When choosing a high-end camera flagship in the Android market as of 2021, your options are normally the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, Vivo X70 Pro Plus, Oppo Find X3 Pro or the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra. Besides their outstanding camera performance, another similarity they have is that all the camera phones mentioned above are using Qualcomm Snapdragon flagship chipsets, namely the flagship Snapdragon 888.

But Qualcomm is not the only manufacturer supplying flagship chipsets, MediaTek also has a series of flagship chipsets under its belt, namely the MediaTek Dimensity 1100, Dimensity 1200, and the recently announced Dimensity 9000 coming to smartphones next year. Since that is the case, then why do suppliers prefer to put Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets compared to the MediaTek counterpart?

In a press meeting today, Vivo Senior Product Manager, Mr. Han Boxiao, mentioned that from his experience in the industry, smartphones equipped with MediaTek chipsets actually do not take worse photos than smartphones equipped with Snapdragon chipsets. He mentions that the days of MediaTek being a worse performer than Qualcomm in terms of ISP processing and camera lens support have long been over, ever since the release of the MediaTek Helio P70 in 2018.

For reference, Vivo used the MediaTek Helio P70 in the standard model of the Vivo S1, the debut smartphone for Vivo’s new S series which would then be known as Vivo’s upper mid-range smartphone lineup with a focus on design and camera. 

Mr Han Boxiao also mentions that the reason why the myth that MediaTek smartphones don’t perform as well as compared to the Snapdragon counterparts in the camera department, is the lack of research and development from phone manufacturers themselves on their MediaTek smartphones. He notes that he found many MediaTek phones not being equipped even with the most important and fundamental factor of great smartphone photography — smartphone lenses equipped with OIS. The OIS not only enables better video stabilization, but it also provides better low-light photos, as better stabilisation helps to capture more colours in the scene within a shorter exposure time.

From the statements said by Mr. Han Boxiao, it can be deduced that if smartphone manufacturers are willing to pour in better camera hardware, as well as better research and development for its MediaTek smartphones, MediaTek phones may even outshine flagships equipped with Snapdragon chipsets.

This comes right after Vivo was confirmed to be one of the first phone manufacturers to use the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 in its next flagship smartphone. To refresh your memory, the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 is equipped with a fifth-generation six-core APU for AI processing. The 18-bit ISP can shoot 4K HDR videos with three cameras simultaneously. The Snapdragon 765G mobile platform powered ZTE Axon 11 5G was made official in China in March. Earlier this week, the Chinese firm took off covers from the Dimensity 800 powered ZTE Axon 11 SE 5G. It debuted as the cheapest 5G phone from the brand. The Chinese firm has silently announced a new Axon 11 member called ZTE Axon 11 4G. Some of its main features include the Helio P70 processor and 64MP quad cameras.

ZTE Axon 11 4G specifications

The ZTE Axon 11 4G has a 6.47-inch AMOLED display that curves towards the edges. It supports 1080 x 2340 pixels and 19.5:9 aspect. The waterdrop notch on the screen houses an f/2.0 aperture 20-megapixel selfie camera. It has an in-display fingerprint reader.

ZTE is bringing a new mid-range smartphone to Europe soon. According to a leak posted on the internet, the phone is the ZTE Blade V 2020 and it will come with MediaTek’s Helio P70 processor.

Renders, specs, as well as the price of the phone, were posted on Twitter by Sudhanshu Ambhore (Sudhanshu1414).

According to the images, the phone shares most of its design with the ZTE a1 5G phone sold in Japan. So you get a phone with a punch-hole display, a squircle camera housing that holds four cameras, and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

The Blade V 2020 will have a 6.53-inch FHD+ (2340 x 1080) display with a punch-hole at the top left corner of the display. The renders show the hole is pretty small but expect the real device to be much bigger.

As stated above, there is an Helio P70 processor inside the phone and it has been paired with 4GB of RAM. There is also 128GB of storage and support for storage expansion (512GB max.).

The Blade V 2020 is said to have a 48MP primary camera with an 8MP secondary sensor, and a third 2MP camera. The fourth sensor isn’t stated but might be a ToF sensor like that of the ZTE a1. The phone also has a 16MP selfie camera.

ZTE has put a 4000mAh battery inside the phone that charges via USB-C. The phone also has an audio jack. It will be available in Blue and White with a price tag of €279 (~$302/INR 23,043). That sure is a lot to ask for a phone powered by a MediaTek P70 chipset.

There is no info on when ZTE will launch the Blade V 2020 but it shouldn’t be far.

Most rugged industrial smartphones don’t have good cameras. But the OUKITEL WP6 features a triple camera setup at the back consisting of a 48MP primary sensor with f/1.79 aperture paired with a 2MP depth sensor and an aux camera. Whereas, the selfie camera that houses in the notch is of 16MP with f/2.0 aperture. As for authentication, the device supports face unlock as well as a traditional fingerprint sensor located on the right side.

The company also assures the operating system of the phone to be faster than its previous models as well as phones from its competitors. Unfortunately, the brand did not reveal the pricing of the handset, which it will do on March 20 and guarantees it to be affordable.

A leaked image and hands-on video of a dummy unit of OPPO F15 appeared today on Indiashopps, suggesting that the rumors might indeed be true.

The TENAA database has couple of unreleased OPPO phones. Among them there is a PCPM00 / PCPT00 phone that is expected to arrive in the market as OPPO A91. The OPPO A91 PCPM00 smartphone has scored 1479 in the single-core test and 5733 in the multi-core test. The Android 9 Pie OS runs on the device. The SoC that powers the smartphone is MediaTek MT6771V/CT that has a base frequency of 1.99 GHz. The chipset is assisted by 8 GB of RAM. The TENAA listing of the phone had revealed that is processor offers clocking speeds of 2.1GHz. Hence, it can be assumed that the Helio P70 SoC is present under the hood of the OPPO PCPM00. It is advisable to wait for further reports to know the exact processor that powers the phone.

The TENAA listing reveals that the OPPO PCPM00 has a 6.4-inch AMOLED full HD+ display which is embedded with a fingerprint reader. Rumors have it that it features the same 3.0 technology in-display fingerprint sensor that is available on the Reno2. It offers 20:9 aspect ratio. The 4,025mAh battery fuels the OPPO A91 phone. The OPPO A91 renders show it features a slim design as it measures only 7.9mm in thickness. The phone features a waterdrop notch enabled display. The rear side of the phone has a gradient appeal, but it is not clear whether it features a glass rear or a glossy polycarbonate back.

The renders show cases the gradient blue and black color editions of the OPPO A91. A leaked poster that was spotted recently had revealed that it will also come in Red. A The bottom side of the phone seems to feature a 3.5mm audio jack, a microphone, a USB-C port and an external speaker. The power button is placed on the right spine whereas the volume up and down buttons can be seen on the left edge.

The Moto G8 series launches today in Brazil but hours before the launch, the Moto G8 Play has begun appearing in online stores. The phone has appeared on MobileHut Chile and has also been spotted on eBay.

The new Moto G8 Play will have a 6.2-inch IPS display with a waterdrop notch for the selfie camera. The MobileHut listing says the phone is powered by a MediaTek Helio P70 processor paired with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage.

There are three cameras on the back of the phone – a 13MP primary rear camera paired with two 2MP sensors. We believe the camera specs are inaccurate. The live photos that leaked last week revealed the phone has an ultrawide angle camera. Since the listing says there are two 2MP sensors, it means one of the two sensors is an ultrawide angle camera and a 2MP 117° ultrawide camera doesn’t make any sense. The listing says there is an 8MP selfie camera and the images show that Motorola has ditched the LED flash of its predecessor.

The Motorola G8 Play also has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and packs a 4000mAh battery. The description provided by the store says there is a USB Type-C port which isn’t surprising since the Moto G7 Play also launched with a USB Type-C port. The phone runs Android 9 Pie out of the box.

MobileHut says the phone is currently not available but you can drop your email address and you will be notified when it is in stock.

The eBay listing has a different processor and camera specs. The processor is said to be the Helio P60 and the triple rear cameras are a 48MP primary sensor paired with a 16MP camera and a 5MP depth sensor. The selfie camera is also stated as a 25MP sensor. Other than these three, the rest of the specs are the same.

The specs for the eBay listing should be taken with a pinch of salt as they were lifted from GSMArena which has listed the same specs for the Moto G8 and Moto G8 Play as placeholders.

The eBay listing says the phone is priced at $199.99 and if you order today, you should get it by Monday, October 28.

Last month, it had launched the Motorola One Action smartphone that came with an action camera feature as its major highlight. The Motorola One Macro that has gone official today has a dedicated macro vision apart from other exciting features like waterdrop notch display, big battery and a decent SoC. It is an entry-level Android One smartphone from the company.

Motorola One Macro Specifications

The Motorola One Macro that comes with a polycarbonate rear. Upfront, it has a 6.2-inch IPS LCD Max Vision display that offers a tall aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and HD+ resolution of 720 x 1520 pixels. The smartphone promises a screen-to-body ratio of 82 percent, claims the company.

The MediaTek Helio P70 chipset that includes 2.0GHz octa-core processor and Mali-G72 MP3 graphics powers the smartphone with 4 GB of RAM. The device offers an inbuilt storage of 64 GB. The Motorola One Macro features a triple camera system on its rear. The main sensor of 13-megapixel has f/2.0 aperture and a pixel size of 1.2micron. It can shoot 60fps full HD videos and 120fps slow-motion footages. The 2-megapixel macro lens with a pixel size of 1.75micron can capture shots as close as 2cm with bokeh effect. It is assisted by a depth sensor of 2-megapixel for portrait shots. Apart from dual-LED flash, the rear cameras are coupled with laser autofocus system. Placed on the frontside of the smartphone is an f/2.2 aperture 8-megapixel selfie camera.

Miami-based low-cost mobile manufacturer Blu revealed their new lineup of premium smartphones on Monday. The Bold N1 is the first device in the new lineup. The company plans to launch two devices in this segment per year. The Bold brand deviates from traditional Blu products as it offers ‘guaranteed Android upgrades’ and two years of security maintenance. The Bold N1 is also composed of ‘higher-grade’ materials and boasts of mid-to-high end hardware capabilities.

Blu Bold N1 Specifications and Features

The Bold N1 features a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. It misses out on a notch or punch-hole selfie camera but gets an in-display fingerprint scanner. Earlier this year, Vivo had introduced S-series of smartphones in China by launching Vivo S1 and Vivo S1 Pro handsets. Recent reports have claimed that the Chinese firm is gearing up to introduce the S-series handsets in India to target the offline markets. A teaser of the Vivo S1 smartphone has been leaked by 91mobiles. It reveals that the handset will be equipped with triple rear cameras. The leaked poster also states that the Vivo S1 will be “coming soon” to India.

The Vivo V15 that was launched earlier this year in India is available with Vivo S1 moniker. Hence, the Vivo S1 is equipped with a triple camera setup on its rear, a pop-up selfie camera and a notch-less display. There is a slight difference in the design of the rear-mounted triple camera setup of the Indian variant shown in the leaked teaser as compared to the Chinese version.

OPPO had launched the OPPO A9x mid-range phone in China in May. It had arrived as a higher version of the OPPO A9 smartphone. The A9x had arrived with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. The listing of the smartphone on the database of China’s TENAA telecom authority has been updated with a new 8 GB of RAM variant. Hence, there is a possibility that OPPO may soon debut an 8 GB RAM edition of the OPPO A9x smartphone.

The above screenshot shows that new 8 GB RAM edition of the OPPO A9x will feature 128 GB of native storage. The rest of its specifications will be same as its 6 GB RAM edition.

OPPO A9x Specifications

The OPPO A9x has a full HD+ 6.53-inch IPS LCD display with waterdrop notch. The Helio P70 chipset is present under the hood of the device. The Color OS 6.0 based Android 9 Pie OS runs on the device.

The rear side of the phone has 48-megapixel + 5-megapixel dual camera setup. For catching selfies, it has a front-facing camera of 16-megapixel. It is backed by a 4,020mAh battery that carries support for 20W VOOC fast charging. The smartphone features a rear-mounted fingerprint reader. The smartphone is available in two colors like Meteorite Black and Ice Jade White and it is priced at 1,999 Yuan (~$290).

Compared to the OPPO A9x, the OPPO A9 smartphone that was made official in April this year came with a 16-megapixel + 5-megapixel dual camera setup. It featured\ 4 GB / 6 GB of RAM.  Also, the handset lacked support for fast charging. The other specs of the A9 are identical with A9x.

Taiwanese fabless chipmaker MediaTek has announced a new chipset dubbed Helio P65. The new chipset is very similar to the Helio P70 but isn’t a very big upgrade over either the P70 or the older Helio P60. However, the chipset comes with faster CPU cores as well as an improved Neural processing unit (NPU).

In terms of its architecture, the MediaTek Helio P65 Systems-on-Chip (SoC) has a CPU with two ARM Cortex-A75 cores and six Cortex-A55 cores in an octa-core arrangement.

In comparison, the Helio P60 and P70 both feature four Cortex-A73 and four Cortex-A53. Details released by ARM shows that the Cortex-A75 is about 22% faster than the A73. On the other hand, Cortex-A55 is also about 18% faster than the A53. Thus, the new chipset is expected to output a higher single-threaded performance than its predecessors. We don’t expect the same improvement on the multi-core performance where it may likely perform less than Helio P60/P70 due to the difference in the proportion of bug and small cores.

The new Helio P65 doesn’t have the dressing of an upper mid-range chipset but at best one for low-end mid-range or budget models as can be seen other features. The SoC uses the Mali-G52 GPU instead of the more powerful Mali-G72 found on the P70. The chipset also comes with support for 1GB LPDDR4X RAM and can only connect with eMMc 5.1 storage and not the faster UFS 2.1 flash storage.

In addition, the Helio P65 supports up to a 48MP single camera sensor and a maximum of 16MP+16MP dual camera setup. You can also get bokeh shots with a single or dual camera and it also comes with Multi-Frame Noise Reduction. MediaTek also says the P65 is twice as fast as the previous mainstream Helio chipset in NPU. The chipset is also said to be 30% faster than what’s in the “direct competitor” chipset.

For video encoding, the chipset supports H.265 format and has Electronic Image Stabilization and Rolling Shutter compensation (RSC). The chipset only supports recording up to 1080p/60 videos as there is no support for 4K video recording. There is also a more secure  ISP promises fast camera-based face unlock.

MediaTek didn’t reveal any detail on the new chipset’s manufacturing process. However, we can take a cue from the Helio P60, P70 and P90 to guess that the chipset is built on TSMC’s 12nm FinFET nod.

In April, OPPO had launched the OPPO A9 smartphone in China. Now, a new phone called the OPPO A9x with slightly upgraded specs has appeared on OPPO China’s online store with key specs. The OPPO A9x borrows most of its specs from the OPPO A9 model. It features a 6.53-inch IPS LCD display with waterdrop notch that offers full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 5. With slim bezels surrounding, the phone promises a screen space of 90.7 percent. The MediaTek Helio P70 chipset that includes an octa-core processor that works at 2.1 GHz.

The smartphone will feature a 4,020mAh battery that carries support for 20W VOOC 3.0 Flash Charge technology. The ColorOS 6 flavored Android 9 Pie OS will come preloaded on the device. The GameBoost 2.0 technology enhances the gaming experience on the device.

OPPO has a new PCEM00 / PCET00 smartphone certified by the TENAA telecom authority in China. The entire specifications and images of the phone matches with the Oppo F11 smartphone that was unveiled in the previous month in some Asian markets. The PCEM00 / PCET00 smartphone could be arriving with a different moniker in China.

OPPO PCEM00 / PCET00 Design

The OPPO PCEM00 / PCET00 smartphone is equipped with a waterdrop-like notch display that promises a high screen-to-body ratio. The bezels surrounding the screen are not clearly visible in the TENAA images of PCEM00 / PCET00 phone.

The rear shell of the smartphone seems to be of polycarbonate material. The top half of the rear panel has a vertical dual camera setup. Below it is the dual-tone LED flash and a fingerprint reader. The TENAA listing reveals that it will be only coming in a single color of Black in China. The smartphone measures 162 x 76.1 x 8.3mm and it weighs 190 grams.

OPPO PCEM00 / PCET00 Specifications

The PCEM00 / PCET00 smartphone sports a big display of 6.5 inches that delivers full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The handset includes a 3,910mAh battery. The Chinese authority has only mentioned the minimum capacity of the battery. The Oppo F11 has a 4,020mAh typical capacity battery.

The OPPO PCEM00 / PCET00 is fueled by 2.1 GHz octa-core processor. Considering the fact that it is Oppo F11 for China, the handset could be featuring the Helio P70 SoC. It features 6 GB of RAM and an internal storage of 128 GB. There is a microSD card on the device for extra storage.

The smartphone is loaded with Android 9 Pie OS and it could be arriving the latest ColorOS 6.0 UI. Its dual camera setup will feature a 48-megapixel main sensor that will be coupled with a depth sensor of 5-megapixel. The small notch on the frontside of the phone houses a 16-megapixel selfie shooter.

Vivo S1, the first phone in S-series of smartphones by Vivo was announced in the previous week in China. The new smartphone is now available for purchase in the home market. It is budget-friendly phone that comes with a notch-less display and triple rear cameras.

The Vivo S1 has arrived in two color variants in China such as Pink and Ice Lake Blue. The handset carries a price tag of 2,298 Yuan (~$305). Customers who purchase the device before April 6 will be provided with Bluetooth earbuds worth 159 Yuan for free.

In terms of specifications, the Vivo S1 does not differ much from the Vivo V15 phone that was unveiled in certain markets including India. The configurations for the main camera sensor and selfie snapper are the only major differences between the two phones. Also, the Vivo S1 features a negligibly small battery than the Vivo V15 phone.

The OPPO Reno was initially reported to come in two main variants – a Snapdragon 710 version and a Snapdragon 855 version. However, a trademark application filed at the European Union Intellectual Property Office a few weeks ago revealed the Reno will have five versions. One of them is the Reno Lite which has now been spotted on TENAA, complete with full specs.

The Reno Lite with model numbers PCAT10 and PCAM10 has a 6.5-inch display with a 1080 x 2340 resolution. It is powered by a 2.1GHz octa-core processor said to be MediaTek’s Helio P70 chipset. The PCAM10 version has 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage while the PCAT10 version will come in 4GB and 6GB variants with 128GB of storage. There is support for storage expansion (256GB max.).

There are three cameras in total on the device – dual 16MP + 2MP sensors on the rear and another 16MP selfie camera. There are no images yet, so we can’t confirm if it is a pop-up selfie camera like that of its siblings.

TENAA says the phone has a fingerprint scanner but since there are no images, we don’t know its position. Anyway, since this is a lite version, we expect a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.

The Reno Lite has a 3,910mAh battery and runs Android 9 Pie. It measures 162 x 76.1 x 8.3 millimeters, weighs 190 grams and will be available in black. Once TENAA updates the listing with images, we will update the post.

Yesterday, the Snapdragon 710 version of the phone was seen on TENAA too. It has a slightly smaller AMOLED display and a smaller battery compared to the Reno Lite.

On March 19, Vivo had announced the Vivo X27 and X27 Pro smartphones. The Chinese manufacturer was also rumored to debut the Vivo S1 as its first S-series phone during the unveil event of the X27 series. However, the Vivo S1 wasn’t unveiled. The Vivo S1 is now listed on the official website of Vivo China. The smartphone is up for reservations and it will be available for buying starting from April 1.

Vivo S1 Specifications and Features

The Vivo S1 that has a model number of Vivo 1831A/T measures 161.97 x 75.93 x 8.54mm and it weighs 189.5 grams. The smartphone is equipped with a notch-less 6.53-inch IPS LCD panel that produces full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. The S1 offers a screen-to-body ratio of 90.95 percent and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9.

The MediaTek Helio P70 drives the phone with 6 GB of RAM. It features an inbuilt storage of 128 GB. For additional storage, it offers users with a microSD card slot. The FunTouch OS 9 based Android 9 Pie OS comes loaded on the device. There is an independent AI button for summoning the Jovi voice assistant. The Vivo S1 features a pop-up selfie camera of 24.8-megapixel. Placed on the rear side of the smartphone is a triple camera setup that includes an f/1.7 aperture 12-megapixel main sensor, an f/2.2 aperture wide-angle lens of 8-megapixel and an f/2.4 aperture 5-megapixel depth sensor. The AI face beauty function of the Vivo S1 can identity 103 basic facial features for capturing selfie shots. There is a Body Camera feature onboard that can automatically adjust the body proportions while shooting photos and videos.

The rear shell of the Vivo S1 is fitted with a fingerprint sensor. It is packed with other features such as 4G VoLTE, dual-SIM support, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth, microUSB 2.0, GPS and 3.5mm audio jack.

The Vivo S1 is nothing but a rebranded edition version of the Vivo V15 smartphone for China. Except for some differences in the camera configurations, both phones are packed with the same specifications. Instead of 24.8-megapixel front camera on the Vivo S1, the Vivo V15 is equipped with a selfie camera of 32-megapixel. Also, the triple camera setup of the V15 features 24-megapixel primary sensor instead of 12-megapixel camera found on the S1.

ZTE had announce the Snapdragon 855 powered 5G-ready Axon 10 Pro 5G smartphone at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) tech expo that was held at the end of the previous month in Barcelona, Spain. The Chinese manufacturer had also unveiled the Blade V10 mid-range smartphone alongside the Axon 10 Pro 5G. While there is no fresh information available on the release date of the Axon 10 Pro 5G, the Chinese manufacturer has confirmed the pricing and release date of the Blade V10. The new mid-ranger from ZTE is now available on pre-orders in the home market.

ZTE Blade V10 Price and Variants

The ZTE Blade V10 has arrived in China in two models such as 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage and 4 GB RAM + 128 GB storage. The 64 GB and 128 GB variants of the Blade V10 are respectively priced at 1,199 Yuan (~$178) and 1,499 Yuan (~$223). The pre-orders of the phone will run until March 17 and its shipments will begin on March 18. The handset can be pre-ordered through the official ZTE Mall online store. After the appearance of Vivo V1831A/T on TENAA, some reports had claimed that it may launch as Vivo Z5. However, multiple leaksters are now expecting to launch as Vivo S1. The V15’s display offers an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and a screen-to-body ratio of 91.64 percent.

The Helio P70 chipset powers the V15 along with 6 GB of RAM. The native storage of the smartphone is 128 GB. For additional storage, the smartphone comes with a dedicated microSD card slot.

Since the Vivo V15 has a notch-less display, it comes with a pop-out selfie shooter of 32-megapixel. OPPO F11 Pro will be announced later today through an unveil event in India. There are couple of attractive features on the device such as notch-less screen, pop-out selfie camera and gradient colored rear shell. A leaked hands-on video of the phone is now doing rounds on social sites. It reveals the rear appeal of the Thunder Black and Aurora Green edition of the F11 Pro.

The gradient switch on the OPPO F11 Pro color variants happen sideways unlike vertical manner found in recent phones. The Black Thunder model is blackish purple on the left and violet on the right whereas the Aurora Green appears green on the left and blue on the right. It is yet to be confirmed whether it features a glass rear or a glossy plastic back panel.

Realme has introduced the Realme 3 smartphone through an unveil event in India. The handset has arrived as a successor for the Realme 2 phone that was unveiled last year.  It comes with a color gradient design, a waterdrop-style notch, a powerful processor and a big battery.

Realme 3 Specifications and Features

The Realme 3 features a 6.2-inch Dewdrop display that carries support for HD+ resolution of 720 x 1520 pixels. It offers an aspect ratio of 19:9 and 450nits of brightness. The display is shielded by Gorilla Glass 3. The smartphone boasts a splash-resistant body with a gradient color rear panel. It can be availed in Dynamic Black and Radiant Blue.

The Helio P70 processor drives the smartphone along with 3 GB and 4 GB of RAM. There are two storage variants such as 32 GB and 64 GB. The smartphone includes a 4,230mAh battery. The ColorOS 6.0 based Android 9 Pie OS comes loaded on the device. There is a microSD card slot for additional storage.

Realme 3 Price and Release Date

OPPO has scheduled a launch event on March 5 in Mumbai, India through which it will be unveiling the OPPO F11 Pro. It will be arriving as a successor for the OPPO F9 Pro smartphone from 2018. Well ahead of its launch, the full specifications of the OPPO F11 Pro smartphone have been revealed.

OPPO F11 Pro Specifications

The OPPO F11 Pro features a notch-less display like the Vivo V15 Pro smartphone that was recently announced in India. Instead of OLED panel found on the Vivo phone, the F11 Pro is fitted with a LTPS LCD screen of 6.5 inches. It carries support for full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. The handset carries offers a screen-to-body ratio of 90.9 percent.

The MediaTek Helio P70 that powers the upcoming Realme 3 will be also present under the hood of the F11 Pro. The smartphone is expected to arrive in two models such as 64 GB and 128 GB. Both variants are expected to feature 6 GB of RAM.

Another F11 Pro feature that resembles with the Vivo V15 Pro is the presence of a pop-up selfie camera. Leaked information reveals that the smartphone will be coming with 16-megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture. Last year, ZTE had announced the Blade V9 and Blade V9 Vita smartphones at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018. Hence, there is a possibility that the Blade V10 will go official at MWC 2019 in the coming month. A new smartphone with model number ZTE V1000 that is believed to be the Blade V10 smartphone has appeared with entire specifications and images on TENAA.

The ZTE V1000 smartphone images that have appeared on TENAA suggests it is equipped with a glass rear. The frontside of the phone seems to feature a waterdrop-style notched screen. Its rear side is fitted with a vertical dual camera setup at the top-left corner. A fingerprint scanner and ZTE logo are placed on the top-half of the rear shell of the device.

ZTE Blade V10 Specifications

The Blade V10 measures 158 x 75.8 x 7.5mm and weighs 154 grams. It is fitted with a 6.3-inch IPS LCD display that produces full HD+ resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels. The handset draws power from a 3,100mAh battery.

The smartphone is powered by an octa-core processor which includes fours cores that work at 2.1 GHz and another for cores that clock at 2.0 GHz. Probably, it could be fueled by the MediaTek Helio P70 chipset that includes four cores of 2.1 GHz Cortex A73 and four cores of 2.0 GHz Cortex A53.

The 64 GB variant of the Blade V10 will include 4 GB of RAM whereas its 128 GB edition will come with 6 GB of RAM. It will feature a microSD card slot for additional storage. MediaTek has announced the Helio P90 (MT6779V) chipset through a launch event in Beijing, China. It is a 12nm SoC that comes with better CPU and GPU than the Helio P70 that was made official in the recent past. It has been designed to offer flagship performance in mid-range devices. The biggest improvement that has arrived on the Helio P90 is in the artificial intelligence department. Compared to Helio P70 and Helio P60 chipsets, the Helio P90 can deliver four times better AI performance.

The 12nm MediaTek Helio P90 is an octa-core processor. It includes a pair of ARM Cortex A75 CPUs that work at 2.2 GHz and six ARM Cortex A55 CPUs that function at 2.0 GHz. It relies on PowerVR GM 9946 GPU for graphics.

The Helio P90 powered devices can support up to 8 GB of LPDDRX RAM and UFS 2.1 storage. Phones featuring it can support 48-megapixel camera or 24-megapixel + 16-megapixel dual camera setup.  It supports a maximum display resolution of 2520 x 1080 pixels (full HD+) with an aspect ratio of 21:9.

MediaTek has included APU 2.0 inside the Helio P90 for handling AI tasks. The AI Fusion architecture can intelligently allocate AI tasks to the APU AI Accelerator or to the triple Image Processing Unit (IPU) which allows the phones fueled by Helio P90 to outperform other phones in the mid-range category.

The APU can recognize the type of content that is being displayed on the screen such as movies, sports or games and optimize the display performance accordingly. The APU also brings real-time AI driven stabilization in a video call. The benchmark tests carried out by the company revealed that the AI performance of the Helio P90 is better than Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 and slightly lower than the newer 7nm Snapdragon 855 mobile platform.

The connectivity features supported by Helio P90 include Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, Galileo and FM Radio. It carries support for 4G Cat. 12 / 13 LTE modem, dual 4G VoLTE, ViLTE, 4×4 MIMO and 3CA.

At the launch event, MediaTek confirmed that the Helio P90 chipset is already reached devices makers and the first devices running on it are likely to hit the market in Q1 2019. Taiwan-based MediaTek is not a known brand in Western market, but many of the Asian smartphone makers have been using it to power low-priced Android handsets. The Helio P70 powers the Realme U1 smartphone and Helio P60 is present under the hood of OPPO F9, OPPO R15, Nokia 5.1 Plus, Realme 1, Vivo X21i and so on.

Details of the Helio P80 chipset includes that the it will be built on the same process as TSMC’s 12nm process but the architecture will be upgraded and the AI performance will be greatly improved. There are speculations that the AI performance is even stronger than Huawei ‘s Kirin 980 processor despite being a midrange chip. This was further buttressed by the AI benchmark results which placed Helio P80 and Snapdragon 8150 above the Kirin 980. In addition, the Helio P80 processor is tipped to be used on OPPO’s R19 billed to launch next year.

A report by Taiwan Business Times hinted that MediaTek’s Helio P60 was successfully used on the OPPO R15 in the first half of last year but the R17 series, released in the second half, abandoned MediaTek’s chipset. This has forced MediaTek to strengthen the processor performance in order to get sufficient orders for OPPO R19 in the first half of next year. Sources from the Taiwanese supply chain disclosed that the Helio P80 will be MediaTek’s main product for the first half of 2019 and will use ARM’s Octa-core architecture just like the P60/P70. The CPU/GPU architecture may be upgraded since only an improved AI capability won’t be enough to curry enough patronage especially when Qualcomm and Huawei processors are built on the faster 10nm process.

Realme is all set announce the Realme U1 selfie-centric smartphone on Nov. 28. It will be arriving as the world’s first smartphone powered by MediaTek Helio P70 chipset. At the recently held Exhibit Tech Awards 2018 event in Mumbai, India, Madhav Sheth who is the CEO of Realme was spotted with the alleged Realme U1 smartphone.

Sheth was spotted using a mysterious gold colored Realme phone for snapping a selfie. The rear shell of the mysterious phone seems to be made out of glass. The handset is equipped with a horizontal dual camera module. The back panel of the mysterious also features a fingerprint scanner. The rear appearance of the phone is not very different from the Realme 2 Pro smartphone.

The Realme 1 that was unveiled earlier this year is equipped with a single rear camera. The Realme 2, Realme 2 Pro and Realme C1 are all equipped with dual rear cameras. However, these phones are not in gold color. Hence, it is speculated that it could be the selfie focused Realme U1 smartphone.

The Realme U1 is expected to arrive with a waterdrop notch screen. The selfie image in below tweet might have been shot using the same phone. If it is true, the phone could be equipped with a wide-angle lens for capturing high quality wider selfies.

Rumors have it that it may feature a 6.3-inch FHD+ display like the Realme 2 Pro. The Helio P70 SoC of the Realme U1 could be assisted by 4 GB of RAM. it could be packed with a 4,230mAh battery. The handset is likely to be priced between Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 15,000. The launch event of the Realme U1 will begin at 12:30 PM on Nov. 28 in India. The handset will be available for buying exclusively through Amazon India.
