will progressively scale goal dependent on where the client is zeroing in on the screen<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Apple-MR-headset-render.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-369770" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Apple-MR-headset-render.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="1100" height="580" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Apple-MR-headset-render.jpg 1100w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Apple-MR-headset-render-300x158.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Apple-MR-headset-render-768x405.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Apple-MR-headset-render-1024x540.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Apple-MR-headset-render-696x367.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Apple-MR-headset-render-1068x563.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Apple-MR-headset-render-797x420.jpg 797w" sizes="(max-width: 1100px) 100vw, 1100px" /></a></p>
<p>Since the headset will likewise have AR usefulness, it will have heaps of cameras to follow hand development and LIDAR sensors to plan the climate. On the off chance that the improvement interaction stays on target, we may the headset be delivered at some point in 2022, after which Apple intends to deliver a lighter AR headset that will be more stand<strong>ard.</strong></p>

Sources close to the matter have stated that the company is already working on this AR headset.</p>
<p>According to a <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-01-21/apple-s-first-vr-headset-to-be-niche-precursor-to-eventual-ar-glasses" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Bloomberg</em> </a>report, the new headset will be an expensive and &#8220;niche&#8221; predecessor to the company&#8217;s more ambitious augmented reality products that will arrive in the future. While the Cupertino based giant has been rumored to be working on such a headset, the sources have claimed that the company is facing several hurdles in its development at the moment. This headset would also be the first new major product line since the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-watch/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Apple Watch</a>.</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_91723" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-91723" style="width: 600px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-91723 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/xiaomi-vr-headset3.jpg?x10805" alt="Apple" width="600" height="342" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/xiaomi-vr-headset3.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/xiaomi-vr-headset3-300x171.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-91723" class="wp-caption-text">Xiaomi VR Headset</figcaption></figure></p>
<p>As per the report, Apple is currently facing difficulties in development and only expects modest sales of its new product. The device will lean more towards virtual reality, for the purpose of gaming, watching videos, and even communication. So, we can expect it to only have limited augmented reality capabilities. For those unaware, VR is basically displaying 3D digitally rendered environments, while AR overlays images and information over a view of the real world.</p>

<p>Unfortunately, the report also mentions that this Apple product might be more expensive than most of the current market competitors. While a headset from is rival can cost between 300 to 900 US Dollars, the sources have claimed that the Apple product will be far more expensive and that the company only expects to sell one headset per day per retail store as its price could reach up to the 5,999 US Dollars Mac Pro desktop computer.</p>

<p>The headset is codenamed N301 and is currently in the late prototype stage in development. So, Apple has no finalized plans for a possible launch. Furthermore, the AR Glasses from the company is codenamed N421 and is in the early stage known as &#8220;architecture&#8221; at the moment. This implies that the company is working on ironing out the technology that will be used in the product. Thus, it is still too early to provide any concrete statements. So stay tuned for more updates.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Apple has been a leader in research and development relating to AR and VR technology for several years, even CEO, Tim Cook had stated that augmented reality was promising.  </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The headset, which is expected to be quite expensive, could usher in a new way of producing smartphones using augmented reality glasses.  2022 is the expected year of release of the headset by Apple and it will square up against other VR headsets like Facebook’s Oculus and PlayStation VR, from Sony. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The VR-AR headset is a culmination of active research and development in the area by Apple for several years, as the company deployed components of VR and AR devices and software. Last year the LiDAR technology was deployed in the sensor of the iPhone 12 Pro, making the device to be more versatile and in performing augmented reality activities.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The technology used for the VR headset could be scaled up and adjusted so that Apple could indeed come up with thinner and premium looking smart glasses touted to replace the iPhone within the decade. </span></p>
<p><div class="su-note" style="border-color:#e5e5e5;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;"><div class="su-note-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim" style="background-color:#ffffff;border-color:#ffffff;color:#333333;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick: <a title="OPPO Reno 5 Pro 5G Hands-on: Premium in the Right Areas" href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/01/18/oppo-reno-5-pro-5g-hands-on-premium-in-the-right-areas/" rel="bookmark">OPPO Reno 5 Pro 5G Hands-on: Premium in the Right Areas</a></strong></div></div></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The new VR-AR headset is primarily a virtual reality gadget, with a remarkable 3D digital environment on display, which enables the user to carry out any task from watching a video to playing his favorite game, as well as a number of other tasks. However, the VR=AR headset may have much limited AR capability, as this is an area of continuing research, as they inch towards firming up the technology for more revolutionary applications.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The headset, like the existing stuff of this nature, will have a battery that powers its operations and does not require a console, unlike Sony’s PlayStation equivalent headset, PSVR.  However, it is projected that the price of the VR-AR headset from Apple will be much higher than that of its current competitors.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">From the Bloomberg report, there could be single sales of the device daily at its various retail locations, as a strategy to ramp up the cost and demand of the flagship product from Apple. It is also seen in some quarters as a gamble by Apple into the uncharted territory of augmented reality, an area that is still in development. The design of the headset may after all, just be a prototype of a more enduring device or gadget using smart AR glass technology.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The risk of such release of seemingly revolutionary products is the possibility of it turning to a flop. A clear case is the Google glass product, launched in 2013 but collapsed two years later.</span></p>
