Chinese EV maker XPeng unveils the X2, its prototype autonomous flying car

Autonomous flying cars are not widespread, so it is bound to draw huge attention wherever it is mentioned. While we may still not be too close to having the concept of autonomous flying cars being operational, it seems tremendous progress is being made along this line.Xpeng X2 flying car

Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer XPeng Motors has continued to expand the scope of its operations since it began business in 2014. Its expansionist plans saw the Guangzhou-based company listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) in 2020. It has also delved into research and development of flying cars technologies, including autonomous flying cars via its Xpeng Huitian division. Xpeng X2 flying car

Xpeng Huitian has just unveiled the X2, a prototype flying car that could operate autonomously. The X2 is the culmination of progressive, innovative efforts by Xpeng Motors, using its subsidiary, to ultimately produce a safe driverless fifth-generation flying car that will be commercially viable. The unveiling of the Xpeng X2 autonomous flying car was at this year’s Shanghai Auto Show.Xpeng X2 flying car

The X2 is just another futuristic offerings from Xpeng within less than a decade of its formation. The X2 predecessor is the fourth-generation Voyager X1 flying car, which can take off and land vertically, which is impressive. The Voyager X1 has clocked more than 10,000 test flights in China, with test drives scheduled to begin by the end of the year.

The X2 can carry up to 560kg loads together with its weight of 360kg. It is an electric-powered vehicle with up to 35 minutes of flight time at maximum speeds of 130kph. The autonomous capability of the Xpeng X2 means that it can operate on-air with the help of some powerful sensors and land seamlessly. It has a 24-hour monitoring system as an early warning signal detector to spot any potential flight problems.

There are several other features in the futuristic prototype flying car. Still, several safety considerations must be satisfied before seeing authorizations and the production of these autonomous flying cars.

OnePlus Nord N10 5G has reportedly started receiving its first & only upgrade to Android 11

The Nord N10 is one of OnePlus‘ flagship mid-range offerings released last year. The device came with the Android 10 operating system out-of-the-box. At launch, Oneplus did indicate that the device will get a single OS upgrade, and that will be Android 11.

OnePlus Nord N10 5G Featured Image
OnePlus Nord N10 5G

The Nord N10 5G seems to have started receiving the Android 11 update. The OS updates are believed to be staggered in the US, although OnePlus has not put in any detailed official statement to this effect. A user of the Nord N10 5G on T-Mobile reported the update on his device days back. It is conceivable that T-Mobile subscribers in the US are in line to receive the software updates first. T-Mobile is the second-largest wireless service provider in the US and may have a substantial Nord N10 customer base.

The claims on T-Mobile may be speculation, as there is no way to verify the claim. A US-wide rollout plan for the Android 11 updates is not visible, and a release in batches could be most probable.

Although only one OS upgrade is listed for the OnePlus Nord N10 5G, a few security patches and bug fixes are online for the device. Users of the Nord N10 5G are thus guaranteed more software support for their devices.

Tesla launches Full Self-Driving subscription package that costs $199 per month

Tesla, one of the leading electric car manufacturers, has officially launched its Full Self-Driving (FSD) subscription which costs $199 per month. Those who previously bought the Enhanced Autopilot package will get it for $99 as the package is now discontinued.

Tesla Model S

The company is currently selling the Full Self-Driving package for a one-time payment of $10,000 but those who don’t want to pay such a large sum of money upfront can now opt for the monthly subscription plan.

The Full Self-Driving package currently includes several automated driver-assist features, including Navigate on Autopilot, Auto Lane Change, Autopark, Summon, Full Self-Driving Computer, and Traffic Light and Stop Sign Control.

Tesla notes that FSD is not the same as fully driverless technology, and adds that “the currently enabled features require active driver supervision and do not make the vehicle autonomous.” Ultimately, the company hopes to deliver a true full self-driving system but people buying the package can only hope and wait for Tesla to achieve that goal.

It’s noteworthy that the new subscription plan requires version 3.0 of the FSD hardware, and upgrading to that will cost $1,500. That hardware — containing a new, more powerful chip — has been standard in Tesla cars since mid-2019.

While the company has launched some new products to reckon with coming changes to its business, but it is unlikely to satisfy Wall Street. Also, with increasing competition from tech giants like Microsoft Teams, Zoom needs additional revenue sources and thus, the company acquired Five9.
