Microsoft Finds Vulnerabilities in Tool Used by Power Plants and Factories, Which Could Lead to Outages

Microsoft is one of the world’s biggest tech companies, and its products and services are used by billions of people around the world. For example, many government agencies and private businesses in various countries use Microsoft’s products, such as Windows operating systems, Office productivity suite, and Azure cloud computing platform. While this situation gives the company a special access, Microsoft is also doing its part. The company discovered 15 serious flaws in the CODESYS V3 SDK that could turn off power plants.

Microsoft finds vulnerabilities it says could be used to shut down power plants

Recently, Microsoft found some weak spots in a tool that many factories and power plants use. This tool, called CODESYS V3 SDK, helps factories and power plants run smoothly. The danger is, if some “bad guys” find and use these weak spots, they could cause big problems. They could turn off a whole power plant or mess with how things run.

Microsoft Power Plant

Microsoft said that while it’s hard to do this, if someone manages to, it could lead to serious damage. Now, the good news is that Microsoft told Codesys (the company that makes the tool) about these problems. Codesys made a fix, and many factories and power plants have likely already put this fix in place. But for those that haven’t, they need to do it quickly.

However, to use these weak spots, bad guys need to know a lot about the tool and need a special kind of access. A while ago, there was another weak spot (CVE-2019-9013) that, if not fixed, could give them this access. So, factories and power plants need to make sure they’ve fixed that too. But, these types of attacks are rare. And with many factories and power plants likely having fixed the weak spots, big problems seem less likely. However, we are likely to receive bad news in the near future.

LG’s OLED monitor warranty Now Covers Burn-In Effects for Normal Usage

Great news for LG OLED PC monitor owners and those considering purchasing an OLED monitor! LG has just announced that their standard two-year warranty for monitors will now also cover any burn-in effects that have occurred or might occur in the future from normal usage.

LG OLED Flex

As per LG’s statement, everyday uses like desktop applications and gaming fall under “normal” usage. If a scenario arises where burn-in, such as the Windows taskbar, a program icon, or in-game HUD elements, becomes permanent and regular automatic cleaning or maintenance methods no longer resolve the issue, you are entitled to receive repair or replacement under the provided warranty duration.

LG previously had a policy of excluding burn-in from their OLED monitor warranty, but the company has now reversed this decision. Currently, the brand covers OLED burn-in in the US and regions of the EU. That being said, this policy change does not apply to their OLED TVs.

LG OLED Flex

This policy change is likely to encourage more gamers to go for OLED gaming monitors rather than IPS or VA panels. As we know, OLED screens are better than IPS and VA screens in a few big ways. One cool thing is that OLED screens can show really dark blacks and very lively colors because they can turn off each individual pixel. This makes them look way better than IPS or VA screens that aren’t capable of doing this. Also, OLED screens look good even if you’re looking from the side. So, if you’re watching with friends or family, the picture still looks great. OLED screens are great for gaming and applications where smooth motion is important because they have fast response times. They also have a wider range of colors than IPS or VA screens, which makes the visual content more dynamic and lifelike.

Mercedes CLA EV Spied for the First Time, Revealing Stylish New Design

The competition in the electric vehicle market is going strong. But when we look at the market shares, there’s an interesting picture. Despite having over a hundred years of history and industry experience, European and American car giants are lagging behind newer companies like Tesla and BYD in the EV market. Traditional companies are struggling to catch up. Still, Mercedes seems eager to lead this change. The much-awaited 2025 Mercedes CLA EV has been seen. Here are the details…

Mercedes CLA EV to Reveal Concept at Munich Motor Show, Aims for 400-Mile Range

Mercedes-Benz is expanding its product range. Recent spy photos have revealed the company’s next big project, the first all-electric CLA-Class sedan. Like all spy photos, the car was heavily camouflaged. Still, we can get some ideas about it. For example, the front end features a wide grille with a Mercedes-Benz star emblem in the center, flanked by slim headlights.

The side profile is similar to the current CLA-Class, with a sloping roofline and a coupe-like silhouette. The rear end features a sloping trunk lid and slim taillights. Also in the highly anticipated model is its lack of exhaust pipes, which confirms again that it’s fully electric. The vehicle is probably going to be built on Mercedes’ new MMA platform. This platform is made for hybrid and electric cars. Many new Mercedes cars will use this platform in the next few years.

Mercedes has not yet released any official details about the CLA EV, but it’s expected to have a range of around 400 miles (644 km). It’s also likely to be offered in rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. The CLA EV is expected to be unveiled later this year, and it’s likely to go on sale in early 2024. However, it is expected to be revealed this September at the International Motor Show in Munich and it will compete against a growing number of electric luxury sedans, including the Tesla Model 3, the Audi e-tron GT, and the Porsche Taycan.

Now, the former has bagged Malaysia’s SIRIM and Indonesia’s NBTC certification, hinting we might soon get a new mid-ranger. Both listings don’t reveal anything interesting but we do know a thing or two based on the moniker.

OPPO A38 smartphone appeared on Malaysia’s SIRIM certification website with the model number, CPH2579. The handset with the same model number was spotted on the NBTC website. Previous listings have revealed the device will support 4G connectivity with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. It will run ColorOS 13.1 based on Android 13 out of the box.

It could pack a 4880mAh battery, which is likely to be marketed as 5000mAh. Oppo A38 is expected to be a budget smartphone with just enough specifications. Currently, there’s no official confirmation from the brand but we can expect the device to launch in the coming months.

It sports a 6.56-inch LCD panel with a resolution of 1612 x 720 pixels (HD+), a 90Hz refresh rate, and a 180Hz touch sampling rate. Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra camera, processor, battery specs tipped

Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy S24 series early next year, likely in January or February. Anticipation for this series is growing as leaks begin to surface. A reliable tipster Yogesh Brar has shared some key specifications for the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra on platform X (formerly Twitter), shedding light on its potential features.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra key specs (rumored):

Camera Setup:

Brar hints that the S24 Ultra will feature similar quad-camera setup like its predecessor S23 Ultra. This includes a primary 200MP camera, accompanied by a 12MP ultrawide lens, a 50MP telephoto lens, and a 10MP periscope telephoto lens. Additionally, a 12MP front camera is also expected.

Processor:

S24 Ultra might run on either the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 or the Exynos 2400 chipsets. A previous report suggests that the Exynos 2400 processor is expected in European and Southeast Asian regions, while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor version might be offered in American markets.

Samsung-Exynos

Previous models like the Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra only used the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. However, the upcoming Galaxy S23 FE might be available in two versions: Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Exynos 2200.

Battery:

Brar suggests a 5000mAh battery for the S24 Ultra, similar to its predecessor. While it may support a 45W fast charge, there’s talk about using electric vehicle battery technology. If true, this could boost the fast charge capacity up to 65W.

Design:

The design might not see a significant overhaul. It’s said to resemble the S23 Ultra but might swap the aluminum frame for a sturdier titanium one.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Display

Display:

There have been whispers about notable display enhancements for the S24 Ultra. A leak from another tipster, Ice Universe, suggests the phone could feature an upgraded M13 OLED screen. This might offer brighter visuals, possibly reaching 2000 nits, and better energy efficiency.

While more details will likely emerge as the launch date approaches, these initial leaks provide an exciting glimpse into the capabilities of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. Stay tuned for further updates as the tech world eagerly awaits this anticipated release.

X, Formerly Twitter, Rolls Out New “Highlights” Tab for Paid Users

Twitter is going through a fascinating change. For example, after Elon Musk bought it, the platform made several controversial decisions and the platform is now called “X”. This move might sees as a thrown away that almost 20 years of brand reputation. Even though there are constant criticisms, Musk doesn’t plan on stopping. Thankfully, not all his decisions are extreme, some of them is good. Now paid users get a new tab to showcase their posts with “Highlights” tab. Here are the details…

Paid X (Twitter) users can now showcase their best tweets with new “Highlights” tab

As you know, Twitter launched a subscription service called Blue not long ago. Nowadays, this service is also known as X Premium. For a monthly or yearly fee, you get various benefits. Some of the perks include more ads, the ability to edit tweets, and even a share of Twitter’s ad revenue. Now, there’s a new feature called the “Highlights” tab.

Twitter is a platform where new content always stands out. However, users have wanted a way to highlight important or popular tweets for a long time. The company introduced “pinned tweets” a few years ago. With this, users could display any tweet at the top of their profile, no matter its date. Still, this wasn’t enough for many people. The “Highlights” tab might be the solution they’re looking for.

The ‘Highlights’ tab lets paid members show their best posts to followers. It’s great for artists, writers, and reporters, or for sharing about a special topic or event. To use it, paid members tap the three dots on a post and pick “Add to Highlights”. They can decide where to put the post in the Highlights. In addition to the Highlights tab, X has also made TweetDeck a subscriber-only product. This is another move by the company to get more people to pay for its premium service.

This helps dry out the waste quickly and reduces bacteria growth. Plus, there’s no need to transfer trash, which avoids extra mess.

The base station of the J4 vacuum cleaner is loaded with features. It can wash the mop cloth, refill water, add detergent, and dry the cloth with hot air. It can even clean itself. The robot can be controlled through an app where you can specify rooms and add furniture details.

Mapping is crucial for these robots. The J4 uses the IPS4.0 Whale Sense Perception System with three lasers to measure space and avoid obstacles efficiently. It also can remember dirty areas and clean them multiple times if needed. Edges and corners get special attention too. For carpets, the J4 can adjust its suction and avoid long carpets.

The J4 Lite, though cheaper, still has a strong 6800Pa suction and can handle hair well. Its dustbin can hold up to 1L and has an integrated filter.
