<p>The spiritual successor of the Essential phone will also come with a heavy emphasis on privacy and security. Now, after Qualcomm&#8217;s official unveiling of the<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/05/20/qualcomm-unveils-snapdragon-8-gen-1-plus/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"> new Snapdragon chipsets</a>, OSOM has announced that the upcoming OSOM OV1 will come with the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-8-gen-1-plus/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1</a> mobile platform chipset at its heart.</p>
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-width="550" data-dnt="true">
<p lang="en" dir="ltr">Excited to announce that the <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Snapdragon?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#Snapdragon</a> 8+ Gen 1 Mobile Platform will ship with OSOM&#39;s first device. <p><script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script></p>
<p>This announcement confirms that the OV1 will likely be a smartphone targeting the premium segment. Other than the SoC on the device, previous reports have already revealed many of the specs and features coming with the OSOM OV1.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="td-animation-stack-type0-2 aligncenter wp-image-448697 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/OSOM-OV1-display.jpg?x10805" alt="OSOM OV1 " width="1080" height="1080" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/OSOM-OV1-display.jpg 1080w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/OSOM-OV1-display-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/OSOM-OV1-display-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/OSOM-OV1-display-768x768.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/OSOM-OV1-display-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/OSOM-OV1-display-696x696.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/OSOM-OV1-display-1068x1068.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/OSOM-OV1-display-420x420.jpg 420w" sizes="(max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px" /></p>
<p>Starting with one of the most interesting features, the device will come with a privacy-focused &#8220;<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/03/11/osom-ov1-will-come-with-a-type-c-privacy-cable-and-privacy-centric-apps/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Secure Data Cable</a>&#8221; in the box. This cable will have a switch which can allow or restrict data transfer via the cable making it more secure to charge your device in public or by connecting it to a PC or laptop.</p>
<p>A <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/03/07/osom-ov1-smartphone-details-revealed/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">recent report</a> revealed that the smartphone will come with an OLED display panel, however, the resolution, refresh rate, and other display details are still under wraps. What we do know is that the device will have slim bezels, a small chin, and rounded edges, as seen in a recently teased image.</p>
<p>The smartphone will also come with privacy-focused apps preloaded like Brave browser, Signal, etc. It will run on an Android-based operating system and offer support for dual SIM with 5G ultra-wideband connectivity.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-432316 size-large" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/OSOM-OV1-featured-1024x683.jpg?x10805" alt="OSOM OV1 featured" width="1024" height="683" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/OSOM-OV1-featured-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/OSOM-OV1-featured-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/OSOM-OV1-featured-768x513.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/OSOM-OV1-featured-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/OSOM-OV1-featured-1068x713.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/OSOM-OV1-featured-629x420.jpg 629w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/OSOM-OV1-featured.jpg 1440w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></p>
<p>Coming to the optics, the smartphone is tipped to feature a dual-camera setup on the back consisting of a 48-megapixel primary sensor and a 12-megapixel secondary lens. On the front , there will be a 16-megapixel snapper for taking selfies and video calling.</p>

In this conference, the company plans on unveiling its next gen flagship mobile chipset, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-8-gen-1-plus/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+</a>. However, prior to this event, a new leak has revealed some interesting details regarding this chipset, so lets have a look.</p>
<figure id="attachment_457923" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-457923" style="width: 221px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-457923 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Snapdragon-8-Gen-1-Plus.png?x10805" alt="Qualcomm" width="221" height="239" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-457923" class="wp-caption-text">Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+</figcaption></figure>
<p>The chipmaking giant&#8217;s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus (SM8475) is based on a 4nm process. This chipset is will apparently feature an overall boost in performance thanks to a 10 percent overclocking. The processor will still retain the &#8220;1+3+4&#8221; core cluster architecture, which consists of a Cortex X2, Cortex A710, and the Cortex A510. According to a known Weibo tipster (a Chinese microblogging website), the CPU and GPU of architecture are still the same, but with an improvement of energy efficiency of 30 percent.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-461240 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/unknown.png?x10805" alt="Qualcomm" width="646" height="247" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/unknown.png 646w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/unknown-300x115.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 646px) 100vw, 646px" /></p>
<p>Similarly, its power consumption has also be lowered by 30 percent as well. In other words, along with the 10 percent improvement in performance, this chipset will also have better endurance overall. The tipster added that this is the only official data as of right now, although, the actual performance of the mass produced Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ chip is still unknown. For those unaware, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ will replace the existing <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-8-gen-1/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Snapdragon 8 Gen 1</a> and will soon be featured in upcoming flagship smartphone models from various brands.</p>

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus chipset is expected to power the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/04/20/xiaomi-12s-12s-pro-with-snapdragon-8-gen1-in-works/">Xiaomi 12S and 12S Pro smartphones.</a></p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/05/07/xiaomi-12s-pro-with-dimensity-9000-soc-is-in-the-works-spotted-on-mi-code/">A recent report</a> suggested that the Xiaomi 12S Pro may arrive in two CPU variants. The first one could be equipped with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-8-gen-1-plus">Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus</a> mobile platform, whereas the second variant could be driven by the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/dimensity-9000">Dimensity 9000</a> SoC. Hence, it appears that the 12S Pro could be Xiaomi’s first flagship powered by a MediaTek chipset.</p>
<p>In related news, three new Xiaomi phones with model numbers 2203121C, 2206123SC, and 2206122SC have bagged CMIIT certification. These devices are expected to launch in China with the Xiaomi 12 Ultra, Xiaomi 12S, and Xiaomi 12S Pro names, respectively.</p>

<p>The brand will likely announce two new smartphone <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/chipset">chipsets</a> &#8212; Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus.</p>

<p>This will mark the debut of the 7-series processor from Qualcomm with the new naming scheme that the company introduced last year when it announced the flagship <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-8-gen-1">Snapdragon 8 Gen 1</a> SoC.</p>
<p>Based on the reports and leaks, the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 will use ARM Cortex A710 and Cortex A510 cores clocked at 2.3GHz and 1.8GHz, respectively. Along with that, it will also come integrated with Adreno 662 GPU.</p>
<p>On the other hand, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus, as the name itself indicates, is an upgraded variant of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. It is built on <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/tsmc">TSMC</a>&#8216;s 4nm process instead of Samsung&#8217;s 4nm process.</p>
<p>Previous leaks have indicated that the chipset will have a 1 + 3 + 4 core configuration, including a Cortex X2 prime core with a 2.99GHz frequency. It is also said to come with three Cortex A710 cores and four Cortex A510 cores.</p>

The report also carried the first live shots of the device and revealed some of its key specifications. However, it did not mention anything about the screen size of the display. Now, display analyst Ross Young has revealed that the upcoming Razr will be blessed with larger displays.</p>
<p><a href="https://twitter.com/DSCCRoss/status/1525132326614642693">Young claimed</a> that the next Motorola Razr will have a 6.7-inch foldable screen instead of the 6.2-inch display, which was made available on the predecessor, the Razr 5G. It appears that the company will also be increasing the size of the cover display.</p>
<figure id="attachment_459115" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-459115" style="width: 1080px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-459115" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Maven_CLI.jpg?x10805" alt="Motorola Razr (Maven) live shot by 91mobiles" width="1080" height="1117" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Maven_CLI.jpg 1080w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Maven_CLI-290x300.jpg 290w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Maven_CLI-768x794.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Maven_CLI-990x1024.jpg 990w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Maven_CLI-696x720.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Maven_CLI-1068x1105.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Maven_CLI-406x420.jpg 406w" sizes="(max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-459115" class="wp-caption-text">Motorola Razr (Maven) live shot by 91mobiles</figcaption></figure>
<p>The Razr 5G featured a 2.7-inch external display, but the next Razr is likely to sport a large 3-inch cover display. Both screens will be built by CSOT (China Star Optoelectronics). Leaked information that surfaced in January claimed that the internal display of the phone will carry support for a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/01/11/motorola-razr-3-specifications-leak-reveals-it-will-debut-as-flagship-device/">120Hz refresh rate</a>, a Full HD+ resolution, and a 20:9 aspect ratio.</p>
<p>The device is expected to arrive with a 32-megapixel front camera and a 50-megapixel main camera and a 13-megapixel ultrawide lens. The latter may also function as a macro snapper. It may come with up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of storage. It is rumored to houe a 2,800mAh battery, but there is no word on its fast-charging capabilities.</p>
<p>The Maven model is likely to feature the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-8-gen-1">Snapdragon 8 Gen 1</a> SoC. however, Motorola may release another variant featuring the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-8-gen-1-plus">Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus</a> SoC. Motorola is likely to announce its Razr clamshell by late July or early August in China. It is also expected to release in global markets. It may come in two colors: Quartz Black and Tranquil Blue.&#8217;</p>

The CAD renders revealed that its design will be similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 3, but it will be a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/05/10/samsung-galaxy-z-fold4-cover-inner-screen-aspect-ratios-revealed/">shorter and wider device</a>. It was found that the device would sport a designed camera unit with protruding cameras. Now, a fresh leak has revealed the camera configurations <span data-startindex="347" data-endindex="347" data-paragraphid="4">o</span> the Z Fold 4.</p>
<p>According to reliable <a href="https://twitter.com/universeice/status/1525494258714546176">tipster Ice Universe</a>, the triple camera unit of the Z Fold 4 will have a 50-megapixel primary camera. It will be accompanied by a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens and a 12-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x zoom.</p>
<p>It appears that the Z Fold 4 may inherit the main and ultrawide snappers from the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus. The tipster claimed that it would come with the best 3x zoom camera ever seen on a Samsung phone. The leak suggests that the Z Fold 4 will offer an improved photography experience.</p>

<p>Coming to the other specs, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is expected a 6.2-inch cover display and a 7.6-inch internal display. Both displays are said to be shorter and wider than the previous generation. The internal display will have an in-screen camera, but its configuration is yet to be revealed. Also, there is no information on the front camera of the device. It remains to be seen to whether it will get the same 10-megapixel front camera and a 4-megapixel under-display camera.</p>
<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-8-gen-1-plus">Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+</a>chipset will likely power the Galaxy Z Fold 4. It may house <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/04/22/samsung-galaxy-z-fold4s-dual-cell-battery-capacity-revealed/">a 4,400mAh battery</a>. It is expected to support <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/05/07/samsung-galaxy-z-flip4-fold4-3c-certification-25w/">25W fast charging</a>, wireless and reverse wireless charging. The device will not feature a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/02/15/samsung-galaxy-z-fold4-s-pen-slot/">dedicate S Pen storage slot</a>.</p>

Last week, both models bagged approval from the 3C authority of China. Now, a reliable tipster has revealed the aspect ratio of both devices.</p>
<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-z-fold3-5g/">Galaxy Z Fold3’s</a> cover display and inner foldable screen offer 24.5:9 and 5:4 aspect ratios, respectively. According to <a href="https://twitter.com/UniverseIce/status/1523600240376356866">Ice Universe</a>, the Galaxy Z Fold4’s cover screen will offer a 23:9 aspect ratio, whereas its inner display will produce a 6:5 aspect ratio.</p>
<figure id="attachment_459422" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-459422" style="width: 1048px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-459422" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold4-front-display-aspect-ratio.jpg?x10805" alt="Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 front display aspect ratio" width="1048" height="900" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold4-front-display-aspect-ratio.jpg 1048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold4-front-display-aspect-ratio-300x258.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold4-front-display-aspect-ratio-768x660.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold4-front-display-aspect-ratio-1024x879.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold4-front-display-aspect-ratio-696x598.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold4-front-display-aspect-ratio-489x420.jpg 489w" sizes="(max-width: 1048px) 100vw, 1048px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-459422" class="wp-caption-text">Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 front display aspect ratio / Image Source: Ice Universe</figcaption></figure>
<p>The new leak, which the tipster demonstrated through images, reveals that the Galaxy Z Fold4’s cover display will be wider than the Galaxy Z Fold4. In addition, the Z Fold4’s inner screen will also be shorter and wider as compared to its predecessor. Having wider displays onboard will allow the Galaxy foldable to offer a better experience while typing and watching videos.</p>
<p>The Z Fold3 features a 4,400mAh battery with 25W charging support. The tipster also revealed that the Z Fold4 will continue to house <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/04/22/samsung-galaxy-z-fold4s-dual-cell-battery-capacity-revealed/">a 4,400mAh battery</a>. The Z Fold4 was recently discovered with model number SM-F9360 in the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/05/07/samsung-galaxy-z-flip4-fold4-3c-certification-25w/">3C certification</a> site&#8217;s database.</p>
<figure id="attachment_459423" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-459423" style="width: 1200px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-459423" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold4-inner-display-aspect-ratio.jpg?x10805" alt="Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 inner display aspect ratio" width="1200" height="721" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold4-inner-display-aspect-ratio.jpg 1200w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold4-inner-display-aspect-ratio-300x180.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold4-inner-display-aspect-ratio-768x461.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold4-inner-display-aspect-ratio-1024x615.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold4-inner-display-aspect-ratio-696x418.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold4-inner-display-aspect-ratio-1068x642.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold4-inner-display-aspect-ratio-699x420.jpg 699w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-459423" class="wp-caption-text">Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 inner display aspect ratio / Image Source: Ice Universe</figcaption></figure>
<p>The listing suggested that the device may support 25W fast charging. It appears that the device will ship with an in-box charger in China. Like its predecessor, it is expected to carry support for wireless charging and reverse wireless charging.</p>
<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/04/06/samsung-galaxy-z-fold-4-camera-specs/">upgraded rear camera setup</a> of the Galaxy Z Fold4 is expected to feature a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/04/20/samsung-galaxy-z-fold4-to-get-s22-ultras-main-ultra-wide-cameras/">108-megapixel main camera</a>, a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera, and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. Its front may feature a 10-megapixel camera.</p>
<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-8-gen-1-plus">Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus</a> chipset is likely to power the Z Fold4. It is rumored to arrive with a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/04/06/samsung-galaxy-z-fold4-single-hinge-design-rumors/">single hinge design</a> for better durability. It is still unclear whether the foldable phone will feature <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/02/15/samsung-galaxy-z-fold4-s-pen-slot/">a dedicated slot for storing the stylus</a>.</p>

A new leak has claimed that the tablet could be arriving in two CPU variants, featuring different Snapdragon 8-series chipsets. Here is all the information on the Realme Pad 5G specifications that are known so far.</p>
<p>Tipster Digital Chat Station has <a href="https://www.weibo.com/u/6048569942?profile_ftype=1&amp;is_all=1#_0">said</a> that the next thing to watch <span data-startindex="67" data-endindex="70" data-paragraphid="5">out </span>from Realme is the Realme Pad 5G, which indicates that it may launch soon. He claimed that the prototype of the tablet is powered by different chipsets.</p>
<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-870">Snapdragon 870</a> SoC variant of the tablet is fitted with an LCD screen that produces a 2.5K resolution. The device will be backed by an 8,<span data-startindex="137" data-endindex="143" data-paragraphid="6">360mAh </span>battery. He did not share any details on the cameras or the fast charging capabilities of the device. However, he added that the tablet will come with support for a stylus.</p>

This model is likely to feature the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-8-gen-1-plus">Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+</a>, which hasn’t gone official yet. A <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/05/06/qualcomm-delay-snapdragon-8-gen-1-plus-launch/">recent report</a> claimed that the SD8G1+ chip is likely to debut in the second half of 2022. Unfortunately, there is no information on the other specs of the tablet. However, the only other thing that is known about this variant is that it may debut in the Chinese market with the Realme Pad 5G Master Explorer Edition name.<span data-startindex="480" data-endindex="481" data-paragraphid="7">  </span></p>

Now a report reveals that the smartphone will also come with a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 Soc. The features of the phone are expected to be the same except for the processor.</p>
<p>According to <em><a href="https://xiaomiui.net/xiaomi-12s-pro-dimensity-9000-edition-spotted-on-mi-code-24487/">Xiaomiui</a></em>, Xiaomi 12S Pro with Dimensity 9000 SoC is in the works and they have spotted its traces on the Mi code. The publication first found the phone’s model number- <strong>2207122MC</strong> in the IMEI database.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-459018" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Xiaomi-12S-Pro-model-number.jpg?x10805" alt="Xiaomi 12S Pro mediatek edition model number" width="1121" height="222" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Xiaomi-12S-Pro-model-number.jpg 1121w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Xiaomi-12S-Pro-model-number-300x59.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Xiaomi-12S-Pro-model-number-768x152.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Xiaomi-12S-Pro-model-number-1024x203.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Xiaomi-12S-Pro-model-number-696x138.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Xiaomi-12S-Pro-model-number-1068x212.jpg 1068w" sizes="(max-width: 1121px) 100vw, 1121px" /></p>

<p>The news arrives from known Weibo tipster, <em><a href="https://weibo.com/6048569942/LrJI22lwT" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Digital Chat Station</a></em>, who stated that the top end chipset that succeeds the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-8-gen-1/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Snapdragon 8 Gen 1</a> SoC will now be arriving sometime in the second half of this year. Previously, the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ SoC from the American chipmaker was expected to release earlier due to production issues faced by its supplier, Samsung. However, it appears that the shift to the upcoming chipset was delayed due to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/coronavirus/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Coronavirus</a> outbreak in China.</p>
<p>Recently, there has been a surge of COVID-19 infections in the nation, which has caused the government to impose lockdowns in various cities. Some of these cities are also manufacturing hubs where a number of production factories are set up. Furthermore, these restrictions will reportedly not be relaxed anytime soon since it may &#8220;undoubtedly lead to a massive number of infections,&#8221; as per a Chinese political leader.</p>

<p>As of right now, Qualcomm is rumored to debut the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ processor with the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra. Digital Chat Station had stated that the reason for the chip making its first appearance on the Moto smartphone is because Lenovo has a &#8220;good relationship&#8221; with the chipmaker. No official information regarding the chipset is known at the moment, but it is expected to feature a more powerful GPU, while retaining a similar performing CPU.</p>

In March, Jin had showcased an image of a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/03/23/motorolas-125w-charger-revealed-motorola-frontier-launch-seems-imminent/">125W charger</a>, which hinted that the arrival of the Motorola Frontier is not far away. The new Weibo also suggests the same.</p>
<p>The Motorola Frontier is most likely to be announced after Qualcomm unveils the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+. It is speculated that the US-based chipmaker will announce the SD8G1+ by early May. The company is also expected to launch the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset alongside it.</p>

<p>As far as configurations are concerned, the SD8G1+ chip is expected to feature Cortex-X2 core, Cortex-A710, and Cortex-A510 cores. It may also include the Adreno 730 GPU. It will be a 4nm chip manufactured by TSMC. As far as <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/motorola-frontier/">Motorola Frontier’s</a> launch is concerned, the company is speculated to unveil it in June. It is expected to arrive with key specs such as a 6.7-inch POLED FHD+ 144Hz display, 200-megapixel + 50-megapixel + 12-megapixel triple rear cameras, a 60-megapixel front camera, 12 GB of RAM, 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage, and a 4,500mAh battery with 125W wired / 50W wireless charging support. This phone is likely to launch with the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra moniker in global markets.</p>

More and more companies are jumping into the concept. The foldable phone market is dominated by Samsung but slowly more smartphone brands are making room for them. Xiaomi entered the segment with the Mi Mix Fold. The Chinese company will follow it up with the Mix Fold 2 this year, and a new report sheds some light on what the upcoming foldable will look like.</p>
<p>There have been many rumors and speculations flying around regarding the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mix-fold-2/">Mix Fold 2.</a> However, a recent report by XDA finally gives us the first glimpse of Xiaomi&#8217;s next foldable.</p>
<p>Kacper Skrzypek, a senior <a href="https://www.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-zizhan-next-foldable/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>XDA</em></a> member, discovered images of the Mi Mix Fold successor within the latest MIUI China builds.</p>
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-width="550" data-dnt="true">
<p lang="und" dir="ltr"><a href="https://t.co/JaNS8FeDez">pic.twitter.com/JaNS8FeDez</a></p>
<p>&mdash; Kacper Skrzypek <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/13.1.0/72x72/1f1f5-1f1f1.png" alt="🇵🇱" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> (@kacskrz) <a href="https://twitter.com/kacskrz/status/1518996504157040642?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">April 26, 2022</a></p></blockquote>
<p><script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script></p>
<p>The image does not provide much insight except the outline of the phone and camera placement. It can be seen that the camera bump on the back of the phone is a square with rounded corners, unlike the rectangular bump of Mi Mix Fold.</p>
<p>The inner display is clean and does not have any camera cutout, the handset can be seen to have a punch hole camera in the center of the external display.</p>
<p>Skrzypek also shared that the foldable phone is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/12/09/xiaomi-zizhan-could-go-official-as-xiaomi-mix-fold-2/">codenamed</a> &#8220;Zizhan&#8221;. The MIUI code further reveals “Zizhan” will have the same display as “Umi” (codename for the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-10-5g/">Mi 10</a>) which means Mi Mix Fold 2 may come out with a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/super-amoled/">Super AMOLED display</a> carrying support for 90Hz refresh rate and HDR 10+.</p>
<p>Previous <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/03/28/xiaomi-mix-fold-2-improved-crease-tip/">leaks</a> suggest that the device will have an improved crease and could be powered by TSMC-made <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/03/24/three-xiaomi-phones-with-snapdragon-8-gen-1-plus-may-launch-soon/">Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus</a>. MIX Fold 2 is likely to have an internal screen size of 8-inches and a cover display size of 6.5-inches.</p>

Recent reports have claimed that the company is working on a <span data-startindex="126" data-endindex="126" data-paragraphid="48">‘</span>Plus<span data-startindex="131" data-endindex="131" data-paragraphid="48">’</span> edition of the SD8G1. It is speculated that Qualcomm’s rumored chip with the SM8475 part number may debut as the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-8-gen-1-plus">Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus</a> chipset. A new report by <em><a href="https://onsitego.com/blog/exclusive-qualcomm-snapdragon-8-gen-1-4nm-announced-may-2022/">Onsitego</a> </em>cites tipster Yogesh Brar as the source and shares the launch timeframe of Qualcomm’s next flagship chip.</p>
<p>The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is built on Samsung’s 4nm process, whereas the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ will be based on the Taiwan-based TSMC’s 4nm semiconductor fabrication process. It is speculated that the Plus edition will be more efficient than the regular version.</p>
<p>The report claims that Qualcomm will announce the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ in early May. The US-based chip maker is also expected to unveil the new Snapdragon 700-series around the same time. The first smartphones powered by the SD8G1+ are expected to debut as early as June 2022.</p>

It&#8217;s easy to assume here that since the upcoming chip from <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/Qualcomm">Qualcomm</a> is a flagship, phones featuring it will be flagships too &#8212; but the leakster said &#8220;both mid-to-high-end and high-end&#8221; offerings will have it under the hood.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-450878 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/xiaomi-snapdragon-8-gen-1-plus.png?x10805" alt="xiaomi snapdragon 8 gen 1 plus" width="961" height="189" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/xiaomi-snapdragon-8-gen-1-plus.png 961w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/xiaomi-snapdragon-8-gen-1-plus-300x59.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/xiaomi-snapdragon-8-gen-1-plus-768x151.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/xiaomi-snapdragon-8-gen-1-plus-696x137.png 696w" sizes="(max-width: 961px) 100vw, 961px" /></p>
<p>And if one pictures an upper mid-range device with a flagship chip, <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/Redmi">Redmi</a> devices immediately come to mind. The sub-brand is known for bringing performance-focused devices with high-end chips to the masses, so it&#8217;s likely that at least one of the said three devices will be its product. The Xiaomi MIX series could also be a contender.</p>
<p>The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus is based on TSMC&#8217;s 4nm process, which many hope will address most of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/03/05/snapdragon-8-gen-1-beaten-by-dimensity-8100-geekbench/">shortcomings</a> from Samsung&#8217;s process used to produce the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. It is expected to use a &#8220;1+3+4&#8221; three-cluster architecture, comprising 1x super-large Cortex X2 core, 3x large Cortex A710 cores, and 4x small Cortex A510 cores.</p>
<p>Sources say that the processor will be used in the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/03/23/xiaomi-12-ultra-heres-when-it-is-expected-to-launch-in-china/">Xiaomi 12 Ultra</a>, which should make the phone the new Xiaomi champion in terms of processing power, dethroning the Xiaomi 12 Pro.</p>
<p>The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus is expected to be released in the second quarter of 2022 so the aforementioned trio will likely be also launched around the same time.</p>

<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-442633 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Screenshot-2022-02-10-152550.png?x10805" alt="Qualcomm" width="614" height="159" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Screenshot-2022-02-10-152550.png 614w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Screenshot-2022-02-10-152550-300x78.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 614px) 100vw, 614px" /></p>
<p>According to 手机晶片达人 on Weibo (a Chinese microblogging website), the American chipmaking giant is seeking to release its 4nm Snapdragon 8 Gen1+ soon to replace the current Snapdragon 8 Gen1 chips soon. For those unaware, the 8 Gen1 is a flagship grade processor, which is the latest and greatest from the brand that is being shipped in premium grade handsets at the moment. However, we have reported on Samsung <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/12/08/part-of-snapdragon-8-gen-1-production-reportedly-moved-away-to-tsmc/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">facing issues in chip production</a> that caused caused Qualcomm to move part of 8 Gen1 production to <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/tsmc/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">TSMC</a>.</p>
<p>So, the company is reportedly pushing to launch the improved version of the chipset soon that will be made by Taiwan Semiconductor manufacturing Company, to replace the Samsung made version. The version from the world&#8217;s largest contract chipmaker is also based on the 4nm based process and carried the model number SM8475, compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen1&#8217;s SM8450 model number.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<figure id="attachment_428371" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-428371" style="width: 1080px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-428371 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/20211201133051.jpg?x10805" alt="Qualcomm" width="1080" height="671" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/20211201133051.jpg 1080w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/20211201133051-300x186.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/20211201133051-768x477.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/20211201133051-1024x636.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/20211201133051-356x220.jpg 356w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/20211201133051-696x432.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/20211201133051-1068x664.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/20211201133051-676x420.jpg 676w" sizes="(max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-428371" class="wp-caption-text">Snapdragon 8 Gen 1</figcaption></figure>
<p>While finer details are still unknown, the Plus variant will apparently offer improved CPU performance through higher clock speeds but with better power efficiency as well. Although, these likely won&#8217;t be any major upgrades. This chip is expected to first be featured in flagship phones like <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-12-ultra/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Xiaomi 12 Ultra</a>, or even the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi-mix-5/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">MIX 5</a> series. However, this is still speculation at the moment. Keep in mind that this is still an unconfirmed report so take it with a pinch of salt for now.</p>

Reliable tipster Evan Blass leaked the specifications and renders of the next Legion gaming phone that is codenamed as “Halo.”</p>
<h3><strong>Lenovo Legion Halo specifications (rumored)</strong></h3>
<p>The Lenovo Legion Halo render shows that it has a punch-hole display on the front. It has a 6.67-inch P-OLED panel that offers an FHD+ resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate, and a 300Hz touch sampling rate. It has a front-facing camera of 16-megapixel.</p>
<p>Moving on to the back, the Halo phone can be seen sporting a subdued design as compared to the other Legion branded gaming smartphones. The rear camera setup of the Legion Halo will include a 50-megapixel primary camera, which is accompanied by a 13-megapixel lens and a 2-megapixel snapper.</p>

<p>The Legion Halo will be powered by the next generation 4nm Snapdragon chip with SM8475 model number and Adreno 730 GPU. Since the existing <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-8-gen-1">Snapdragon 8 Gen 1</a> chip has the same GPU and SM8450 model number, it appears that the SM8475 could be an updated or over-clocked version of the SD8G1 chip. Qualcomm may launch the new chip with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus name in the next few months.</p>
<p>The phone will offer users 8 GB / 12 GB / 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128 GB / 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The gaming phone will house a 5,000mAh battery that will carry support for 68W rapid charging.</p>
