Xiaomi unveiled MIUI 14 at the Xiaomi 13 series launch event in December. The latest version of the company’s mobile software is being rolled out to eligible devices. The rollout was limited to China earlier but now the availability of the update is being extended to more markets.
Hence, the EEA variant of Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE has started receiving the MIUI 14 update based on Android 13. Let’s go through the details.
According to Xiaomiui, the MIUI 14 update for the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE arrives with build number V14.0.4.0.TKOEUXM. The update is currently only available for ‘Mi Pilot’ testers.
For the unaware, ‘Mi Pilot’ is Xiaomi’s global public beta program. New software builds are initially released for users enrolled in this initiative.
Later, the same build is rolled out as ‘Stable Beta’ for a limited number of the general public. If there are no major issues, the build is finally released for every user as ‘Stable’.
MIUI 14 is the second major software upgrade for the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE. Similarly, Android 13 is the device’s second Android update.
As the phone is eligible for 3 Android updates, it should receive one more next year. Also, it should get security updates until 2025.
The Nitro XV5 gaming monitor series, which will be offered later this month, has been announced by Acer. The series will launch with two 27-inch models that use identical 27-inch IPS screens, according to the manufacturer.
The two will be distinguished by their native resolutions, with one running at 1440p and the other at 4K, according to Acer. Although they both support overclocking to 200 Hz, the pair will also provide 144 Hz and 160 Hz refresh rates, respectively.
Acer has not confirmed whether it has measured these response times using GTG or MPRT, but allegedly overclocking the monitors also cuts their response times to 0.5 ms. However, Acer brags that the Nitro XV5 series offers HDMI 2.1 connectivity for compatibility with high-end graphics cards and current-generation gaming consoles, as well as AMD FreeSync Premium to reduce image tearing. Acer appears to have included HDMI 2.1 connections with full bandwidth, supporting 4K and 120 Hz gaming.
Additionally, the Nitro XV5 series will come with a USB hub that supports USB Type-C charging at 65 W. Acer notes that the USB hub has VESA 75 x 75 mm wall mount connectors, sits above an adjustable stand, and works with a KVM switch for peripherals. Later this month, the Eurozone will be able to purchase the Nitro XV5 series. The monitor series will reportedly start at €399, however, this presumably only applies to the QHD variant, according to Acer’s confirmations so far.
In July 2022, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra flagship phone went official as the world’s first smartphone with a 1-inch camera sensor. The device is exclusive to the Chinese market, but the next Ultra model, which is tentatively called the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, will receive a global launch. Multiple reports have claimed that it will break cover in Q2 2023. However, there have been some rumors that its launch has been delayed. According to new details shared by a Chinese tipster (via. TechGoing), the Xiaomi 13 Ultra’s arrival has not been delayed, and the company’s internal plan is to schedule its debut in April at the latest.
The highest configuration available on the engineering prototype of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra offers 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB of native storage. The same is likely to be seen on the final version of the device.
Xiaomi 12S Ultra
To recall, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra’s base model (8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage) was priced at 5,999 Yuan (~$887) at launch. The tipster said that the price of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra remains the same as the previous generation, which indicates its starting variant could be priced at 5,999 Yuan (~$887).
Reports surrounding the device have revealed that the Xiaomi 13 Ultra will have an E6 AMOLED display with curved edges. It is expected to retain the 1-inch Sony IMX989 50-megapixel camera that is available on the Xiaomi 12S Ultra. It is likely to come equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform.
The tipper also said that there is a Redmi event planned for April in China. However, it is unclear what devices will be unveiled through it. The publication speculates that the event could be the Redmi Note 12T series. Redmi unveiled the Redmi Note 11 series in China back in October 2021, and it unveiled the Redmi Note 11T Pro lineup in May 2022. So, it is likely that the Redmi Note 12T Pro series could be coming this April since the brand announced the Note 11 series in the Chinese market in October 2022.

Samsung, the South Korean giant, has today officially announced its latest 200-megapixel camera sensor, dubbed Samsung ISOCELL HP2. The camera sensor for premium smartphones comes with improved pixel technology and full-well capacity for stunning mobile images.
The company has also revealed that the Samsung ISOCELL HP2 200-megapixel camera sensor has now entered mass production, which hints that it could be equipped with the upcoming Galaxy S23 series flagship smartphones.
The ISOCELL HP2 camera sensor packs 200 million 0.6-micrometer (μm) pixels in a 1/1.3” optical format, a sensor size that is widely used in 108-megapixel main smartphone cameras. Thanks to this, customers will be able to produce higher resolutions in the latest high-end smartphones without larger camera bumps in the devices.
It can accommodate various lighting levels with its Tetra2pixel. In low-lit environments, the sensor transforms into a 1.2μm 50-megapixel or 2.4μm 12.5-megapixel by binding four to 16 neighboring pixels. For 8K video, approximately at 33-megapixel, the sensor switches to 1.2μm 50-megapixel mode to minimize cropping, while the 8K video at 30 frames per second, a wide field of view along with a bigger pixel size can produce sharp cinematic videos.
Samsung is also introducing the DSG feature for the first time in 50-megapixel mode, which applies two different conversion values to the analog signal received at the pixel level. There’s also Smart-ISO Pro, an HDR solution that merges different levels of ISO from a single exposure, allowing the camera to take 12.5-megapixel images and 4K at 60fps video in HDR.
The sensor uses Super QPD in low-lit environments where all the 200 million pixels are used for the focusing agent to deliver faster and more accurate autofocusing. It is also capable of fast auto-focusing, and the new Dual Vertical Transfer Gate (D-VTG) technology can also reduce washed-out pictures from brightly lit environments.
Although the company has confirmed that the ISOCELL HP2 sensor has entered mass production, Samsung has not revealed the shipping date nor the list of smartphones to feature this new sensor. However, it is most likely to be equipped with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S23 series, which is launching in a couple of weeks.
Apple has been working on new MacBook Pro models for some time now, and it appears that the Cupertino-based technology giant is now finally all set to launch the new laptops.
Ahead of the official launch, the upcoming Apple MacBook Pro model has been spotted on Canada’s regulatory database, indicating that the launch of the device isn’t too far.
Apple MacBook Pro
The regulatory database listing reveals that the MacBook Pro laptop will come packed with Wi-Fi 6E support. The current MacBook Pro models come with support for Wi-Fi 6 standard, which is limited to 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.
The certificate number for the device with Apple MacBook Pro branding is 579C-A2779. Apart from the upgraded support for the wireless network, the devices are also expected to have a few changes compared to the current generation models, including more ports, a notch on top of the screen, and more.
Rumors indicate that the Apple MacBook Pro could come in two sizes — 14-inch and 16-inch, powered by the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips. It is also being said that the devices could launch later today through a press release shared by the company. Given that the laptop has appeared in the regulatory database, the launch is happing very soon, which is in line with the rumors of the device launching today.
A mysterious Honor phone has surfaced in leaked renders shared by tipster Snoopy Tech. While the images give a good look at its design from all angles, there is no information on the final marketing name of the device. Also, it is unclear whether the device is headed towards China or the global market.
The only thing that is known about the Honor phone shown in leaked renders is that it is equipped with a 100-megapixel primary camera. As can be seen, the handset will come in at least blue and black shades.
The device promises a high screen-to-body ratio as it features a punch-hole display with slim bezels. Its bottom bezel is slightly thick. The flat edges of the phone accommodate a SIM slot on the left side, and volume buttons as well as a power button on the right.
The top edge of the phone has two holes, one of them could be for the microphone, and the other could be for an IR blaster. On the bottom, it houses another microphone, a USB-C port, and a speaker grille.
The square-shaped camera module available on the phone’s back has three cameras and an LED flash inside. The “100MP Ultra Camera” text can be seen engraved just below the camera module.
The mysterious Honor phone seems to have an OLED screen with a fingerprint sensor integrated into it. As can be seen, it does not feature a 3.5mm audio jack. Hopefully, more details of the device will surface in upcoming reports. As of this writing, it appears to be an upper-midrange offering.
Reports have revealed that Oppo is working on the Reno 8T 4G and Reno 8T 5G. Reliable tipster Evan Blass has shared the leaked renders of what appears to be the 4G version of the Reno 8T. Here is the first look at the phone’s design.
The Reno 8T renders show that its display has a corner punch-hole and a large bottom bezel. The rear shell of the device seems to have a leather finish. The first camera ring on the back houses the primary camera. The second one has two auxiliary cameras and an LED flash. The imprinted text that can be seen below the camera module reads “AI Portrait Camera, Ultra Clear Lens.”
Tipster Snoopy Tech shared a few more renders of the Reno 8T 4G to additional details about it. Its top edge has a microphone, whereas its bottom edge has a 3.5mm audio jack, another microphone, a USB-C port, and a speaker grille. The earpiece available on the top bezel of the device may function as a speaker for stereo output.
A SIM slot and volume buttons can be seen on the left side of the device. The power button located on the right edge does not seem to be integrated with a fingerprint scanner. This indicates that the device could feature an OLED panel with an in-screen fingerprint scanner. While the tipster revealed that the Reno 8T is heading towards the European market, he did not share any information on its specs.
So far, reports have revealed that the Oppo Reno 8T 4G will feature an Helio G99 chipset and 8 GB of RAM. It will run on Android 12 OS and support 33W fast charging. The handset is expected to debut by the last week of this month. The Reno 8T 5G, which is said to be a rebranded version of the China-exclusive Oppo A1 Pro 5G, is also expected to debut soon.

Design
The aesthetics of these three phones do not differ too much. The only important difference is the positions of the elements in the camera module of the Redmi K60E, but for the rest, these devices are pretty much the same. They come with flat displays, punch holes placed centrally, and rectangle-shaped camera modules.
Display
Despite belonging to different price ranges, the phones from the Redmi K60 Series have the same amazing display. We are talking about an OLED panel with a diagonal of 6.67 inches, a Quad HD+ resolution of 1440 x 3200 pixels, a 120 Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision support, HDR10+ certification, a peak brightness of 1,200 nits, and an in-display fingerprint scanner. The handsets also come with good stereo speakers.
Specs & Software
The processors found on these devices are all different. The most powerful phone of the trio is the Redmi K60 Pro as it is equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform running at a max frequency of 3.2 GHz. The SoC is paired with up to 16 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of UFS 4.0 native storage. You can get the same memory configuration if you choose the vanilla version, but with an inferior chipset: the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 by Qualcomm. The Redmi K60E has just 12 GB of RAM in its most expensive configuration, as well as an inferior Dimensity 8200 chipset by MediaTek. The vanilla version and the Pro run Android 13 out of the box, while the Redmi K60E is still based on Android 12.
Camera
If you are looking for the best cameras, then you should go for the Redmi K60 Pro. It has a triple rear camera including a 54 MP main sensor with OIS, an 8 MP ultrawide shooter, and a 2 MP macro lens, as well as a 16 MP selfie snapper. The vanilla Redmi K60 has the same secondary sensors, but with an inferior main camera: a 64 MP shooter with OIS. The Redmi K60E is the most disappointing one because it has a 48 MP main camera with OIS (the secondary sensors remain the same).
If your goal is to get a longer battery life, then you should go either for the vanilla Redmi K60 or the Redmi K60E because they have a bigger battery, with a capacity of 5500 mAh. On the other hand, the Pro charges quicker thanks to 120W fast charging, while the other variants feature 67W fast charging.
Price
The Redmi K60 starts from about $379/€350, the Redmi K60 Pro from $498/€460, and the K60E from $325/€300. Which one would you pick?

After seeding the Realme UI 4.0 early access update to the Realme 9 5G last month, the company is now bringing the latest version of its custom skin to the Realme 9 4G in India. The Android 13-based software will be rolled out to a limited number of users who apply for it. Here are all the details.
According to the announcement, Realme 9 users in India can now get their hands on the latest Realme UI 4.0 by being part of the early access program. It will allow limited users to try all the new features packed in the update before it reaches to the public.
To get the update, you must ensure that your device is running any of the following firmware versions: RMX3521_11.A.29, RMX3521_11.A.31. Next, head to Settings, tap on Software Update, and tap on the gear icon in the top right corner. Now, select the trial version and fill out the early access form. Once your application is approved, an OTA update will be released for your device.
It is recommended that you create a backup of all your data before you proceed with the update in order to avoid any loss. Also, as the software is still in beta form, it could contain some bugs that hamper your phone’s usage.
The latest Realme UI 4.0 update comes with a lot of new features and improvements. It upgrades the AOD functionality, allowing users to access the music player even when the phone is locked. Several privacy protection features have been added to the software, including Private Safe, which is based on the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES). There’s also a new control center.
Huawei has been long rumored to be working on the successor of Mate X2. The new Huawei Mate X3 was expected to debut in December 2022, but that clearly didn’t happen. While we wait for an official announcement, a Chinese tipster has revealed the foldable will launch soon with satellite connectivity onboard.
The exact launch date wasn’t revealed, but it has been claimed that the Mate X3 will arrive before the Huawei P60 Series. Leaks suggest the P60 Series will be unveiled sometime in March, so we can expect the folding device to debut in February. It seems likely because the Mate X2 was also unveiled around the same time last year.
As mentioned, the smartphone is said to support satellite connectivity, like the Mate 50 series. It will allow users to send and receive short messages using Beidou’s direct satellite network. However, unlike the Mate 50 smartphones, the device will also support voice messages.
The satellite connectivity feature is drawing a lot of manufacturers’ attention. It has been reported that Samsung will also be joining the bandwagon with the upcoming Galaxy S23 Ultra. The SOS communication feature will be particularly useful in situations where there’s no network reception. Yes, you may never actually need it, but it’s still good to have, just in case.
Details about the upcoming Mate X3 are pretty limited. It is expected to be a 4G-only device and could be powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. Reports claim the foldable will give a tough fight to the Galaxy Z Fold 4 while carrying a cheaper price tag. More information should emerge pretty soon. We’ll keep you posted.
OnePlus 11 made its China debut recently and will arrive in the global market on February 7. Rumors suggest the company will follow it up with another flagship, called the OnePlus 11R. The handset’s specifications are already out, and today a new report revealed its launch timeline while also spotting it on OnePlus’s official website. Here are the details.
91Mobiles, citing tipster Mukul Sharma, claims that the OnePlus 11R’s production has started in India, and it could launch in the country in April or May. We may learn the exact launch date of the smartphone once the Chinese company is done with the OnePlus 11 global launch.
In addition, the publication has spotted the “OnePlus 11R” moniker on the brand’s official website, confirming the smartphone’s existence. However, it didn’t reveal any specifications of the upcoming smartphone.
Luckily, a previous report has already disclosed all the specifications of the 11R. The smartphone, model number CPH2487, will be powered by an underclocked version of the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1. The same processor was also seen on the OPPO Reno 9 Pro Plus, Honor 80 Pro, Honor 80 GT, and iQOO Neo 7 Racing Edition.
The smartphone is expected to feature a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with 2772×1240 pixel resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It could be offered with 8GB, 12GB, and 16GB RAM options and up to 512GB internal storage. On the software front, it may run Android 13-based OxygenOS 13.
The OnePlus smartphone could flaunt a triple camera unit on the back with a 50MP primary sensor, a 12MP secondary lens (likely ultrawide), and a 2MP sensor. For selfies, it might pack a 16MP sensor on the front. Fueled by a 5,000mAh battery, the handset will likely support 100W fast charging.
Poco F4 debuted last year, arguably as one of the best value-for-money smartphones. Now, it’s about time we get its successor—the Poco F5. While there’s no official confirmation from the brand, the handset has been making the rounds on various certification sites. The new Poco smartphone may launch pretty soon, as according to a new report, it is already in production in Europe and Asia.
Noted Tipster Mukul Sharma says the serial production of the POCO F5 5G has begun in several European and Asian countries. This should mean that the handset will launch in various markets in a month or two. Sharma says F5 has also bagged TUV Rheinland certification. It is a certificate that recognizes a product’s compliance with safety standards.
Some reports claim the upcoming Poco F5 will debut as a rebranded Redmi K60, while others go as far as to suggest the handset doesn’t exist. We can’t be sure about any of them.
This year, Poco is also expected to launch the Poco F5 Pro, which is also rumored to be a rebranded K60. More information is needed before any conclusion can be drawn. Meanwhile, let’s check out the Redmi K60’s specs.
It brings a 6.67-inch panel with a peak brightness of 1400nit, 68.7 billion colors, a P3 color gamut, and 1920Hz PWM high-frequency dimming. Under the hood, there’s a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, paired with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. The smartphone features a particularly large 5500mAh battery with 67W wired fast charging and 30W wireless charging.
For photography, it has a 60MP primary camera with OIS, an 8MP ultrawide lens, and a 2MP macro lens. The device runs MIUI 14, based on Android 13, out of the box.

Samsung made the very idea of folding smartphones a big thing with its foldable line. The Korean company’s foldables are one of the best in the market, but just like everything, they are not perfect. And one of the major concerns with the Galaxy Z Folds and Flips is the controversial crease present on the display. Yes, it is less visible on the latest Galaxy Z Fold 4, but it’s still noticeable. Luckily, Samsung could finally fix this design flaw with the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5.
The Korean publication Naver reports that Samsung will use a new waterdrop-shaped hinge on the upcoming Fold 5, which will allow the device’s display to fold completely flat without any gaps in between. This should mean that the inner display of the foldable will become more durable and have little to no crease.
To make you understand, the crease on the display of Samsung’s foldables appears due to the design of their hinges. Apparently, the hinge creates a tight bend at the center, which results in a visible stream on the display.
The report further states that the new waterdrop-shaped hinge is called a “dumbbell” type hinge internally. It is reported that the new hinge will increase the durability of the display and make the smartphone easier to carry.
It is worth mentioning that, unlike Samsung, Chinese brands (Xiaomi, Oppo, et al.) have already gotten rid of the unsightly crease from their foldables’ displays. Oppo’s recent Find X2 series debuts with a sleeker, crease-less display than Samsung’s best foldable. Xiaomi’s Mix Fold 2 isn’t any different. It comes with probably the best display in the industry and is thinner than every folding smartphone on the market.

Xiaomi has rolled out the stable version of MIUI 14 to the flagship Xiaomi 12 series globally. The new user interface update was first announced in Xiaomi’s home market last month. The MIUI 14 has already reached Xiaomi 12 smartphones in China earlier this month. The stable version of the software update will however start with Xiaomi 12 flagship models globally.
The MIUI 14 is based on Android 13 and delivers the January 2023 security update. The update is available for users who have been on the beta channel. The file size that must be downloaded is 4.43GB. The full version number is MIUI 14.0.2.0 (TLCMIXM) and is not yet available for the Xiaomi 12 Pro.
The update is only available for a select category of beta testers and it can only be gotten over the wire. There are no automatic updates yet but Xiaomi hopes to finetune the MIUI 14 with feedback from this select group. Subsequently, the MIUI 14 update will become available for all associated smartphones on the Xiaomi stables. Then, users will get a simple notification and OTA downloads will be possible.
Since 2010 when the first MIUI was launched, it currently has an excess of 564 million active users monthly across the world. The MIUI 14 is the latest Android 13-based interface for Xiaomi smartphones. It comes with a highly optimized and streamlined interface. It also starts with Project Razor with a substantial upgrade of the system architecture. The improvements include CPU, GPU, and memory resource scheduling, decreased memory usage, and a lighter firmware size.
MIUI 14 improvements also include automatic compression for inactive apps and a toggle option to turn off permanent notifications. There are only eight system apps in MIUI 14 that cannot be uninstalled, which is the lowest so far. The new user interface has customizable folders, animated flowers, pet widgets, duplicated file mergers, and improved text recognition. There are also improvements in privacy using MIUI 14 with its end-to-end encryption.
