The trailer showcased stunning graphics, a sprawling open world, and the game’s two protagonists, Lucia and Jason.

Here’s what’s fueling the rumor mill:

• Rockstar Games’ API Update: A dedicated fan-made Twitter bot keeps tabs on Rockstar’s API for GTA 6 news. Recently, the bot discovered four new links hinting at potential content: new game screenshots and possibly key art/cover art. Clicking these links currently leads to a dead end (404 error). What does that mean? That the content isn’t uploaded yet.
• Rockstar’s Social Media Cleanup: IT House points out that Rockstar recently cleared most of their Instagram content, leaving only posts related to the latest GTA Online DLC, GTA+, music labels, and minor posts. Rockstar Games, the studio behind the iconic Grand Theft Auto series,  is reeling from another major security breach. Following recent leaks and rumors surrounding the highly anticipated GTA 6, the entire source code for its predecessor, GTA 5 – and potentially more – has now been leaked online.

GTA 5 source code leak suggests Bully 2 could be real!

The leaked code includes some interesting tidbits, such as a file for Bully 2, a long-rumored sequel to the beloved action-adventure game. Bully was first launched in between Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Grand Theft Auto 4. It provided a similar gameplay experience as the aforementioned games but in a new place with new quests, characters, and activities.

Fans have been eagerly waiting for its successor, and the latest leak suggests Rockstar Games may have been working on Bully 2 behind the scenes for a while.

Along with the Bully 2, the leak also has an early map for GTA 5 and a script confirming that GTA 6 was once codenamed “Project Americas.”

YouTuber SKizzleAXE shared a screenshot of the code, seemingly verifying the leak. A fan named “Agent” also shared some leaked code and images of the RAGE engine on X/Twitter, but those posts have been removed.

Unfortunately, we don’t know how this leak happened. However, there are indications that the GTA 5 code was leaked on Discord. There are also rumors that the full code has been privately traded between individuals since 2022. Although we are not sure, this time frame coincides with the initial leak of 10,000 lines of GTA 6 code, suggesting a broader breach that exposed both games.

This is a major blow for Rockstar. Not only is the leaked code a valuable asset, but it could also lead to technical issues and even delays for upcoming games, like GTA 6. 

Gaming Detective (@that1detectiv3), a prominent online reporter, highlighted these potential consequences, urging caution and stressing the seriousness of the breach. 

Rockstar Games hasn’t publicly commented on the leak at the time of writing this article.

Arion Kurtaj, an 18-year-old hacker from Oxford, has been sentenced to an indefinite stay in a secure hospital following a major security breach involving unreleased footage of the highly anticipated video game Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) which may launch in September 2025. Kurtaj, diagnosed with acute autism, was a prominent member of the international hacking group Lapsus$, known for their attacks on prominent tech firms like Nvidia, Microsoft, Uber, and Rockstar Games, causing nearly $10 million in damages.

Teen Hacker Behind Massive GTA 6 Leak Sentenced to Indefinite Hospital Stay

Despite being on bail for a previous Nvidia hack and under police protection at a Travelodge hotel, Kurtaj executed a significant hack on Rockstar Games. Using an Amazon Firestick, a hotel TV, and a mobile phone, he breached Rockstar’s internal Slack messaging system and leaked 90 clips of GTA 6, which he threatened to release further unless contacted by Rockstar. The leaks included the game’s source code and footage, posted under the alias “TeaPotUberHacker.”

Kurtaj’s trial was unique as his autism led to him being deemed unfit to stand trial in a traditional sense. Instead, the jury was tasked with determining if he was responsible for the attacks, rather than assessing criminal intent. His violent behavior in custody and continued expression of intent to return to cybercrime were significant factors in the trial.

The impact of Kurtaj’s actions was profound, with Rockstar Games reporting a $5 million loss and thousands of hours of staff time spent in recovery. Despite this, Kurtaj’s defense argued that the recent successful GTA 6 trailer release suggested minimal negative impact from the hack. However, the court recognized the broader harm caused by his and Lapsus$’s activities, including attacks on other major tech firms and individuals.

Another 17-year-old member of Lapsus$ was also convicted in the same trial, receiving a Youth Rehabilitation Order. Lapsus$, described as “digital bandits,” has been notorious for their bold cybercrimes, often publicly taunting their victims. While Kurtaj and the unnamed minor have been convicted, other members of the group are believed to still be at large. This case highlights the growing concern over sophisticated cybercrimes committed by increasingly younger individuals.

Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6), shrouded in secrecy, continues to face a torrent of leaks. The latest comes from an anonymous source claiming to be a former Rockstar office cleaner, who suggests the game might have a vast map and release in September 2025.

The leak, posted on a gaming subreddit, describes the cleaner’s observations during a six-month stint at Rockstar where they observed glimpses of the game despite security measures.

The most interesting detail shared is seeing a final frame, possibly from a trailer or some advert, featuring the GTA logo and “September 2025” under it – potentially hinting at the release month. Additionally, the cleaner claims to have witnessed a “huge” map with multiple city clusters saying:

‘The map looked huge, saw it on a monitor briefly as I was walking past one of the devs, looked like there were like 2-3 big clusters of roads which I’m assuming were cities/towns.’

The leak also mentions that they overheard one of the devs expressing relief about the absence of actor Bryan Zampella, who was once rumored for a lead role.

However, some details shared by the alleged cleaner raise eyebrows. The use of “liquor” instead of “alcohol”, a common American term in a UK context, casts some doubt on the cleaner’s authenticity.

Also, it’s hard to believe the cleaner didn’t sign a secret agreement (NDA) considering the game’s secrecy and Rockstar’s reputation for protecting its projects.

The moderators of the subreddit where the leak surfaced claim to have received proof of the cleaner’s employment, but the information’s validity remains in question.

It’s possible the cleaner is genuine but unknowingly violated an NDA, and may potentially face legal consequences. Or maybe they made it all up just to get attention online. So, we think it’s better to be a bit skeptical.

Many are excited about the confirmation of GTA 6 availability on XBox Series S/X and the PlayStation 5 via the trailer itself, but many are still curious as to when and if the game will be released on the PC. The game, which took over a decade to develop and created history with the trailer on YouTube, will still take some time to officially launch on gaming consoles.

Rockstar initially launches games for consoles and then comes for PC, which usually takes from a few months to a few years. Mike York, the game developer, has now explained the reasons for the PC port’s delay. He also sheds some light on why Rockstar game developers focus more on the console versions of the game.

While explaining on his YouTube channel, York Reacts, he discusses the delays in PC ports, using GTA 6 as an example. It also emphasizes the importance of prioritizing console development before heading to the PC ports.

Reasons for Delay in PC Port for GTA 6:

As per York, the Developers take time to optimize console versions, concentrating on the platforms with higher sales, like Play Station, etc. Further, making the PC port the best involves refining and enhancing games based on the new possibilities offered by PC hardware. The diverse hardware configurations make it difficult for the developers to refine each bug and take a longer time in development.

In an example, York explained, “Most of the time, especially in the past, PlayStation was the big seller…so what the developer would do is focus all their energy on making sure the PlayStation port and the PlayStation game works really well”, and “When I was working on GTA 5 for instance, we would concentrate on the PS3 and the Xbox at the time but we were mainly pushing the PS3 to the limits.”

After development, the testing process gets extensive due to different GPUs and CPUs. The limited resources and manpower on the developer end led to the prioritization of console versions over PC ports. These issues are also lingering over the PC port development of GTA 6.

That is not all, the video has also achieved the title of the most viewed non-music YouTube video on the first day, beating out the previous record of 59.4 million views that was held by MrBeast.

The GTA 6 trailer also became the most-liked YouTube video in 24 hours, garnering over 8.9 million views. At the moment, this figure now sits at nearly 10 million likes. Keep in mind that this is just the first trailer for the Grand Theft Auto 6, with more to come soon. Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) is officially coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S in 2025. The news was confirmed by a press release issued by Rockstar’s parent company, Take-Two Interactive. However, the company has yet to provide any information regarding a PC release.

GTA 6 will likely come to PC eventually, but there is no official word on when that might be. This release strategy mirrors the approach taken for previous GTA installments. 

Both Grand Theft Auto V and IV were released first on consoles, with PC ports following later. GTA 4 arrived on PC eight months after consoles, while GTA 5 took longer, releasing 18 months after its console counterpart.

The game’s trailer was leaked online early, but Rockstar Games quickly released an official version writing: “Our trailer has leaked so please watch the real thing on YouTube.”

The trailer itself is a short but action-packed affair, showcasing the neon-lit streets of Vice City and its surrounding areas. According to Take-Two, GTA 6 is “the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet.”

The trailer also gives us a glimpse of the game’s protagonist, a young woman named Lucia. This makes GTA VI the first game in the series to feature a female protagonist, and it is also the first game to be set in Vice City since 2002’s Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.

The trailer got millions of likes in less than 10 minutes, clearly depicting how people were thirsty for this.

In September 2022, the gaming world was rocked by the release of 90 video clips showing unfinished gameplay of the long-awaited triple-A blockbuster title Grand Theft Auto 6. The clips were quickly taken down, but not before they had been seen by millions of people.

The investigation into the leak eventually led to the arrest of an 18-year-old boy Arion Kurtaj in the UK. The boy was a member of the Lapsuss$ hacker group. Lapsus$ is a loosely organized group of hackers who have been linked to a number of high-profile data breaches, including those affecting Microsoft, Nvidia, and Okta.

Before hacking Rockstar, Kurtaj was arrested for the second time after the Nvidia breach of February 2022. He was kept in a Travelodge hotel in Bicester due to safety concerns. The police had strict bail conditions for him, including barring him from using the internet. However, that was not enough to prevent him from continuing his hacks.

GTA 6 Gameplay Leaked via Amazon Fire TV Stick

According to a BBC report, Kurtaj used a simple Amazon Fire TV Stick, a smartphone, a keyboard, and a mouse to infiltrate Rockstar’s cloud services. He accessed the internet through the hotel’s television, despite his bailed conditions that barred him from using the internet. 

He then stole unfinished gameplay clips of Grand Theft Auto VI and messaged Rockstar employees on Slack, claiming to be an attacker and threatening to release the source code if they didn’t contact him on Telegram.

Meanwhile, around 90 clips of the game were later released on the GTA Forums on September 18, 2022. It is not clear if the teenager was the one who leaked the footage since it was posted under the alias “TeaPotUberHacker” on a GTA fan forum. But Kurtaj was arrested again and detained for trial shortly after.

Presumably, the GTA 6 leaker was likely assisted by other members of the hacker group. A 17-year-old accomplice, who operated in England and Brazil, was also put on trial for his involvement in these cyber attacks.

Rockstar Games has not released any official information about GTA 6 yet, but it is expected to be released in 2024. In the meantime, fans can revisit Grand Theft Auto V across multiple platforms.

Microsoft essentially argues that Call of Duty alone does not constitute enough of the market share to hurt competition, thus pointing to franchises like Grand Theft Auto. The most striking point is on Page 24 of the document: “The highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) is expected to be released in 2024”.

Considering the level of cooperation between Microsoft and Rockstar, we can say this information is likely correct. However, the company is under CMA investigation, and a billion-dollar deal could be in jeopardy. Therefore, it is impossible to say anything definite about the accuracy of the information.

Reports have suggested that the game could be prepped for launch by 2025, although a 2024 release date doesn’t seem unlikely. There is also a good chance that Rockstar could announce a 2024 release date initially and delay it to the next year. A game the scale of Grand Theft Auto VI needs all the polish and time in development it can get.

Following the massive success of Rockstar‘s Grand Theft Auto V, fans of the series have been waiting patiently for the next title in the popular franchise. And now, a huge leak has revealed some very interesting details regarding the GTA 6 as well as offering us a glimpse of what it would actually look like.

The leak arrives from a user on GTAForums called ‘teapotuberhacker.’ He shared leaked clips of the game, which were widely shared soon after they were published. As of right now, Grand Theft Auto VI is easily one of the most anticipated video games in the gaming industry. With its predecessor being the second best selling game of all time, it arrives as no surprise that fans across the globe are waiting to see where the franchise goes next. The wait has already been almost a decade long, so the leak comes as a relief to many, since it confirms that the game is currently being developed.

Based on the leaked video clips that have now been taken down and included more than 90 video clips that showcases the two main characters of the upcoming game, a robbery scene, and more. One of the two leads in the game is a female character, which is a first for the GTA series. The leak also revealed the robbery scene at a diner where a female can be seen stealing money and taking hostages before the police eventually show up. Here, one female character called Lucia is accompanied by a male called Jason. They snatch one of their vehicles and is told to abandon them to complete the mission.

It seems unclear whether the leaks are entirely accurate. However, 90 leaked videos in such detail is quite rare for someone that is faking the whole thing. At the moment, the authenticity of these leaks are still in question. But regardless, the game is still a couple of years away from being released. The game in the leak appears to be an early build and is clearly under development.
