Sony launched the PS5 Slim in October last year. It was only available in the White color option. Now, just a few months later, the Japanese brand has announced three new colors of the latest console at the CES 2024. They are essentially side plates that can be purchased separately.
Sony PS5 Slim gets new color options
Sony has introduced the PS5 Sllim in Volcanic Red, Cobalt Blue, and Sterling Silver color options. These are a part of the Deep Earth collection which is the same as the original PS5 console. The DualSense controllers also match the console’s colors. The new side plates have an all-matte finish instead of the glossy and matte on the standard White color option. The colors are quite vibrant and the Sterling Silver option evokes the original PlayStation’s nostalgia giving a throwback for all PlayStation fans.
The newly announced side plates are priced at $54.99 and can be purchased separately. Users who already own the console can change the side plates. Sony says that the new colors will go on sale soon. Additionally, an all-matte Black side plate will also be released soon. It’s worth noting that the Deep Earth collection is limited to the disc version of the PS5 Slim.
The Sony PS5 Slim is a slimmer and thinner version of the standard PS5 with a detachable disc drive. The storage is also bumped up to 1TB and there is a second USB-C port on the front. However, the latest console packs the same hardware power.
Whether a small company engaged in e-commerce on Amazon or a billion-dollar tech giant, you likely know that having a good product alone isn’t enough to succeed. You must reach the right target audience and follow the correct advertising strategy. Recently, Honor successfully did just that by introducing new products like Magic 6, Magic 6 Pro, and Magic V2 Porsche Design. The company’s CEO, Zhao Ming, officially announced Jackie Chan as the brand’s Dragon Year ambassador.
Jackie Chan Becomes Honor’s Brand Ambassador
Jackie Chan is undoubtedly one of the most famous actors of all time. While this name may not be very familiar to Generation Z today, there is no doubt that he is a legend for many people born before 2000. Moreover, Chan is a much more famous name in his homeland, China, than in the West. Therefore, many brands aim to collaborate with him and leverage his fame. The latest company to achieve this is Honor.
Actually, it had been known for a while that Honor would appoint a famous figure as an ambassador. In fact, rumors surfaced yesterday before the launch that a celebrity was present for the event. While everyone was curious about the identity, Honor CEO Zhao Ming officially revealed that Jackie Chan is the brand’s Dragon Year ambassador.
When announcing Jackie Chan as the brand’s Dragon Year ambassador, Zhao Ming said that in Honor’s philosophy, the dragon not only represents a high-ranking status, but also symbolizes a heart that constantly pursues excellence. Honor hopes to turn the name “Jackie Chan” into the best wishes, wishing everyone in the new year to soar like a dragon and achieve their own glory. In the future, Honor will work with Dragon Year Ambassador Jackie Chan to bring a series of new year themed activities, services and benefits, with the aim of bringing the warmth of technology to more consumers.

Apple is set to launch its first mixed reality headset, the Vision Pro after a long wait. The device will be available for pre-order in the United States on January 19th, with the official sale starting on February 2nd. And people are already curious about whether the headset will be successful or not. Ay you know Apple is good at not making mistakes. The company don’t make too many new products, but when they do, they usually do well. Although our curiosity will be satisfied soon, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has given us a hint by sharing the sales forecast. Here are the details…
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo Forecasting the Success of Apple Vision Pro Headset
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo shared his predictions about Vision Pro on Twitter. According to him, the company won’t take excessive risks with the new mixed reality headset. Initially, there will be 60,000 to 80,000 Vision Pro units for launch, which might seem sufficient for a product valued at $3,499. However, considering the substantial number of YouTubers likely to purchase it just for reviewing, Kuo anticipates a rapid sell-out of the product by Apple.
Apple will produce 60,000 to 80,000 units of Vision Pro for the February 2 release. Since the shipment is not large, I believe that Vision Pro will sell out soon after the release.
Although Apple has not clearly defined the product positioning and key applications of Vision Pro… https://t.co/miktcS0aSK
While selling all the products at hand may be a success for Apple, the crucial factor is how long this momentum will last. Innovative technologies like users controlling the interface with their minds, as mentioned by Kuo, may seem sufficient initially, but the key is whether they are genuinely practical or not. Remember, once VR headsets that could be used with your phone were everywhere, with various manufacturers, including Samsung, releasing similar headsets. However, users soon realized that this early-stage technology had little to offer after spending 20 minutes, leading to a decline in interest.
Apple Vision Pro
Of course, I’m not comparing the Apple Vision Pro with a cheap VR headset for smartphones that Samsung released a decade ago. I’m simply highlighting that, despite the initial excitement for an expensive and new product, this interest might decrease over time. Therefore, it’s crucial for the company to provide support for applications, games, and diverse usage situations. Fortunately, Apple seems to have considered what a humble tech editor thinks, so we don’t need to worry beyond figuring out where to get $3,499.
Honor X9b was first announced back in October 2023. Now, it seems like the company is planning to release this device in the Indian market as well. This follows after the brand’s recent return to the region under the HTech branding.
Honor X9b India Launch Teased
The teasers arrive from the Indian head, Madhav Sheth, who shared a new video on X (formerly Twitter). Looking at the online post, we can see the senior official teasing a new smartphone launch by unboxing a new device. The smartphone in question features a large circular camera island at the back, which resembles the Honor X9b model that was previously released in the Chinese market.
Honor X9b
To recall, the Honor X9b is a mid range smartphone that sports a tall 6.78-inch AMOLED display that offers a 1.5K resolution. The brand even teased the durability of the device’s screen. Under the hood, it is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 SoC that is paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. A massive 5,800mAh battery pack powers this smartphone, which also supports 35W fast charging.
The rear features a 108-megapixel triple camera setup, while the front houses a 16-megapixel selfie shooter. Honor X9b runs on the Android 13 OS based Magic UI 7.2 custom skin out of the box. Other notable features include 5G connectivity, WiFi 6, GPS, Bluetooth 5.1, and an under-display fingerprint scanner.
As it does every year, Apple released its proxy statement to investors on Thursday, detailing executives’ pay alongside other information. And, as expected, the statement also reveals CEO Tim Cook’s compensation for 2023.
Turns out, Tim Cook earned $63.2 million from Apple in 2023. This sum exceeds his initial target of $49 million earnings in 2023 by 28%. This comes after a year where he exceeded his initial $84 million target by a significant margin, ultimately receiving $99.4 million in 2022.
The breakdown of Cook’s 2023 compensation shows a $3 million salary, $46.9 million in stock awards, $10.7 million in performance incentives, and $2.5 million in other compensations. While the sum is a 36% decrease compared to his 2022 earnings, Cook has still surpassed the lowered target set for 2023.
Separately, as per the company’s 2017 policy requiring Cook’s use of a private jet for business and personal travel, Apple incurred $1,621,468 in personal air travel expenses for him in 2023. This is more than twofold increase compared to 2022. Additionally, Apple spent $820,309 on Cook’s personal security, calculated based on the incremental costs associated with dedicated security services.
The proxy statement also sheds light on the broader employee compensation picture at Apple. The median annual compensation for Apple employees in 2023 stood at $94,118. This translates to a staggering 672-to-1 pay ratio between Cook’s earnings and the median employee’s.
Beyond the CEO, the compensation details of other top executives were also revealed. Luca Maestri (Chief Financial Officer) earned $26.9 million, Kate Adams (General Counsel and Secretary) received $26.9 million, Deirdre O’Brien (Senior Vice President of Retail) received $26.9 million, and Jeff Williams (Chief Operating Officer) received $26.9 million.
We are only two weeks into 2024 and there have already been multiple smartphone releases. Thankfully, the next week will be slow. However, an important event is scheduled.
Samsung will take wraps off its latest flagship smartphones — the Galaxy S24 series. The lineup will include three models, namely Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Plus, and Galaxy S24 Ultra.
These devices will arrive with several upgrades along with slight design changes. They are said to be developed around ‘Galaxy AI.’
The trio will be unveiled at the first Galaxy Unpacked event of 2024 on January 17. The conference will begin at 6 PM GMT.
The most affordable phone will get an upgrade to a 6.2-inch LTPO (1-120Hz) AMOLED display. However, the panel’s resolution will remain at 2340 x 1080 pixels (FHD+).
It will be powered by an Exynos 2400 chipset in most regions. But in some, it will house a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC.
The rear camera system will include a 50MP primary sensor, a 12MP ultrawide unit, and a 10MP 3x telephoto shooter. On the front, it will have a 12MP selfie camera.
The battery will be slightly larger at 4,000mAh but it will be limited to 25W wired and 15W wireless charging standards.
It will also come with an armor aluminum frame, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus Armor, IP68 rating, Samsung DeX, and USB 3.2 Gen 1 port.
2. Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus
The Galaxy S24 Plus will also flaunt an LTPO (1-120Hz) AMOLED display measuring 6.7 inches. Additionally, the screen’s resolution will be sharper at QHD+ (3120 x 1440 pixels).
It will also house the same Exynos 2400 chip in most markets and Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset in some. A larger 4,900mAh will run the show supporting 45W wired as well as 15W wireless charging standards.
The camera system will be identical to the one found on the S24. Thus, it will sport a 50MP (wide) + 12MP (ultrawide) + 10MP triple camera setup on the rear and a 12MP front-facing shooter.
Other features will include USB 3.2 Gen 1 port, UWB, IP68 rating, Samsung DeX, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus Armor, and armor aluminum frame.
3. Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra
Unlike the other two models, the Galaxy S24 Ultra will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip in all markets. It will no longer sport a curved display. However, its 6.8-inch screen will continue to be LTPO (1-120Hz) with a QHD+ (3120 x 1440 pixels) resolution.
The device’s quad-camera system will consist of a 200MP primary sensor, a 12MP ultrawide unit, a 10MP 3x telephoto snapper, and a 50MP 5x periscope telephoto shooter. On the front, it will be equipped with a 12MP selfie camera.
The handset will retain the S Pen from its predecessors. It will also arrive with IP68 rating, UWB, Samsung DeX, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus Armor, and titanium frame.
Finally, it will draw energy from a 5,000mAh battery and support 45W wired as well as 15W wireless charging standards.

Lenovo Xiaoxin Mini PC Pricing and Availability
Lenovo launched the Xiaoxin Mini PC earlier today and it is currently available for pre-orders. It has a starting price tag of 3,299 Yuan (roughly 465 US Dollars) for the Intel i5-13420H variant with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. On the other hand, the 16GB + 1TB version of the Intel i5 costs 3,499 Yuan (roughly 493 US Dollars). The higher end Intel i7 models start from 3,999 Yuan (roughly 563 US Dollars) for the 16GB + 1TB configuration, and 4,499 Yuan (roughly 634 US Dollars) for the 32GB + 1TB option.
The Rabbit R1, a new hardware-based AI assistant from startup Rabbit AI, has seen unexpectedly high demand following its reveal at CES earlier this week. The initial 10,000 units sold out within a day, and a second batch met the same fate shortly after. Currently, a third batch is available for pre-order.
The affordable price tag of $199 is likely a major contributor to the R1’s early success. In comparison, the recently launched Humane Ai Pin starts at $699, making the Rabbit a significantly more budget-friendly option.
Rabbit co-designed the R1 with the Swedish company Teenage Engineering. Its goal is to act as a bridge between users and their smartphones, including iPhones and other devices. The Rabbit R1 and its operating system, Rabbit OS, are designed to simplify user interaction with applications.
The R1 has a square, compact design. It’s covered in a red-orange casing and is about half the size of a regular smartphone. Under the hood, a 2.3GHz MediaTek Helio P35 processor and 4GB of RAM power the device, with 128GB of storage and a small 2.88-inch touchscreen.
However, the Rabbit R1 doesn’t handle much processing itself beyond natural language recognition. Instead, it utilizes a “Large Action Model” (LAM) that connects to various third-party app and web-app APIs, including generative AI services like ChatGPT.
This approach, dubbed “outsourcing” by Rabbit, allows the R1 to perform a wide range of tasks without the need for powerful onboard hardware. Users link these services through the Rabbit Hole web portal. Wi-Fi and an optional SIM card slot provide connectivity options.
The R1’s capabilities range from basic tasks like setting alarms and playing music to more complex ones like booking appointments and controlling smart home devices. Additionally, the open platform allows for expansion as new services and apps become available.

Huawei is reportedly working on its next flagship smartphone series, the Huawei P70. While the official release date or specs remain under wraps, leaks have started offering a glimpse of what to expect.
The latest comes from a Weibo tipster Smart Pikachu who revealed in a recent post that the Huawei P70 series will feature curved displays. However, unlike most current flagships, the display resolution may not reach the typical 2K standard. Our best guess is that it could be 1.5K instead.
The tipster also revealed that the base P70 model might be powered by the Kirin 9000S chip, the same one found in the Mate 60 series. It’s an octa-core processor with 1 high-performance core, 3 performance cores, and 4 efficiency cores, alongside a Mali-G710 MC10 GPU.
Another tipster Digital Chat Station recently shared the render of the Huawei P70’s back panel. It shows a change in the camera module design from its predecessor, Huawei P60.
The render depicts a triple-camera setup housed in a large, rounded rectangle module. The lenses are arranged in a triangular form, with the XMAGE branding prominently displayed on the module.
DCS suggests the device will feature a new “variable aperture” main lens and a long-range periscope camera, although we are short of any further details like resolution or image sensors.
While this leak provides some interesting details, it’s important to remember that these are just early rumors, so take them with a pinch of salt. We can expect further information about Huawei P70 series to surface in the coming days.

Xiaomi is expanding its lineup of WiFi 7 routers with the new BE 3600, set to launch on January 30th in China. While the official price remains under wraps, pre-reservations are now open which shows the price will not be more than 299 yuan (around $43).
This makes the BE 3600 Xiaomi’s most affordable Wi-Fi 7 offering, targeting budget-conscious users eager to experience the latest wireless standard.
Xiaomi’s official “Smart Ecosystem” Weibo handle also teased some of the specifications of the device. It reveals that the BE 3600 boasts a 2.5Gbps high-speed network port, a 4-core chip, and IoT connectivity feature to help you manage your smart home devices.
This marks the fourth Wi-Fi 7 router in Xiaomi’s arsenal, joining the likes of the BE 6500 Pro, BE 7000, and the 10 Gigabit router. Among these, the BE 6500 Pro was launched last October with an initial price of 699 yuan (around $100).
The BE 6500 Pro is equipped with a Qualcomm 4-core A53 1.5GHz CPU and 1GB of memory. It utilizes a full 2.5Gbps network port and supports dual WAN and LAN port aggregation, pushing speeds up to 5Gbps. This translates to faster downloads, seamless streaming, and lag-free gaming.
It’s worth noting that Wi-Fi 7, officially known as IEEE 802.11be, is the successor to Wi-Fi 6, marked by the “be” in the model names (similar to “AX” for Wi-Fi 6). So most of the routers compatible with the new standard will have BE in their name.
The WiFi 7 standard boasts impressive features like 320MHz bandwidth, 4096-QAM modulation, and cutting-edge technologies like MRU (Multiple Resource Units) and MLO (Multi-link operation).
This translates to typical speeds around 30Gbps, with peaks exceeding 40Gbps—a massive gain compared to Wi-Fi 6’s 9.6Gbps peak and Wi-Fi 5’s measly 3.5Gbps. That’s up to four times faster than Wi-Fi 6!
A listing on the Best Buy Canada website may have revealed a new version of the PlayStation 5 DualSense controller.
The listing, titled “PlayStation 5 V2 DualSense Wireless Controller – White,” shows a price tag of $89 CAD, the same as the original controller. However, it’s currently unavailable for purchase and has no official release date.
While the images seem identical to the existing DualSense, the listing claims significant internal upgrades. The V2 model is said to retain the haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and microphone of its predecessor, but with key improvements.
The listing boasts a “charging station” with “easy click-in charging” and an “exceptional 12-hour battery life on a full charge,” a notable gain from the current controller’s 5-6 hours. This would significantly reduce the need for frequent charging, especially for users of the battery-hungry DualSense Edge controller.
Sony hasn’t commented on the leak, so it’s important to treat this information with caution. Best Buy could have made a mistake, or the listing could be inaccurate.
However, rumors of a PlayStation State of Play event this month have also surfaced, and an announcement of a new DualSense model could fit perfectly into such an event.
Until we hear from Sony, PlayStation gamers can only hope that the leak is true and that a longer-lasting DualSense controller is on its way.
In related news, Sony has announced new nine games will be arriving for the PlayStation Plus Extra members on January 16th. To know more about the list of titles, you can check here.

Chinese smartphone manufacturers are in the process of developing foldable phones that are lighter in weight. Presently, the Honor Magic V2 holds the title as the lightest horizontally foldable smartphone in the Chinese market, weighing 231 grams. There are indications that the upcoming Vivo X Fold 3, set to launch in Q1 this year, could potentially claim the title of the lightest foldable phone.
Alleged Vivo X Fold 3’s dimensions revealed
Reports have revealed that Vivo is soon going to hold a launch to announce at least three devices, such as the Vivo X100s, the Vivo Pad 3 tablet, and the Vivo X Fold 3 series. The latter is expected to include the X Fold 3 featuring the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip and the X Fold 3 Pro equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC.
According to a recent Weibo post by tipster Digital Chat Station, a forthcoming foldable smartphone is expected to have dimensions of 5mm when unfolded and 10.5mm when folded. Additionally, the post suggests that the device will weigh between 220 grams and 229 grams, with the exact weight falling within this range, estimated at 22x grams.
DCS has previously claimed that the Vivo X Fold 3 will be a thin and lightweight device. Hence, the tipster could be talking about the said device (not the Pro model) in the latest leak.
As per a recent revelation by the same tipster, the Vivo X Fold 3 is anticipated to omit certain features present in the Pro model. These exclusions reportedly include the absence of a periscope telephoto camera, an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, and wireless charging on the standard X Fold 3 variant. Hence, it appears that the X Fold 3, which is expected to carry an affordable price tag, may end up being the lightest foldable phone.
