Redmi 12 could be a new budget smartphone, appears on IMEI & FCC

Redmi’s budget smartphones are just as popular as its mid-range Note series phones. The company has recently introduced the affordable Redmi 12C to the global market, and it has also launched the Redmi A1 and A2 phones. Now, it appears that Xiaomi’s subsidiary is preparing to launch a new budget phone called the Redmi 12. Evidence of the device has been found on both the US FCC and IMEI websites. Although details are limited, we have learned a few things about the phone.

Redmi 12 might debut soon

As its name suggests, the Redmi 12 could be a new budget smartphone from the brand. While the company has yet to officially confirm the device, it has been listed on the IMEI database, which confirms its name and model number as 23053RN02L. Separately, a different version of the phone with the model number 23053RN02Y has been spotted on the FCC website.

According to the authority, the Redmi 12 will launch as a 4G smartphone that comes pre-installed with MIUI 14. While we expect the software to be based on Android 13, it’s difficult to say for sure with Redmi, as the company recently released an update for the Redmi Note 12 Pro phones that was based on Android 12 but still carried the MIUI 14 branding.

In addition, the FCC has revealed that the smartphone will come with a charging adapter that has the model number MDY-12-EA and supports 33W fast charging. We can speculate that the Redmi 12 will have a battery capacity of at least 5000mAh. Other specifications of the smartphone are still under wraps. We hope to learn more through various leaks and rumors. Stay tuned for the updates.

Samsung offers refurbished Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra in the US

Samsung has expanded its Certified Re-Newed program in the US by including last year’s flagship Galaxy S22 models in its offering. The program offers refurbished smartphones at a lower price point, with the reassurance of a brand-new battery and a 1-year warranty. Compared to refurbished phones sold on Amazon, Samsung’s program offers the additional advantage of maintaining the device’s waterproof seal.

Samsung Galaxy S22 series

The refurbished Galaxy S22 is available in two storage options of 128GB and 256GB, priced at $619 and $669 respectively. The Galaxy S22 Ultra is also available in two storage variants of 128GB and 256GB, priced at $919 and $1,019 respectively. The Galaxy S22+ comes in only a 128GB storage option and is priced at $769.

While Samsung’s refurbished phones may come at a higher price point than those sold on Amazon, the additional benefits are worth considering for those in the market for a high-end smartphone. The brand-new battery ensures that the device can operate at its best, while the warranty provides customers with peace of mind. Moreover, the ability to use the phone underwater without any worries is a significant advantage, making the refurbished Galaxy S22 models almost as good as brand-new ones.

The launch of Samsung’s Certified Re-Newed Galaxy S22 models is good news for budget-conscious smartphone buyers who are looking for a flagship phone without paying the full price. However, with the price difference between refurbished and brand-new phones being relatively small, some buyers may opt to go for the latest model, the Galaxy S23, instead. Nonetheless, Samsung’s program offers a viable option for those who want a high-quality smartphone at a lower cost.

Xiaomi 14 Pro design finalized: Official

The Xiaomi 13 series debuted in China in December. These smartphones were later announced in global markets in late February. Last week, the company took wraps off the Xiaomi 13 Ultra.

All in all, the Xiaomi 13 family is fresh from the oven. However, one of the firm’s executives has already started teasing the design of one of the next-gen phones.

Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra
Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra

According to ITHome, a netizen asked Wei Xu (Design Directory of Xiaomi Industrial Design Department) whether the Xiaomi 14 Pro will feature a design similar to the Mi 11 Ultra.

To this question, the company executive revealed that they have finalized the design of Xiaomi 14 Pro. He further added that this design is ‘more amazing’ than the Mi 11 Ultra.

The Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra had a unique design. It came with a secondary screen on its back for notifications, weather, music playback controls, and more. It actually used Mi Band 5’s display.

The device was the company’s second Ultra smartphone after the Mi 10 Ultra. It was Xiaomi’s first attempt at a camera-focused phone. Just like the current-gen Xiaomi 12 Pro, it had a ceramic back.

As far as the Xiaomi 14 Pro is concerned, we have no details on it. This is the first time we are herding about it, and that too from a company official.

It will likely come with the next-gen Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 series processors and an upgraded camera system. The handset will probably get announced in the last quarter of 2023 in China alongside the vanilla model.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Series Tipped To Be Powered By A New Chipset For Improved Performance

Samsung traditionally announces a new generation of its Galaxy Watch series at an Unpacked event in August. The Galaxy Watch 6 series is also expected to go official at the same time this year. Rumors and leaks about the upcoming smart wearables seem to be gathering pace. Now a new report reveals the chipset details of the Galaxy Watch 6.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 series processor tipped

Samsung Galaxy Watch band

SamMobile reports that the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 series will be powered by an upgraded processor. The chipset is expected to be the Exynos W980. It is said to be more than 10 percent faster than the Exynos W920 that is found on the Galaxy Watch 4 and 5 series. The new SoC on the Watch 6 series also means that Samsung will be upgrading it after two years. The processor wasn’t a part of the upgrade on the Galaxy Watch 5 models.

The Exynos W980 is yet to be announced. The chipset may be based on Samsung’s 5nm process. This could also result in better battery life.

Apart from the aforementioned information, the report does not reveal any additional details about the Galaxy Watch 6 series. Past leaks suggest that the South Korean brand’s next-generation wearables will have a bigger and high-resolution display with thin bezels. They are also rumored to pack larger batteries. A report by last month revealed that Samsung might bring back the fan-favorite rotating bezel but only for one Galaxy Watch 6 model.
