Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 has just gone through a detailed teardown courtesy of JerryRigEverything’s Zack Nelson, and it’s given us a closer look at what $2000 gets you inside one of the most premium foldables on the market. The video confirms Samsung’s use of a titanium back plate under the display while also sparking debate over the phone’s thermal design. To test Samsung’s claims, Nelson used a gas torch to heat up the back plate to around 1800°C.
It resulted in a rainbow-like oxidation pattern, while the flexible mesh structure lit up with bright white sparks—both clear indicators of the metal Samsung is claiming to be using. These touches add strength and flexibility to Samsung’s foldable design. Not to mention, this is the first time the creator has successfully removed the inner folding screen while still functioning.
The different layers of the display are still fragile, which is why hard and sharp objects should still be kept away from the inner display.
Notably, this isn’t the first time Samsung has reinforced its foldables with extra support above the aluminum chassis. From the Z Fold 3 through the Z Fold 6, the company used Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP). That material is lighter than titanium, but teardown videos show it was also a bit thicker, which may explain Samsung’s decision to switch.
Still, not everything in the Fold 7 impressed. Nelson highlighted a clear air gap between the aluminum mid-frame and the graphite cooling pad over the processor. Samsung did apply some thermal paste—enough for him to jokingly draw a smiley face—but the overall setup raises doubts about how well the phone can transfer heat from the chips. More surprising is that the aluminum chassis under the PCB doesn’t even include a vapor chamber, a feature that’s become standard on even mid-range phones costing a fraction of the price.
Overall, the teardown shows the Z Fold 7 as a mix of premium materials, improved repairability, and lingering concerns around cooling. With Samsung already teasing its first tri-fold, it’ll be interesting to see what that device hides inside.
Acer has used IFA 2025 to showcase its new lineup of Predator gaming hardware, headlined by the Predator Orion 7000 (PO7-667) and Predator Orion 5000 (PO5-667) desktop PCs. The Orion 7000 serves as the flagship desktop in Acer’s gaming lineup. It supports up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 Processor 285K with integrated NPU for AI acceleration. Graphics are powered by up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 GPU delivering 3352 AI TOPS. The system also provides access to NVIDIA NIM Microservices, enabling developers to build AI models and assistants on a high-performance platform.
With up to 128 GB DDR5 7200 MT/s XMP RGB RAM and up to 6 TB PCIe Gen 5 SSD storage, users can run demanding games and professional workloads with minimal latency. Additional HDD support offers up to 4 TB capacity. Networking includes Killer E3100G Ethernet and Wi-Fi 7, with Thunderbolt 4 for external device connectivity.
Thermal management is handled by a 360 mm CPU liquid cooler and Predator CycloneX 360 system, which improves cooling efficiency by 15% and lowers motherboard temperatures by 9°C. The desktop is housed in a 45L EMI-compliant tempered glass chassis with ARGB Pulsar lighting and is built using 65% post-consumer recycled plastic.
Predator Orion 5000
The Orion 5000 offers a more accessible configuration without compromising performance. It is powered by up to an Intel Core Ultra 7 Processor 265F and up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 GPU delivering 1801 AI TOPS. Like the Orion 7000, it supports up to 128 GB DDR5 RAM and offers flexible storage with up to 2 TB SSD and 4 TB HDD.
Cooling is provided by the Predator CycloneX 360 ARGB fan system and a 120 mm CPU fan. Connectivity includes Killer E3100G Ethernet, Wi-Fi 7, and multiple USB ports.
Availability
Both desktop PCs will be available in EMEA in Q1 2026, with the Orion 7000 starting at EUR 3,999 and the Orion 5000 at EUR 2,999. In Australia, pricing starts at AUD 8,199 and AUD 4,999 respectively.

At IFA 2025, Acer introduced the Predator Helios 18P AI, a high-performance laptop built for professionals, creators, and gamers who need desktop-level power in a portable form. Alongside the laptop, the company also launched its new Predator Orion 7000 and Orion 5000 desktop PCs.
The Predator Helios 18P AI (model PH18P-73) is designed for hybrid use, handling both productivity and entertainment. Dolby Laboratories has announced Dolby Vision 2, the latest version of its HDR technology aimed at improving picture quality on modern TVs. The update includes a new image engine, AI-driven content optimization, and new features designed for sports, gaming, and cinematic playback.
Hisense will be the first TV brand to launch models with Dolby Vision 2. Its premium RGB-MiniLED televisions powered by the MediaTek Pentonic 800 chip with MiraVision Pro PQ Engine will carry the technology. CANAL+, the French media and entertainment company, is the first broadcaster to confirm support, bringing Dolby Vision 2 to its movies, series, and live sports.
Dolby Vision has been the standard for HDR picture quality for over ten years. Dolby Vision 2 builds on this by taking advantage of today’s brighter and more colorful TVs while giving creators more control over brightness, contrast, and color accuracy.
The new Dolby Image Engine works with a wide range of content including films, TV shows, weekly live sports, and games. Dolby has also introduced Content Intelligence, which uses AI and ambient light detection to automatically adjust picture output for the viewing environment.
Content Intelligence includes:
Precision Black for clearer dark scenes without losing creative intent.
Light Sense to fine-tune brightness and color using ambient light data and reference information from the content source.
Sports and Gaming Optimization with motion control and white point adjustments for live sports and interactive content.
Dolby Vision 2 adds bi-directional tone mapping, giving creators more flexibility to use the full brightness and color range of high-performance TVs. It also introduces Authentic Motion, a creative-driven motion control tool that reduces judder on a shot-by-shot basis for a more cinematic presentation.

Acer has unveiled its latest high-performance gaming monitor, the Predator X27U F8, at IFA 2025. The new display features a 26.5-inch WQHD OLED panel and supports refresh rates of up to 720Hz.
The launch follows Asus’s recent announcement of the ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-W, which also supports up to 720Hz refresh rate, signaling a growing push toward ultra-high refresh OLED panels in the gaming monitor segment.
Acer Predator X27U F8 Specifications
The Predator X27U F8 uses Dynamic Frequency and Resolution (DFR) technology to switch between two performance modes. It runs at 540Hz while outputting at 2560 x 1440 and reaches up to 720Hz when scaled down to 1280 x 720. The monitor also delivers a 0.01ms pixel response time, ensuring minimal motion blur and virtually no ghosting during fast-paced gameplay.
Acer has confirmed that the screen covers 99% of the DCI-P3 color gamut and achieves Delta E<1 color accuracy. The monitor carries VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification and supports peak brightness levels of up to 1,500 nits. The OLED panel includes an Image Retention Refresh system to help reduce burn-in and extend display longevity.
In terms of connectivity, the monitor includes two HDMI 2.1 ports, a DisplayPort 1.4, and a USB Type-C port with 90W power delivery. The display also features a built-in KVM switch, allowing users to control multiple connected devices using a single keyboard and mouse.

The latest info arrives from known tipster Digital Chat Station, who shared the details on Weibo. In his post, he revealed nearly every key detail regarding the upcoming MatePad Mini. Some of these have already been teased, while others were leaked before. But one of the key details that was revealed was the processor. Earlier reports claimed that the Chinese tech giant will pack its compact flagship tablet with the Krini 9020 SoC, which is the same chip that powers its top smartphone model, the Pura 80 Ultra.
Huawei MatePad Mini
However, DCS claims that the performance might be disappointing as the MatePad Mini could feature the Kirin 9010 chip. To recall, this processor also powered the older Pura 70 Ultra model. It will reportedly be paired with 12GB of RAM and either 256GB or 512GB of internal storage.

During the ongoing IFA 2025 event, Acer had a spree of new product launches. The company just unveiled a pair of Iconia X series tablets with OLED displays built for media consumption and a bunch of laptops and PCs. Alongside these models, the brand also unveiled two tablets with tall displays that rival laptop screens. So here are all the details of the Iconia A14 and Iconia A16.
Acer Iconia A14
As the name suggests, the Iconia A14 sports a tall 14-inch IPS LCD panel with a FHD resolution, a 16:10 aspect ratio, and the ZeroFrame design. Acer offers this large display for daily use in mind. From watching media to browsing the web or scrolling through social media, the tablet was designed with a focus on a large screen real estate. This is more apparent considering how you get an integrated kickstand and screen casting feature, allowing it to double as a secondary screen.
Acer Iconia A14
Under the hood, the Iconia A14 is equipped with the Allwinner A733 processor. The chip is paired with 7GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. You get an 8MP camera on the rear and a 5MP shooter on the front for selfies and video calls. A sizeable 8,000mAh battery pack powers this model, which Acer claims can last for up to 10 hours. Other notable features include Android 15 OS out of the box, Bluetooth 5.4, WiFi 6, dual USB Type-C ports, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and quad speakers. It is available in a single Vapor Silver color option and will go on sale in early 2026 for 249 Euros.

Alongside the Iconia A14, the brand showcased the larger Iconia A16 at IFA. This is another budget model that will go on sale in Q2 2026 for 299 Euros. It sports a massive 16-inch FHD IPS LCD panel, which is taller than the standard 15.6-inch laptop. Allwinner A733 powers this model as well, with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

The same 8,000mAh battery and 10 hour battery life claim returns on this model. Other similarities include the 8MP camera on the rear, a 5MP selfie shooter, Android 15 OS out of the box, Bluetooth 5.4, WiFi 6, dual USB Type-C ports, a 3.5mm headphone jack, quad speakers, and design elements also remain unchanged in the taller variant. The Vapor Silver is the only color option, and the Iconia A16 measures a hefty 980 grams, nearly as heavy as a thin-and-light notebook.
Both tablets arrive with AI powered tools like AI Super Resolution for video upscaling and AI Smart Sensing for better gesture controls. The brand has now revealed the pricing details with the Iconia A14 starting from 300 US Dollars or 260 Euros, while the Iconia A16 is going on sale for 340 US Dollars or 300 Euros. The duo will be available for purchase in January 2026.

Xiaomi has launched the Mijia Brushless Drill 2, a new electric drill designed for home users. The product will be available through a crowdfunding campaign starting September 10 for 279 yuan ($39).
Mijia Brushless Drill 2 Specifications
The Mijia Brushless Drill 2 features a high-performance brushless motor that delivers a maximum torque of 50N·m and a top speed of 1700 RPM. Compared to the previous generation, this model offers a 66% increase in torque and a 21% improvement in speed. Xiaomi has equipped the drill with a 1900mAh battery, which supports drilling up to 200 holes or driving around 600 screws on a single charge.
Xiaomi has used a self-locking chuck to ensure a secure grip on drill bits during operation. The drill also includes a high-carbon steel planetary gearbox built to withstand high-load and high-frequency use.
The tool supports 32 torque settings, allowing users to switch between low-speed screwdriving and high-speed drilling tasks. The drill features a dedicated control knob that lets users easily switch between Manual, Auto, High-speed, and Low-speed operating modes.
The drill also integrates an intelligent chip that automatically adjusts torque output in Auto Mode. This feature helps prevent damage to screws and materials and makes the tool accessible for beginners. It supports dry and wet drilling through a range of materials such as wood, plastic, aluminum pipes, cement boards, tiles (with water), and soft concrete.
Xiaomi packs the drill with a wide accessory kit that includes alloy “Overlord” bits for general drilling, ceramic bits for tiles, and 16 screwdriver heads covering Phillips, flat, Torx, Pozidriv, square, triangle, and hex types. The kit also comes with a magnetic extension rod, all organized in a compact EVA storage case.
The drill also features a USB-C charging port, an integrated LED work light for improved visibility in dark areas, a rubberized grip for better handling, a forward and reverse toggle switch, and a safety lock to prevent accidental activation.

JBL has launched the Boombox 4 in the global market, following its earlier release in China. The new model improves on the previous Boombox 3 with upgraded sound hardware, smarter tuning, and longer battery life, while also weighing less despite its larger build.
JBL Boombox 4 Specifications
JBL has equipped it with two 5-inch woofers, two 0.75-inch tweeters, and three passive radiators to deliver louder sound with deeper bass and sharper highs. It produces 2 × 65W RMS woofer and 2 × 40W RMS tweeter output in AC mode, or 2 × 60W RMS woofer and 2 × 40W RMS tweeter output on battery.
The frequency response ranges from 37Hz to 20kHz with a signal-to-noise ratio above 80dB. The company has also added AI Sound Boost, which analyzes audio in real time and adjusts output to maintain power while reducing distortion, even at maximum volume.
The speaker runs on Bluetooth 5.4 and supports lossless audio playback through its USB-C port. It also includes support for Auracast, allowing users to wirelessly connect multiple JBL speakers in a synchronized setup. The PartyBoost feature remains available for stereo pairing.
The speaker runs up to 28 hours on a single charge and extends to 34 hours with Playtime Boost. Fast charging provides two hours of playback in just 10 minutes. JBL also allows users to replace the battery. The built-in power pack doubles as a power bank for charging devices through USB-C.
JBL has rated the Boombox 4 IP68 for water and dust resistance. The unit weighs 5.89 kg and measures 51 x 26 x 21 cm. The design is slightly larger than before but lighter, making it more portable. It is available in White, Black, Blue, and Squad color variants.
JBL is also making a sustainability push with the Boombox 4. The grille uses recycled fabric and plastic, and the packaging is made from FSC-certified paper printed with soy ink. It’s a small step but one that aligns with parent company Harman’s broader eco-friendly commitments.
The Boombox 4 is priced at $549.95 and is now up for pre-order. It will begin shipping worldwide on September 28.

In 2024, we reviewed the Hohem iSteady V3 smartphone gimbal, which was an impressive product. If you want to get more details of the V3, and some of the features I won’t mention about the V3 Ultra, here is the link. Now in this review, we have the V3 Ultra, a solid upgrade from the V3. The main new thing about it is the remote controller, there is a touch screen on it now, and the controls are very smooth. So let’s take a look at it in this review.
Unboxing
The box is pretty much the same as before, and the content inside is also the same.
Design
The design is also not changed, still shaped like its previous gen, and the build quality is always top notch. Before we get to the differences, a minor detail I have noticed is the retractable legs. I think they are thicker and firmer, and they claim to be able to support 400g of devices, 100g more than the V3. I think the reason why it has been done this way is that, the camera modules of the Ultra phones are heavier, so the gimbal’s ability to handle the uneven weight balance should be upgraded. Later in the review, we will also try different phones, see what the phones it can support.
Upgrades
Touch Screen VS Buttons
The most noticeable upgrade should be the touch screen, compared to some buttons on the V3. The size and shape of the controller have not changed, and the way it attaches to the gimbal is also magnetic. The up and down buttons are gone, but the joystick and record/mode switch button are kept.
The screen on it is 1.22 inches in size, and it is a colorful one. The main benefits of having a screen are five:
– The UI is very simple, but more like a smart watch, you can pretty much navigate through all the key settings you want on the screen.
– You can control every move through touches. It is much more intuitive than buttons, as we are all used to screens now. You may also want to confirm if there is any lag when using it, I have tried many controls, and it is as precise as button controls.
– The settings can be done on the screen right away. On the V3, if you want to change settings, you might need to go to the App. But on the V3 Ultra, you can simply change the settings on the screen, it not only saves you some time, but also lets you be more confident in things you want to shoot.
– Some controls are more convenient on the small screen. Such as the speed setting, and orientation change.
– The remote controller works within 10m. The most useful occasion is Vlogging, you might be away from the gimbal, but some important moments need to be kept.
AI Tracking
So the AI tracker is still here, with the camera and fill light built in. The fill light still has three color tones, and the max brightness is 110lux at 0.5m. The AI tracker clamps on the gimbal through magnets, but to make sure it stays on firmly, there are still locks besides the magnets. There is a switch on the unit, to turn the AI tracking on or off, this could save some battery on the whole gimbal.
So how is the AI tracking? Is there any upgrade? First of all, Hohem stated the chip used inside, which is the MTK-L06. I didn’t know about this chip, until I saw that it can also be called MediaTek Dimensity 6300. This chip is used in some entry-level smartphones, but it definitely overkill on a gimbal.
In real-life use, I did feel that the overall abilities are better. The tracking is faster I think, I increased my moving speed, and it can still track my face very easily. For some other scenarios, like sports, moving cars, and animals, it can focus on them and track them very well.

The AI tracking’s upgrades rely on two things I think. First, the better camera. It now has a 2MP camera on board, which can help to capture more details of movements. Then the information can be used to train the algorithm, and Hohem claims there were millions of scenarios being used to train it, which can eventually benefit the tracking a lot.
And the AI tracking works within 10m as it claims, and the result I got was 12m, pretty impressive.
360 Degree Pan
Now the gimbal supports 360-degree pan, which can cover any corner around you. If you held the device, you can lock onto people, then follow them anywhere, it won’t lose any angle.
Gesture Controls
As usual, there are many gesture controls offered by Hohem. Such as the classic Ok sign to start tracking and recording, a palm sign to stop it. Then there is also a framing gesture, which tells the camera where you want yourself in the frame, and then it will do the job.
The max distance of the gesture control was 3 meters as we tested the V3, and it is 5m on the V3 as we tested, again beyond the official claim.
Stabilization

Acer has just introduced two new additions to its tablet lineup during the IFA 2025 event. The Iconia X12 and Iconia X14 tablets are new models for everyday use, bringing vibrant OLED displays, quad speakers, and much more for at a budget.

The Acer Iconia X12 is the smaller model, sporting a 12.6-inch AMOLED display that has a 60Hz refresh rate, a 16:10 aspect ratio, 400 nits of peak brightness, and a 2.5K resolution (2560 x 1600p). Under the hood, it is equipped with the MediaTek Helio G99 SoC, which is paired with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. So, the brand isn’t bringing any upgrade over the Iconia X12 tablet that debuted back in 2024.

A sizeable 8,000mAh battery pack powers this device, which Acer claims can offer up to 16 hours of battery life. This model is equipped with the Allwiner A733 chip, which features an NPU that brings AI powered features to the tablet, like AI smart Sensing, AI Super Resolution, and more.

The chip is coupled with 8GB of RAM and up to 256Gb of internal storage. Users can also expand the storage via a microSD card slot on this model as well. You get an 8MP camera on the rear and a 5MP selfie shooter on the front. Zebronics has launched the Juke Bar 9920 in India. It is the first soundbar in the country to deliver 900W RMS output and comes with a 12-inch wireless subwoofer for deeper bass in home setups.
The Juke Bar 9920 supports 7.1.2 surround sound with Dolby Atmos and ZEB AcoustiMax Multi-Dimensional Audio. It uses nine drivers to produce clear highs, balanced mids, and strong bass. A new investor note from renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has shed light on Apple’s foldable device strategy. The report indicates when Apple could release its foldable iPhone and iPad, along with details about its supply chain partners and backend processing advancements.

According to the note, Apple is preparing to launch its first foldable iPhone in 2026. The device will use ultra-thin glass (UTG), with Taiwan-based General Interface Solution (GIS) handling backend processes such as cutting, inspection and packaging. GIS will work closely with Corning, which will supply the raw UTG materials.
The complexity of UTG preparation is significantly higher than conventional smartphone glass, with costs estimated at two to four times more. Apple has reportedly revised its shipment expectations upwards, now targeting between 8 to 10 million units in 2026 and 20 to 25 million in 2027. These higher projections highlight Apple’s confidence in the foldable iPhone’s demand.
Foldable iPad on track for 2028
The foldable iPhone will be followed by a foldable iPad, scheduled for 2028. Like the iPhone, its display will rely on UTG backend processing exclusively managed by GIS. However, due to its larger size, the foldable iPad’s UTG panels will carry a considerably higher unit cost. Shipments for the device are forecasted at 0.5 to 1 million units in the first year.
Vision Air to join Apple’s hardware roadmap
Alongside foldables, Apple is also working on Vision Air, a lighter and more affordable version of the Vision Pro expected in 2027. GIS will play a crucial role here as well, becoming the sole supplier of Pancake lenses in addition to lamination. Shipments of Vision Air are projected to reach around one million units in the launch year, giving Apple’s supply chain partners another long-term growth driver.

Nothing has started rolling out a new update for the Phone (2). The firmware version is Nothing OS V3.2-250828-1921. The rollout is staggered, so not all users will get it at the same time. This lets the company monitor the update and keep deployment stable.
The update adds new features to the Camera app. A Preset option is now available in settings. A new “Stretch” preset has also been added, created with photographer Jordan Hemingway. It brings stronger shadows and extended highlights for a different look. The default gallery option for photo previews in the Camera app has been updated as well.
Widgets get new functions too. The pedometer and screentime widgets now support sharing. Shared widgets can also use more sticker types.
There are several fixes and improvements across the system. Quick Settings tiles display errors have been fixed. An issue that stopped PDFs from opening in cloned apps has been resolved. The display of the VoNR icon in the status bar has been improved. The problem of blocking connected devices in hotspot and tethering has been fixed. Battery usage when connecting watches has been optimized. Font display issues with Inter in Instagram, Subito and other apps have been corrected.
