It is the most affordable last-generation phone by the Chinese company, but it is not its only device sold for less than €100. There is another super cheap Xiaomi device that people can opt for: the Redmi 6A. After the launch of the Redmi Go, a lot of potential buyers are wondering which one is worth buying, given that they share a similar price. Here, we will try to let you find out with in-depth specs comparison between the two compact and affordable handsets.

Design

Even though it is a more recent device, Xiaomi Redmi Go has a more outdated design than Xiaomi Redmi 6A. The latter comes with a taller display as well as thinner bezels, so a definitely better look on the front side. Regarding the rear sides, all depends on your tastes. Xiaomi Redmi 6A has a body that looks like metal (but it is plastic) while Xiaomi Redmi Go has a cleaner backside but it is evident that it is made of polycarbonate. On the other hand, Xiaomi Redmi Go is more compact and also more lightweight, even though there is not a big difference in weight and dimensions as you can see from the specs sheets above.

Display

When you are about to buy an entry-level phone, you should never expect an excellent display. Xiaomi Redmi Go and Xiaomi Redmi 6A are equipped with different IPS panels, but their viewing quality is almost the same. They have more or less the same level of detail and similar color reproduction (just sufficient). The big difference is the size: Xiaomi Redmi 6A has a bigger and taller display, while Xiaomi Redmi Go has a smaller panel with the classic 16:9 aspect ratio. If you often use your device with one hand, then Xiaomi Redmi Go may be ideal for you, but if you want a better display for multimedia and advanced activities, then go for the Xiaomi Redmi 6A. But again, even under this point of view, differences are marginal.

Specs & Software

Xiaomi Redmi 6A has a much better hardware department than Xiaomi Redmi Go. It comes with one of the most performing quad-core chipsets, up to 3 GB of RAM and up to 32 GB of internal storage. Xiaomi Redmi Go comes with only 1 GB of RAM. However, while Xiaomi Redmi 6A has the classic MIUI, Xiaomi Redmi Go runs Android Go, so it can deliver a similar performance in daily use. Android Go is an enlightened version of the operating system which takes less space and runs smoothly even on devices with 512 MB of RAM. So the fact that Redmi Go has just 1 GB of RAM is not a big issue. By the way, if you want to play games, then you should still go for the Xiaomi Redmi 6A.

Camera

While both Xiaomi Redmi Go and Redmi 6A have the same, sufficient front camera for selfies, what changes in the camera setup is the rear sensor. The Redmi Go has a more disappointing 8 MP sensor which cannot even record videos in 1080p, while Xiaomi Redmi 6A has a more acceptable 13 MP rear camera. Xiaomi Redmi 6A is everything but a camera phone, but its shots are not so bad when light conditions are good. So, it wins the camera comparison, even though Redmi Go has a brighter f/2.0 which is more useful with low light.

Battery

You cannot understand which device will last more from the battery capacity as both Xiaomi Redmi Go and Redmi 6A boast a 3000 mAh battery. Basing on the specs on the paper, Redmi Go should last more because it has Android Go installed, a very efficient SoC and a smaller display to manage. But in order to give a definitive verdict, we will have to test Redmi Go’s battery life and now we still cannot do it as the phone is not on sale.

Price

People wonder which device is the best to buy because, as we said at the beginning of this article, their prices are very similar. While Redmi Go costs €80/$91 in the global market, Xiaomi Redmi 6A is available for about €90/$103 in the Chinese market. Despite the presence of Android Go on the Redmi Go, I would personally spend a bit more and go for the Xiaomi Redmi 6A because it has a better camera, more RAM and more internal storage than Redmi Go.

It is the new low-end handset from Oppo’s new sub-brand focused on affordable phones, and it comes with better memory configurations compared to the original C1 released in 2018. But besides this new device that just debuted in the Indian peninsula, there are some more interesting entry-level phones sold at ridiculous prices that may intrigue you: the Honor Play 8A and the Xiaomi Redmi 6A. They are among the most important entry-level phones in the last months and here we will compare them with the new Realme C1 in order to establish whether or not Oppo’s sub-brand did a better job.

Design

The design I personally like more is the one of the Honor Play 8A. It is cleaner on both the rear and the front side, with a very small waterdrop notch and very narrow bezels around the display. It is a feature that is mostly present on high-end devices and not entry-level ones. Realme C1 2019 has very thin bezels as well, but I like the Honor Play 8A more because of its smaller notch. I do not like the Xiaomi Redmi 6A at all because of its thick bezels, but note that it comes with a more compact and lightweight body. So it will fit better in pockets and it is also easier to use with one hand.

Display

All the displays of these handsets are sufficient IPS panels, but their resolution is only HD, so do not expect a huge level of detail. My favorite display is the one of the Realme C1 2019 because it is slightly wider and it is protected by Gorilla Glass 3, so it is harder to crack and scratch. But when it comes to viewing quality, I cannot find noticeable differences between all the displays of these phones. So we suggest you choose only by basing on the dimensions and the build quality. In case you hate notches, note that Xiaomi Redmi 6A is notchless.

Specs & Software

Under this point of view, the chipset makes the difference. And the most powerful chipset is the one found on the Honor Play 8A. The new entry-level phone from Huawei’s sub-brand is one of the very first to be equipped with a MediaTek Helio P35 SoC, that is more or less at the same level as the Snapdragon 632 by Qualcomm. Unlike its rivals, this device also comes with up to 64 GB of internal storage and it supports a dedicated micro SD slot, so you do not have to renounce to the dual SIM functionality in order to expand the internal storage. The second place when it comes to hardware and performances goes to the Realme C1 2019 and its Snapdragon 450 chipset. Honor Play 8A is the only device to run Android 9 Pie out of the box, while its opponents are still based on Android Oreo, even though Realme C1 was released months after.

Camera

Honor Play 8A features a much better rear camera than Realme C1 2019 and Xiaomi Redmi 6A. Realme C1 2019 should be only better at calculating depth info with its secondary sensor, but Honor Play 8A shots brighter and more detailed photos. Even the front camera, with its 8 MP resolution, is a lot better on the Honor Play 8A. The worst camera phone is the Xiaomi Redmi 6A, but it still delivers a sufficient camera quality if we consider that it is an entry-level phone sold for less than €100.

Battery

Realme C1 2019 is one of the best phones in the whole market for battery life. It has a huge 4230 mAh battery and its hardware components are not energy-demanding. The HD display and the Snapdragon 450 chipset are very efficient and do not require a lot of energy even for the most demanding tasks. Realme C1 wins the battery comparison, while between Honor Play 8A and Xiaomi Redmi 6A there are just marginal differences in battery life, in every scenario.

Price

Realme C1 is definitely a great experiment. I would personally pick it from this trio because it has a much longer battery life, a better build quality, and decent performances. But I think that the Honor Play 8A would be better for a lot of people due to its better camera capabilities and its higher performances. If you care more about camera and performances, go for the Honor Play 8A, but if you want above-average battery life, that I define the most important thing for entry-level phones, choose the Realme C1 (2019). Honor Play 8A costs about €100/$115, Realme C1 debuted in India with a price tag slightly superior to €90/$102 and Xiaomi Redmi 6A costs about €90/$102.

On top of that, you can use coupon code 12B86GB and bring the already lowered retail price of the Mi 8 further down to just $347.64 before placing your order.

You can follow this link to take full advantage of this discount, which is now available on the black as well as blue color versions of the Mi 8 smartphone.

Design

Meizu C9 has the cleanest and most interesting design, with narrower bezels around the display, but Nokia 3.1 is the most compact phone. All of these handsets are made of polycarbonate and do not feature a premium design, so you should make a choice based on your tastes. Xiaomi Redmi 6A is similar to full metal unibody phones and some may like it, but it is just plastic. On the other hand, it has the thinnest body with just 8.3 mm.

Display

Thanks to the IGZO technology, Meizu C9 can provide a better display quality which results in a high brightness, a fast response and less energy consumption. Nokia 3.1 has a smaller display which makes the phone more compact and easy to use with just one hand, and it is also the only one to feature the Gorilla Glass protection by Corning making it more resistant. Xiaomi Redmi 6A’s display has really nothing special, it is just a sufficient IPS entry-level panel.

Specs & Software

When it comes to hardware, the champion is definitely Xiaomi Redmi 6A because it is equipped with a more powerful SoC. We are talking about the Helio A22 by MediaTek running at a max frequency of 2 GHz and realized with a 12 nm production process. Further, Xiaomi Redmi 6A has a dedicated micro SD slot. Nokia 3.1 comes with a sufficient MediaTek SoC, while Meizu C9 has the new Unisoc SC9832E which does not seem so convincing with its 1.3 GHz. Note that while Xiaomi Redmi 6A and Meizu C9 have custom user interfaces (MIUI and Flyme OS), Nokia 3.1 comes with the stock Android One updated in a faster and more constant way directly by Google.

Camera

The most impressive camera department is the one on board of the Nokia 3.1. It features a rear 13 MP sensor with a f/2.0 and an 8 MP front camera with exactly the same aperture as well as the HDR technology. It is able to shoot better photos and selfies, but it still remains an entry-level camera phone. At the second place, we put Meizu C9 because of its pretty nice front camera for a device sold at just €60. The worst one seems to be the Xiaomi Redmi 6A because of its average selfie camera.

Battery

All of these devices provide more or less the same battery capacity and they can reach one day with a moderate use thanks to their well-optimized energy consumptions. We still did not test the Meizu C9, but the results obtained by Nokia 3.1 convinced us slightly less because it does not last very long in some scenarios. Usually, Xiaomi optimizes its phones better in terms of consumption, but we still have to see how Meizu C9 performs.

Price

After the first week, Meizu C9 will cost about €90, while Nokia 3.1 are available at prices of €90 and €150. The phone with the best value for money is currently the Xiaomi Redmi 6A, I would pick it for its good performance, its micro SD dedicated slot, and its long-lasting battery. But if you want a stock and bloatware-free operating system which gets faster updates, Nokia 3.1 is better. Even if it does not have the best hardware, the stock Android experience on a small and entry-level might make the difference for some users.

On top of that, we’ll show how you can get an extra discount at the time of checking out.

Xiaomi Redmi 6A (2GB RAM+16GB ROM)

Xiaomi made the long-awaited Redmi 6A smartphone available to the public this year in June. While it garnered huge popularity among smartphone lovers, the Redmi 6A failed to lure those living on a tight budget, but that’s about to change.

Xiaomi is now offering the coveted Redmi 6A smartphone for a heavily discounted price of just $110.99 on Banggood. This is a significant 19% reduction in the device’s original asking price, which can be lowered even further simply by applying coupon code 12BGR6A while checking out.
The coupon helps you bring your already reduced grand total down to just $99.63. In other words, you end up getting an extra $11.36 without breaking much of a sweat. While this discount will specifically be valid for the black-tinted Redmi 6A, you can get a 10% off on the gold version of the smartphone as well by following this link.

Get Xiaomi Redmi 6A 2GB+16GB at $99.69

Xiaomi Redmi 6 (3GB RAM+64GB ROM)

The Redmi 6 smartphone was launched in June this year. This feature-laden smartphone has now gone up for sale bearing a reduced price tag of just $143.61 on Banggood. This is a 16% drop in the device’s retail price of $169.99. You can choose between gold and black color versions of the smartphone.

More importantly, you can get an extra discount by using coupon code 12BGXR66 at the time of checking out. The aforesaid coupon helps you save an extra $14.36 by bringing your grand total down to just $129.25.

You can head straight to this link if you’re interested in grabbing the discount before the promo ends.

Get Xiaomi Redmi 6 3GB+64GB at $129.25

Xiaomi Mi A2 (4GB RAM+64GB ROM)

Xiaomi took the wraps off its hotly anticipated Mi A2 smartphone in July this year. While it grabbed everyone’s attention with an eye-catching 5.99 Inch FHD+ (2160*1080 pixels) display and other awe-inspiring features, the phone didn’t come cheap.

Design

If the design is important for you, we have bad news. All of these devices have a plastic body instead of a glass or metal body that you usually find on mid-rangers and flagships. But Lenovo K9 is almost as beautiful as glass devices thanks to its reflective back which reminds a lot of Honor devices with glass backs. Instead, Asus Zenfone Lite L1 and Xiaomi Redmi 6A have a more anonymous plastic design which is all but attractive.

Display

Given that these devices have a very similar viewing quality as they are low-end IPS panel with HD+ resolution, the only important difference between them is the size. With 5.7 inches, Lenovo K9 has a bigger display than its opponents, and this is important if we think that most of people prefer bigger displays. However, this makes the handset have a lower level of detail due to the lower pixel density, as well as a bigger overall size.

Specs & Software

Lenovo K9 has the most powerful hardware side as it features a midrange processor, while the other twos have an entry-level SoC. Lenovo K9 boasts an octa-core Helio P22 chipset by MediaTek running at a max frequency of 2 GHz. Note that it is only available with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage, while its opponents have a more affordable 2/16 GB configuration. Xiaomi Redmi 6A is the only one with a customized UI (MIUI) and should receive more software support in the long term.

Camera

When it comes to the camera department, Lenovo K9 is the most interesting handset as it sports four cameras: two on the back and two on the front with a front-facing LED flash. These cameras allow capturing depth info in a more accurate way in order to deliver a better bokeh effect. On the other hand, Asus Zenfone Lite L1 has a brighter aperture for the rear camera and this should allow capturing more light for better shots in low light conditions. But overall, Lenovo K9 wins.

Battery

We got no much to say about the batteries as they all feature the same capacity: 3000 mAh. And given that Zenfone Lite L1 and Lenovo K9 are still not in the market, we can not test the battery life personally. So it is a draw for now.

Price

Asus Zenfone Lite L1 just debuted in India with a price tag of about €80, Xiaomi Redmi 6A can be found at around €90 and Lenovo K9 carries a price tag of about €100. I would personally spend those €20 more to grab a unit of Lenovo K9, the winner of this comparison.

For some time, we have seen a consistency in the use of Qualcomm chipsets in the company’s phones especially the ones shipping to India. However, Xiaomi has announced that the Redmi 6 and 6A will be the first of its phones in four years that will be launched with MediaTek chipsets.

Even when Xiaomi began manufacturing the phones in India, only Qualcomm models were released all along. That is because Xiaomi has been enmeshed in a lawsuit with Ericsson which accused the Chinese phone maker of patent infringement and dragged it before an Indian court in 2014. Ericsson asked the court to ban Xiaomi from selling mobile phones in India and since then the company has been unable to sell non-Qualcomm phones in the Indian market. Apparently, Qualcomm has the required patent which Ericsson is claiming. Ericsson announced on Wednesday that it has not resolved the dispute with Xiaomi, but Xiaomi has obtained the court’s permission to sell MediaTek’s mobile phone products in the Indian market. According to the court’s interim order, Xiaomi can sell MediaTek’s handsets in India, but must temporarily pay patent tax for mobile phone sold during the period of the court trial. Xiaomi’s official statement is somewhat contradictory as it claims Xiaomi’s lawsuit with Ericsson has ended. That the company is now allowed to export MediaTek chips to India.

MediaTek is one major part supplier for the company since it began producing smartphones as it supplies the company chipsets for its Redmi and Redmi Note series models. Although Xiaomi phones mainly use Qualcomm Snapdragon chip which could be as a result of the 2014 lawsuit, the company began integrating MediaTek chipset right from the Redmi 1 in 2013 and later on the Redmi Note 3G when it launched in 2014. The popular Redmi Note 3 came with a MediaTek as well as a Qualcomm chip version. The Redmi 6 runs on Helio P22 chipset while the Redmi 6A runs on Helio A22.

Ericsson had accused Xiaomi of infringing its patent (SEP) which is said to be an essential core technology for communications equipment. The GSM, GPRS, EDGE and WCDMA radio technologies used in mobile phones have been patented by Ericsson. Apart from Xiaomi, Ericsson also initiated similar lawsuits against Gionee, Intex and Micromax.

If you’ve restlessly been waiting to get your hands on a Xiaomi-branded smartphone without emptying your pocket, you’ve come to the right place. We’ll not only shed light on a few unmissable discounts but also show how you can save a considerable amount of extra money on well-received smartphones from the Chinese handset manufacturer.

Xiaomi Mi A2

Launched in July 2018, the Mi A2 is one Xiaomi’s most popular smartphones. It sports a mammoth 5.99-inch touchscreen display with a screen resolution of 1080 X 2160 pixels and is crammed with an array of other awe-inspiring features.

The 6GB RAM+128GB ROM version of the phone usually carries a $399.99 price tag, but you can now buy it at a dropped price of just $285.99 on Banggood. Moreover, you can apply coupon code BGA212812th to get an extra $16 off and bring your grand total further down to only $269.99.

Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite

The equally well-received Mi A2 Lite was made available to the public in July this year. Just like its precursor, the phone became an instant hit among Xiaomi fans. Taking its popularity into consideration, Xiaomi is currently offering a 23% off on the 4GB RAM+64GB ROM version of the smartphone, which normally sells for $259.99 on Banggood.

Thanks to the aforesaid discount, the Mi A2 Lite is currently up for grabs at a lowered price of just $199.99. In order to get an additional $20.10 off, all you need to do is to apply coupon code BGA2L4612th while checking out.

The 6GB RAM+64GB ROM version of the Mi8 is now available at a reduced price of $419.99 on Banggood. While this is a significant 33% reduction in the phone’s retail price, you can save an extra $20 simply by using coupon code BGM86412TH at the time of checking out.

The Chinese tech giant is set to battle for the leadership of the television market in Indonesia with the likes of Samsung, LG, Panasonic and others. The affordable Mi TV 4A 32-inch model is the company’s first smart TV to go official in Indonesia. The price of the cheap Mi TV 4A gets even cheaper in Indonesia where it is priced way cheaper than the 32-inch models by other competing brands. To complement the TV segment, Xiaomi also launched the Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A budget smartphones.

The Xiaomi Mi TV 4A (32 inches) uses a plastic housing with its entire body coming in black colour. As a result of the plastic body in use, the new Mi TV 4A comes with a highly reduced weight which is just 3.9Kg, making it suitable to be easily carried around. When the base is attached to the TV frame, the weight goes up to 3.94Kg.

On the specifications, the Mi TV 4A features a 32-inch display with a rather disappointing resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels and refresh rate of 60Hz. The TV has a viewing angle of 178 degrees. It is powered by a Quad-core 1.5GHz processor having four Cortex-A53 cores. The graphic is powered by a Mali-450 MP3 GPU while the processor is supported by 1GB of RAM and there is 4GB of storage space available inside. The Mi TV 4A (32) also comes with two 5W stereo speakers while available interface includes two HDMI, an AV port, an S/PDIF output, DTMB, USB port and a connector. The Mi TV 4A 32-inch version also runs Xiaomi TV PatchWall system meaning it has some smart features such as content recommendation according to user’s habit, seamless streaming of content and others.

As for the price, the Mi TV 4A 32-inch comes in at Rp. 1,999,000 which is about $134. You’ll agree this is an amazing price tag. It is even cheaper than the 1,099 yuan ($163) price tag with which it was unveiled in China last year. The smart TV will go on pre-order on Lazada on September 6 while open sales will commence on September 20 via Mi.com while offline sales on Mi authorized stores across Indonesia will commence on September 29.

The new variant is a 4GB RAM+64GB storage version which is quite a surprise considering that the Redmi 4A and 5A didn’t have such memory configuration but only got 3GB + 32GB variants. As a matter of fact, it is difficult to find budget devices with 4GB+64GB variants. In this case, the device still retains the budget pricing consistent with the Redmi 6A as it costs just 999 yuan ($151).

The Xiaomi Redmi 6A comes with a 5.45-inch HD+ display and is powered by a 12nm Helio A22 processor clocked at 2.0GHz. It has a single 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing camera with portrait mode. As with its predecessors, there is no fingerprint scanner on the Redmi 6A but it is equipped with AI Face Unlock. In addition, the device is also equipped with an AI assistant that helps with translations, exchange rate conversion, and can even identify the calories in your food simply by pointing the camera at the food. The device is also fuelled by a 3000mAh battery and has other features like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, a hybrid dual SIM slot, and a 3.5mm audio jack but no IR sensor. It also gets its interface from Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI 10.

Recall that we had seen renders alleged to be those of the Redmi 6 Plus and the display had the notch design to the chagrin of “notch haters” who can’t bear to see another smartphone with such design. Thankfully, the Redmi 6 and 6A don’t have any cutout on their display and the notch-bearing Redmi 6 Plus wasn’t announced today. Here are some official pictures of the Redmi models showing the entire design.

The Redmi 6 and 6A are successors to the Redmi 5A and Redmi 5 but their designs are hardly similar. One star difference is that the Redmi 5 presented with a 5.7-inch IPS LCD display with 18:9 aspect ratio but the REdmi 6 comes with a smaller 5.45-inch display. The display isn’t really small but the 18:9 aspect ratio gives it a portable frame. Both models adopt dual camera setups at their rear with the Redmi 6 equally packing a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The Redmi 6 also comes with a metal body while the 6A utilises plastic for its back panel. Both models shun the design where the speaker grills are placed at the bottom edge but instead, their own grills are located at the back.

The Redmi 6 comes with an AI dual camera comprised of a 12MP primary sensor and a 5MP depth of field sensor. The dual camera offers stunning portrait shots and background blur. Xiaomi did share some camera samples captured using the Redmi 6 dual camera and the pictures are pretty impressive for a budget phone.
