Honor is giving away gift packages to its customers that link games and other popular applications to its proprietary AppGallery. In this promotional attempt, the Chinese tech giant is offering gifts worth up to 120 US Dollars.

The deal benefits the most for the Honor 9A and Honor 9X Pro users but it can be availed by its other customers as well. In the gift package, users receive three games, namely Lords Mobile, Rise of Kingdoms, and AFK Arena. In Lords Mobile, users can receive offers worth up to 80 US Dollars that include, boosts, points, and other in game items; out of this package, 30 US Dollars worth can be claimed by all AppGallery users but Honor 9A and Honor 9X Pro receive an additional 50 US Dollars worth of gits.

Similarly, Rise of Kingdoms and AFK Arena are also offering in game currencies in the form of gems and golds that are equivalent to real life 20 US Dollars. These can be redeemed through the Settings menu in game. Notably, every game has a maximum of only 100,000 gift packages. So for those interested, it is advised to hurry up and claim the reward before the offer gets completely claimed.

Furthermore, Honor has also partnered with Merriam-Webster Dictionary to bring a free one year subscription for its premium package. The package is worth 1.99 US Dollars and an be claimed through Gifts. Although, it is region limited and those that have an active subscription cannot apply for another. The company is giving out 250,000 of these gift packages that must be redeemed before 31st October 2020.

Earlier today, Honor finally announced the Honor X10 in China after days of leaks and teasers. At the launch event, the brand’s president George Zhao aka Zhao Ming revealed that the company has so far sold over 80 million Honor X series phones worldwide.

Honor has been selling Honor X series of smartphone from late 2013. The first phone in the series was Honor 3X, a rebranded Huawei Ascend G750. It has been later followed by newer models every year since then. We even got to see some Pro and Max versions along the way.

The Honor X10 launched today is the first 5G model in the series. Thus, at the beginning of the keynote, Mr Zhao recalled the series as a whole. He pointed out that they have sold over 80 million Honor X series phones worldwide since its inception.

We feel the count could have been more if the brand had launched Honor 9X series globally since this series alone shipped 10 million units in China. The original Honor 9X Pro did launch in India recently but without GMS (Google Mobile Services), it will be a tough sell in the country.

On the other hand, Huawei US ban has been further extended for a year along with restrictions to chip supplies. This will impact the Chinese telecom giant including its Honor sub-brand severely. 

The sales of Huawei / Honor smartphones worldwide are expected to go down rather improve going by the current situation.

The Honor 9X Pro has just been officially launched in India. The smartphone is the first handset that has been released in the Southeast Asian country without Google Mobile services and features Huawei‘s proprietary AppGallery.

Earlier this year, the Chinese company had launched its Honor 9X and now we finally have the 9X Pro being launched. It features a 6.59 inch FHD+ LCD display with a high screen to body ratio of 92 percent. The device is powered by HiSilicon’s 7nm Kirin 810 SoC alongside the ARM Mali-G52 MP6 GPU. Honor 9X Pro also features the new GPU Turbo 3.0 along with liquid cooling technology for better thermals during mobile gaming.

Honor has equipped with the smartphones to run the vanilla Android OS, skipping over Google services. This move arrives after Huawei was banned by the US government from partnering with American based firms. While many models from the Chinese tech giant are already available without Google services in Europe, this is the first from Honor to launch with Huawei’s AppGallery in India. The AppGallery is Huawei’s version of the Play Store and is a part of the Huawei Mobile Services ecosystem.

In terms of memory, the Honor 9X Pro houses 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.1 storage. It also packs a large 4,000mAh battery pack that can be charged via a USB Type C port. For optics, the device features a triple camera setup with the primary sensor being a 48 megapixel Sony IMX582 shooter. Furthermore, an 8 megapixel super wide angle lens and a 2 megapixel depth sensor can also be found on the rear.

Arriving at the front, the smartphone has a full screen body and Honor has opted for a 16 megapixel popup camera for selfies. It also supports Dual SIM, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5.0, and even a 3.5mm headphones jack. Honor is currently taking registrations for the 9X Pro, which will allow registered users to participate in an early bird sale. This sale will have the handset be available for a lowered price f 14,999 INR (roughly 198 US Dollars) over its actual 17,999 INR price tag (roughly 238 US Dollars).

Huawei’s Honor brand took the wraps off the Honor 9X Pro smartphone for the global market in February this year. The company is now likely ready to unveil the smartphone in India three months after.

A tweet by Honor India had teased the impending launch of a product powered by a Kirin 810 chipset. However, the company is reported to have accidentally posted the name in a tweet that has since been deleted. The company is yet to announce the launch date but a report by IANS points to a May 12 launch and sales on Flipkart.

The Honor 9X Pro features a 6.59-inch IPS LCD display, along with 19.5:9 aspect ratio and Full HD+ screen resolution. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by the company’s own Kirin 810 octa-core chipset. It equally comes with up to 8GB RAM and maximum storage of 256GB (UFS 2.1). The smartphone packs an impressive 4,000mAh battery.

The Honor 9X Pro starts at 249 Euros for the 6GB RAM + 256GB storage model. The model is said to be priced between Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 20,000 in India and will come pre-loaded with Huawei AppGallery instead of Google Play Services and Play Store.

Further, the Honor 9X Pro exists in a configuration that offers more internal storage than its two rivals: 256 GB. Honor 9X Pro has a shared micro SD slot, while Redmi Note 9 Pro and Realme 6 Pro come with a dedicated micro SD slot. Realme 6 Pro and Note 9 Pro run Android 10 out of the box, while Honor 9X Pro is based on Android 9 Pie since it is an older device. Unlike many other last-generation phones launched by Huawei, the Honor 9X Pro has Google services installed.

Camera

Realme 6 Pro wins the camera comparison mainly because of its better secondary sensor. It sports the same 64 MP main sensor as the Redmi Note 9 Pro, but unlike the affordable phone launched by Xiaomi’s sub-brand, it has a 12 MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom. There is also an ultrawide 8 MP sensor and a 2 MP macro camera. The Realme 6 Pro is superior even when it comes to front cameras: in its dual punch-hole, it has a dual selfie camera including an ultrawide sensor. The silver medal goes to the Note 9 Pro that offers a 64 MP quad-camera which can record 4K videos at 30 fps just like the Realme 6 Pro.

Battery

Redmi Note 9 Pro is the best battery phone thanks to a huge 5020 mAh battery which should allow 2 days of battery life even with intensive usage. Realme 6 Pro and Honor 9X Pro are more or less at the same level when it comes to battery life. Despite Honor 9X Pro comes with lower battery capacity, it has more efficient components than Realme 6 Pro; indeed, its SoC is built at 7 nm and its display has a standard refresh rate.

Price

We still do not know how much Redmi Note 9 Pro will cost globally, but we know that Redmi Note 9S begins at €229/$247. You can actually find the Honor 9X Pro for €249/$269 (6/256 GB), while Realme 6 Pro costs €349/$377 in its 8/128 GB configuration. While Note 9 Pro (probably) and Honor 9X Pro have a definitely higher value for money, Realme 6 Pro is the most advanced device of this comparison thanks to its better camera department and display. However, note that Note 9 Pro offers a bigger battery, while Honor 9X Pro offers very nice hardware and a premium design.

The Honor 9X and the Honor 9X Pro launched in July 2019 were the world’s first smartphones to be powered by HiSilicon Kirin 810 SoC. This duo has now successfully sold over 10 million units in China according to a Weibo post by Guan Haitao, the vice president of marketing at Honor.

The Honor 9X series sold over 3 million units just within 29 days of its launch in China. However, it took about 8 months to reach 10 million units, thanks to intense competition from competitors as well as newer devices from Honor and its parent company Huawei.

Still, it’s a great accomplishment by the brand to sell such a huge number of units of a single series in a sea of smartphones launching every other week. This count could have been even larger if the original Honor 9X and Honor 9X Pro ever saw a launch in international markets.

As for the brand, it is also celebrating the success of the HiSilicon Kirin 810 chipset as it debuted on these smartphones.  This chip was recently succeeded by HiSilion Kirin 820 5G. As the name suggests, it features an integrated 5G modem and powers the brand new Honor 30S. The upcoming Huawei Nova 7 SE is also expected to feature this new 7nm 5G chipset.

AnTuTu recently released the top 10 most-powerful flagship models that have run through the benchmark app in March. The benchmark outfit equally released the top 10 most powerful mid-range models for March 2020. The top 10 most-powerful mid-range models are powered by just five mid-range SoCs, with the Kirin 810 chipset having the widest spread.

The star of the moment still remains the MediaTek Dimensity 1000L SoC powering the OPPO Reno3 5G. The processor maintained its lead of this category with an average score of 407340 points. That is a wide gap between the Reno3 5G and the Exynos 980-powered Vivo X30 5G in the second spot. The gap between the first and second-ranked model is more than 80,000 points, showing the prowess of the Dimensity 1000L. The Reno3 5G was launched in December 2019 and has stayed consecutively atop AnTuTu’s midrange chart since January, thanks to the MediaTek SoC.

The Dimensity 1000L is built with a 7nm process and uses the Cortex-A77 architecture in an octa-core arrangement. The GPU uses the G77 architecture and the SoC also comes with built-in 5G baseband. The chipset equally supports NSA / SA dual-mode 5G.

The Redmi K30 5G packing a Snapdragon 765G processor maintained the third position. OPPO’s latest Reno3 Pro 5G enters at the fourth spot. The four models are the only 5G model in the top 10 midrange chart.

Huawei’s Hisilicon Kirin 810 chipset propelled five different Huawei and Honor models into the list. The phones include the Honor 9X Pro, Huawei Nova 6 SE, Honor 9X, Honor 20S and the Huawei Nova 5i, all occupying the fifth to ninth spots in that order.

Another MediaTek chipset, the Helio G90T makes the cut onboard the Redmi Note 8 Pro and with an average score of 289257 points.

With the launch of several models powered by the Snapdragon 765G, we expect the list to change pretty soon but the Dimensity 1000L’s dominance doesn’t seem to have any contender. However, the top 10 mid-range chart may soon be dominated by 5G phones in the coming months considering the rising number of 5G mid-range phones that are being released in quick succession.

Huawei’s Honor brand didn’t leave out its phone products from the launch despite the US sanctions that have made it impossible to include Google services on the models. The company took the wraps off two amazing models for its international audience- the Honor View 30 Pro and Honor 9X Pro.

The Honor View 30 Pro is the same as the Honor V30 Pro launched in China. A flagship model it is, powered by a Kirin 990 chipset with a Balong 5000 modem for 5G. The phone comes with 8GB of RAM as well as 128GB and 256GB storage options. The View 30 Pro equally has a 4100mAh battery with 40W wired fast charging support and wireless charging support.

In terms of design, the Honor V30 Pro 5G utilises a punch-hole display on its 6.57-inch IPS LCD display with full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixel and 20:9 aspect ratio. We had thought Huawei would shift to an LED punch-hole design on this model that disappointingly didn’t happen. The elliptical shaped cutout houses two selfie cameras. The cutout ensures the bezels at the top is trimmed down giving it a 91.46% screen ratio.

At the back, the View 30 Pro packs a triple camera setup arranged vertically inside a rather wide module. The module equally holds the LED flash. Since the device comes with wireless charging, the V30 Pro uses a glass back panel. The flagship model packs a side-mounted fingerprint sensor found embedded in the power button on the right edge. 

HONOR 9X PRO; SPECIFICATIONS, PRICING & AVAILABILITY

On the other hand, the Honor 9X Pro features a 6.59-inch IPS LCD display, along with 19.5:9 aspect ratio and Full HD+ screen resolution. Honor as well as its parent company, Huawei will both hold an online event on February 24. It has now been revealed that Honor’s event which is called the All-Scenario Intelligence Conference will also double as the global launch of the Honor 9X Pro.

According to Android Authority, Honor stated in a press release sent to them that the Honor 9X Pro will be its “first HMS-based smartphone”. HMS is short for Huawei Mobile Services and is the solution Huawei came up with as an alternative to Google Mobile Services (GMS). This info nullifies the earlier report that the Honor View 30 will be the first HMS-based smartphone.

The Honor 9X was already announced in China more than six months ago but it will just be getting a global launch. The phone has a Kirin 810 processor which is more powerful than the Kirin 710/Kirin 710F found in the global version of the Honor 9X.

The press release also revealed that Honor will also announce new MagicBook laptops. These should be the Honor MagicBook 14 and MagicBook 15 that launched in China last November. It remains to be seen if Honor will launch the Intel version or Ryzen version or both.

The Honor 9X Pro has a 6.59-inch 1080 x 2340 display. It comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of expandable storage. There is a 16MP motorized pop-up selfie camera and a 48MP + 8MP + 2MP triple camera setup on the back. Honor has included a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and ships it with a 4000mAh battery and Android 9 Pie.

Android 10 has been out for a couple of months at this point. Apart from Google, some phone makers have been able to offer the update relatively quickly. Honor have been making a decent effort to push updates faster, and now they’re looking for Honor 9X Pro and Honor 9X users to beta test EMUI 10 based on Android 10.

The company is looking for 500 users of the log version and 1500 users of the non-log version of its beta program. You can sign up via this link right over here. The signup deadline is on December 15, and users are required to run EMUI 9.1.1.160 or above to be eligible for the EMUI 10 beta program.

Xiaomi just launched a new variant of the Redmi Note 8 Pro which differs from the others for its memory configuration. The handset finally comes with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage, that is a very important configuration for a device known for being an “affordable gaming phone”. But is this new memory configuration enough to make the smartphone more interesting than the latest mid-rangers from the other brands? Design

If we consider the aesthetics, the Redmi Note 8 Pro does not shine for its originality. It has a rear-mounted fingerprint reader, a classic waterdrop display and nothing you can’t already find on a lot of midrange devices. A very interesting device when it comes to the design is the Honor 9X Pro, which comes with a notch-less display thanks to a motorized pop-up selfie camera. The fingerprint reader is side-mounted, so the rear side is clean and minimal, besides being very suggestive. Even the Vivo S1 Pro is very original with its diamond-shaped camera module on the back, and it even sports an in-display fingerprint reader.

Display

In this trio, Vivo S1 Pro is the only smartphone to boast a Super AMOLED display. Super AMOLED panels are the trending ones because they offer more brilliant colors alongside deeper blacks. But this does not mean that Redmi Note 8 Pro and Honor 9X Pro (equipped with IPS panels) are disappointing. The former comes with very high brightness and even the support to HDR technology, so it still offers a pretty nice image quality. Even the Honor 9X Pro is cool with its LTPS technology, but I would personally prefer the Super AMOLED colors of the Vivo S1 Pro and its in-display fingerprint reader.

Specs & Software

As said above, Redmi Note 8 Pro is considered an affordable gaming phone. People call it so because it boasts a very powerful chipset with high CPU and GPU performance: the Helio G90T by Mediatek. It is not at the same level as flagship chipsets such as the Snapdragon 855, but it still delivers very high speed and smoothness. So it takes the first place. Right after, there is Kirin 810 built at 7 nm, with high performance and very low energy consumption. Despite it is a Qualcomm chipset and Qualcomm chipsets are the most trending ones, the Snapdragon 665 is actually inferior to both Helio G90T and Kirin 810 when it comes to performance.

Camera

In each case, we are talking about midrange-class camera phones. All come with multiple cameras on the back, but the most convincing one is the Redmi Note 8 Pro with its 64 MP quad camera. However, Vivo S1 Pro is better at taking selfies with its 32 MP front snapper. Honor 9X Pro is the only which lacks a dedicated macro camera and comes with a triple rear camera.

Battery

Vivo S1 Pro and Redmi Note 8 Pro have a bigger 4500 mAh battery. Unfortunately, we still had no chance to test the battery life of the Vivo S1 Pro, but given the AMOLED display and a more efficient chipset than Redmi Note 8 Pro, it might surprise you.

Price

In the Chinese market, Redmi Note 8 Pro starts from about €180/$200, Vivo S1 Pro costs about €290/$320, and Honor 9X Pro starts from €271/$300. Overall, considering the actual price and specifications, I define the Redmi Note 8 Pro a smartphone with a higher value for money thanks to its great cameras, amazing hardware and very affordable price.

AnTuTu benchmarking platform is known for releasing the list of best performing smartphones each month. Now, it has released the list of top 10 best performing flagship and mid-range phones. The flagship list is led by the Vivo NEX 3 5G whereas the Honor 9X Pro is ruling the mid-range list.

In the above shown list of top 10 best performing Android flagship phones, the Snapdragon 855+ powered Vivo NEX 3 5G with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage can be seen leading the chart with 482,917 points. Honor has just confirmed that the Honor 9X will arrive in Europe shortly. The smartphone launched in China back in July 2019. The Honor 9X is perhaps the last Google-supported device from the Chinese tech giants before the US Trade Ban took effect. The smartphone uses the Android OS and offers a full suite of Google’s interactive and support services. However, the breaking news is that the international model has some differences as compared to its Chinese version. The device is powered by a different processor and flaunts a 48-megapixel primary camera. The global variant of the Honor 9X borrows the specifications of the Chinese Honor 9X Pro but drops the ‘Pro’ badging.

Honor 9X (International Edition) Specifications and Features

The Honor 9X flaunts a 6.59-inch IPS LCD notch-less screen with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The device draws power from a Kirin 710F SoC instead of Kirin 810 and is available with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of native storage. Honor also plans to launch the 6GB + 128GB variant in certain markets. Both devices feature expandable storage up to 512GB with a microSD card.

The Honor 9X features a triple camera layout at the back. The primary unit is a 48-megapixel primary camera with an aperture rating of f/1.8. Although it can record videos at 1080 pixels, the AI video stabilization stops working beyond 720p. The second camera uses an 8-megapixel ultrawide sensor for a 120-degree field-of-view. The third lens is a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The front camera is a 16-megapixel pop-up unit.

The smartphone runs on the Android 9.0 Pie-based EMUI 9.1. The device supports the Google Play Store and Google Play Services. Connectivity options include dual-SIM 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth v5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, GPS and A-GPS. and supports face unlock. Honor offers the GPU Turbo 3.0 boost that promises to smooth out the 9X’s performance during gaming. The other change on the international variant is the presence of a rear-facing fingerprint scanner. The Chinese model has a side-mounted fingerprint reader.  

The Honor 9X features holographic X pattern that appears on the rear panel. The design moves around forming rhombic patterns as light is reflected off of its surface. Honor calls this change in color patterns their ‘halo gradient’. The Honor 9X international edition will be available in the existing color options, namely Sapphire Blue and Midnight Black. Expect the smartphone to be priced around 350 euros (~$388). Honor is yet to officially announce the pricing and launch date of the international edition.

In July, Honor had launched the Honor 9X and Honor 9X Pro smartphones in China. The Honor 9X series is now gradually making its way outside of China. In the home market, Honor has announced a price cut of 200 Yuan on Honor 9X Pro and a discount of 100 Yuan on Honor 9X.

The Honor 9X variants such as 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage respectively costed 1,899 Yuan (~$269) and 2,099 Yuan (~$297). With the 100 Yuan (~$14) price cut, these variants can be availed respective revised costs of 1,799 Yuan (~$255) and 1,999 Yuan (~$283).

The other variants of the Honor 9X such as 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage and 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage are respectively priced at 1,399 Yuan (~$198) and 1,599 Yuan (~$226). These models haven’t received a price cut.

The Honor 9X Pro with 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage that was priced at 2,399 Yuan (~$339) at launch is now available for 2,199 Yuan (~$311) after a discount of 200 Yuan (~$28).. The 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage which is the other variant continues to sell at 2,199 Yuan. Hence, both of the Honor 9X Pro are now available at same pricing in China. The new price cut could be a limited period offer.

Later in the same month, Honor India President Charles Peng had revealed that the company will be debuting a new X series phone as the successor for the Honor 8X phone from last year. However, the Honor 9X series haven’t yet arrived in India. Honor is now gearing up for its global launch. It will be coming to Russia tomorrow and Netherlands on Oct. 24. Fresh information reveals that the India launch of the Honor 9X is drawing near.

The exact launch date for the Honor 9X smartphone in India is not known yet. It appears that the company that the Honor 9X Pro may not debut in the country. Last year, the Honor 8X had launched in India on Oct. 16. Hence, there is a possibility that the Chinese manufacturer may officially announce the Honor 9X in the country by the end of this month.

The Honor 9X Pro is heading to Europe more than two months after it launched in China. However, when it does, there will be a major difference between the European version and the one sold in China.

According to Sudhanshu Ambhore (@Sudhanshu1414), press renders of the Honor 9X Pro heading to the Old Continent, show the phone has its fingerprint scanner on the back. Yes, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and not a side-mounted one like the Chinese variant.

As at the time of writing, we do not know why Honor is making this change. We also cannot say if this will be the same for the model launching in other markets such as India.

Other than the change in the position of the fingerprint scanner, we have not learned of any other differences. Based on that, the Honor 9X Pro should arrive in Europe with a 6.59-inch FHD+ display, a 16MP pop-up selfie camera, and a 48MP + 8MP + 2MP triple camera setup.

It should have the Kirin 810 processor with 8GB of RAM, though there is a chance it may get a 6GB RAM version too. Storage should also be 128GB or 256GB. Other features are a 4000mAh battery, Bluetooth 5.0, an audio jack, and EMUI 9.1 based on Android 9 Pie. The press renders show the phone will be available in Magic Night Black and Phantom Purple.

There is still no date for the launch but once we know, we will share it with you.

Honor, the sub-brand of Huawei, has today announced a new color variant for its Honor 9X series smartphones — Holographic Icelandic White. The company has also revealed that this new color option will go on sale in China from 1st October.

While the smartphone comes in a White color option, it shows different hues when viewed under a light source. The company has also confirmed that both the phones — Honor 9X and 9X Pro will come in Holographic Icelandic White color.

Coming to the specifications, both the models under Honor 9X series features a glass and metal combination chassis. With no notch onboard, the Pro model offers a full-screen experience through its 6.59-inch IPS LCD display, along with 19.5:9 aspect ratio and Full HD+ screen resolution.

Under the hood, the smartphones are powered by the company’s own Kirin 810 octa-core chipset. While the Pro comes with up to 8GB RAM and maximum storage of 256GB (UFS 2.1), the standard model has up to 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage.

Today, the company has announced that in just 29 days of the Honor 9X series smartphones getting launched, it has crossed the sales mark of three million units. The number of sales is the combination of both the devices — Honor 9X and Honor 9X Pro.

The Honor 9X series in China takes on the likes of Realme X and Redmi K20. As for the pricing, the 9X comes in three variants — 4GB + 64GB, 6GB + 64GB, and 6GB + 128GB, costing 1,399 Yuan (~$203), 1,599 Yuan (~$232), and 1,899 Yuan (~$276) respectively.

Chinese benchmark outfit Master Lu has released a list of the top-ranking phones that have been benchmarked on its app with the best fluidity in terms of the System user interface (UI). The ranking takes into consideration the system’s file copying speed, desktop slider response, web page loading time, boot loader, app response during usage, photo viewing experience and several user experiences. These parameters are used to verify the adaptability, optimization and fluidity of the mobile phone’s system UI.

The list shows that the top three most fluid smartphones in July are the Huawei Mate 20 X 5G, ASUS ROG Gaming Phone 2 and ZTE AXON 10 Pro 5G. Their scores are 146.41, 144.29 and 141.98 respectively. As a reminder, the Kirin 980 powers the Mate 20 X 5G while the ASUS ROG 2 is powered by a Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC and Snapdragon 855 for the Axon 10 5G.

Other models on the list include the Honor 9X Pro, Vivo iQOO Neo, Honor 9X, Huawei Nova 5i Pro, Lenovo Z6, Vivo Y7s, Xiaomi Mi CC9 Mito custom version, Xiaomi Mi CC9, Samsung Galaxy A80 and Xiaomi Mi CC9e.

Huawei just does not want to stop releasing affordable midrange smartphones this summer. After making the Honor 9X series official, the Chinese giant announced the Nova 5i Pro which is supposed to hit the global market as the Mate 30 Lite. The cute handset has a lot of internal rivals this year, so many devices that it is worth comparing the most valid ones in order to clear your ideas in case you are looking for a new Huawei handset. So, we decided to compare the Nova 5i Pro with the latest mid-ranger from Huawei’s sub-brand which carries a similar price tag: the Honor 9X Pro. But given that this should be the Mate 30 Lite, we also decided to include the P30 Lite in the comparison, as it makes sense to include both the Mate and the P series since they are the most important Huawei line-ups. Below you can read our findings and our opinion about them.

Huawei Nova 5i Pro vs Huawei Honor 9X Pro vs Huawei P30 Lite

Design

If you do not care about having the most compact dimensions, the perfect choice in terms of design is the Honor 9X Pro. There is really nothing better than its amazing pop-up camera and the attractive X pattern on its rear side, at least according to my tastes. Despite it comes with a punch-hole display, I do not like the Huawei Nova 5i Pro so much because of its anonymous rear side with a rear-mounted fingerprint reader. If you need a compact, thin and lightweight smartphone, then you should choose the Huawei P30 Lite as it is just 7.4 mm thin, it weighs just 159 grams and it is very small thanks to its 6.15-inch display.

Display

As I am usually a productivity user, I personally prefer wider displays, just like most of the users out there. That is why I would go for the Honor 9X Pro and its huge 6.59-inch screen. I even think that this device will offer better quality compared to the Huawei Nova 5i Pro, but I still can not test it thoroughly as I am waiting for it to go on sale. The Huawei P30 has a very nice display as well, but it is small: just 6.15 inches, so it is not comfortable for everyone. But if you usually are a one-handed user, then you will like it.

Specs & Software

Given that it is equipped with a lower-end and older chipset, Huawei P30 Lite loses this comparison. Huawei Nova 5i Pro and Honor 9X Pro are a lot better thanks to their amazing Kirin 810 SoC which was announced recently with a 7 nm production process. They even offer great memory configurations: up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of internal storage. Performance apart, Honor 9X Pro is more suitable for advanced users due to its bigger screen, so I would go for it. Note that Huawei Nova 5i Pro and Honor 9X Pro ship with EMUI 9.1 based on Android 9 Pie, while Huawei P30 Lite comes with EMUI 9.0. But you can update it.

Camera

The Huawei Nova 5i Pro wins the camera comparison because it offers a more versatile rear camera department. It is equipped with a quad rear camera with a main 48 MP sensor, an ultrawide sensor, a 2 MP dedicated macro camera and even a depth sensor. But if you do not like pop-up cameras and you want an in-display fingerprint reader, then Huawei Nova 5 and its waterdrop notch is undoubtedly your best choice.

Display

Both Honor 9X Pro and Huawei P Smart Z are equipped with an IPS display, while Huawei Nova 5 is the only to sport a higher-end OLED panel. It is a display with a very high 108 percent DCI-P3 coverage, so it shows more brilliant and accurate colors, as well as deeper blacks. On the other hand, it is the smallest panel with a diagonal of just 6.39 inches, while both Honor 9x Pro and Huawei P Smart Z have 6.59-inch displays.

Specs & Software

Huawei P Smart Z loses the hardware comparison at the beginning because it is simply equipped with a lower-end chipset and it comes in just one configuration with 4 GB of RAM  and 64 GB of internal storage. Honor 9X Pro is definitely the most impressive because it boasts a better Kirin 810 chipset realized with a 7 nm production process, 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of internal storage. Huawei Nova 5 has exactly the same hardware department but just 128 GB of internal storage.

Camera

The most complete and versatile camera setup belongs to the Huawei Nova 5 which is equipped with a quad rear camera. It includes an amazing 48 MP main sensor, a 16 MP wide sensor, a depth sensor, and even a dedicated macro camera. Last but not least, it has a better selfie camera than its internal rivals, with a 32 MP resolution. The Honor 9X Pro has a triple rear camera, it lacks the dedicated macro camera and it has a lower resolution for the ultrawide sensor, but it retains the 48 MP main sensor. The less impressive one is the Huawei P Smart Z with just a 16 MP dual camera.

Battery

The weakest point of the Huawei Nova 5 is its battery which comes with only 3500 mAh of capacity (it still offers a more than sufficient battery life), but it is able to charge very quickly thanks to its awesome 40W fast charging. Huawei P Smart Z and Honor 9X Pro have the same 4000 mAh battery but we believe Honor 9X Pro will last more because it boasts a more efficient chipset (12 nm vs 7 nm).

Honor announced the new Honor 9X duo at an official event in China yesterday. There are two models in the lineup, the Honor 9X and the 9X Pro with both of them featuring Huawei’s 7nm Kirin 810 chipset. The new chipset offers great performance without sacrificing on efficiency with a special focus on AI. The company has priced the Honor 9X pretty aggressively to take on competitor brands such as Xiaomi and Realme. But in the process, it has set a solid sales target for the lineup.

Honor’s President George Zhao revealed to the Chinese media yesterday that the company targets to sell over 20 million units of Honor 9X duo. He added that the new phones have been aggresively priced which calls for such high sales target. On first glance, 20 million seems like a mammoth milestone for just one smartphone series. But for Honor, it might not be as hard as we think.

After the trade ban in May 2019, Huawei and Honor’s international sales were hit pretty hard. Last week, Huawei’s sub-brand Honor had confirmed that it will be soon entering into consumer electronics market with the release of ‘Honor Smart Screen’ TV. Honor India President Charles Peng has confirmed through an interview with PTI news agency that the company will be soon introducing its smart TV in India. He also revealed that the Honor 9X series of smartphones that have gone official recently in China will be also coming to India.

Peng said, “We recently announced the launch of a brand-new large-screen category, Smart Vision Smart TV. This indicates that the large-screen industry will enter the smart screen era from the traditional TV era. The first product of the new category will be officially released in early August and we might bring it to the Indian market soon.” He added, “We will launch newer products and establish an ecosystem of technologically advanced and high-quality devices in India.” 

Huawei’s sub-brand is also planning to bring Honor 8X successor to India. Peng stated, “We will launch the next X series phone in India soon. The phone is a successor to Honor 8X launched in India last year, which was a huge rage with the youth in India and has received an overwhelming response.”

Peng has further stated that India being second largest market after China for the company, it aims to gain 10 percent market share by next year. The company also wants to offer users with top notch after-sales service.

In May, the US government had imposed trade ban on Huawei which disallowed U.S. companies to work with the Chinese firm. Earlier this month, the ban was lifted with multiple restrictions. Peng said that regardless of the recent US ban, the restricted supplies from the U.S. won’t affect its smartphones.

Honor 9X Pro Price and Release Date

According to the Tianyi store listing of China Telecom, the Honor 9X Pro that has a model number of HLK-AL00 will be available in two models in China such as 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage. The listing reveals that the latter will be priced at 2,999 Yuan. The publication did not reveal the pricing of the 128 GB storage model of the Honor 9X Pro.

It will be available in colors like Magic Night Black, Phantom Blue and Phantom Violet. The listing says that the Honor 9X Pro will be releasing in the Chinese market on July 25. Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has scheduled a launch event in China on 23rd July where the company will be launching its new Honor 9X and Honor 9X Pro smartphone. Now, ahead of the launch, full specs of both the devices have leaked online.

The leak reveals that the Honor 9X and 9X Pro, both of them will come with a 6.59-inch Full HD+ display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio and 2340 x 1080 pixels screen resolution. Under the hood, both of them will be powered by the company’s own Kirin 810 octa-core processor that was launched last month.

In the camera department, the Honor 9X features a triple camera setup with a 24-megapixel primary sensor, an 8-megapixel secondary sensor, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. On the front side, the device will come with a 20-megapixel snapper for taking selfies and video calling.

On the other hand, the 9X Pro also comes with triple camera setup but it has a 48-megapixel primary sensor, along with an 8-megapixel secondary sensor, and a 2-megapixel tertiary sensor. This one too features a 20-megapixel front-facing snapper.

Both the phones will come with a pop-up front-facing camera design. While both the phones are powered by a 4,000mAh battery, the Honor 9X supports 10W fast charging and the Pro model comes with support for 22.5W fast charging.

The smartphones are also expected to come with a fingerprint scanner for added security, a 3.5mm audio jack, and support for storage expansion. We are expecting the phones to be running the company’s own EMUI 9.1 custom user interface out-of-the-box based on Android 9 Pie operating system.

The Honor 9X Pro that has been recently approved by the Eurasian Economic Commission is expected to replace the Honor 8X Max smartphone from 2018. Yesterday, a tipster had revealed most of the specs of the smartphone. Earlier this week, a leakster from China (ichangezone) had shared the different variants and pricing of the Honor 9X Pro phone along with its key specs.

The new leak states that the Honor 9X Pro will be arriving in China in three variants. The base model with 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage will be priced at 1,899 Yuan (~$274). The second variant featuring 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage will cost 2,199 Yuan (~$317) The highest model with 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage will carry a price tag of 2,499 Yuan (~$360).

The tipster who is known for accurately leaking information on Huawei phones has claimed that the handset will be powered by the forthcoming Kirin 810 chipset. It will be equipped with a quad camera system on its rear featuring the 48-megapixel Sony IMX582 as primary lens. It also includes 8-megapixdel superwide angles, a 2-megapixel sensor for adding depth effects and a 2-megapixel macro lens. For capturing selfies, it will be sporting a front-facing camera of 25-megapixel. The 4,000mAh battery of the phone will carry support for 20W fast charging. The 3D rear glass of the phone could be equipped with a fingerprint sensor.

Other rumors surrounding it has revealed that the Honor 9X Pro could be sporting a 6.5-inch or 6.7-inch LCD display. It is speculated to sport a punch-hole display design. Honor is not yet talking about the Honor 9X and Honor 9X Pro smartphones since it has recently launched the Honor 20 series of flagship phones. There is a possibility that the company start teasing on the Honor 9X series by the end of the month and launch it in July.

Readers are advised to digest the report with a grain of salt and wait for further reports to confirm on its specs, variants and price.

Last week, a new Honor smartphone called the Honor 9X Pro was certified by Russia’s communications agency. Now, what might be the phone’s full specifications have leaked ahead of its release.

The Honor 9X Pro is packing some pretty interesting specs according to the source – @RODENT950. The phone’s display is expected to be between 6.5” and 6.7” and will be an LCD panel. The display may have a punch hole which will house a 25MP camera.

Like most phones released this year, the Honor 9X Pro will have a 48MP camera. This is a Sony IMX582 sensor and it will be paired with an 8MP super-wide angle camera, a 2MP macro lens, and another 2MP depth sensor for a quad camera setup.

Honor will include a 4000mAh battery which should suffice for the large display. It will also have 20W fast-charge technology to allow you to refill in the shortest time possible. The back of the phone will have a 3D glass design. It is too early to say which colors will be available but we expect at least one will have a gradient finish.

In a follow-up tweet, it is revealed the Honor 9X Pro will be powered by the new Kirin 810 SoC and will be the second phone to come with the chipset. The first is the Nova 5. The info about the chipset was first posted by Huawei Club (@ClubHuawei) and their tweet even reveals more details about the SoC.

The Kirin 810 will be a 7nm SoC mid-range chip (the first) and will have a self-developed and integrated NPU. The NPU part is a big deal as Huawei’s Kirin 970 and Kirin 980 processors use Cambricon’s NPU. We sure are excited to know the features of Huawei’s in-house NPU.

We have no idea when the Honor 9X Pro will hit the market but it sure will be after the announcement of the Nova 5 which will be the first Kirin 810-powered chipset. If we were to take a guess, we will say July at the earliest. It should launch alongside the Honor 9X which has already received certification in China.
