FLIR Launches a New Thermal Camera, Gives Your Phone a New Vision

Modern-day smartphones have started coming out with multiple camera lenses. A smartphone with a primary wide lens, ultrawide lens and telephoto zoom lens paired with good image processing is believed to be the most balanced device for cameras. There was a time when we used to get IR lenses on smartphones too. But now, FLIR has announced its new thermal camera, FLIR One Edge Pro. It has been launched as an upgrade to the existing FLIR One Edge.

The all-new FLIR One Edge Pro comes in an upgraded form factor. You can easily attach it to the rear panel of the smartphone. Also, there’s no need to connect the lens to your smartphone to get output. One can directly transfer the images taken from the lens to the smartphone wirelessly. It has also been claimed that the One Edge Pro has an upgraded battery life when compared with its predecessor. But we’re not sure how much exactly they have improved the battery life.

The thermal imaging sensor has a resolution of 160*120 and a frame rate that has not been improved over its predecessor. The frame rate on this one is still limited, and this is due to government restrictions; FLIR is not to blame. It also includes an MSX mode, which overlays image data from the visible camera to make thermal images simpler to read. There have also been some software enhancements.

Coming down to the price, the FLIR One Edge Pro has been priced at $550. That’s $100 more when compared with the $450 of the FLIR One Edge Pro. Well, you get the upgrades in the hardware too. The device will go on sale starting November 10th, 2022. It will be available to purchase from FLIR’s official website and Amazon. The shipping will start around the year-end.

iQOO is well-known for its flagship killer smartphones. However, despite being over 3 and a half years old, the brand has its presence in only two markets, namely China and India.

But now, the sub-brand of Vivo is finally gearing up to debut in a new market. The new region is Malaysia.

iQOO has set up Facebook and Instagram profiles for its Malaysian unit. The company is also teasing the launch of smartphones in the country.

GSMArena notes that the brand will enter the market this month, citing a reliable source. Unfortunately, the inaugural phones for the country are a mystery.

Going by the teasers, iQOO may release upper mid-range handsets like the iQOO number series. Because the company is teasing its BMW M Motorsport partnership. For the uninitiated, the brand is known for selling special edition iQOO number series phones as part of the aforementioned collaboration.

There’s a chance that iQOO may enter Malaysia with iQOO 9T (India), which is originally called iQOO 10 in China. We also cannot rule out the possibility of iQOO releasing a brand-new handset in the country as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 announcement is set for next week.

Anyway, it’s better for us to wait for the company to officially reveal the launch date as well as the devices. In the meantime, let us know your guesses in the comment section below.

Huawei Pocket S Goes on Sale Today in China Starting at ¥5,988 (~$822)

Last week, Huawei announced the Pocket S foldable phone. It is a stripped-down variant of the P50 Pocket that debuted last year. The device was up for pre-orders when it was launched. Now, the sales of the Huawei Pocket S have commenced in China.

The Huawei Pocket S is offered in three storage configurations of 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB. The base version starts at RMB 5,988 (~$822) for the 128GB option whereas the 256GB model is priced at RMB 6,488 (~$890). The 512GB variant carries a price tag of RMB 7,488 (~$1,028). The foldable phone is offered in Obsidian Black, Frost Silver, Mint Green, Sakura Pink, Primrose Gold, and Ice Crystal Blue. The foldable smartphone can be purchased in China from Vmall, Jd.com, Suning, and other retailers in the country.

Huawei Pocket S specifications

The Huawei Pocket S features a large 6.9-inch foldable OLED display bearing a resolution of 2,790 x 1,188 pixels. It offers 10-bit colours and a 120Hz refresh rate. There is a 1.04-inch secondary screen on the back panel. The device features a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The Pocket S is the industry-first foldable phone with a multi-dimensional linkage lifting water drop hinge.

On the imaging front, the Huawei Pocket S comes with dual rear camera setup. It comprises a 40MP main sensor paired with a 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens. There is a 10.7MP front-facing selfie snapper.

Under the hood, the Huawei Pocket S is equipped with a Snapdragon 778G processor. It packs 8GB RAM and up to 512GB storage. The device features a flexible graphite heat dissipation system. The foldable phone is backed by a 4,000mAh battery unit with support for 40W charging. Software-wise, the Pocket S runs on Harmony OS 3 out of the box.

The 2022 Lenovo Innovation and Technology Conference (China edition) also known as Tech World 2022 was held yesterday in China. The virtual conference had the theme “Intelligence, Empowering Change”. At the event, Lenovo yet again showcased the rollable-screen laptop prototype. The prototype was first showcased in October when it held the global Tech World 2022.

The rollable laptop is still at the prototype stage as the company did not reveal if it is planning to unveil the product anytime soon. The laptop is said to be the first in the world to combine a flexible screen with a variable structure. The designers are aiming to provide users with a notebook experience with variable sizes, ratios, and resolutions.

By integrating a custom flexible screen into the notebook body through patented hinge technology, the prototype screen, which is only 12 inches, just the size of a traditional notebook, can be automatically expanded from a 16:9 12-inch screen at the push of a button. It extends to a 15.3-inch screen with an 8:9 aspect ratio. This design offers a superior experience for multitasking, browsing, and several other applications.

Realme 10 Pro+ is set to debut in China on November 17th. The brand has been teasing key features of the upcoming offering ahead of its launch event. Now Realme has shared a promo video that reveals the smartphone from all angles.

The Realme 10 Pro+ is already confirmed to come with a curved display. The promo video reveals the device with a gradient back panel. The brand is calling the design as Hyperspace and the video shows how the light plays with the pattern on the back. The entire back panel doesn’t seem to have one single colour. In a separate Weibo post, Realme said that the phone has a prism light cone texture and stardust particles. The light refraction is more layered offering a three-dimensional look.

As seen in the promo video, there are two vertically stacked traditional rings with the top one housing a single sensor whereas the bottom accommodates two lenses. The volume and power rocker buttons are on the right side. The phone has a slim form factor. There is a centre-aligned punch-hole cutout screen and it is surrounded by thin bezels on all sides.

Apart from the design in the promo video, the Realme 10 Pro+ is confirmed to feature a 120Hz refresh rate display and X-Touch anti-accidental touch algorithm. The smartphone has been spotted on China Telecom with full specifications. It is expected to come with a 6.7-inch AMOLED display bearing an FHD+ resolution. The upcoming offering will reportedly be powered by a Dimensity 1080 processor and it will be available in 8GB + 128GB, 8GB + 256GB, and 12GB + 256GB RAM and storage configurations.

Teclast has launched a new budget Android tablet. Officially called Teclast M40 Plus, the device offers good enough features for light users.

It comes with a 10.1-inch display, a MediaTek chipset, Android 12, and more. Let’s take a look at its entire specifications along with pricing and availability.

OPPO Find N2, OnePlus 11 tipped to feature the same cameras

OPPO announced the OPPO Find N as its first foldable phone in December last year. Its second-generation model, dubbed as the OPPO Find N2 by the rumor mill, is expected to debut in China in December. A new leak that has surfaced on Weibo today reveals that the Find N2 will feature the same set of cameras that were seen on the OnePlus 11.

According to Digital Chat Station, the OnePlus 11’s engineering prototype and OPPO Find N2 will be equipped with the same triple camera unit. Both devices will arrive with a 50-megapixel Sony IMX890 primary camera. The tipster claims that the Find N2 will come with OIS (optical image stabilization) for the main camera, but there is no confirmation whether the functionality will be there on the OnePlus 11. Previous leaks have claimed that the Find N2 will have the MariSilicon X NPU chip for a better photography experience.

The main snapper is coupled with a 48-megapixel ultra-wide snapper and a 32-megapixel Sony IMX709 telephoto camera, which will offer 2x optical zoom. Both devices will also offer Hasselblad camera optimizations. It looks like the Find N2 will have the same 32-megapixel camera on the cover screen and the same 32-megapixel camera on the screen that folds out. Both of these cameras were present on the predecessor model.

While the Find N2 and OnePlus 11 will have the same rear cameras, they are likely to be powered by different chipsets. The Find N2 will arrive with the existing Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. The Chinese electronics manufacturer Chuwi, best known for its tablets and laptops, has launched a new mini-PC in its Corebox lineup, called the Chuwi CoreBox 4th gen, which looks much like a small Mac Pro. The computer’s chassis is built of aluminum-magnesium alloy and polycarbonate, and it has dimensions of 173 x 158 x 73mm (6.8′′ x 6.2′′ x 2.9′′).

It is powered by an Intel Core i3-1215U CPU, which has 6 cores and 8 threads and is designed for laptops (2 Performance cores with support for hyperthreading plus four single-threaded efficiency cores). It has integrated Intel UHD graphics with 64 execution units and the capability for speeds up to 1.1 GHz. Although it is only rated for 15 watts, Chuwi claims that the configuration of their tiny PC will allow the chip to use up to 35 watts.

Other features include a 512GB M.2 2280 PCIe SSD (replaceable), 16GB of dual-channel LPDDR5 memory (not user upgradeable), and space for an additional 2.5 inch SATA hard drive or SSD. The computer features four USB 3.0 Type-A connections, a Gigabit Ethernet jack, DisplayPort, and HDMI 2.0 ports, as well as 3.5mm mic and audio jacks. It also contains a single Thunderbolt 4 port that may be used for external graphics docks or other devices.

Utilizing the HDMI, DisplayPort, and USB Type-C connectors, you should be able to connect three 4K displays. A 65-watt power supply and a wireless card that supports WiFi 6 connectivity are included with the 4th generation Chuwi CoreBox.

The Finnish smartwatch manufacturer Polar has launched a new smartwatch in the global market called the Polar Ignite 3. The smartwatch features many upgrades compared to its predecessor while weighing the same 21 g without its wristband and 35 g in total.

The Ignite 3 is a 43 mm smartwatch, although it is 1 mm thicker than the Ignite 2, at 9.5 mm. The Ignite 3’s larger 1.28-inch display, however, emphasizes the fact that its display bezels are less than those of its predecessor. Polar has also added an AMOLED panel to the new wearable, which should provide a significant aesthetic improvement over the TFT panel in the Ignite 2.

Additionally, the Ignite 3’s display has a resolution of 416 x 416 pixels, which is approximately twice that of its predecessor. The Ignite 3 also includes an ambient light sensor, something the Ignite 2 does not have. Polar appears to have given the latest Ignite a more potent chipset as well as approximately 8 times as much RAM as the Ignite 2.

It can track your sleep, activity, and heart rate to provide guidance that’s tailored to your body and lifestyle. One of the highlight features of the Ignite 3 is the SleepWise and sleep-wake rhythm analysis which provides a detailed breakdown of your sleep, and also shows the effect your sleep had on your day’s energy and alertness levels. The feature also anticipates the optimal time for sleep for its wearer.

There are over 150 sports modes baked into the smartwatch and the watch can also provide in-training audio feedback through your headphones or phone speaker. Last year, Leica partnered with Sharp and SoftBank to launch its first self-branded smartphone called Leitz Phone 1 in Japan. Today, the German camera maker has unveiled its second generation handset aptly named Leitz Phone 2.

Just like the Leitz Phone 1, which was based on the Sharp Aquos R6, the latest Leitz Phone 2 is built on the Aquos R7 released this year. The only major differences between the original phone and the rebranded model are colorway and software.

Leica Leitz Phone 2 Specifications

The Leica Leitz Phone 2 arrives in a single white color option called ‘Leica White’. For the unaware, the Leitz Phone 1 came in black.

Interestingly, there’s no ‘Leica’ branding anywhere on the smartphone’s body. Instead, it uses ‘Leitz’ branding. It can be seen on the camera ring, at the center of the rear panel, and on the aluminum lens cap accessory included in the box.

The device boots Android 12 with a customized interface inspired by Leica. It comes with a special LFI widget showcasing pictures shot by Leica photographers.

The camera app offers features like ‘Leitz looks’ that stimulate Leica M lenses. The quick settings in the app are based on the Leica camera UI and there are also options to choose Leica M series shutter sound and Leica filters.

Apart from the aforementioned differences, the Leica Leitz Phone 2 is a Sharp Aquos R7 inside out.

Hence, it comes with a 47.2MP 1-inch image sensor sporting an f/1.9 lens. This main camera is paired with a 1.9MP depth sensor. On the front, there is a 12.6MP snapper for selfies and video calls.

The handset is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC paired with 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB UFS 3.1 storage. It has a MicroSD card slot to further expand the storage by up to 1TB.

It flaunts a Pro IGZO OLED display with a resolution of 2730 x 1260 pixels (WUXGA+), 10-bit color depth, 240Hz refresh rate, and 2,000 nits peak brightness. The centered punch-hole panel supports Dolby Vision and houses an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor underneath it.

Other features of the smartphone include a 3.5mm headphone jack, IP68 rating (dust and water resistant), sub-6GHz 5G, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, GNSS, NFC, USB Type-C, 5,000mAh battery, USB PD (PPS) charging, and wireless charging.

Leica Leitz Phone 2 Price and Availability

The Leica Leitz Phone 2 is priced at ¥225,360 ($1,540) in Japan. It will be available for purchase starting November 18.

Just like the Leitz Phone 1, this one may also remain exclusive to the Japanese market.

Honor Magic Vs Moniker Confirmed, Design Teased

Honor’s upcoming launch event will be held on Nov. 23 in China. The event will see the arrival of a couple of new products, including the Honor 80 series and its second-foldable phone. Initial reports had dubbed the device the Honor Magic V2, but recent rumours claim that it will be called the Magic Vs. Official teasers rolled out today confirmed that Honor’s upcoming foldable phone will indeed be marketed as the Honor Magic Vs in China.

The teaser video of the Magic Vs shows that it will sport an in-ward folding design and be equipped with a golden chassis. Its top edge seems to feature a pair of microphones and a speaker grille. The teaser does hint that it will be a thinner device as compared to the original model.

To recall, the original Honor Magic V foldable phone weighed around 293 grams and had a thickness of 14.33mm. Unfortunately, the company hasn’t shared any information on the specifications of the device.

Rumors surrounding the Honor Magic Vs have claimed that it will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset. Under the hood, it will have a 5,000mAh battery, which may support 66W fast charging. The device is likely to weigh around 261 grams. It appears that it may run on the Android 13 OS with the upcoming Magic UI 7.0 on top. Shown below is a leaked schematic of the Magic Vs that recently appeared on Weibo.

Rumors have it that there may not be many changes to the Magic Vs as compared to the original model. To recall, the Magic V featured a 7.9-inch foldable OLED display, a 6.45-inch OLED cover display, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, 12 GB of RAM, 256 GB / 512 GB of storage, a 4,750mAh battery with 66W charging, and a side-facing fingerprint scanner. It came with a 32-megapixel front camera and a 50-megapixel (main) + 50-megapixel (wide) + 50-megapixel (ultra-wide) triple camera unit.

Realme 10 (5G) Full Specifications, Design Leak Reveals Dimensity 700, 50MP Triple Cameras, & More

On Nov. 17, Realme is expected to announce the Realme 10, Realme 10 Pro, and Realme 10 Pro+ in China. Recently, China’s TENAA certification site approved three Realme devices: RMX3615, RMX3663, and RMX3663. These devices have also appeared in the product library of China Telecom. The listings reveal that the RMX3687 model will debut as the Realme 10 Pro+, the RMX3663 variant is the Realme 10 Pro, and the RMX3615 is the vanilla Realme 10. It appears that the company will not be using “5G” in the monikers of these devices. Here is a look at the specifications of the vanilla model.

Realme 10 Specifications (Rumored)

The Realme 10’s China Telecom listing states it has a 6.58-inch display, which appears to be an IPS LCD panel. The waterdrop notch display offers a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2408 pixels. While it is not mentioned in the listing, it is likely that the device may support at least up to 90Hz refresh rate.

On the front, it has an 8-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls. The back panel of the device has a 50-megapixel primary camera. There seems to be some discrepancy with the configuration of the auxiliary cameras. The China Telecom listing states that it coupled with a 2-megapixel camera and a 0.3-megapixel lens, while the TENAA listing revealed that it has a 50-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 2-megapixel triple camera unit.

The Dimensity 700 (MT6833) chipset is present under the hood of the Realme 10. The device is equipped with 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of storage. The other features available on the device include dual SIM, 5G, a USB-C port, a 3.5mm audio jack, a microSD card slot, a side-facing fingerprint scanner, and Android 12 OS.

Realme 10 price and availability (rumored)

The China Telecom listings reveal that the Realme 10 will be available in two variants: 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage for 1,399 Yuan (~$193) and 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage for 1,599 Yuan (~$220). The listing also states that the device will be available for purchase starting Nov. 17. It will be sold in shades like white and black.

The Nothing Ear (Stick) TWS was introduced by Nothing a few weeks ago as the company’s second audio product. The Nothing Ear (Stick) has a cylindrical housing with a rolling mechanism and a semi-in-ear design. The product retains the company’s signature transparent design profile.

The earbuds are set to go on sale starting November 17th in India via Myntra. However, the company will be holding a limited drop sale (flash sale) of the Nothing Ear (Stick) on November 14th. The sale will take place on Flipkart at 12 PM. During this sale, existing customers of Nothing who either own a Nothing Phone or a Nothing Ear (1) earbuds will be eligible for a Rs 1,000 discount. To recall, the Nothing Ear (Stick) has a price tag of Rs 8499 ($104).

Nothing Ear (Stick) specs & features

The Ear (Stick) has a half-in-ear design as opposed to the in-ear design of the Ear (1). This is said to fit better because it doesn’t obtrude as much in the ear. AAC and SBC coding are supported by the internal 12.6 mm dynamic speaker arrangement of these earphones. To prevent sound leakage, there is also a Bass Lock option available.

The TWS can eliminate more background noise thanks to its three microphones. The TWS’s battery life is up to 7 hours without a charger and up to 29 hours with one. There is no wireless charging capability, and the charging connection on the casing is a Type-C plug.

This TWS case is transparent and cylindrical in design. The Nothing Ear (Stick) offers tap, press, and hold buttons on both buds for operation. Additional features include Customise EQ and movements, Low latency mode with the Phone, in-ear identification, Google Fast Pair, Microsoft Swift Pair, Bluetooth 5.2, IP54 certification, Google Fast Pair, and Nothing X app (1).

Multiple reports claim that OPPO will announce the Reno 9 series by November end in China. A recent leak revealed the key specifications of the Reno 9 Pro+, but the details of the Reno 9 and Reno 9 Pro have remained under wraps. Today, popular tipster Digital Chat Station shared the key specification of the upcoming three phones that belong to the Reno 9 family. While he has not mentioned the names of the device, it appears that the leaked device may debut as the Reno 9, Reno 9 Pro, and Reno 9 Pro+ in the Chinese market.

OPPO Reno 9 specifications (rumored)

The latest leak suggests that the Reno 9 will feature the Snapdragon 778G chipset, 4,500mAh battery, and 67W fast charging. For photography, it will have a 64-megapixel + 2-megapixel dual-camera setup.

OPPO Reno 9 Pro specifications (rumored)

OPPO Reno 9 Pro+ specifications (rumored)

The Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 will power the Reno 9 Pro+. It will pack a 4,700mAh battery with 80W charging. Its triple camera setup will have an OIS-enabled 50-megapixel Sony IMX890 primary camera, an 8-megapixel lens, and a 2-megapixel snapper.

Earlier this year during the India Mobile Congress, Lava introduced the Blaze 5G smartphone to Indian customers. Around a month later, the brand has now finally revealed the availability of the smartphone in the country.

According to a Twitter post made by the brand’s official handle, the Lava Blaze 5G will go on sale starting November 15 in the Indian market. The Lava Blaze 5G is priced at Rs 10,999 in a 4GB + 128GB option. It will be available for Rs 9999 as an introductory offer. The smartphone will be available only through Amazon beginning at 12:00 p.m. on November 15. Let’s take a look at the specs and features of the smartphone.

Lava Blaze 5G specs & features

The Lava Blaze 5G comes with a 6.5-inch LCD display with an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels, a refresh rate of 90Hz, and a waterdrop notch. The power button houses a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. A rectangular camera module on the back panel holds a 50MP main sensor, a depth lens, and a macro unit. Apple released the highly anticipated AirPods Pro 2 true wireless earbuds in the market a couple of months ago, and now it appears that the company is facing a minor issue with the production of the TWS earbuds.

In the latest development, Ming-Chi Kuo has reported that Apple has suspended Chinese supplier Goertek from manufacturing second-generation AirPods Pro because of production issues.

Kuo has also added that another Chinese supplier Luxshare has expanded its production of the AirPods Pro 2 to fill the gap, and with this, it has become the exclusive supplier of wireless earbuds for the time being.

While the specific reason behind suspending production at Goertek hasn’t been revealed, Kuo adds that it is likely because of the production issue and not a demand-related issue. It is not yet known when Goertek will resume production of the AirPods Pro.

It is also unclear if the issues affect any second-generation AirPods Pro that have already been sold. It remains to be seen if the latest development will cause any issues in terms of stock inventory for the company, especially during this holiday season.

The new Apple AirPods Pro were released in September this year, along with the new iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro series smartphones. The earbuds are currently in stock at Apple’s online store in the United States. Priced at $249 in the US, the new AirPods Pro features up to twice as much active noise cancellation as the original, along with charging case improvements and more.
