Leaked Image Shows OnePlus 11R With a OnePlus 11-Like Design

OnePlus 11 will be announced globally at Cloud 11 event in India on February 7. While it will be the star of the show, some attention will also be drawn to the more-affordable OnePlus 11R, which is debuting on the same day. The two handsets will be arriving with different hardware specs, but aesthetically they may look very similar, at least that’s what a new leaked image suggests.

Popular leakster Ice Universe has shared an image of the alleged OnePlus ACE 2, which should be called the OnePlus 11R in the global market. We are saying this because the OnePlus ACE was rebranded as OnePlus 10R internationally. As can be seen in the image, the 11R looks essentially the same as the standard OnePlus 11 with a few differences here and there.

OnePlus 11R image

For instance, there’s no Hasselblad branding on the camera island and the telephoto camera appears to be missing. Also, the glittery texture on the back has been replaced with a matt finish. These changes are understandable as the brand aims to make OnePlus 11R a more affordable device. OnePlus reserves Hasselblad-tuned cameras for premium devices to create differentiation and to decrease the cost of affordable devices.

According to recent reports, OnePlus 11R will have the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor at the helm. The OnePlus 11 gets the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, which is comparatively more powerful and efficient. 11R is expected to get a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with curved edges, an HD+ resolution, and a 120Hz refresh rate.

For photography, the handset may feature an OIS-enabled 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP macro camera. On the front, there may be a 16MP selfie sensor. It could run Android 13 out of the box and pack a 5,000mAh battery with 100W charging support.

The new Xiaomi smart band, according to the official leaks, will be priced in Europe at €34.99 (~$38). It is unclear whether the leaked price relates to the launch period or it is the regular pricing of the gadget. The details also indicate that the launch of the Smart Band 2 is imminent in Europe.

Redmi Smart Band 2

The smart band retailed for the equivalent of $25 when it was launched in China. The pricing indicates that the Smart Band 2 is pretty affordable with several decent features to boot. Teclast M40 Pro 2023 Tablet Launches with an Improved Processor, Android 12

Teclast M40 Pro debuted back in 2021 as a mid-range tablet with decent features. Now, the company has introduced a refreshed version of the same tablet with some notable improvements in performance and software. The new Teclast M40 Pro 2023 comes with a 10.1-inch display and runs Android 12 out of the box. Let’s have a closer look at its specifications and pricing.

The design and appearance of the tablet haven’t changed. It looks essentially the same as the 2021 model with thin bezels and a single camera on the back. The Teclast M40 Pro 2023 comes with a 10.1-inch display with a 1,920 x 1,200-pixel resolution and a 16:10 aspect ratio.

Telecast M40 Pro 2023

The notable change on the device is the processor. The Chinese company says the M40 Pro 2023 packs a more powerful chipset, more RAM, and faster storage. There’s Unisoc Tiger T616 SoC under the hood of the device, paired with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of UFS 2.1 flash storage. Its predecessor runs the Unisoc T618 with 6 GB of RAM and slower storage.

It is worth mentioning that the Unisoc Tiger T616 does not offer any earth-shattering performance improvements over the Unisoc Tiger T618. It’s only a tad bit faster than the latter, so keep your expectations in check. The new tablet is fueled by a 7,000mAh battery and comes with an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera.

Interested shoppers can get the M40 Pro 2023 through AliExpress. Currently, the tablet isn’t available on any other e-commerce platform, however,  Teclast may soon sell it through Amazon. It comes with a price tag of $155.

Budget Redmi A2 & A2+ Could Launch Soon in India, Get BIS Certified

Redmi A1 and A1+ debuted in the Indian market last year as the most affordable smartphones from Xiaomi’s spin-off brand. The A1+ later got launched as a rebranded Poco C50 in the country and gained quite some popularity. Now, it appears the brand is ready to bring the next-gen Redmi A2 series smartphones to India, as they have already bagged BIS certification.

Tipster Mukul Sharma has spotted two Redmi smartphones on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) website. These devices are said to be the Redmi A2 and Redmi A2+. While the listing did not reveal any specifications of the two smartphones, it does hint at an imminent Indian launch.

Redmi A1

Both Redmi A2 and A2+ could launch in the country in a month or two. However, there’s no official confirmation from the brand yet. We might be seeing more budget smartphones from Xiaomi as the brand is reported to put a stronger focus on the entry-level segment where it commands the majority share.

This is because the year 2022 was not very good for the Chinese company as it slipped to the third position in the Indian smartphone market. Samsung managed to take the first spot while Vivo secured the second position.

To recall, the recent Redmi A1+ comes with a 6.52-inch LCD display with an HD+ resolution. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by the MediaTek Helio A22 SoC paired with up to 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage.

For photography, the handset has an 8-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel depth sensor on the rear. The front houses a 5-megapixel selfie camera. It is fueled by a 5,000mAh battery pack that supports 10W charging.

OnePlus 11R Confirmed To Pack Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 Under the Hood

OnePlus is scheduled to announce the OnePlus 11 and Buds Pro 2 among other products at its Cloud 11 event in India on February 7. A recent teaser confirmed the rumored OnePlus 11R would also be debuting on the same day. And while we wait, the Chinese company has now officially revealed the processor that will power the upcoming 11R.

In a recent teaser, OnePlus confirmed that the OnePlus 11R will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor. While it is not the latest from the semiconductor company, it’s still one of the most powerful and capable processors out there. You might remember that SD 8+ Gen 1 powered the majority of the flagships last year, including the OnePlus 10T, Galaxy Z 4 foldables, and more.

OnePlus-11 (1)

However, OnePlus 11R will not match the performance of the OnePlus 11, which boasts the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. This should mean that the 11R will come with a more affordable price tag than the standard model.

OnePlus hasn’t disclosed any other specifications of the forthcoming R series smartphone. But thanks to various leaks and rumors, we already know it all. The smartphone could flaunt a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with curved edges, an HD+ resolution, and a 120Hz refresh rate. A center-punched hole on the display might enclose a 16MP camera for selfies and video calls.

In the rear camera department, there could be an OIS-enabled 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP macro camera. In terms of software, the OnePlus 11R will run OxygenOS 13-based Android 13 out of the box. It could have a 5,000mAh battery with 100W fast charging support.

IKEA VAPPEBY 20×20 gen 3 Bluetooth Speaker Receives Bluetooth Certification

It looks like IKEA is expanding its line of Bluetooth speakers with the upcoming VAPPEBY 20×20 gen 3. This device has recently received Bluetooth certification, and a similarly named gadget, the VAPPEBY 20 gen 3, was listed for FCC certification last year. This suggests that the VAPPEBY 20×20 gen 3 is a new and improved version of the VAPPEBY 20 gen 3.

IKEA VAPPEBY 20x20 gen 3

The design of the VAPPEBY 20×20 gen 3 appears to be similar to the IKEA ENEBY Bluetooth speaker. It is a square-shaped speaker with a built-in handle, making it easy to carry around. The device also has control buttons and a scroll wheel button to adjust the volume and play or pause music. The key difference between the ENEBY and the VAPPEBY 20×20 gen 3 seems to be the inclusion of the Spotify Tap playback feature. This feature allows you to resume playback or play music based on your taste with just the click of a button. This is a smart feature that makes it easy for you to control your music without having to pull out your phone.

Another smart feature of the VAPPEBY 20×20 gen 3 is the auto standby feature. After 20 minutes of inactivity, the device will automatically go into standby mode, conserving power and prolonging the battery life. The speakers in the device include a 3.2-inch (~81 mm) woofer and a 1-inch (~25 mm) soft dome tweeter. The amplifier output power of the device is 20 W, which should provide a decent level of volume and clarity.

IKEA ENEBY Bluetooth Speaker

The VAPPEBY 20×20 gen 3 appears to be powered by the IKEA ENEBY Battery pack. This battery pack should provide enough power for the speaker to last for up to 16 hours at 50% volume. The speaker will measure 199 x 199 x 80 mm (~8 x 8 x 3-in) and weigh 1.5 kg (~52.9 oz) without the battery pack. It is a compact and portable speaker that you can take with you wherever you go.

It is unclear when this new IKEA VAPPEBY 20 x 20 Bluetooth speaker will be launched, but it is likely to be soon based on the recent certifications. The price of the device is also unknown, but the latest product in this line, the VAPPEBY Bluetooth speaker lamp, was released last March and retailed for US$89.99. It is likely that the VAPPEBY 20×20 gen 3 will be priced similarly, but this is just speculation at this point.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 For Galaxy

The chipset may have a lengthy name, but Samsung has created a more simplified way to remind consumers of the special chipset powering their new flagships, which is the new, modified Snapdragon logo. It will be featured in promotional materials. Consumers can expect to see this logo prominently displayed on billboards and throughout the web starting next week, as Samsung’s Galaxy S23 lineup will be officially unveiled at the Galaxy Unpacked Event on February 1. The chipset will be exclusive to Samsung, at least at launch, and details about the agreement with Qualcomm are currently unclear.

The specifications of the Galaxy S23 lineup have already been leaked. For starters, the base model Galaxy S23 has a 6.1-inch FHD+ (2,340 x 1,080) AMOLED screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate. The Galaxy S23+ has a larger 6.6-inch screen, but the same display specifications as the Galaxy S23. The Galaxy S23 Ultra is expected to feature a 6.8-inch QHD+ (3,088 x 1,440) AMOLED screen and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The phones have top-of-the-line specifications and camera setups. The “Snapdragon for Galaxy” designation is expected to continue with the Galaxy S24 series as well. Still, it’s possible that Samsung may switch to using its in-house chipset in the future.

Google to Enhance Transparency in Google Flights, Hotels, Play Store To Abide by EU Regulations

Europe has been quite strict with enforcing its laws when it comes to big tech conglomerates. Previously, the European Union forced Apple to switch their iPhones from lightning ports to USB-C ports, which was huge considering Apple had no plans of doing so before they were pressured by the union. In latest news, Google has pledged to make changes to several products and services in order to comply with EU laws regarding transparency and providing clear information to consumers.

Google

Following discussions with the Consumer Protection Cooperation Network (CPC), led by the European Commission, Google has agreed to address issues raised by authorities and make changes to Google Store, Google Play Store, Google Hotels, and Google Flights. Commissioner for Justice, Didier Reynders stated that EU consumers are entitled to clear, complete information so that they can make informed choices, and Google’s commitments are a step forward in this direction. The Commission further addressed Google, asking the company to comply fully with the Geo-blocking Regulation. The regulation ensures that consumers can enjoy the same rights and access the same content throughout Europe.

Google has agreed to limit its ability to make unilateral changes related to orders, as well as create an email address for consumer protection authorities to report and request the removal of illegal content. Here are some major changes that Google will incorporate into its practices

Google Flights and Google Hotels

  • Clarifying whether customers are dealing directly with Google or if Google is merely an intermediary in the transaction.
  • Clarifying the reference price pertaining to discounts, as advertised on Google. Also, letting the customers know if reviews are not verified on Google Hotels.
  • Adhering to the same transparency commitments as other major platforms with regard to prices, availability, and more.

Google Play Store and Google Store

  • Google has agreed to offer detailed information on delivery costs, the option to withdraw, and the availability of repair or replacement options before any transactions take place. Additionally, Google will provide information on the company, including its legal name and address, as well as direct and effective contact methods such as a live telephone agent.
  • The company will also ensure that consumers can easily navigate different country versions of the Google Play Store and inform developers of their responsibility to make their apps available throughout the EU. Furthermore, Google will enable consumers to use different payment methods from any EU country.

The CPC (Consumer Protection Cooperation) will actively monitor the implementation of these commitments, and national authorities will monitor and enforce compliance where necessary. However, one practice by Google that does not fully comply with the Geo-blocking Regulation is the application of technical limitations for the use of apps that would normally be available in the country where the user is temporarily located. As per reports, the CPC and national authorities will continue to monitor this issue.
