Redmi A1+ Launched: 5,000mAh Battery, Fingerprint Sensor, & More for $85

Last month, Xiaomi debuted the Redmi A1 in India. It is the company’s second smartphone running Android Go after the Redmi Go from 2019.

For the past few weeks, there have been multiple leaks on a plus variant of A1. This handset dubbed Redmi A1+ is now sort of official in Kenya.

The official social media handles of Xiaomi Kenya are teasing the arrival of the Redmi A1 Plus in the country on October 7. However, the phone is already up for sale on Jumia.

Redmi A1 Plus Specifications

Just like the leaks suggested, the Remdi A1+ is the same as the Redmi A1. The only difference is the presence of a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.

Hence, the device sports a 6.52-inch display with a resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels (HD+) and a dewdrop notch. The 20:9 panel offers support for 120Hz touch sampling rate, 400 nits peak brightness level, and 70% of the NTSC color gamut.

The phone is powered by a MediaTek Helio A22 chipset paired with LPDDR4x RAM and eMMC 5.1 storage. It boots Android 12 Go Edition and draws power from a 5,000mAh battery that supports 10W wired charging.

The handset has an 8MP rear camera assisted by a 0.3MP depth sensor and a 5MP camera on the front. The connectivity options on it include dual-SIM, 4G, single-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, GNSS, and a MicroUSB port. The device also offers a dedicated MicroSD card slot and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Last but not least, the Redmi A1+ measures 164.9 x 76.5 x 9.1mm in dimensions, weighs 192g, and arrives in three color options (black, blue, and green).

In Kenya, the Redmi A1 Plus is priced at KSh 10,345 ($85) for the single 3GB + 32GB memory configuration. It is up for sale on Jumia in black and blue color variants.

A new report has revealed some interesting key details regarding the Samsung Galaxy S23 series. The next gen flagship lineup is still a while away, but the rumors and reports have already started surfacing. So let’s have a look at the latest leak.

The latest information arrives from GalaxyClub, which reveals some notable details regarding the Galaxy S23+ and Galaxy S23 Ultra models. The new report revealed the battery capacities of two out of the three models of the flagship lineup. Looking at this report, the Galaxy S23+ carries the model number SM-S916 and has the battery pack that has a rated capacity of 4565mAh. In other words, this basically means the battery should have a typical capacity of around 4,700mAh.

On the other hand, the South Korean tech giant’s top end Galaxy S23 Ultra carries a battery model number EB-BS918ABY. This model had a rated capacity of 4,855mAh and typical capacity of 5,000mAh. As per the report, this is the same exact battery as the one used on the Galaxy S22 Ultra, which is the current gen flagship model of the brand. Apart from the battery details, GalaxyClub also leaked some camera specs of the Galaxy S23+.

Previously, the publication had revealed that the Galaxy S23 series will get an improved 12 megapixel selfie camera. And now, the latest information stated that the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ will both get a 12 megapixel ultra wide angle camera on the rear. This sensor will probably also make its way to the Galaxy S23 Ultra as well. Although, keep in mind that this is still just an unconfirmed report, so take this news with a pinch of salt for now.

Last month, Apple held a launch event for the iPhone 14. At the event, the brand also debuted the new and improved AirPods Pro 2. The brand claimed that the AirPods Pro second-generation will offer improved battery life over the outgoing model. However, it did not reveal the battery specs.

Now, the battery specs of the premium earbuds have finally emerged on the 3C listing, so let’s check them out.

According to the 3C listing, each earbud of the AirPods Pro has a 49.7mAh battery. A2731 and A2729 are the model numbers for the TWS battery.

The 3C listing validated the battery capacity of the charging case in addition to the earbuds. The charging case battery’s model number is A2798, according to the webpage for 3C certification. The new Pro AirPods come with a 523mAh battery from Apple. Apple claims that its premium TWS will last up to six hours on a single charge. Furthermore, with the charging case, the total charge on offer goes up to 30 hours.

Other than the battery improvements, the AirPods Pro 2 features a new H2 chip, which is said to provide transparency mode, improved spatial audio, and noise cancellation that is up to two times better.

New gesture controls for the high-end AirPods include controlling the volume. They continue to offer assistance, whether changing tracks or taking calls. Long pressing of the stem allows users to alternate between several ANC modes.

Back in July, Xiaomi ended software support for the Redmi K20 Pro (aka Mi 9T Pro) globally. Three months later, the company now hints at the end of after-sales support for this handset along with five other phones in China.

The firm made an announcement regarding the end of after-sales support for these phones over the weekend. But the notice was revoked a few hours later.

According to the announcement, the following smartphones will no longer be offered support at the service centers in China.

It is normal for companies to stop offering software and hardware support for their older products. But the Redmi K20 Pro is only 3 years old and people usually replace batteries around this time. We hope Xioami to extend the support a bit longer.

A recent report revealed the promo materials and specifications of the Pova 4. Now, a new leak by tipster Paras Guglani has revealed that the company may also announce a device named Tecno Pova 4 Pro. In addition, the tipster has also shared the renders of the Pova 4 and Pova 4 Pro.

The Helio G99 chipset will be present under the hood of the Pova 4. It will arrive with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB / 256 GB of internal storage. The handset will pack a 6,000mAh battery, which will be a downgrade considering the Pova 3 housed a 7,000mAh battery. The Pova 4 will support 18W charging.

According to Guglani, the Pova 4 Pro will have a 6.6-inch AMOLED FHD+ 90Hz display and carry support for 45W fast charging. It appears that the rest of the specs of the Pro model will be identical to the vanilla variant.

The Pova 4 series is expected to launch by late October in India. The predecessor, Pova 3, was priced at Rs 11,499 (~$141) at launch in India. Hence, it is likely that the Pova 4 may carry a similar price. The Pova 4 series is scheduled to launch on Oct. 6 in Bangladesh.

Samsung is gearing up to launch its next-generation S-series flagship smartphone in the form of the Samsung Galaxy S23 lineup. Ahead of the official launch, which is expected to happen in January, a lot of details about the phones have leaked.

In the latest development, two phone case renders for the Samsung Galaxy S23 have leaked online. It comes just days after detailed renders of the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Plus smartphones were leaked.

The newly leaked phone case renders of the Galaxy S23 reveal that the button placements on the device will remain unchanged compared to the previous generation model. Also, the camera bump on the smartphone appears to have been adjusted to make it a bit thinner.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 will be the cheapest of all three models in the lineup getting launched next year. Based on the leaks so far, the device is expected to feature a 6.1-inch AMOLED display, but it is said to have slightly thicker bezels.

Under the hood, the phone will come powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor or the company’s own Exynos 2300 chipset, both of which are yet to be officially introduced by the respective companies.

The phone’s dimensions are mentioned as 146.3 x 70.8 x 7.6 mm, which matches the dimensions of the Galaxy S22. It is expected to be running the Android 13 operating system out-of-the-box with Samsung One UI custom interface on top, and the battery will support 25W fast charging.

Xiaomi has just announced a new tablet in the Indian market. The company held an online launch livestream in which it announced the Redmi Pad tablet. It arrives with some notable features for its price tag, so let’s have a look at its pricing, specs, design, and more.

Design & Display

The Chinese tech giant has placed an emphasis on the design of the new Redmi Pad. It weighs just 465 grams, which makes it just as light as the Apple iPad Air. On the back, the device has a metal unibody design on the rear that consists of a magnesium aluminium alloy. The rear also houses a camera module on the top left corner. The Redmi Pad is available in multiple colors as well, namely Graphite Gray, Moonlight Silver, Mint Green options.

Meanwhile, the front sports a large 10.6 inch IPS LCD panel that can display over 1 billion colors. This screen has an adaptive sync 90Hz refresh rate and also has a 2K resolution of 2000 x 1200 pixels. This model also has a 400 nits of peak brightness. The screen even comes with Widevine L1 certification that ensures users can get access to higher resolutions on popular OTT platforms like Netflix. It even arrives with SGS eye protection and TUV Rheinland certification as well.

Under the hood, the Redmi Pad is equipped with a 6nm based MediaTek Helio G99 SoC, which is making its debut with the newly announced tablet. This chipset is geared towards offering a capable gaming experience. Typically, tablets either come with an outdated processor, so the new Xiaomi tablet should offer a better gaming experience. The device also comes with up to 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded to 1TB via a microSD card slot.

On the rear, the tablet features an 8 megapixel shooter, with the camera app having a built in document scanner, while the front houses also houses an 8 megapixel selfie camera that has a wide 105 FOV. For audio, the Redmi Pad houses a quad speaker setup that also supports Dolby Atmos as well. As per official notes, it can even be paired with a majority of third party capacitive stylus and pencils. It is powered by a large 8,000mAh battery pack that supports 18W fast charging. Other features include, Bluetooth 5.3 support, Dual band WiFi 5 connectivity, and Android 12 OS out of the box.

Pricing & Availability

The Redmi Pad is offered in three color options as well as three storage configurations. This includes a 3GB + 64GB, 4GB + 128GB, and a 6GB + 128GB variant. The base variant has a price tag of 14,999 INR, while the 4GB model costs 17,999 INR, and the flagship variant costs 19,999 INR. Notably, the Mint Green color option is exclusive to the top end 6GB variant.

Notably, Xiaomi is offering all three variants in special introductory price tag that brings down the price tag for each model. So now, the 3GB + 64GB variant costs 12,999 INR, the 4GB + 128GB version has a price tag of 14,999 INR, lastly the 6GB + 128GB variant will cost 17,999 INR. Interestingly, the company is also offering an additional 10 percent discount through exclusive bank offers on Mi.com. So the respective price tag now falls down to 11,700 INR, 13,500 INR, or 15,300 INR.

The Redmi Pad will go on an exclusive early bird sale for its flagship Mint Green variant starting tomorrow (5th October 2022) at 10 am on Mi.com. On the other hand, all the other variants will go on sale on October 5 as well, with its sale beginning at 12 pm noon, but this variant will be available through Flipkart, Mi Home, and even select retail stores as well.

Reports about the Indian telecom giant Reliance Jio working on an affordable laptop called JioBook first surfaced in early 2021. Now, the company has silently launched the laptop in the country.

The JioBook is already on sale via the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) and is also on display at the ongoing India Mobile Congress (IMC 2022) at Pragati Maidan in Delhi. The JioBook is reasonably priced and ideal for individuals on a limited budget. Unfortunately, it appears that only government employees can buy the laptop at the moment, though we predict that this will change quickly and it will be available to everyone soon.

JioBook specifications

The JioBook has a plastic body and the back panel along with the Windows key on the keyboard has the Jio branding. The main highlight for many is the inbuilt 4G LTE support in the laptop.

The device has an 11.6-inch TN display with an HD resolution of 1366×768. The laptop is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 chipset that brings along the Adreno 610GPU. It comes with 2GB of LPDDR4X RAM (not expandable) and the listing reveals it has 32GB of memory on board. Its operating system is listed as JioOS.

The rumor mill has been leaking information about the Redmi Note 11 Pro 2023 since last month. The device has already bagged multiple certifications, which indicates that its launch is imminent. While it will be released in multiple markets, it appears that Redmi may not launch the Redmi Note 11 Pro 2023 in one major market.

According to tipster Paras Guglani, the Redmi Note 11 Pro 2023 will be aimed toward the global markets. Even though India is a major market for Redmi phones, the Note 11 Pro 2023 will not be released in the country, claims the tipster.

Previous reports have revealed that the Redmi Note 11 Pro 2023’s model number is 2209116AG. The device has been approved by the ECC and FCC certification platforms. In addition, it has also appeared on the Google Play Console. The device was supposed to debut in September, but it didn’t go official. In all likelihood, it may launch as early as this month.

Rumors are rife that the Redmi Note 11 Pro 2023 will not be too different from the Redmi Note 10 Pro, which debuted last year. The Note 10 Pro has a 6.67-inch AMOLED FHD+ 120Hz display and is powered by the Snapdragon 732G chipset. It features 8 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128 GB of UFS 2.2 storage. The phone houses a 5,020mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. It comes equipped with a side-facing fingerprint scanner.

The Note 10 Pro has a 16-megapixel front-facing camera. The rear shell of the phone has a 108-megapixel (main) + 8-megapixel (ultra-wide) + 5-megapixel (macro) + 2-megapixel (depth) quad-camera setup. The Indian version of the phone has a 64-megapixel camera instead of the 108-megapixel snapper.

Ever since Sony‘s PlayStation 5 made its initial debut in late 2020, hackers were all over the console in attempts to jailbreak it. In 2021, the console’s Debug menu was unlocked, signaling a breakthrough. Almost a year later, Twitter users @StretchEcho and @SpecterDev successfully circumvented Sony’s security using a WebKit exploit.

For those unaware, jailbreaking is the process of exploiting the flaws of a locked-down electronic device to install unauthorized software, which in this case would be pirated PS5 game titles.

The hack and the associated Python scripts can be found on Spectre Dev’s GitHub page. Only PlayStation 5 systems running firmware version 4.03 or lower are compatible with it. Both console versions may be jailbroken, although doing so requires a PC or Mac. A kernel panic occurred when one user attempted to run it on version 4.50. Even with the correct version, it may need to be executed more than once because it doesn’t always function.

The exploit isn’t as good as some of the previous PlayStation 4 jailbreaks because it doesn’t allow code to be executed on the machine. The Debug menu and writing data to the hard disc are still accessible, which could allow developers to explore the internals of the PS5 further, enabling the development of unofficial patches and emulation for older consoles.

Design

The Xiaomi Civi 2 has a very refined design, as already mentioned, it is one of the best in this aspect. It is built with premium materials including aluminum for the frame and glass for the rear side, protected by Gorilla Glass 5. It is one of the thinnest phones out there as it is just 7.2 mm thick, and it is even one of the most lightweight with a weight of just 172 grams. Last but not least, it is the first Android phone with something similar to the Dynamic Island by Apple: indeed, it has a pill shaped punch hole placed centrally on the upper part of the display. The Vivo V25 Pro is another beautiful phone with its glass back and a color changing rear cover when exposed to UV rays (such as under direct sunlight). But it is not able to compete with its rival in this comparison.

If we consider the specs on the paper, the Xiaomi Civi 2 has a superior display. It is an AMOLED panel able to show up to one billion colors and is protected by Gorilla Glass 5. The Vivo V25 Pro has a faster UFS 3.1 internal storage, but the chipset is inferior: a Dimensity 1300 by Mediatek built with a 6 nm production process and with an octa-core architecture composed of a Cortex A78 CPU running at a max frequency of 3 GHz, three Cortex A78 CPUs running at 2.6 GHz, four Cortex A55 CPUs running at 2 GHz, and a Mali G77 MC9 GPU. Alongside the Dimensity 1300, there are up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of storage. These phones run Android 12 out of the box and they are supposed to get at least two major updates to the next Android versions.

Camera

The rear camera departments of these devices are very different. The main camera found on the Vivo V25 Pro is more interesting not only due to its 64 MP resolution but especially due to the presence of optical stabilization. On the other hand, the Xiaomi Civi 2 lacks OIS but comes with a better 20 MP ultrawide camera. Last but not least, the Civi has a superior front camera setup including two sensors with 32 MP resolutions; one of them is an ultrawide camera and there is also a front-facing LED flash with each flash sporting two LEDs.

With the Vivo V25 Pro, you can obtain a longer battery life in several scenarios due to the presence of a bigger battery: the battery capacity of this phone is 4830 mAh. The Xiaomi Civi 2 has just 4500 mAh, so it is unlikely to provide a comparable battery life. The charging speeds are more or less the same because these phones feature similar charging technologies.

Price

The starting price of the Vivo V25 Pro for the Indian market roughly translates into €440/$432 at the actual change, while the Xiaomi Civi 2 starts from €350/$344 at the actual change in the Chinese market. Which one would you pick?

The seeming disruptive vibes from LeTV have not prevented the brand from releasing the Super TV F50 Pro. The new product comes in the aftermath of the auction of 908 LeTV trademarks and the company moving out of its building. The LeTV Super TV F50 Pro comes with a 50-inch full screen, a 3840 x 2160 pixels resolution, and a 98.6% screen-to-body ratio.

The Super TV F50 Pro has a 92% DCI-P3 color gamut and 1.07 billion colors. It sports a unibody metal integrated body design and is equipped with a 4-core A55 processor. The Super TV F50 Pro has a Mali-G31 MP2 GPU and comes with a 2GB+16GB storage configuration. Two 8W speakers provide the audio output for the TV which runs on EUI 8.0 and features a 16-key intelligent voice remote control. You can use the voice remote control to modulate various operations including playing videos, opening applications, or even getting the weather report.

There are several connectivity options for the Super TV F50 Pro including HDMI 2.0, USB 2.0, AV, and audio output for headphones. It also has a digital audio output, a network interface, and an analog/digital TV connection.

The LeTV Super TV F50 Pro is available in China via JD.com at an introductory price of 1,349 yuan (~$191). LeTV has not provided any global availability details for the product at this time.

The Nokia X30 5G is now available on order in Europe and the United Kingdom. The smartphone comes in blue and ice white color options as well as two memory configurations. This is coming barely a month after it was introduced at the IFA 2022.

The Nokia X30 5G is powered by a Snapdragon 695 processor and has three high-resolution cameras. The 6.43-inch AMOLED screen of the X30 5G has a 90Hz refresh rate and it weighs about 185g. The smartphone has a 4,200mAh battery which can be charged at 33W via USB 3.0. The Nokia X30 5G’s display has a 1080p resolution and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. The smartphone is IP67-certified for water resistance even underwater.

The camera setup of the X30 5G consists of a 50MP primary camera, a 13MP ultra-wide-angle module, and a 16MP front camera. The smartphone will come with Android 12 and is expected to receive three Android upgrades in its lifetime. The RAM/ storage configuration of the X30 5G are 6GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB options. The package includes a complimentary clear case for orders from the Eurozone and UK.

HMD Global, owners of the Nokia brand, is offering the X30 5G in Europe for €519 (~$509) and €549 (~$538) for the 6GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB variants respectively. The corresponding prices of the models in the UK are £399 (~$450) and £439 (~$495) respectively.

The newest budget-friendly A series phone from OPPO, the A17, has been launched in India. This comes not too long after it was unveiled in Malaysia. The new phone runs Android 12 and boasts a 6.56-inch HD+ screen with a water drop notch that holds a 5MP camera and more.

The device is powered by a MediaTek Helio P35 processor under the hood. The processor is backed up by 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The phone also has 4GB of additional virtual RAM.

On the back, the smartphone boasts a dual camera configuration with a 50MP f/1.8 main camera and a 2MP depth sensor. The front-facing camera is a 5MP f/2.2 fixed-focus one. The main camera system includes AI, 360-degree Fill Light, Portrait Retouching, HDR, and other image technologies.

The A17 is powered by a 5000mAh battery and includes certain battery-saving features like Super Power Saving Mode and Super Nighttime Standby. Android 12 via ColorOS 12.1, IPX4 water resistance, and USB-C are also important features. Samsung is reportedly working on a new A-series smartphone. The device in question is called the Galaxy A54, and it will probably launch next year. While we are still months away from its formal debut, a new report is here with the camera specs of the upcoming smartphone. Let’s have a closer look at the details.

According to a GalaxyClub report, the upcoming Galaxy A54 will feature a 50MP main camera. The publication didn’t reveal any details about the other cameras. However, we can expect the device to come with a triple camera setup.

As per a previous report, Samsung is planning to drop depth cameras from the Galaxy A54, which means the smartphone will have a wide-angle camera, an ultra-wide camera, and a macro camera. The macro sensor is said to be 5MP and the ultrawide lens could also be 5MP.

Some might say this is a camera downgrade since the older Galaxy A53 and A52 came with a 64MP primary camera. But higher megapixel counts do not necessarily equate to better pictures. More megapixels will only allow you to enlarge and crop pictures without revealing individual pixels.

Leaks and rumors about the Galaxy A54 have just started to pick up, so we don’t have much information about its specifications. The device is likely to launch next year as a successor to the Galaxy A53.

To recall, the A53 debuted earlier this year with a 6.5-inch FHD+ SuperAMOLED Infinity-O display offering a 120Hz refresh rate, and 800 nits of brightness. It is powered by a 5nm Exynos 1280 SoC with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. It has a 5,000mAh battery and supports 25W charging. The handset comes pre-installed with One UI 4 with Samsung’s Knox security.
