Japan is planning on setting up a domestic manufacturing base that will produce cutting edge 2nm process based chips. The country will also be working with the US to help realize these plans by the year 2025.
According to a NikkeiAsiareport, Japan is gearing up to join the race in commercializing the next generation of advanced chipsets. Thus, Tokyo and Washington will be providing support to each other through a semiconductor technology partnership. Furthermore, this cooperation will also involve private companies from both countries as well, which will help in research on design and mass production as well. Notably, the TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company) is already on its way to developing mass production technology for its advanced 2nm process.
Meanwhile, Japan is seeking to secure a stable supply of semiconductors through domestic production of next gen chips. At the same time, the partnership with the US might also include the establishment of a new company or Japanese corporations may even set up a new manufacturing hub as well. As of right now, the nation’s Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry is offering subsidies to lower the cost of research and development into advanced semiconductors.
The joint research will begin this year, with a research and mass production center planned to be formed between 2025 and 2027. Notably, the world’s largest contract chipmaker, TSMC, is also setting up a chip fab in Japan’s Kumamoto Prefecture. However, this plant will not produce advanced chips and focus on chip technology ranging from 10nm to 20nm processes.
Apple launched its new iPhone 13 variants recently. Apart from the new colors, these devices are the same iPhone 13 devices we saw last year. However, the colors make the new iPhones stand out from their similar counterparts from last year. But it is not a good practice to use the phone as it is without any protection. Something as basic as a back cover is necessary for an iPhone. Otherwise, broken back glass could set you back well over half the price of the iPhone.
So let’s look at some of the best iPhone 13 cases to protect your smartphone.
Choosing a case might be more confusing than choosing a smartphone. There are countless brands and options when it comes to iPhone 13 cases in the market right now. Official cases from Apple are easy choices to start. Or you could get yourself a fancy case from a third-party dealer.
Best iPhone 13 cases and covers
Official Apple Cases
There are countless choices for you to choose from the vast collection of smartphone cases. Apple sells cases under the “official iPhone cases” label through their retail stores and website. You can purchase these official accessories if you don’t like to stray out of the Apple ecosystem. Apple offers its cases in materials including silicone, leather, and transparent materials. You can also buy cases from third-party dealers from the Apple store. However, keep in mind that these cases come at a premium like all other Apple products. Here are the models from Apple that are worth giving a try.
Apple Silicone Case with MagSafe
The silicone case from Apple is available for almost all iPhones, and they’ve now updated it with MagSafe. Even though the silicone cases cost in the range of 50s, they do feel premium for what you’re paying. These cases have a smooth texture that won’t compromise the grip. There is an inner microfiber layer to protect the phone from scratches. Also, you can choose from a plethora of colors while buying a silicone case for your iPhone 13.
If you’re someone who isn’t interested in spoiling the native color and look of your smartphone, you might get yourself a clear case. The clear case from Apple follows a minimalist design and offers sufficient grip. These cases use optically clear polycarbonate and other flexible materials. A scratch-resistant coating on either side of the case guarantees some degree of scratch resistance. Apple claims they’ve optimized these cases to prevent yellowing over time.
Leather is one of the best choices if you’re looking for a premium phone case. No one knows this better than Apple. Their custom Leather cases feel soft to the touch. Genuine leather will develop a natural patina over time. Patina will further enrich the look and feel of the material.
With the Apple official cases out of the way, let’s see some of the best protective cases for your brand new iPhone 13. As we said, choosing a smartphone case can be more confusing than choosing a smartphone. Rugged phone cases offer unmatched protection, but they often add half a pound to the overall weight of the package. Clear phone cases are a great way to show off the Apple logo without actually showing off the Apple logo. Thin phone cases protect your device without taking up too much real estate. Wallet and kickstand cases offer additional functionality. Silicone cases keep a low profile while ensuring extreme comfort for extended periods of use. Fancy and colored phone cases are a great way of mirroring your thoughts.

It was initially speculated to launch as an X-series phone. However, tipster Blad is Panda has claimed that it will be arriving as a Y-series phone.
The tipster has claimed that the V2219A will be a Vivo Y77 series. He added that it will be the first Y-series phone to arrive with support for 80W fast charging. At the same time, another tipster, Paras Guglani, has also tipped that in the coming month (July) in China, Vivo will announce the Y77 5G series with specs like the Dimensity 8100 chipset and 80W charging. The lineup may include two devices, such as the Vivo Y77 5G and Vivo Y77 Pro 5G.
Coming to the specs of the Vivo V2219A, it has a 6.67-inch AMOLED FHD+ display and is powered by a 2.2GHz octa-core processor. The V2219A does not seem to be powered by the Dimensity 8100 SoC.
The device is equipped with up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of internal storage. There is no microSD card slot on the device. It will probably come pre-installed with the Android 12 OS.
The V2219A packs a 4,380mAh (rated capacity) dual-cell battery, which seemingly supports 80W fast charging. It is unclear whether the device has an in-display or a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The device features an 8-megapixel camera on the front and a 50-megapixel + 2-megapixel dual-camera system on the back. The device measures 8.59mm in thickness and weighs around 194 grams. It will be available in black and white colors.
Last week, tipster Yogesh Brar teamed up with Onsitego to release the leaked renders of a OnePlus flagship, which may arrive in the market with the OnePlus 10T name. Now, the same tipster has collaborated with the publication My Smart Price to share fresh renders of another OnePlus phone that sports a design similar to the OnePlus 10 Pro. Since it has a familiar design, it could be the vanilla OnePlus 10 smartphone.

The leaked renders of the alleged OnePlus 10 show that it has a punch-hole display on the front. The rear design of the phone seems to be inspired by the OnePlus 10 Pro. The camera module, which fuses with the frame of the device, houses three cameras and an LED flash but lacks the Hasselblad branding. The handset also lacks an alert slider.
According to Brar, the rear camera setup of the device comprises a 50-megapixel main camera with an f/1.8 aperture, an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 2-megapixel macro. On the front, it has a 16-megapixel selfie camera. It has a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz, a touch sampling rate of 360Hz, 10-bit color, HDR10+ support, and sRGB and P3 color gamut. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 Plus chipset and has a 4,800mAh battery that supports 150W fast charging.
It will come in two LPPDR5 RAM + UFS 3.1 storage variants, such as 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage. It will offer other features such as 2×2 MIMO, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, an in-screen fingerprint scanner, a USB-C port, and dual speakers. It will be available in black and white. The source also said that the device’s final design will be set by the end of this month and that it will go into production in July.
This device has inferior front and rear cameras as compared to the alleged OnePlus 10T. The rest of the specs seem to be identical on both devices. Readers should note that the final marketing names of both devices are yet to be confirmed.

Design
The Honor 70, the Pro, and the Pro Plus variants have the same design and they only differ in their color variants. The vanilla version, for example, comes with very original color options including special textures on the rear side, as well as the Pro Plus. But overall, the design scheme does not change between these three handsets. What changes are the dimensions, the thickness, and the weight. The vanilla version comes with a more compact design because it has a smaller display. Further, it is thinner and lighter than the Pro variants. The Honor 70 Pro and the Pro Plus have the same bigger dimensions and the same thicker body.
Display
All of these phones come with amazing displays and they are at the same level. They provide you with great OLED panels able to show up to one billion colors with a Full HD+ resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate. The color reproduction is very realistic, the blacks are very deep, and there is an in-display fingerprint reader on each of these phones. The Honor 70 Pro and the Pro Plus have exactly the same panel with a punch hole placed centrally, while the vanilla Honor 70 only differs because of a smaller display, but not so smaller. These handsets are equipped with great stereo speakers, but they do not offer a 3.5 mm audio jack.
Specs & Software
Among the most important difference between these three handsets, there is definitely the processor. The Honor 70 is considered a mid-ranger because it sports a Snapdragon 778G+ mobile platform built at 6 nm with a max frequency of 2.5 GHz. The Honor 70 Pro comes right after with a MediaTek Dimensity 8000 mobile platform running at a max frequency of 2.75 GHz. At last, the Honor 70 Pro Plus is the flagship because it sports the most powerful Mediatek chipset out there: the Dimensity 9000 built at 4 nm and running at a max frequency of 3.05 GHz. With the exception of the Pro Plus variant coming with up to 256 GB of internal storage, all the phones sport a max amount of storage of 512 GB, as well as 12 GB of RAM in the most advanced configurations. They run Android 12 customized by Magic UI 6.1.
Camera
All the phones of the trio come with a triple camera including a 54 MP main sensor and a 50 MP ultrawide lens. The Honor 70 Pro and the Pro Plus replace the useless 2 MP macro sensor of the vanilla version with an 8 MP telephoto lens supporting 3x optical zoom and OIS, that is the reason why they have better zoom capabilities. They also replace the 32 MP main camera of the vanilla version with a superior 50 MP snapper.
Despite the Honor 70 being the most affordable and even the thinnest handset of the trio, it is equipped with a bigger battery, with a capacity of 4800 mAh instead of the 4500 mAh capacity found on the remaining models. So it is able to provide a longer battery life on a single charge. On the other hand, the Pro and the Pro Plus are able to charge quicker thanks to 100W fast charging. All of these phones support reverse charging allowing you to use the phone as a power bank to charge other devices.
Price
The starting price of the Honor 70 in China roughly translates to €380/$395, the Honor 70 Pro starts from €520/$542 in its base configuration with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of native storage, and the Pro Plus starts from €600/$625 in the same configuration. The Honor 70 Pro and the Pro+ only differ in the processor, while there are several other differences when it comes to the vanilla version. Which one would you pick?
