In other words, the Chinese EV maker is expanding its presence in the European region, and has collaborated with Emil Frey Nederland NV for the market in the Netherlands. Emil Frey has been brought in to develop XPENG’s sales and service network and will also manage its branded stores throughout the country. Through this partnership, XPENG is seeking to widen its footprint in the region and also marks the first agency retail collaboration for the Chinese company in Europe.

Emil Frey is one of Europe’s largest automobile retail organizations. So, XPENG’s retail stores will benefit from this partnership with customers getting consistent pricing, online and offline, along with access to Emil Frey’s established services and distribution network as well. The XPENG retail experience store will be located in the Westfield Mall of the Netherlands near The Hague and will open sometime in March 2022. On the other hand, the brand has entered into an agreement with Bilia for the Swedish market.

Bilia is the largest automobile dealer and distributor in Sweden. This means that XPENG customers will also benefit from Bilia’s well established network, which consists of 58 dealers and 66 service centers in Sweden. He Xiaopeng, Chairman and CEO of XPENG stated that “Our global journey starts from Europe, propelled by our commitment to increase smart EV penetration. We strongly support the EV development strategy in Europe and are forging partnerships with top tier local players to accelerate energy conservation, emission reduction and electrification in Europe.”

The news arrives as the company sets its expansion plans in fields like 5G, artificial intelligence, IoT (internet of things), and more.

According to a ChinaDaily report, a senior executive of the American chipmaking giant shared the news in a comment. This statement came as the company is teaming up with local partners in China to showcase a number of new advanced solutions and products at the China Intentional Import Expo that is currently being held in Shanghai. The comment was made by Frank Meng, chairman of Qualcomm China.

The senior official further added that China’s efforts will also help in creating more open and inclusive business environment. Additionally, the executive believes that its willingness to share development opportunities with the world will also help raise international cooperation for innovation. Meng said that such efforts are also what encouraged Qualcomm to set up investment in China and expand its cooperation with Chinese partners.

The Chairman stated that the deepening cooperation with Chinese partners will also help in the development and growth in fields like smart terminals, industrial internet, smart transportation, smart cities, and other industries. In other words, the growing partnership is also a promotion of digital economy and its development.

As a part of the plan, Samsung will be hiring about 40,000 people over the next three years as the company advances towards next-generation technologies. Its subsidiaries will be spending money on Research & Development as well as corporate acquisitions.

The company has revealed that it is setting aside 180 trillion won for its home country South Korea and aims to hire another 10,000 people over the period. It’s noteworthy that this new expansion plan includes expenditures previously outlines by Samsung.

The South Korean giant has planned to invest around $151 billion through 2030 to delve deeper into advanced chipmaking. The company is also expected to proceed aggressively as Lee Jae-yong has now been released from the prison on parole after being sentenced to jail earlier this year for bribery.

Samsung is now expected to have further development related to its semiconductor plant in the United States for which the company is spending about $17 billion. It is among the leading chipset maker in the world, competing against Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) after the withdrawal of Huawei from the market. It plans to go ahead with the long-term vision in terms of technology rather than the short-term goals.

Along with that, the South Korean giant is also looking to expand its biopharmaceutical business through its subsidiaries Samsung Biologics and Samsung Bioepisit. The group will build two new factories in addition to the three currently in operation with the aim of starting vaccine production.

According to TheElec report, VinSmart is apparently looking into launching smartphones in markets like North America, India, or other markets where Chinese smartphone brands have a lower market share or are facing obstacles due to the ‘geopolitical tension’. For those unaware, VinSmart is a relatively new brand, with its operations only beginning in 2018. At the start, it used Chinese manufacturers for its smartphones design, and only assembled a few of its products by itself.

Editor’s Pick: Redmi 9 Power launched in India with 6,000mAh battery, Snapdragon 662, and 48MP quad-camera

Now, it has begun marking its own smartphones and has even expanded its development team, which includes past employees of industry giant’s like Samsung and LG. In the third quarter of this year, the company launched the Live 4 (code named V640 during development). It was priced around 177 US Dollars and targeted the entry level market. Since then, it has launched other models, which also target the budget level market. The company aimed on shipping a million units of all three models combined, but this target is unlikely considering it faced delays in production and launch due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

At the moment, its factory is located in Hanoi, Vietnam, and is capable of producing up to 26 million smartphones every year at full capacity. Although, once the site is completed, its production capacity will be able to reach up to 125 million units per year. Notably, the company’s plans on expanding outside of Vietnam will have its South Korean suppliers like Cammsys and Ryuk-Il C&S benefit. The former supplies its camera modules and fingerprint scanner, while the latter supplies the rear cover of its devices.

Now, Xiaomi is seeking to further strengthen its presence in the overseas market to grow its smartphone business in regions apart from its home country, China.

According to newly published market data, Xiaomi managed saw an increase in smartphone shipments in the first quarter of 2020. This led it to become the world’s fourth largest handset vendor, behind Samsung, Huawei and Apple. This growth arrived despite the company seeing lowered Chinese shipments in its home market. In other words, while the likes of Huawei, Oppo and Vivo had maintained a ratio of around 50 percent shipments for home and overseas market, Xiaomi only had 25 percent.

Editor’s Pick: Meizu 17 Pro 120Hz refresh rate update is live with DC dimming, HDR playback, and more

This means, Xiaomi has put its sights on expansion in overseas market, with the Chinese tech giant only shipping 7 million smartphone units in China during Q1 2020. However, this also caused the company to lose its standing in its domestic market, lagging behind Oppo. Although, Xiaomi performed quite well in the European market, with Spain in particular, and in India, where it is the top selling smartphone brand.

Furthermore, shipments for all smartphone brands are expected to be affected in Q2 of 2020, but Xiaomi is expected to bump its smartphone shipments. This will arrive as the Indian and European market regain their momentum, after the various government imposed lockdowns are relaxed. Considering its presence in these particular markets, Xiaomi will have a much easier task in handling the pandemic in the next quarter.

China-based smartphone maker Xiaomi, which is already investing to boost its retail operations in the company’s home market, is now planning to invest additional $725 million towards retail growth in China in order to counter the growth of Huawei.

As per the reports, the additional $725 million will be spent by the company on reward programs for sales employees and retail partners as well as expanding Xiaomi’s distribution channels.

In China, Xiaomi currently ranks fourth in terms of smartphone sales, trailing behind Huawei, Samsung, and Apple. As per the data, Xiaomi holds around 12 percent of the Chinese smartphone market, compared to 34 percent captured by Huawei.

The sales of Xiaomi declined by a small percentage in Q1 2019, from 27.8 million smartphones sold in Q1 2018 to 27.5 million sold in Q1 2019, securing 8 percent of the Chinese market. On the other hand, Huawei rose 41 percent and held 19 percent of the Chinese smartphone market in the same quarter.

Going forward, Huawei is looking to increase its hold on the Chinese smartphone market from 34 percent to 50 percent to make up the profit difference after the company got banned from doing business with US-based companies and technologies.

Editor’s Pick: MIUI camera app confirms 64MP Xiaomi/Redmi camera phone in development

Xiaomi was so focused on its online sales strategy in the Chinese market that the company refrained from growing its offline sales channel. Meanwhile, it’s competitors captured the offline market, which in turn affected Xiaomi’s overall growth in its home market.

However, learning from its mistakes, Xiaomi started investing heavily in the Indian market to boost its offline presence. Now, Xiaomi is the dominating player in India’s smartphone market, followed by Samsung.

The additional investment for Xiaomi in order to boost its Chinese business comes at a time when Huawei is going through a rough patch. The Trump administration has banned Huawei and some 60 subsidiaries from selling and doing business with US entities and companies. Earlier this week, Huawei said that it could lose around $30 billion over the next two years because of the Trump Ban.

The 250-square-meter place offers smartphones, wearable devices, smart home supplies and other Xiaomi products. According to Xinhua, the store managed to get 1,500 customers in its first day! Very impressive all things considered.

The Chilean store was mainly another part of Xiaomi’s ongoing global expansion plan. The company began operations in Chile on December 2018, and they’ve been going strong since then. It’s not inaccurate to say that they’ve been doing well in the country, and this store is proof of that.

Editor’s Pick: Xiaomi patents phone with an in-display selfie camera

“Our users don’t just buy products; they become part of a global community. Common interests unite us, and we care about taking care of that relationship, as if it were with close friends,” said Felipe Villalobos, a social media manager with Xiaomi Chile.

One month later, Xiaomi now has 130 products available in Chile, including cellphones, security cameras, computers, robot vacuums, bicycles, electric scooters, and accessories. The company’s expansion over in Chile has been nothing if not impressive. The Latin American market is crucial and attractive for the brand – especially Chile, “a country that tends to adopt new technologies very rapidly”, a brand communication said.

As of now, Xiaomi plans to open six more physical stores in the country with their all their latest devices. On top of this, the company also wants to introduce the Mi Home ecosystem to Chile soon, which will be quite exciting to see. Xiaomi is taking an aggressive approach to expansion, and it’ll be interesting to see how it pans out for them.

For this, the company will be further investing around £3 billion (~$4.2 billion) on UK prospects.

With this, the total investment amount promised by the company adds up to £9.3 billion (~$13 billion) in the region. According to the reports, the pledge was made by Huawei chairwoman Sun Yafang last week while British Prime Minister Theresa May was on a trade mission in China.

Reports suggest that the deals would cover patent licensing fees that Huawei pays out to UK chip manufacturer ARM, as well as the “global risk management and forex trading operations” which Huawei runs out of London.

According to the report from Reuters, Huawei’s promised investments are separate from its business deals related to telecoms infrastructure, where it has acted as a supplier to telecoms companies BT and Vodafone.

This new investment pledge is on top of Huawei’s 2012 pledge to invest and procure £1.3 billion in the UK from 2013-17. The target has been significantly exceeded, according to the company, which said it invested and procured £2 billion during that period.

Huawei plans to continue making a significant contribution to the UK by exploring vital future technologies, including 5G, alongside its customers. The company employs more than 1,500 people in the UK with 15 offices, including its head office in Green Park, Reading.

This comes at a time when the UK is pushing for its own deals as it will soon be left without the economic protections of the European Union which it voted to leave in mid-2016.

Earlier, Huawei planned to expand its presence to the US market through a partnership with network carrier AT&T. However, the deal was abruptly canceled, reportedly due to the US government concerns over Huawei’s links to the Chinese government.
