Lenovo-owned Motorola has officially taken the wraps off the Moto G50 5G in Australia. The launch of the model in the Land Down Under comes after weeks of speculation which saw the model appear in leaks and benchmark database bearing the codename Saipan.
The new Moto G50 5G bears semblance with the model bearing the same iteration that was launched in March this year. However, instead of the Snapdragon 480 chipset on that model, this new G50 packs a MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset. The new model also bears some differences with its sibling in the aspect of the rear cameras and the location of the fingerprint sensor. Apart from these few differences, the two Moto G50 models share the same core specs and design.
In terms of the specs, the Moto G50 5G sports a 6.5-inch LCD display with an HD+ resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels. The display supports a 90Hz refresh rate and utilizes a waterdrop notch design which houses a 13-megapixels selfie camera.
As stated earlier, the Motorola Moto G50 5G is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset paired with 4GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The storage can be expanded via a micoSD card.
At the rear aspect, the device packs a triple camera setup that houses the cameras in a square-shaped module located at the top left corner of the rear camera. The rear camera consists of a 48-megapixels main camera supported by a 2-megapixel macro camera and a 2-megapixel depth of field sensor. Motorola didn’t include a rear fingerprint sensor even though the iconic logo is still located at the back. Instead, the device packs a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. 
The mobile phone runs on the latest Android 11 operating system with an overlay of Motorola’s My UX. Keeping the lights on is a generous 5,000mAh battery with 15W fast charging support. The G50 also comes with support for NFC and has a 3.5mm headphone jack.
As for the price, the Moto G50 5G carries a price tag of AUD 399 (~$289). The phone will be available in Australia in two color options; Meteorite Gray and Green colors. Motorola is yet to reveal the price and availability details in other markets.
