Samsung’s Galaxy Ring has been a hot topic of discussion over the last few weeks since its announcement last month. The brand confirmed some additional key details about the wearable device at the recently concluded MWC. Even so, more information is surfacing about the Galaxy Ring, this time by the folks over at CNET. In the latest development, we get to learn about the smart ring’s sizes, battery capacities, and compatibility.

Samsung Galaxy Ring more details confirmed

The folks at CNET got a hands-on experience of the Galaxy Ring at MWC. The smallest size of the wearable device is said to be 2.3 grams whereas the largest option tips the scales at 2.9 grams. This is significantly lighter when compared to Oura ring which weighs between four to six grams.

Samsung says that the smallest prototype ring has a battery capacity of 14.5mAh. It goes up incrementally with the larger models said to be powered by a 21.5mAh cell. Previously, the South Korean brand confirmed that the Galaxy Ring will be able to deliver up to 9 days of battery life.

Lastly, Samsung VP and Head of Digital Health team Hon Park revealed that users can wear the Galaxy Ring and Galaxy Watch together for even better results. It will of course be compatible with Galaxy phones. The executive also clarified that the company is working to ensure that the wearable device is compatible with other Android phones. Unfortunately, it won’t work with iOS which is a bummer.

Samsung Galaxy M15 5G renders reveal familiar design, three color options

Samsung is expanding its popular M series of smartphones, with the Galaxy M15 expected in the coming months. Recently, leaked renders of the device have surfaced online, courtesy of reliable tipster Evan Blass. The renders offer us a sneak peek at the phone’s design and available color options.

The Galaxy M15 bears a resemblance to its predecessors in terms of design. The device has three camera rings on the rear and rounded edges for a comfortable grip.

On the front, it features a full-screen display with a small waterdrop notch and a noticeable chin. The renders shared by the tipster also showcase the phone in three color variants: Silver, Berry Blue, and Smoky Teal.

While the leaked renders don’t disclose much else about the upcoming M-series smartphone, it has been making appearances on certification sites for some time now.

According to these databases, the Galaxy M15 is expected to pack a hefty 6000mAh battery with support for 25W fast charging. It will run on Android 14 out of the box and offer compatibility with both 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi networks.

Furthermore, rumors suggest that the Galaxy M15 5G might be a rebranded version of the Galaxy A15 5G, albeit with minor differences. Thus, the smartphone might feature a Dimensity 6100 Plus chipset and boast a 6.5-inch AMOLED display.

Samsung is also gearing up to unveil the Samsung Galaxy F15 5G on March 4 in India. The company has been dropping hints about its specifications via various teasers while the phone’s Indian price has also been tipped via a leak earlier this week.

Apple’s 2024 iPad Pro may get a thinner design, reveals CAD renders

Apple is rumored to launch updated iPad Pro models as soon as next month, with the most significant change being the introduction of OLED displays for both the 11-inch and 13-inch models. If these rumors hold true, it would be the first time Apple will OLED technology into its iPad lineup.

Switching to OLED displays brings several advantages. OLED panels are notably thinner compared to LCD or mini-LED screens, allowing for slimmer device profiles.

Recently leaked CAD drawings and rumored dimensions of the upcoming tablets support this. The design of the tablets appears to be the same as their predecessors, with the rear camera island positioned in the upper left corner and speakers and USB-C port located at the bottom of the device.

However, the latest rumored dimensions for the upcoming 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Pro models suggest slimmer tablets than their predecessors. Here are the rumored dimensions of the current and upcoming models:

  • Current 11-inch ‌iPad Pro‌: 247.6mm x 178.5mm x 5.9 mm
  • Upcoming 11-inch ‌iPad Pro‌: 249.7mm x 177.5mm x 5.1mm
  • Current 12.9-inch ‌iPad Pro‌: 280.6mm x 214.9mm x 6.4mm
  • Upcoming 13-inch ‌iPad Pro‌: ~281.5mm x 215.5mm x 5.0mm

One noticeable difference between the 2022 and 2024 models is the thickness. The 13-inch model is reportedly 1.4mm thinner (5.0mm vs 6.4mm), while the 11-inch model is 0.8mm thinner (5.1mm vs 5.9mm).

This reduction in thickness can be attributed to the adoption of OLED panels, which require fewer layers compared to the previous LCD panels.

Besides this, the iPad Pro (2024) will also receive an upgrade under the hood, transitioning from the 5nm Apple M2 chipset to the more advanced 3nm M3.

Additionally, there have been discussions about adding support for MagSafe charging, and consumers may also see a refreshed Magic Keyboard and a new Apple Pencil.

Lenovo laptop with Snapdragon X Elite processor appears on Geekbench

Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon X Elite processor in October 2023, with plans for it to power upcoming Windows laptops in 2024. This processor boasts the custom-designed Qualcomm Oryon CPU, promising better performance compared to its competitors.

However, recent benchmarks of a Lenovo laptop featuring this chip reveal performance scores that fall short of Qualcomm’s initial claims.

In the Geekbench 6.2 tests, the Snapdragon X Elite scored 1,628 points in single-core performance and 11,392 points in multi-core. These scores are notably lower than Qualcomm’s own benchmark results (2,777/14,056 at 23 Watts, 2,966/15,239 at 80 Watts).

The specific wattage at which this chip operates isn’t specified, but the configuration confirms an 8+4 CPU core setup.

The cause of this underperformance isn’t clear, but the benchmark results point towards inconsistent clock speeds, indicating that the chip might be a pre-production sample in need of optimization.

In separate tests where the chip was evaluated individually, it performed better, achieving a single-core score of 2,574 and a multi-core score of 12,562. This suggests that the Lenovo laptop used for the initial benchmarks may require further optimization.

The tested Lenovo laptop also features an unnamed Adreno GPU, which similarly exhibited subpar performance in benchmarks, likely again due to the pre-production state of the chip. The GPU scored just 10 points in the Geekbench OpenCL benchmark.

The laptop comes equipped with 32GB of RAM and runs on a Windows 11 Pro Insider Preview build.

While the Snapdragon X Elite holds potential for Windows laptops, the initial benchmark results indicate that Qualcomm has some optimization work to do before the chip is ready for market release.

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE’s first details leaked, future S-series flagships may feature only Exynos chips

In January, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra in different markets. The lineup is also expected to include a fourth model dubbed the Galaxy S24 FE, which will arrive as a successor to the Galaxy S23 FE from last year. While there is no official confirmation of the existence of the S24 FE, it is expected to go official in October of this year, as the S23 FE was unveiled in October 2023. Well ahead of the expected launch, tipster Connor has leaked the first details of the device.

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE key specifications (rumored)

Samsung Galaxy S23 FE

According to the tipster, the Galaxy S24 FE will have 12 GB of LPDDR5x RAM. It will arrive in two storage options, such as 218 GB (UFS 3.1) and 256 GB (UFS 4.0). The device will pack a 4,500mAh battery. While the leak does not say about the charging capabilities, it is expected to offer 25W wired charging and 15W wireless charging like its predecessor.

It goes without saying that the Galaxy S24 FE will have an AMOLED display, but the leaker is unsure about the size. The other details of the smartphone are under wraps.

The S23 FE was released with the Exynos 2200 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipsets in different markets. However, another X post from the tipster suggests that the S24 FE will have an Exynos chip for the global market.

He has also claimed Samsung’s Z series of foldable phones will feature Snapdragon chipsets, whereas the S-series will only have Exynos chipsets onboard. As far as future Galaxy A-series phones are concerned, the tipster claims that they will have MediaTek and Exynos chipsets. It appears that this is also applicable to M-series and F-series phones, which are nothing but tweaked versions of A-series phones.
