As per the auction listing on StockX, the startup’s first product, the true wireless earbuds, has recorded the highest bid of 1,029 US Dollars. This is more than 10 times its original retail price, which is set at 99 US Dollars. While the earbuds will practically be the same as the ones that will go on sale from July 27, these are limited editions and are serialized between 1 to 100. In other words, it is likely to be highly sought after by enthusiasts that can’t wait to get their hands on the new Ear 1 TWS earbuds.
The auction will be over tomorrow, so for those interested, you still have a chance on grabbing a limited edition pair. Carl Pei has been quite secretive with Nothing’s first product, but the official did reveal key specifications of the earbuds in a recent interview. The Ear 1 TWS earbuds will arrive with active noise cancellation support and will offer up to 36 hours of battery life depending on use.

A new report has revealed that upcoming flagship smartphones from China based vendors will re-adopt ToF camera sensors (Time of Flight). The news arrives as even Apple gears up to include new ToF based LiDAR sensors on its 2021 iPhone Pro lineup.
HONOR 50 Pro
According to a DigiTimesreport, industry sources close to the matter have revealed that Chinese brands are raising orders for components and lenses related to the ToF cameras. An example being Honor, which recently adopted ToF sensors on its flagship Honor 50 Pro series through Taiwan based supply chain. The suppliers include GaAs foundries Win Semiconductors, Advanced Wireless Semiconductor (AWSC), and others that will also supply Apple with 3D face ID sensors and ToF LiDAR scanners for iPhones.
Furthermore, the source added that certain Huawei P50 series smartphone models will also adopt ToF cameras as well. On the other hand, major smartphone maker, Samsung Electronics, might not be bringing back ToF cameras in its new premium grade flagship handsets and is unlikely to release a smartphone that features this camera this year.
3D ToF sensing technology on OPPO R17 Pro
Although, the source believes that the Taiwanese suppliers are expected to see robust orders in the second half of this year, partly due to strong sales of 5G PA devices and VSCEL chips for new iPhones and flagship smartphones from China based vendors.

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Tecno Mobile has launched the Tecno Pop 4 LTE smartphone in the Philippines. The Pop 4 LTE seems to be customized for the Philippines market and is hugely affordable for its stated price of Php 3,590 (~$71), which is the cheapest it can get.
Tecno has carved a niche globally as a company with a significant focus on the lower end of the consumer spectrum, delivering some well-kitted smartphones for quite impressive and affordable prices worldwide. The possible thing about the Tecno Pop 4 LTE is that it may be powered by a cheaper and less powerful chipset, which has implications performance-wise. The MediaTek Quad-Core processor and the Android 10 Go Edition operating system it runs will give it some lift.
The specs look good for its price, as the Tecno Pop 4 LTE has a dual SIM setup, a massive 5,000mAh battery, and a 6.52-inch high-definition IPS screen. The memory spec for the Tecno Pop 4 LTE is 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which is expandable via the MicroSD slot. The 2GB of RAM implies that the device cannot pack many applications due to the limited space. The camera setup consists of 5MP front and rear cameras, with the rear camera also sporting QVGA (AI) and LED flash. The smartphone supports 4G LTE which distinguishes it from the original POP 4 launched last year. Further, there is a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner as an additional layer of security for the user.
Tecno Pop 4 LTE supports wireless and Bluetooth connectivity, has GPS functionality, and is already available in the Philippines via Shopee stores across the country.
Tecno is a subsidiary of Transsion Holdings. The parent company’s market share rose by up to 60% in the first half of 2021 emerging as a major player in Africa, South East Asia, the Middle East, and South America. Apparently, to consolidate its market share, the brand is releasing the budget Pop 4 LTE to cater to the needs of low-income earners in targeted markets. The brand is also targeting the high-end market with the recent launch of its first flagship model – the Tecno Phantom X.
Recently, Google and Samsung announced that they would be merging their respective Wear and Tizen OS to better compete in the wearables market. And now, it seems that Qualcomm will play a major role in increasing the competitiveness in the smartwatch segment by releasing new Snapdragon Wear processors soon.
For those unaware, Wear OS smartwatches have received criticism in the past were the outdated Qualcomm chips that powered them. But with Google pushing to refresh its Wear OS platform through the new merger, the American chip maker is also seeking to launch new and more powerful wearable based processors as well. At the moment, one of the newest chips includes Snapdragon 4100 and 4100+, but many OEMs have yet to adopt these chips.
In other words, many vendors still lag behind Apple who dominates the segment with its Apple Watch. Although, the chip maker announced that it plans on expanding its wearable chip portfolio by launching new Snapdragon Wear processors “across segments over the next year.” Furthermore, the company also announced its new Wearables Ecosystem Accelerator program, which would seek to have Qualcomm be at the center of the new wave of Wear OS devices.
Earlier today (21st July 2021), Nokia has just launched new products for the Chinese market. This includes new Bluetooth speakers along with a true wireless earbuds, namely SP-101 and BH-205.
Talking about the speakers first, the Finnish tech giant has just announced a new Bluetooth speaker that weighs just 160 grams. In other words, it is relatively small measuring just 5 centimeters tall, and is built with portability in mind. It arrives with IPX4 splash resistance and houses a 43mm dynamic coil. Under the hood, the speakers are powered by an 800mAh battery pack that enables it to offer 20 hours of playback at 50 percent volume levels.
The Nokia SP-101 also houses an in built microphone that makes it support calls and has the play/pause, power, and volume buttons on the side. The company has also added support for stereo combinations, which allow two of the same speaker to work as left and right channels. Arriving at the new earbuds, the brand also launched the new BH-205 TWS earphones that offer up to 6 hours of battery from the buds alone and up to 36 hours of battery life when paired with the charging case.
It also supports AAC audio decoding technology along with a USB Type C port. The hearables supports both Android and iOS and offers tap controls on either bud for various actions. The earbuds will be available for purchase starting from July 28 for an initial launch price of 199 Yuan. Similarly, the new Bluetooth speakers will also launch on the same date with an identical initial launch price of 199 Yuan.
In an interview with CNet, Carl Pei revealed some additional details regarding the startup’s first product launch and the challenges that were faced during the development process. Pei stated that the company was originally planning on an April 2021 launch for its earbuds, although, issues in the initial iterations of the Ear 1 TWS earbuds caused the firm to delay the launch. The executive has emphasized its focus on ‘transparent products’ that will fit seamlessly into people’s lives.
Thus, the Ear 1 will be mostly transparent, even when paired with their charging case. One can expect a solid white module in the charging case that also houses a USB charging port. The company will also be including red and black contact points to match with the color on the earbuds, making it easier to recognize which respective slots in the charging case house the earbuds. Furthermore, an inverted bubble in the plastic will hold the buds in place. Apparently, this could also be used by fidgeters that enjoy spinning the entire case.
The Nothing Ear (1) TWS earbud will impressively also support wireless charging technology as well. Another major aspect will be its active noise cancellation support, with the earbuds being powered by a 570mAh battery pack that supports fast charging as well. With ANC on, Pei claimed that users can expect up to 24 hours of battery life with the case and up to 36 hours of battery life with ANC off. Furthermore, just 10 minutes of charging the buds in the case will offer up to six to eight hours of battery life, depending on whether ANC is active.
Notably, Pei stated that true wireless earbuds as Nothing’s first product made the best sense for the new startup and that it expects to ship around 310 million units within this year. He believed that differentiating the earphones was also just as important since most TWS earbuds in the market usually look the same, “white with a stem.”
Realme’s DIZO recently announced two earbuds in the Indian market dubbed DIZO Wireless neckband and DIZO GoPods D TWS earbuds. The DIZO Wireless neckband is priced at ₹1,499 (~$20) and the GoPods D is priced at ₹1,599 (~$21). Interestingly, both the earbuds are now available for booking at just ₹1.

Last year, Apple launched the iPhone 12 series and for the first time, adding 5G support to its smartphones. Now, the Cupertino-based tech giant is going all-in with the next-generation connectivity support.
This year, all the models in the iPhone 13 series will have 5G connectivity support, similar to iPhone 12 lineup. But not only that, all the iPhones getting launched in 2022 will have 5G connectivity, including the next-generation iPhone SE.
Apple iPhone SE 2020
While the Apple iPhone SE 2022 will be getting 5G support, the company is expected to get rid of the iPhone Mini model next year as the demand for the model with a smaller screen didn’t meet the company’s expectations.
A new report from Nikkei Asia claims that the upcoming iPhone SE, which will get launched in the first half of 2022, will come powered by the Apple A15 Bionic chipset which will be powering this year’s iPhone models. It will also pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon X60 modem to enable 5G connectivity support.
Apple started offering OLED screens for the entire iPhone 12 lineup but the upcoming iPhone SE model will have an LCD display of 4.7-inch, claims the report citing four people aware of the development. It is expected to carry the same pricing as the current-generation model — $399.
It makes sense for Apple to go all-in when it comes to offering 5G connectivity on its smartphones given that the company was a later come to this new technology as most of its rivals, including Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO, etc. started offering 5G support on their devices, both premium and mid-range, since past couple of years.
Apple has been rumored to launch the next-generation iPad Mini model which has been leaked a few times in the past. Now, a new report from 9to5Mac has revealed more details about this upcoming tablet.
Apple iPad Mini 6th Generation Renders
The report, citing sources aware of the matter, reveals that the upcoming iPad Mini is codenamed J310. It also confirms that the tablet will come powered by the Apple A15 Bionic chipset, which is expected to power the upcoming iPhone 13 lineup as well. The company could launch the A15X version for the new iPad models coming this year.
It reiterates what was said earlier about the device — that the tablet will feature a design similar to the fourth-generation iPad Air. This time, the iPad Mini won’t be featuring a home button and further, the bezels around the display are now thinner and uniform. It is also said that the product will now come with a USB Type-C port instead of the company’s proprietary Lightning port.
Apart from this, the new report also claims that the Cupertino-based technology giant will be launching an updated version of the entry-level 10.2-inch iPad in the month of September which will be powered by the Apple A13 Bionic chipset, looking similar to the iPad Air 3 model which was launched in 2019.
Well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had previously said that the upcoming iPad Mini model is expected to come with a display size between 8.5-inch and 9-inch. Apple had last updated the iPad Mini in 2019 with A12 SoC and Apple Pencil support.
A couple of months ago, in May this year, Xiaomi had launched its Redmi AirDots 3 Pro true wireless earphones in its home market China. Now, the company has launched the same product but with a different.
The Redmi Buds 3 Pro is now officially launched globally. The pair of the earphone is priced at $60 but as an introductory offer, the TWS earphones are available for the price of $40, offering a discount.
In terms of specifications, it remains the same as the Air Dots 3 Pro launched earlier this year. It packs 9mm drivers and three microphones for noise cancelation and voice pickup. The Adaptive Noise Cancellation feature on the earphones is claimed to block out 35dB of outside noise and offers ultra-low latency of 69ms.
For connectivity, there’s Bluetooth 5.2 with support for simultaneous connection to two devices at once. As for the battery life, the company claims that it can offer up to 28 hours of battery life using the charging case. The charging case houses a USB Type C port on the bottom for a quicker charge, while it even supports Qi wireless charging as well.
The newly launched Redmi Buds 3 Pro comes in two color options — Black and Grey. The earphones will be available for purchase through Aliexpress. As noted earlier, during the initial sale dates, the TWS earphones will cost $40 instead of their regular price of $60.

The recent tweets by Micromax carry the #AbIndiaChaleNonStop hashtag, which indicates that its next smartphone will come equipped with a big battery.
Micromax re-entered the Indian smartphone market in November 2020 by announcing new IN series smartphones such as In Note 1 and In 1b. Earlier this year, the company unveiled the In 1 phone, which was slotted between the Note 1 and 1b.
A recent report by The Mobile Indianclaimed that the company will be unleashing the Micromax In 2B by the end of this month. The moniker of the device suggests that it could be arriving as the successor to last year’s IN 1b. The report also claims that the rumored In 2C will not be announced this month. Probably, it will be debuting in August.
The Micromax In 2b and In 2c were spotted at the Geekbench benchmarking site last month. Surprisingly, both models were found to be equipped with Unisoc T610 chip, 4 GB of RAM, and Android 11 OS. It remains to be seen what differing specs and features will be available on the In 2b and In 2c smartphones.
The In 1B was introduced with a starting price of Rs 6,999 (~$94). Probably, the In 2b may arrive with similar pricing. Since the company has already released the first teasers of its upcoming smartphone, it is expected to reveal more information on it daily before the launch event.
Samsung has finally confirmed that it will be holding its next Galaxy Unpacked launch event at 10 AM ET on Aug. 11. The teaser released by the brand hints at the arrival of new foldable devices. The event will be held online, and it will be live-streamed across its social channels. Apart from announcing the new foldables, the company is also expected to unleash the Galaxy Watch4, Galaxy Watch4 Classic, and Galaxy Buds2.
For the past few years, Samsung has been launching the Galaxy Note series phone in the month of August. However, it was confirmed by the brand earlier this year that it will not be announcing the Galaxy Note 21 this year.
The Galaxy Z Fold3 is expected to arrive as the first Fold series device from the brand with S Pen stylus support. This device is also said to be equipped with an in-display camera, a first from Samsung. On the other side, the Galaxy Z Flip3 5G clamshell is expected to sport a refresh dual-tone design, a redesigned vertical dual-camera setup, and a larger secondary screen.

The Galaxy Watch4 series is expected to feature a more powerful chip called Exynos W920 and they are likely to arrive with 16GB of built-in storage. However, the major attraction of Watch4 lineup is that it will come with One UI Watch, which is a modified version of Wear OS. The Galaxy Buds 2 is expected to arrive with support for Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and it will arrive in three colors. It is speculated that the shipments of the Watch4 series will begin on Aug. 11, while the Z Fold3 and Z Flip3 will begin on Aug. 27.
Recent reports have claimed that Xiaomi will be announcing the Mi Pad 5 series of tablets in August in China. Three new devices that are believed to be the upcoming tablets from the company have received approval from the 3C authority of China. This indicates that the company may at least three Mi Pad 5 tablets in the coming month.
As can be seen, the 3C authority has approved three Xiaomi tablets with model numbers M210581AC, 21051182C, and M201581C. As can be seen in the screenshot, the K81A and K81C models are likely to ship with a 67W charger. It appears that among the two models, only the K81C will carry support for 5G connectivity.
According to Digital Chat Station, the K81A and K81C tablets will be driven by the Snapdragon 870 chipset. Previous reports have claimed that the K81C model could be housing an 8,720mAh battery. Both models may house a 48-megapixel main camera along with an LCD panel that offers 2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Probably, the K81A and K81C could be the same tablet with the former being a Wi-Fi-only edition and the latter arriving as its 5G variant.
On the other side, the 82C model could be shipping with a 33W fast charger. The tipster claimed that it will be featuring the Snapdragon 860. A recent leak claimed that the Snapdragon 870 variants of the Mi Pad 5 may launch first, while the SD860 version may arrive later. The tipster claimed that this model also features an LCD panel that offers a 2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh. Finnish telecommunications giant Nokia has seen a rebound from its dull performance in the rapidly expanding and lucrative Chinese 5G infrastructure supply market last year. A report by China’s largest telecom provider, China Mobile, has indicated that Nokia got one of its three 5G radio infrastructure contracts this year. The rebound follows a poor 2020 for the Scandinavian company in China, in which it did not secure any contract. On the other hand, Swedish-owned Ericsson saw a dip in its fortunes in the Chinese 5G market, possibly as a result of the political tensions that came to the fore by Sweden blocking Chinese companies from participating in the 5G rollout in the Scandinavian country, on national security concerns.
According to the documents released by China Mobile, Chinese powerhouses Huawei and ZTE retain the lion share of the 5G radio contracts, with Nokia getting a 10% share from one of the contracts. At the same time, Ericsson nicked 9.6% from another contract. The total 5G contract sum is about $6 billion, showing Nokia’s 4% overall share worth $240 million, while Ericsson had roughly half of Nokia’s share, which is about $120 million. Ericsson’s performance shows a decline from its good showing in 2020. However, some big announcements are still expected from China Telecom and China Unicom, two of the other big players in the Chinese tech firmament.
China is the global leader in 5G network infrastructure deployment and provides a very lucrative market for tech companies with important 5G technologies. Nokia hopes to provides further details of its performance in China when it releases its earnings report by July 29. On the other hand, Ericsson does not expect a significant jump in its contracts in China when China Telecom and China Unicom announce the successful 5G bids. The company projects that it is unlikely that the two Chinese telecom providers will go beyond the bands shown in its China Mobile contracts.

Huawei will officially launch the P50 series on July 29 in China. One of its major highlights will be the cameras. Just yesterday, the company shared its first teaser video highlighting the cameras, and today, Huawei has yet again shared another teaser video showcasing the colors captured from the phone’s cameras.
According to the video, the Huawei P50 series’ cameras will capture true-to-life colors. The images will have colors of exactly what you see in the real-life.
For starters, a recent leak revealed a triple rear camera system on the Huawei P50. It will feature a Sony IMX707 primary lens, a Sony IMX600 sensor, and lastly a 3x telephoto lens. On the other hand, the P50 Pro will feature a quad-camera system with a Sony IMX800 primary lens, an OVA64A OmniVision sensor, a 5x periscope lens, and a ToF sensor.
Additionally, a teaser from Huawei revealed that the phone has LEICA-powered lenses and just below the branding there was a writing that stated, “VARIO-SUMMILUX-H1:1.8-3.4/18-125ASPH”. It means that the phone will come with a Vario-Summilux lens by Leica with an aperture between f/1.8 and f/3.4.
Apart from the cameras, the Huawei P50 series will also come with powerful internals. For China, the P50 and P50 Pro will come powered by the Kirin 9000 SoC with 4G connectivity. The global markets are slated to get Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 powered units, but again, it will be limited to 4G connectivity.
The series is expected to feature a large display with a 20:9 aspect ratio. Specifically, the Pro model is touted to boast a 2.5K (1224 x 2696 pixels) resolution display.
We are yet to learn the other hardware details of the series, but what we know are the color variants. A few days back, a Sparkling Pink color happened to pop up in the leaks, and it looked quite fancy. Other color variants could possibly be Black, White, and a Golden shade.
LG Electronics recently announced its exit from the smartphone market, having shed its smartphone arm as a result of some retooling of the operations of the South Korean tech company. It was also reported that some of its smartphones that were caught in the decision to exit the smartphone production were given out at a hugely discounted price to its Korean employees.
Reports monitored from South Korea now indicate that LG Electronics will begin the sales of Apple iPhones in its 400 LG Best shops across the country in a move that is already drawing some flak from some industry watchers. Indeed LG faced a lot of resistance even from the national distributors association. Still, the company is undeterred in its decision, which can be viewed as a shrewd move from the business angle. It is also known that LG is still in talks with the Distribution Association as regards its iPhone sales decision.
The story first broke a couple of weeks back but LG later jettisoned the idea due to several backlash in the domestic market, especially from the Distribution Association. However it looks like the company has now decided to go ahead with the sales of iPhones in its LG Best shops in Korea.
LG Electronics officially withdrew from the mobile business effective at the end of July, hence its decision to begin iPhone sales in its extensive LG Best shops network in South Korea. The move seems a delicate one, as a few other Apple products are included in the sales plan of LG. These are Apple watches and iPads, although the Macbook and other Apple PC offerings are excluded because LG is still producing these devices. There is no after-sales support in the sales decision by LG. So buyers of Apple devices from the LG Best shops will have to seek customer support elsewhere for their devices.
It is most probable that LG and Apple had reached some understanding for the sales of Apple iPhones in LG Best shops across South Korea. It is known that Apple had earlier approached LG on the possibility of using the LG Best network of shops for the sale of Apple iPhones when it became known that LG was exiting the smartphone market. Ultimately, both LG and Apple will benefit from this sales arrangement.
