POCO F4 5G is tough to repair with 5.5/10 reparability rating

POCO launched the POCO F4 5G last month, it was dubbed the new ‘flagship killer’. The device became a huge hit and broke all sales records in India. Although the device became critically as well as publicly acclaimed, the latest teardown of the device by renowned tech YouTuber PBKReviews tells a story that’s a bit concerning when it comes to the reparability of the device.

Poco F4 5g highest selling flagship

In a PBKReviews teardown video, the reviewer gave the POCO F4 5G a 5.5/10 rating for repairability. According to the reviewer, the device’s design was not properly thought out with regard to repairability. Although it isn’t impossible, replacing a screen does require feeding the flex cable through the midframe before applying glue.

It’s really similar to opening any other phone: heat up the back panel and pry all the way around to break the adhesive. Without any issues, the panel comes off, and by removing the adhesive and reinstalling the camera glass, it looks that the back cover can still function.

The battery and other components can be separated after removing 17 Phillips screws and the top shield that is fitted with antenna lines and graphite for heat conduction. The front-facing camera is bonded in place so removing it could actually damage the front camera itself, but the back camera modules can be simply removed and replaced once the mainboard has been removed. Copper and graphite are installed on the mainboard’s back for thermal conduction.

The 4,500 mAh battery is simple to remove thanks to the big, sturdy battery pull-tabs. Another couple of flex cables that connect the main board to the sub-board are made visible when the battery is removed. The flex cables for the power button, SIM tray, and charge port all need to be taken out.

Honor MagicBook 14 AMD Ryzen 2022 edition teased

Earlier this year, Honor refreshed the MagicBook 14 series with the latest cutting-edge Intel 12th-Gen chipsets. Notably, the Chinese tech giant has teased the 2022-refresh of the MagicBook 14 AMD Ryzen Edition series to the latest Ryzen 6000 series platform.

Honor has officially announced that the Honor MagicBook 14 Ryzen Edition will be released at the Honor All-Scenario Conference on July 21st at 19:30 Chinese Time, using OS Turbo technology to achieve great performance and long battery life.

The predecessor of this year’s variant runs on AMD Ryzen 5000 series processor. At CES 2021, AMD revealed its Ryzen 5000 Mobile processors (CPU), bringing powerful mobile chips to its array of powerful desktop CPUs. These turned out to be highly successful, and AMD released Ryzen 6000 Mobile CPUs at CES 2022 year later in an effort to capitalize on the popularity of Ryzen 5000.

Both the Ryzen 5000 Mobile and Ryzen 6000 Mobile processors are divided into H-series and U-series choices, just like the Ryzen 4000 Mobile CPUs before them.
The redesigned AMD Zen 3+ core, which is designed to give greater performance per watt, serves as the foundation for AMD Ryzen 6000 processors. In comparison to the 5000 series, the chips have clock rates of up to 5GHz, 1.3x better processing speeds, and up to 2.1x quicker graphics.

The AMD version of the MagicBook 14 may come with Ryzen 6600U and 6800U processors. The laptop is 15.9mm thick, has an all-metal body, and is available in star grey and glacier silver.

The Ryzen 6000 CPUs can process up to 16 threads and have up to eight cores, each of which can handle numerous tasks at once. AMD claims that compared to the 5000 series cards, the CPUs are capable of up to 11 percent greater single-single thread performance and up to 28 percent quicker multithreaded performance. The 2022 MagicBook 14 Ryzen Edition features a discreet Nvidia Geforce GTX 2050 graphics card.

Additionally, this is the first ultra-compact laptop with Honor OS Turbo technology.

The second half of the year has kicked off. Several smartphone OEMs in China have started announcing new flagship phones powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. Other Chinese brands are also expected to announce SD8+G1 flagship phones in the remaining days of this month. One major brand that has been silent is Vivo. While the company unveiled the Vivo Y77 5G last week, there is no word on any new flagship or high-end phones from the brand. New information (via) reveals that Vivo has at least two pipelines, which may go official in August in China. Unfortunately, none of these are flagship phones powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip.

Vivo V2220A 3C certified

A new Vivo phone with model number V2220A has bagged 3C certification in China. The 5G-ready device has been spotted with an 80W charger at 3C. The Vivo S15 Pro, Vivo X80, Vivo X80 Pro, Vivo X Note, and Vivo Y77 5G are some of the Vivo smartphones that carry support for 80W charging.

A new device with a V2166BA model number, which appears to be a Y33s 5G variant, has been approved by the TENAA authority of China. Apple MacBook Air powered by M2 processor now available for purchase

Last month, Apple introduced the new M2 chipset that is powering the company’s newly launched MacBook Air and MacBook Pro laptops. While the MacBook Pro is available for purchase, the relatively cheaper Air model didn’t go on sale until now.

The new Apple MacBook Air powered by the M2 chipset was available to pre-order for the last few days and today, the laptop officially goes on sale in several markets.

Apple MacBook Air 2022

Apple MacBook Air continues the fanless design and looks quite similar to the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models of last year. Instead of the regular 13.3-inch display, the laptop has a new 13.6-inch display with up to 500 nits of brightness. The screen is said to be 25 percent brighter than its predecessor and it comes with support for 1 billion colors.

Powered by the new M2 processor, Apple claims that the Final Cut Pro performance is nearly 40 percent faster than on the M1 Air and Photoshop is up to 20 percent faster. There are two Thunderbolt ports on the left side, along with a headphone jack with support for high-impedance headphones.

It also comes with an updated 1080p camera along with four speakers and three microphones. Apple said that there’s also support for Dolby Atmos spatial audio. The Magic Keyboard now has a full row of function keys with Touch ID and Force Touch trackpad. It also has added support for the MagSafe connector for charging.

The laptop measures just 11.3 millimeters thick and weighs 2.7 pounds (1.2 kilograms). As for the battery life, the company is promising up to 18 hours of video playback and with an optional 67-watt power adapter it can charge up to 50 percent in 30 minutes.

The new Apple MacBook Air has a starting price of $1,199 for the base model and goes up to $2,499 for the top-end model. This makes it a bit more expensive than the M1-powered MacBook Air launched a couple of years ago.
