ASUS brings Glass-free 3D tech to OLED laptops, starting with the Vivobook Pro

Apart from just unveiling a number of new hardware during CES 2023, ASUS announced an interesting new software technology as well, which will be rolled out to certain OLED laptops to enable a glass free way of experiencing 3D. So here are all the details.

Just yesterday, we had covered Acer’s announcement in which it had also released an update to improve its existing SpatialLabs TrueGame tech that also enabled 3D gaming without a dedicated 3D glasses. Now, it appears that the Taiwanese PC maker has also released a similar technology. The company is seeking to bring this feature to OLED laptop screens thanks to its ASUS Spatial Vision, which is a “glasses free (autostereoscopic) 3D OLED technology.”

ASUS

So now, PCs that support Spatial Vision will be able to use a combination of lenticular lens and advanced eye tracking camera technology to offer a 3D experience. With this tech, the system can render separate images for each eye and follow the position of your head and eyes to adjust the output. As of right now, ASUS will be debuting the Spatial Vision 3D tech on two laptops in the second quarter of this year, including the ProArt Studiobook 16 3D OLED and the Vivobook Pro 16 3D OLED.

The company is rolling out the new tech on these laptops first thanks to their higher 3200 x 2000px resolutions and high 120Hz refresh rate support. Furthermore, these also feature a layer of optical resin, a glass panel, and a lenticular lens that helps work with a pair of eye tracking cameras for real time rendering of images. Meaning, this technology won’t just work with any OLED laptop, at least for now that is.

The OLED display is Asus’s big wager as the distinguishing element of this business laptop. The inclusion of the OLED panels means you’ll have inky blacks and more vivid colors.

For ease of compatibility with hardware at work, the ExpertBook B9 comes with a full set of legacy ports, including USB A, HDMI, and even an RJ45 port for wired Internet connection.

The Asus laptop sports a mechanical camera shutter, a fingerprint reader, and the virtual touchpad Numpad, which is a distinguishing feature of the brand. In relation to the touchpad, Asus asserts that it is 26.8% larger than those found on comparable ExpertBook systems.

The newest Intel Core CPUs from the 13th Core I generation, with up to 64 GB of RAM, is the foundation of the new Asus ExpertBook B9. Asus has built a cooling system with two fans to keep these powerful CPUs cool and the laptop quiet.

Asus ExpertCenter PN64-E1 mini-PC

The brand has also unveiled a few details about its upcoming mini-PC called the ExpertCenter PN64-E1. Up to an i7-13700H mobile CPU with 24 MB L3 cache, Iris Xe iGPU, performance cores operating at 5 GHz, and efficiency cores running at 3.7 GHz are expected to be available in PN64-E1 variants. For the more economical versions, Raptor Lake-P CPU alternatives will probably be available as well. The maximum RAM capacity is still 32 GB DDR5, but there are now two M.2 slots that support PCIe 4.0 X4 speeds on the storage side.

The product images made available show a strong port lineup that finally adds Thunderbolt 4 capability for the small PC lineup. As a result, there are two TB4 ports, three USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 ports, two USB-A 3.1 ports, a 2.5 GbE jack, an audio jack with the Realtek ALC897 codec, two HDMI 2.1 video outputs, and a configurable slot that can be filled with a serial port, a VGA output, an HDMI 2.1 output, or an additional 2.5 GbE jack. An integrated Wi-Fi 6E + BT 5.2 card provides wireless connectivity.

Two-Way AI Noise Cancelation processing for mics and an enhanced cooling system for reduced noise are additional features of the PN64-E1. Pricing and availability are still unknown.

OnePlus Exec States “There Is No OnePlus 11 Pro”

Yesterday, OnePlus launched the OnePlus 11 flagship smartphone in China with a starting price of 3,999 Yuan ($580). The global launch of the device is scheduled for February 7th.

OnePlus

The OnePlus 11 is currently available for pre-order in China and will go on sale for the first time on January 9. Li Jie, the president of OnePlus China, started connecting with the OnePlus fans once the device became available for pre-order.

Li Jie shared in a Weibo post that the OnePlus 11 has achieved the fastest sales record in the company’s history in just two hours. The OnePlus China president also shared some words of gratitude for customers and fans of the brand.

However, this post’s most interesting information is tucked away in the comment section. One Weibo user wrote in the post’s comments that he would be tempted to purchase the OP11 if there was no Pro model available. In response, Li Jie claimed that the OP11 had come in its place and that there was no OnePlus 11 Pro.

This statement is in line with previous reports claiming that OnePlus won’t be launching a Pro model of its flagship series this year. Considering the fact that the company only launched the OnePlus 10 Pro last year, without releasing a vanilla variant, this tactic is nothing new from the company.

OnePlus 11 Specifications

The OnePlus 11 has a 6.7-inch E4 AMOLED Quad HD+ display, a 120Hz refresh rate, and an in-screen fingerprint scanner. The phone boasts a 16MP front-facing camera and three cameras on the back: a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 48MP ultra-wide camera, and a 32MP telephoto lens with OIS.

A 5,000mAh battery with 100W charging and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 CPU power this gadget. It has up to 512 GB of UFS 4.0 storage and 16 GB of LPDDR5x RAM. Other features it offers include IP54-rated chassis, Gorilla Glass 5, Android 13 OS, and ColorOS 13.

Three different configurations of the gadget are offered: 12GB RAM + 256GB storage costs $3,999 Yuan ($580), 16GB RAM + 256GB storage costs $4,499 Yuan ($640), and 16GB RAM + 512GB storage costs $4,899 Yuan ($710). There are two colour options for it: green and black.

Google Pixel 7a RAM, Storage Leak Reveals it Could be Most Powerful A-Series Pixel Phone

A hands-on video of the forthcoming Google Pixel 7a surfaced in a private Facebook group from Vietnam. The leaked video gave a look at the pre-production unit of the Pixel 7a. As far as the specs are concerned, the video clip only revealed one thing about the device, which is that its screen supports a 90Hz refresh rate. As per a tweet released by tipster Chun, Google has remotely locked the leaked Pixel 7a.

Since the device has been remotely locked, it does not boot to the homescreen. As can be seen in the video, turning on the device does not go past the fastboot menu. Interestingly, the fastboot menu has revealed key information on its RAM and storage capacities.

It has now been revealed that the Pixel 7a is equipped with 8 GB of LPDDR5 RAM supplied by Samsung. In addition, it has 128 GB of UFS storage (could be UFS 3.1) by Micron. The “Lynx” codename, which belongs to the Pixel 7a, is also seen in the fastboot menu.

The Pixel 6a, which debuted last year, has a 60Hz FHD+ display, the first-generation Tensor chipset, and 6 GB of LPDDR4x RAM. In comparison, the Pixel 7a will be a more powerful device since it is expected to feature a 90Hz FHD+ screen, the latest Tensor G2 chip, and faster LPDDR5 RAM.

Reports also say that the Pixel 7a’s rear shell will have a new dual-camera system with a 64-megapixel Sony IMX787 main camera and a Sony IMX712 ultra-wide camera. While there is no information on its battery capacity, it is said to support wireless charging.
