The test mimicked real-life scenarios, cycling through popular apps like social media, YouTube, and Slack. The Galaxy S24 Ultra, wielding a hefty 5,000 mAh battery, emerged the clear winner here, lasting a whopping 12 hours and 31 minutes.  

The iPhone 16 Pro Max came in second with a respectable 11 hours and 22 minutes, a noticeable improvement over the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s 9 hours and 35 minutes.

The rest of the iPhone 16 lineup displayed a similar pattern. Both the Plus and Pro clocked in at 8 hours and 19 minutes, while the standard iPhone 16 matched that time. All the iPhone 16 models surpassed their iPhone 15 counterparts, but none quite reached the heights of the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

The latest-generation iPhone 16 series is here. The lineup comprises the standard, plus, pro, and pro max variants. These arrive as the successors to last year’s iPhone 15 models. Alongside the new smartphones, Apple has also unveiled AirPods 4 and Watch Series 10. The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus come with incremental upgrades over their predecessor. iPhone 16, 16 Plus debut

The most notable change on the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus is in design. Apple has gone back to the iPhone X-era by ditching the square camera island and a diagonal sensor placement found on recent-generation iPhones. The new models have a protruding pill-shaped camera module with the sensors stacked vertically. The Cupertino-based tech giant has also parted ways with the legacy mute switch in favor of the Action Button found on last year’s Pro models. On the optics front, the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus feature the same cameras as their predecessor. This means a 48MP main lens with 2x telephoto and a 12MP ultra-wide-angle sensor. The latter also lets you shoot macro images. The phones are also capable of shooting spatial photos and videos, which were limited to the pro models previously. The camera button will work similarly as a DSLR shutter button. A light press will focus on the subject whereas full press will capture the image. Notably, the button is also touch sensitive, so sliding on it will enable adjusting settings like zoom.

Under the hood, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are powered by an A18 processor. Both pack 8GB RAM and up to 512GB storage. The devices will also be able to run Apple Intelligence features (releasing next month) that were shown off at the WWDC this year. The smartphones come with hardware-accelerated ray tracing and are capable of running AAA titles. There is a thermal sheet for higher sustained performance for gaming. Apple says that the iPhone 16 duo comes with a ‘big battery boost’, but the exact capacity remains unclear.

New Apple Watch Series 10

Apple is also expected to launch its new smartwatch, the Apple Watch Series 10., at this event. It’s usual for a new Series smartwatch to tag along with new iPhones. 

Rumors suggest the new wearable could arrive with a slimmer body and thin front bezels. Apple could also introduce a new 49mm size similar to the Apple Watch Ultra.

AirPods 4

As expected, AirPods will also be one of the stars of Apple’s event on September 9. Apple is expected to announce new mid-range and entry-level AirPods 4 options (not pro) to continue competing in the true wireless headphone market. 

One of them would come with similar features to the current third-generation AirPods, while the other variant would have active noise cancellation, but with slightly lower features than the AirPods Pro to put them on sale at a lower price.

Finally, it wouldn’t be strange to see a refresh of the AirPods Max, which could come with updated features compared to the current models. This includes a USB-C port instead of the Lightning connector, Bluetooth 5.3, an H2 chip for more features, and new colors.

It was previously reported that Apple Intelligence will play a key role in the announcement of the new devices, and we’re waiting to see what different features the company has planned for the new devices, which didn’t see the light of day in June at the company’s WWDC event.

Shortly after the event, Apple will release iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS 15, watchOS 11, tvOS 18, and visionOS 2 build candidates to developers as part of its final wave of beta testing. Updates will be released shortly afterward, when devices hit shelves ahead of September 20.

The iPhone 16 series has been continuously making headlines recently. Today brings another update, as a new leak reveals the camera specs of the upcoming smartphones.

The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus appear to be receiving the most minor upgrades. These models will retain the same 48-megapixel main sensor as their predecessors, but the ultrawide camera will see a bump in aperture from f/2.4 to f/2.2. 

Notably, the leak suggests these non-Pro models will finally gain support for macro photography, a feature currently absent from base iPhones.

The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max are rumored to receive slightly more substantial updates. The main camera will likely stay the same as last year, but the ultrawide camera is expected to get a major improvement.

The resolution of the ultrawide camera is rumored to increase from 12-megapixels to 48-megapixels. It will also use pixel binning to take pictures. Each pixel will be 0.7 micrometers, which will effectively create a pixel size of 1.4 micrometers when using binning mode. You should also be able to capture 48-megapixel photos in Apple’s high-fidelity image format, ProRaw. 

Beyond the sensor upgrades, Apple is said to introduce a new photo format this year, JPEG-XL, and the Pro models will also support 3K video recording at 120fps with Dolby Vision. 

One of the more expected additions is the Capture button on all four iPhone 16 models. The button will be capacitive in nature, meaning you won’t have to physically press it to trigger an action, and it will be exclusive to camera apps, supporting both Apple’s apps and third-party options.

The button is also expected to support a force-sensitive half-press, allowing developers to use it for features like locking exposure and focus before taking a photo. Additionally, its capacitive nature might enable it to function as a trackpad.

Apple‘s annual September event, notoriously shrouded in secrecy, might have just had its details leaked – or so a new rumor suggests. Tipster Majin Buu claims to have obtained a poster for the event, which carries the slogan “Ready. Set. Capture.” The poster points to a September 10th date, aligning with previous rumors about the iPhone 16 launch timeframe.

However, it’s important to maintain a healthy dose of skepticism. Majin Buu himself acknowledges that his source wishes to remain anonymous, and he can’t independently verify the information. Until Apple itself sends out official invites, treating this leak with a “wait and see” approach is prudent.

Golden Apple, Golden Phone?

One interesting detail the poster does offer is a gold-colored Apple logo. This could be a hint towards the rumored “Desert Titanium” color option said to be coming for the iPhone 16.

The event slogan, “Ready. Set. Capture,” could refer to the capture button that’s rumored to be introduced with the iPhone 16 lineup. It will be a solid state capacitive button, with haptic feedback supplied by a built-in Taptic engine.

Although its exact functionality is unconfirmed, it’s possible that the button could trigger the camera shutter or serve as a shortcut to the camera app.

Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 16 series in September this year. However, a leaked real-life image of the base model has already revealed the color options. The image also confirms the rumored redesign of the camera island. You can check out the image below.

iPhone 16 to come with a White color option instead of Yellow

As you can see from the image, the iPhone 16 will be available in five different color options – White, Black, Blue, Green, and Pink. For reference, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus is available in a Yellow option instead of the White one.

Apart from the color options, the back design looks significantly different as compared to the predecessor thanks to the rearranged camera layout. However, this isn’t really for a refreshed look, but for enhanced functionality of the camera system.

iPhone 16 is basically confirmed to support Spatial Video

As you might probably know, last year’s pro models can record Spatial Video thanks to the realignment of the ultrawide and telephoto. When the ultrawide and the main are placed vertically, the phone can record Spatial Video. last year’s non-Pro models offered a diagonal arrangement for the ultrawide and the main camera, which is not compatible with the video feature.

So the company has finally changed the camera arrangement for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus to offer support for the feature.

Speaking of the camera resolution, it is expected to be 48MP for the main and 48 MP (1/2.6″) for the ultrawide. For context, last year’s non-Pro models come equipped with 12MP sensors for the ultrawide camera. While the main camera will offer the same resolution, it will reportedly use a larger 1/1.14″ sensor ( Sony IMX903 sensor) as compared to the 1/1.56″ one of the predecessors. The reported 1/1.14″ sensor is even bigger than the iPhone 15 Pro’s 1/1.28″ main sensor. Nonetheless, this is still a rumor and you should take it with a pinch of salt.

So far, we’ve seen several leaks revealing key details about the iPhone 16 series. Today, there’s another major one that shows dummy units of all the phones in the lineup.

The image comes courtesy of long-time Apple leaker Sonny Dickson, who previously leaked the entire set of machined blanks for the iPhone 16 series. So there’s a good chance this is a real deal. 

The most notable change is the camera layout for the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus. They will ditch the diagonal camera setup of their predecessors in favor of a vertical setup. Whereas, there’s not much of a change in the design of the Pro models. 

The switch to vertical cameras on the standard iPhones is to support the recording of spatial videos that can play back in the Apple Vision Pro in 3D. 

Another notable change is in the screen sizes of the Pro models. The iPhone 16 Pro Max will have a 6.9-inch display compared to 6.7-inch of iPhone 15 Pro Max, making it the largest ever Pro Max model yet. 

The iPhone 16 Pro will also have a slightly larger screen at 6.3 inches, up from 6.1 inches on the iPhone 15 Pro. The standard iPhone 16 and 16 Plus will, however, keep their screen sizes at 6.1 inches and 6.7 inches, respectively.

Apart from these changes, the dummy units offer little in terms of revealing new design features. While rumors suggest a dedicated Capture button for camera controls, we can’t see that in these replicas. 

As usual, we can expect the new iPhones to launch in September. While this may seem like a long wait, it’s likely that further leaks will surface during this period.

A new report has revealed an interesting detail regarding the 2025 iPhone lineup. Apple is apparently planning on launching the iPhone 16 series with the A18 chipset. The news arrives from leaked iOS 18 codes, so here are all the details.

iPhone 16 lineup to arrive with the A18 SoC

Notably, this report is in line with one of our earlier reports from back in October and was based on a leak from known analyst Jeff Pu. Now, the latest information arrives from leaked iOS 18 codes that were first spotted by Mac Rumors. The report cited sources that spotted details on the iOS 18 source code that details four unreleased iPhones. These are listed as D47, D48, D93, and D94, which likely refer to the iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max, respectively.

It seems that the Cupertino based giant will be using the same chip for the entire lineup. This is in contrast to its recent launches where the base and Plus models feature improved last gen processors while the Pro series come with the latest generation SoC. While the iOS source code leaks did not officially reveal the name of the said processor, it is listed as the t8140 system for all four iPhone 16 models.

The iPhone 15 series was introduced recently, but the anticipation for the next models has already started. Naturally, leaks follow this anticipation closely. Moreover, the initial leaks suggest that Apple might be making a decision that will please its users this time. According to analyst Jeff Pu’s report, the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus are rumored to jump from the A16 to the A18 chip. These claims are not new, as there have been previous reports suggesting similar developments.

However, hearing the same thing multiple times could be a strong indicator that it might actually happen. In his latest note, Pu said “we expect all iPhone 16 models to feature A18,” and he expects the chips to be manufactured with chipmaker TSMC’s second-generation 3nm process “N3E.” Pu referred to the A17 Pro chip in the iPhone 15 Pro models, based on TSMC’s first-generation 3nm process “N3B,” as a “transition design.” The processors to be used in the iPhone 16 family are as follows, respectively:

While the iPhone 15 lineup was just recently unveiled, new rumors and leaks have already surfaced regarding its successor. Now, the latest report hints at the A18 Bionic chipset being common across all four devices.

All Apple iPhone 16 models to come with A18 Bionic SoC

The news arrives from known analyst Jeff Pu. He claimed that sources from the Apple supply chain has revealed that the Cupertino based giant’s 2024 iPhones will be equipped with the A18 series SoC. Apparently, this new chipset will power every model of the iPhone 16 series. In other words, the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max will come with the same processor family.

In the recent past, the brand featured the latest A series chips on the higher end Pro models while the base and Plus models get the previous year’s chips. But from 2024, it seems like the entire lineup will feature the A18 series chips. The renowned analyst claims that the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will feature the A18 Bionic SoC while the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will launch with the A18 Pro chipset. Just recently, Pu shared in a research note that the new iPhone 16 Pro series will arrive with some notable upgrades. This includes the faster Wi-Fi 7 standard and a new ultra wide angle lens.
