Now <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/LG">LG</a> is set to announce the LG W20 and its specs have been made public.</p>
<p>The LG W20&#8217;s specs were found on the Google Play Console. The phone has a 720 x 1520 (HD+) resolution and a waterdrop notch according to the attached image. It has 3GB of RAM and is powered by UNISOC&#8217;s Spreadtrum SC9863A. This is the same chipset that powers the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/alcatel-1s-2020/">Alcatel 1s (2019)</a> and the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/zte-blade-a7/">2019 Blade A7</a>. It is a 28nm octa-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz and paired with a PowerVR GE8322 GPU.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-301377" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/LG-W20.jpeg?x44794" alt="LG W20" width="947" height="427" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/LG-W20.jpeg 947w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/LG-W20-300x135.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/LG-W20-768x346.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/LG-W20-696x314.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/LG-W20-931x420.jpeg 931w" sizes="(max-width: 947px) 100vw, 947px" /></p>
<p>While a lot of upcoming mid-range phones will be running <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/android-10">Android 10</a>, including <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/01/14/lge-lm-k430im-appears-on-geekbench-may-launch-as-lg-k43/">LG&#8217;w own K43</a>, the LG W20 is running Android 9 Pie. Based on this, we think the device was supposed to launch last year but was delayed hence why it isn&#8217;t running Android 10. We hope LG updates it and its siblings to Android 10 in the future.</p>
<p>The LG W20 should be positioned between the LG W10 and LG W30. It should be better in terms of performance as it has eight Cortex-A55 cores unlike the Helio P22 inside the LG W10 and LG W30 which has eight Cortex-A53 cores. However, efficiency will be poor as it is a 28nm chipset.</p>
<p>The phone should have multiple rear cameras, a fingerprint scanner, and a 4,000mAh battery like its siblings. It is expected to be priced at about INR 9,000 (~$127).</p>

That means both flagship models are more than two years old. Thus, LG seems to have finally removed them from the list of models that will get any security update. XDA Forum Moderator Redline recently discovered that the LG V20, as well as the G5, are no longer listed on LG’s Security Bulletin webpage. The <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20181213130515/https://lgsecurity.lge.com/security_updates.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">archive of the page on the WayBack Machine</a> as at December 13 still had the models listed. However, the <a href="https://lgsecurity.lge.com/security_updates.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">latest security bulletin</a> saw both models missing.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/LG-V20-official-3.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-97064" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/LG-V20-official-3.png?x44794" alt="LG V20" width="793" height="595" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/LG-V20-official-3.png 793w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/LG-V20-official-3-300x225.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/LG-V20-official-3-768x576.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/LG-V20-official-3-160x120.png 160w" sizes="(max-width: 793px) 100vw, 793px" /></a></p>
<p>This is an indication that the devices will no longer receive updates, security patches or otherwise. For fans of the models still having hope that the phones will get Android Pie, that hope should be killed. The models were launched with android Naugat but were updated to Oreo. With this latest development, the devices will not get past Android Oreo.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/lg-g5.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-116031" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/lg-g5.jpg?x44794" alt="lg g5" width="670" height="447" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/lg-g5.jpg 670w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/lg-g5-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 670px) 100vw, 670px" /></a></p>

<p>LG is one of the major Android OEMs that agreed with Google&#8217;s Android Enterprise Recommended program. That means LG must offer at least four security updates within one year of the phone&#8217;s launch. The program also recommends Android OEMs to provide flagships smartphones with security updates for at least two years. However, LG will still offer security and OS updates for the G6 and G7 series, V30, V35, V40, CV series, LV series, LG Stylo (SF3), and Q series.</p>

Thanks to developers, you don&#8217;t have to own a Pixel phone to be able to experience how good Google&#8217;s camera app is as the APK can be ported and modified to work on other devices. Some devices already have the ported version of the Pixel 3&#8217;s camera but a new one has been released that works on a number of <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/LG">LG</a> phones.</p>
<p>The ported version brings the camera performance of the Pixel 3 including the popular Night Sight feature to a bunch of LG phones including the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/lg-v20/">LG V20</a> thanks to <em>XDA Senior member,</em> <em>cstark27</em>. The APK works on the LG V20, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/lg-v30/">LG V30</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/lg-v35-thinq/">LG V35</a>, and the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/lg-g6/">LG G6</a>. if you own the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/lg-g7-plus-thinq/">LG G7 ThinQ</a> and the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/lg-v40-thinq/">LG V40 ThinQ</a>, you can also try it but it is said to be unstable. However, there is a chance a newer version that works well with the two phones will be released in the near future.</p>

Fresh speculations suggest that the upcoming LG V30 may not feature the secondary ticker screen.</p>
<p>Although the secondary screen is a very unique feature which sits above the main screen on LG V10 and LG V20 phones, it seems that it failed to impress the consumers. According to XDA Developers that claims to have received information from a “trusted source,” the South Korean company may axe the secondary screen won’t be available on the LG V30.</p>
<p>In November 2016, well-known tipster had claimed that the LG V30 won’t be featuring a secondary ticker screen, but he had claimed that the LG V30 may still feature a secondary screen. XDA’s report does not clearly mention whether LG would be ditching the ticker or the secondary screen feature entirely from its upcoming flagship.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-137609 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/LG-V30-leaked-image.jpg?x44794" alt="LG V30 leaked image" width="600" height="400" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/LG-V30-leaked-image.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/LG-V30-leaked-image-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></p>
<p>Most of the LG flagships that have released in the past have come with LCD panels. However, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/05/17/lg-will-return-to-oled-displays-this-year-starting-with-the-lg-v30/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">LG is expected to switch to OLED panel for LG V30 in this year</a>. The probable reason behind removing the secondary screen from LG V30 is that its display may carry support for 18:9 aspect ratio that was introduced on LG G6’s Full Vision Display. Hence, the LG V30 may appear like a larger edition of the LG G6.</p>
<p>There is a possibility that the tall screen that will be arriving on the LG V30 may have a section at the top to display the contents of the ticker screen. OLED panel provides the ability to control each of its pixel which means the upper section of the screen may remain in always-on state while the other part of the screen can remain in sleep state to consume less battery.</p>
<p>The publication has further claimed that the Snapdragon 835 chipset will be powering the LG V30 along with 4 GB of RAM. It will be coming with a native storage of 64 GB. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/06/21/lg-v30-releasing-august-snapdragon-835-6-gb-ram-front-rear-dual-cameras/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Previous reports have stated that it would be also available 6 GB RAM option</a>. The upcoming flagship phablet from LG will also feature a microSD card slot.</p>
<p>As far as the launch date of LG V30 is concerned, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/06/22/lg-v30-may-arrive-august-31-699-best-ever-lg-flagship-arriving-rival-galaxy-note-8-iphone-8/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">it is speculated to get announced at the end of August</a>. Also, it may get showcased at the IFA 2017 event that will be held between Sept. 1 to 6 in Berlin, Germany.</p>

Today, a well-known tipster has revealed on Weibo that the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/lg/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">LG </a>V30 will be launching ahead of Samsung Galaxy Note 8.</p>
<p>Since the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/06/20/samsung-galaxy-note-8-coming-rear-facing-fingerprint-scanner-claims-report/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Note 8 is speculated to launch in August</a> end, the LG V30 is likely to break cover earlier in the same month. The LG V10 was introduced in October 2015 whereas its successor had arrived in September 2016. The LG V20 is the first non-Google device to come with Android Nougat preinstalled. There is no confirmation on whether the LG V30 would be launching with Android O in August.</p>
<p>A report that is almost a month old had revealed that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/05/17/lg-will-return-to-oled-displays-this-year-starting-with-the-lg-v30/">LG V30 would be equipped with an OLED panel.</a> According to the leakster, the OLED panel for the LG V30 will be supplied by LG Display. Previous speculations have suggested that the LG V30 may have a curved OLED panel. <img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-137337 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/LG-V30-Key-Specs-Leaked.png?x44794" alt="" width="733" height="370" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/LG-V30-Key-Specs-Leaked.png 733w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/LG-V30-Key-Specs-Leaked-300x151.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 733px) 100vw, 733px" /></p>
<p>The Snapdragon 821 driven LG G6 is fitted with a LCD panel. The LG G6 features a 5.7-inch Full Vision LCD screen that offers an aspect ratio of 18:5 and produces a display resolution of 1,440 x 2,880 pixels. The LG V30 is now speculated to come with a Full Vision OLED screen. Previous have also suggested that the secondary ticker screen will be placed at the top bezel area of the screen.</p>
<p>The leakster further claims that the LG V30 will be driven by Snapdragon 835 chipset and 6 GB of RAM. How will it compete with the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 that will be coming with dual rear cameras? The tipster has revealed that the LG V30 will be equipped with dual cameras at the front and rear.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-133223 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/LG-V30-Render-4.jpg?x44794" alt="LG V30 Render 4" width="768" height="432" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/LG-V30-Render-4.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/LG-V30-Render-4-300x169.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px" /></p>

<p>The Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ were introduced with full-screen design at March end this year. In order to grab the attention of the market, LG debuted the LG G6 phone earlier this year during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017.</p>
<p>Going ahead in this year, the Galaxy Note 8 is slated to launch in August end and the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/06/13/iphone-8-front-rear-panels-appear-live-photos-reveals-like-edge-edge-display-dual-cam/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">next-generation iPhones</a> totting full-screen design are expected to launch in September. Hence, instead of releasing LG V series phone in October as it did before, LG may want to launch the LG V30 earlier this year in August so that it can attract the market by arriving before the popular flagship phones.</p>

Hence, the rumor mill has been speculating that the LG V30 would be introduced in October this year. Fresh information coming through South Korean media suggests that LG may debut the V30 early this year. It is now speculated to launch as early as in August.</p>
<p>A report published on Aju Business Daily that has been cited by The Investor claims that the LG V30 is arriving in August this year. Moreover, it even states that the LG G7 would be launching in January 2018. First of all, we would like to convey our readers to take this report with a pinch of salt as there is no concrete evidence to support these claims.</p>
<p>If the new rumor about the LG V30 is true, the South Korean company may unleash it during the major press conferences that will be held on the last two days of August. It may then debut the V30 at the IFA event that officially begins on Sept. 1 in Berlin, Germany and release it on a later date.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-133437 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/LG-V30-Prototype-2.jpg?x44794" alt="LG V30" width="1200" height="697" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/LG-V30-Prototype-2.jpg 1200w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/LG-V30-Prototype-2-300x174.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/LG-V30-Prototype-2-768x446.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/LG-V30-Prototype-2-1024x595.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></p>

<p>LG has never used the IFA platform to announce the LG V series smartphones probably because these phones have not been launched in European markets. However, this year, LG may use a different strategy to unveil the LG V30. However, on the contrary, Samsung may launch the Galaxy Note 8 at August end and in September, the new iPhones will arrive. These high popular smartphones can completely disrupt the sales of LG G7 if it is launched in August.</p>
<p>As far as the LG G7’s January 2018 release is concerned, it seems that the company may unleash it through the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) that will be held in the same month. However, the CES platform is normally used to showcase next-generation home appliances like TVs and refrigerators. It will make more sense if the LG G7 flagship smartphone is unveiled at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona that is usually used for showcasing mobile devices. It seems that LG is looking forward to launch the LG G7 before the Samsung Galaxy S9 is introduced. It may so happen that the LG G7 may get announced in January and then release in February.</p>

Launched late last night, the phone brings along some new features while retaining some from the LG V10 such as the second display at the top.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-97062" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/LG-V20-official-1.png?x44794" alt="LG V20 official 1" width="585" height="726" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/LG-V20-official-1.png 585w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/LG-V20-official-1-242x300.png 242w" sizes="(max-width: 585px) 100vw, 585px" /></p>
<h4 style="text-align: justify">First Android 7.0 Nougat Phone</h4>
<p style="text-align: justify">The usual norm is for Google to launch the new version of android alongside the new nexus devices, but this year was different. The new nexus (Pixel) phones haven&#8217;t launched yet but older nexus devices are already running Android Nougat.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify">The LG V20 is the first phone to launch with Android Nougat out of the box and LG wants you to know that. However, it comes with LG&#8217;s UX 5.0+ on top.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify"><div class="su-youtube su-u-responsive-media-yes"><iframe width="600" height="400" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/u8gf32H1WOs?autohide=2&amp;autoplay=0&amp;mute=0&amp;controls=1&amp;fs=1&amp;loop=0&amp;modestbranding=0&amp;rel=1&amp;showinfo=1&amp;theme=dark&amp;wmode=&amp;playsinline=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen allow="autoplay; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture" title=""></iframe></div>
<p style="text-align: justify"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-97066" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/LG-V20-official-5.png?x44794" alt="LG V20 official 5" width="769" height="780" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/LG-V20-official-5.png 769w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/LG-V20-official-5-296x300.png 296w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/LG-V20-official-5-768x779.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 769px) 100vw, 769px" /></p>
<h4 style="text-align: justify">Dual Cameras Out, Dual Cameras In</h4>
<p style="text-align: justify">The LG V10 launched with 5MP dual front facing cameras and a 16MP rear camera. The V20 on the other hand drops one of the front cameras and adds an extra one to the rear. The camera in front is a 5MP f/1.9 wide angle shooter and the rear cameras are a combination of a 16MP f/1.8 camera with OIS and an 8MP f/2.4 135° wide-angle camera. There is also laser auto focus, PDAF, and dual LED flash.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-97068 size-full" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/LG-V20-official-6.png?x44794" width="773" height="398" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/LG-V20-official-6.png 773w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/LG-V20-official-6-300x154.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/LG-V20-official-6-768x395.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 773px) 100vw, 773px" /></p>
<h4 style="text-align: justify">Hi-Fi Audio, Hi-Fi Video</h4>
<p style="text-align: justify">The LG V20 is the first phone in the world to feature 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC. The DAC chip helps reduce ambient noise levels by up to 50%. LG says listening to audio tracks will sound close to a live performance when using compatible wired headsets. Yes, the V20 has an audio jack.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify">The V20 also has Hi-Fi video recording which when activated lets you record lossless 24-bit audio alongside your video.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-97070" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/LG-V20-official-8.png?x44794" alt="LG V20 official 8" width="527" height="409" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/LG-V20-official-8.png 527w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/LG-V20-official-8-300x233.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 527px) 100vw, 527px" /> <img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-97063" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/LG-V20-official-2.png?x44794" alt="LG V20 official 2" width="794" height="632" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/LG-V20-official-2.png 794w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/LG-V20-official-2-300x239.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/LG-V20-official-2-768x611.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 794px) 100vw, 794px" /></p>

The Korean tech giant has however announced the release of the V20 which is the successor to last year&#8217;s dual-screen and tri-camera V10.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-92089" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/ve20.png?x44794" alt="lg v20 specs leak" width="716" height="337" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/ve20.png 716w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/ve20-300x141.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 716px) 100vw, 716px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">A recent leak has released details of the LG V20 which will launch in September. LG is reportedly sticking to the capable Snapdragon 820 SoC which is a surprise as some other flagships that will be released later this year and will compete with the V20 will feature the slightly more powerful SD 821.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The phone will also feature a 5.5&#8221; FHD  in-cell screen which is thinner but smaller and lower than the V10 which has a 5.7&#8221; 2K screen. It will sport 3/4GB of RAM, with 32GB and 64GB ROM variants, Adreno 530 GPU, and an SD card slot that can take as much as a 256GB card.</p>
<figure id="attachment_92076" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-92076" style="width: 600px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-92076" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/LG-V10.jpg?x44794" alt="LG V10" width="600" height="399" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/LG-V10.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/LG-V10-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-92076" class="wp-caption-text">LG V10</figcaption></figure>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The cameras have been bumped up to 20MP  on the rear from last year&#8217;s 16MP and 8MP for selfies compared to last year&#8217;s 5MP setup. The company has not revealed if the front facing camera will be a dual setup like it&#8217;s predecessor.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The LG V20 will come with USB Type-C and a 4000mAh battery. There should also be Quick Charge 3.0 giving that the V10 has QC 2.0.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: #ff0000;">RELATED:</span> <span style="color: #3366ff;"><a style="color: #3366ff;" href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/07/13/xiaomis-mi-note-2-will/">Xiaomi Will Be The First Chinese Manufacturer To Release SD 821 Flagship</a></span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The unique selling point of the phone is that it will launch with Android 7.0 Nougat (confirmed by LG) making it the first OEM to release a phone running Google&#8217;s latest iteration of android.</p>
