OnePlus has started an incremental rollout of OxygenOS 16.0.2.400 for the OnePlus 13R in India. The update carries the build number CPH2691_16.0.2.400 and is being released in batches. It focuses on AI feature refinements, stronger photo and video editing tools, expanded home screen customization, system security improvements, and easier bug reporting.

The update brings several functional changes focused on AI tools, media editing, home screen customization, and security.

On the AI front, users now get direct access to storage cleanup tools through the Smart Sidebar, making routine device maintenance faster. AI-generated summaries and subtitles have also been refined. These features now stop automatically when there is no audio input, which improves accuracy and avoids unnecessary processing.

Photo and video tools receive a major upgrade. The Photos app now supports automatic straightening for portrait and architectural images while cropping or rotating. Video editing has been expanded with support for cutting and splitting clips, stitching multiple videos, adding background music, inserting text, adjusting playback speed, and cropping footage. Image loading is faster due to improved thumbnail parsing. Content sorting has also been improved with new filters such as Motion Photo, Screenshots and screen recordings, and Edited items.

Home screen customization is more flexible with this release. Users can resize app icons and add shortcuts that can be rearranged using drag and drop. These options also apply to app clone icons. The update adds support for 2×1 widget stacking, allowing more widgets to fit on the home screen without using extra space.

On the security side, the update includes the December 2025 Android security patch. Private Safe has been improved to allow users to edit images and videos directly without unlocking the files first. Phone Manager now prompts users to enable automatic blocklist updates over both Wi-Fi and mobile data to improve protection against threats.

Bug reporting has also been simplified for users in India. Issues can now be reported through the Bug Report section in the OnePlus Community app or by dialing *#800# to open the feedback tool directly.

The budget flagship segment is heating up again with the launch of the OnePlus 15R, which is positioned as a lite flagship that builds on the successor to the OnePlus 13R. While both phones belong to the powerful yet affordable OnePlus R series, the newer 15R promises a fresh design, bigger battery, faster performance, and more. But when pitting it against the 13R, which still delivers strong performance and a versatile camera system, the choice isn’t as clear-cut as it might seem at first glance. So here’s how these two stack up.

Performance

The biggest difference between these two phones lies under the hood. The OnePlus 15R is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, a 3nm chipset that offers noticeable gains in both CPU and GPU performance compared to its predecessor, helping it handle heavy multitasking and gaming more smoothly. In comparison, the OnePlus 13R is based on the older Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 platform.

While this is still a capable and reliable processor for gaming and other intensive workloads, the 15R definitely pulls ahead thanks to its newer silicon, improved cooling solution. You won’t notice any difference in general use like social apps, web browsing, and media playback, but if performance longevity and future-proofing are priorities, the 15R’s edge is clear.

Visual Experience

Both phones feature a tall AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution. However, there are some notable pros and cons to the panels on both phones. The OnePlus 15R upgrades the refresh rate to 165Hz, but this is only accessible in certain games and not unlocked by default (which is still 120Hz).

On the other hand, the 13R has a 120Hz LTPO panel that brings improved power efficiency since the refresh rate can go as low as 1Hz. While neither display radically changes how you consume videos or browse content, the higher refresh rate on the 15R gives it a slight advantage for competitive gaming.

Different Approaches to Photography

OnePlus brought a major shift in focus with its entire OnePlus 15 series, which is evident when you compare to last year’s OnePlus 13 lineup. The OnePlus 13R has a more versatile camera setup that consists of a triple camera module on the rear. You get a 50MP main camera along with an 8MP ultra wide angle lens and a 50MP telephoto shooter with 2x optical zoom.

In contrast, the 15R simplifies the experience with a dual camera system on the rear. The 50MP + 8MP camera setup returns, but the telephoto shooter is dropped entirely. So you miss out on the versatility this year. But it does have an edge in selfie shots thanks to a 32MP front camera that also supports autofocus.

Battery & Charging

Battery life has become a major selling point for the 15R. It packs a huge 7,400mAh cell, one of the largest in the OnePlus lineup. In other words, you can expect a noticeably longer battery life even with heavy use. Meanwhile, the OnePlus 13R has a 6,000mAh battery pack. While this is a smaller cell, it still brings all day battery life. Both models also get 80W wired fast charging.

Pricing & Verdict

The OnePlus 15R is the more future-proof device with an advanced chipset, bigger battery, smoother display, enhanced selfie camera, and updated software. But the OnePlus 13R still holds strong as a balanced, more affordable option with a more versatile camera setup, especially if you consider the recent discounts. Unless you’re upgrading from an older phone, it is hard to recommend upgrading from the 13R to the 15R.

This model is expected to bring notable upgrades all across the board.

Based on the recent teasers, leaks, and reports, the OnePlus 15R will get a massive 8,300mAh battery pack with 100W wired fast charging. The device is set to pack Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, bringing high end performance and a smooth gaming experience. Taking advantage of this horsepower is the tall 165Hz display, which even matches the flagship OnePlus 15. So if gaming is a focus, the next gen model might fit you the best.

Lacklustre Cameras

The camera setup on the 13R is a clear example of “good on paper, inconsistent in reality.” The primary 50MP main sensor and 50MP 2× telephoto lens deliver decent daylight photos, and shots can look sharp and detailed under ideal conditions. However, the 8MP ultra wide angle lens struggles significantly in low light conditions.

While the main camera is much larger, it can’t match actual premium phones or devices with larger sensors. Similarly, even the telephoto shooter disappoints with a mere 2x optical zoom, which leaves more to be desired here. If photography is an important aspect when buying a phone, you might want to skip this one.

Bunch of missing features

A high end IP rating is basically the norm now for most smartphones. Mid range and above are now expected to offer at least an IP68 or an IP68 + IP69 rating for improved protection against the elements. But the OnePlus 13R only came with a weaker IP65 rating. Even the upcoming OnePlus 15R is expected to offer an IP68 + IP69 rating, which offers better water resistance.

For security, the OnePlus 13R shipped with an in-display optical fingerprint scanner. However, the newer phones in its class are getting an ultrasonic sensor, including the 15R. If wireless charging is a feature you often use, the OnePlus 13R skips the hardware entirely.

OnePlus has started rolling out OxygenOS 16 globally, beginning today in India for the OnePlus 13R (build version CPH2691_16.0.0.205(EX01)). The rollout will expand to more regions in batches over the coming weeks. The update focuses on smoother animations, better performance, new AI tools, and visual improvements across the system.

OxygenOS 16 introduces improved animations for system apps, home screen icons, widgets, folders, and the Smart Sidebar. The text selection magnifier now fades in and out more naturally. The status bar transitions smoothly when opening the notification drawer or Quick Settings, and users can now interrupt the gesture at any point. Charging and fingerprint animations have been refined with light wave patterns, while scrolling and app transitions feel faster and more responsive.

The updated Trinity Engine manages performance and power more efficiently. It optimizes resources during gaming, video playback, and camera use. Gaming is now more stable, and multitasking is handled better through smart task scheduling. Photo albums load faster and consume less power, and cached videos and thumbnails open quicker. Power saving mode now adjusts performance in tiers based on battery level for better endurance.

AI features have been expanded under “OnePlus AI.” Mind Space adds a Mind Assistant that can search saved content. Photos get a new layout with clearer categories and easier navigation. Users can edit videos by trimming, merging, adjusting playback speed, or adding transitions and background music. Notes now support block editing, text highlighting, link sharing, and improved formatting options. The Recorder app has a cleaner interface, AI noise reduction, and automatic templates for meetings or lectures. AI Writer helps create content for social media posts, notes, or summaries, while AI VoiceScribe can generate context-based call summaries.

The visual interface introduces a new Flux Home screen with light field effects, dynamic wallpapers, and a redesigned layout. The new One Serif font and Aurora visual effects improve readability and system depth.

OxygenOS 16 also adds better cross-device features with O+ Connect, allowing searches across phone and PC, improved in-car Bluetooth pairing, and My Devices in Quick Settings for managing linked devices. Other updates include AI-powered Doc Scanner, customizable Quick Settings, better Wi-Fi stability, and improved privacy options. The update is live for Indian users and will roll out to more regions soon.

OnePlus has started releasing the OxygenOS 15.0.0.860 update for the OnePlus 13R in India. The rollout is incremental and will first reach a small number of users before expanding more widely in the coming days.

The update comes as build CPH2691_15.0.0.860(EX01) and includes several improvements in animations, photo management, privacy features, and system security.

For a smoother experience, animations have been improved when tapping Live Alerts or notifications on the lock screen.

In Photos, a new map album has been added, letting users view all images with location data on a map. If photos stored in the Private album are made public again, they will now return to their original locations for easier access. Users can also change their privacy password on each secondary page of Private Safe as well as in the Locked album.

Phone Manager now shows daily and weekly screen time under App management. The IR Remote app has also been updated with a new button layout on the remote control panel for better usability.

The update also integrates the September 2025 Android security patch to improve system security.

Since this is an incremental OTA, only a small percentage of OnePlus 13R users in India will get the update today. A broader rollout will follow in the coming days. The update content may vary depending on the region.

Vivo V60 (full review) arrived last month as a mid-range smartphone packed with impressive features like a bright AMOLED panel, Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor, powerful cameras, and a huge 6,500mAh battery — all for a starting price of INR 37,000. It’s an excellent choice for the price, but not the only showstopper in this price segment.

There are several great alternatives to the Vivo V60 from its rivals, including OnePlus, Realme, Samsung, Google, and others. Here are six excellent alternatives that give the Vivo V60 some serious competition.

1. OnePlus 13R

The OnePlus 13R is a strong contender in the premium mid-range segment for many reasons. The primary one is solid performance, thanks to Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The Pixel 8 Pro delivers big on camera and software. Floating Windows and Split View

The update improves animations when opening, repositioning, and resizing floating windows. Split View is no longer limited to fixed ratios, and users can now drag the divider to adjust app sizes in landscape mode. Private Safe Updates

Private Safe has been expanded with several new options. Users can now share images and videos directly from Private Safe, set custom covers for albums, and sort or view media by time. Files can also be placed directly under the “Other files” category.

All notifications in landscape now appear in a simplified banner format. Swiping down on a banner opens the app in a floating window. For those looking for a more affordable device that is more affordable than the OnePlus 13, the OnePlus 13R is a great option to check out. OnePlus has started rolling out the OxygenOS 15.0.0.830 update for the OnePlus 13R in India. The update is being released in batches through an incremental OTA rollout.

The update brings several new features and improvements. In gaming, a new Game Camera lets users take live screenshots and record flashback clips during gameplay. For communication and interconnection, the update adds remote control support for Windows PCs, allowing users to access and control their PC files from the phone. The cellular network algorithm has also been improved to offer smoother network connections.

In multimedia, a Speaker Cleaner feature has been added to help maintain speaker performance. This can be found under Phone Manager, Tools, More, Accessibility & convenience, and Speaker Cleaner.

For apps, a new Drag & drop feature is now available. It allows gesture-based actions on images and text in third-party apps. Users can enable this under Settings, Accessibility & convenience, and Drag & drop.

Several system improvements are also included. Users can now perform fuzzy searches with spaces in Settings and search for app names to manage them directly. The responsiveness of the floating bar in floating windows has been improved, along with smoother animations when exiting the Quick Settings and Notification drawer. Apps can now be opened from quick functions even when the screen is locked. Stacked notifications now show a summary of undisplayed notifications and their sources. The display order of search results in Settings has been optimized. The color effect of the navigation bar background and app icons has been improved for better consistency. The June 2025 Android security patch is also included in this update to strengthen system security.

The update content may vary by region. Users in India can report device issues through the OnePlus Community App under Bug Report or by dialing *#800# to access the feedback tool. Users can check for updates by going to Settings > System > System Update.

OnePlus has started rolling out the OxygenOS 15.0.0.801 update for the OnePlus 13R in India. The update, version CPH2691_15.0.0.801(EX01), is being released in batches and will gradually reach more users.

This update adds bypass charging, which lets power go directly to the phone instead of the battery while gaming. This helps keep the phone cooler. New clock widgets are also included. These can be added to the Home screen and show the current weather and local time.

In Super Power Saving Mode, the default apps have been updated. It’s now easier to add apps to this mode. You can now set a custom ringtone more easily when creating or editing a contact.

Gesture controls for floating windows have been improved. Closing them is now smoother, and shadow effects around them look better. The April 2025 Android security patch is also part of this update. In terms of device connection, the OnePlus 13R can now connect to a Mac. You can view and transfer files between the phone and Mac without any extra tools.

A new partial screen recording feature lets you record a selected part of the screen instead of the full display. This update is rolling out slowly. A small group of users will get it first, followed by a wider rollout.

However, there are some excellent options that might offer you more value for the money.

OnePlus 13R has just been launched globally, and it doesn’t look like a promising upgrade over last year’s OnePlus 12R. Yes, there are many improvements to the OnePlus 13R, but it also has some downgrades that could make it a less lucrative deal, depending on your priorities.

OnePlus 13R vs OnePlus 12R: Upgrades, Downgrades, and Missing Improvements

Design & Display

The display is unchanged—it’s still a 6.78-inch AMOLED with a 120Hz refresh rate and 4500 nits peak brightness. However, the display protection is a bit downgraded. The OnePlus 13R’s screen is equipped with Gorilla Glass 7i, while the 12R has Gorilla Glass Victus 2 with better drop protection.

Performance

The OnePlus 13R rocks the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which brings significant CPU and GPU improvements over the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 that’s inside the OnePlus 12R. Read the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 vs. 8 Gen 2 comparison for more details. The newer model also gets faster UFS 4.0 storage (vs. UFS 3.1 on the 12R).

The already larger vapor chamber is now 8.6% bigger, which promises an additional 1.5°C reduction in temperature over the 12R. Both smartphones smoothly handle everyday tasks. However, when it comes to handling resource-intensive tasks such as gaming, the 13R does a better job.

Camera

The rear camera setup has been upgraded. The 50MP Sony IMX890 primary sensor is replaced with a 50MP Sony LYT-700 sensor, promising improvements. Another big change is the addition of a 50MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom. The high-resolution sensor allows it to capture 4x zoom without sacrificing image quality. It doesn’t have OIS, though.

The 8MP ultrawide camera is still there. The OnePlus 13R has a 16MP selfie camera on the front, just like the 12R.

In short, the OnePlus 13R cameras perform better in zoom shots, while other aspects are almost the same.

Software

OnePlus has also improved the software update policy for the 13R. It promises four Android updates, while the 12R would only get three. In other words, the newer model will get OS updates until Android 19, but for the 12R, Android 17 would be the final major upgrade.

While four OS upgrades are generous, OnePlus doesn’t match Google and Samsung support.

Connectivity

The OnePlus 13R adds Wi-Fi 6e support and a newer Bluetooth v5.4 standard. However, it still uses Type-C 2.0. Even cheaper phones nowadays come with Type-C 3.2, which offers significantly faster data transfer over a USB cable.

Battery & Charging

The OnePlus 13R packs a massive 6,000mAh battery, a big jump from the 5,500mAh on the 12R. That’s great, but the charging speed has been reduced from 100W to 80W.

According to OnePlus, the 13R takes 20 minutes to reach 50%, while the 100W charging on the 12R only takes 26 minutes to fully charge the battery. Yes, the 13R has a bigger battery, but still, that’s a massive difference in the charging time.

OnePlus should have added wireless support on the 13R. Wireless charging is no longer exclusive to expensive phones. It’s already present on many mid-range phones, such as the Nothing Phone (1), Galaxy S21 FE, and Motorola Edge 50 Neo. The OnePlus 13R is priced higher than these phones, and therefore, I strongly feel the need for wireless charging support.

OnePlus 13R vs 12R: Conclusion

OnePlus 13R is a great mid-range phone that brings necessary upgrades to the camera, performance, battery capacity, and software support. However, there are some downgrades as well, such as weaker Gorilla Glass protection and slower wired charging compared to 12R (review).

The two areas where the OnePlus 13R could have done better are: improving the USB data transfer rate (should have been upgraded to type-C 3.2) and adding wireless charging support. The OnePlus 13R is an excellent value-for-money smartphone, otherwise.

Almost Flagship-level Performance

The OnePlus 13R houses a year-old flagship chipset like its predecessors. It comes powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip.

This silicon only comes second to the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite found inside the phone’s bigger sibling, OnePlus 13. It is fast enough to handle all the demanding games (including ray tracing) and AI tasks.

The chip is paired with LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. Most importantly, the handset starts with double the storage (256GB) and more RAM (12GB) compared to previous models. It is also offered in a 16GB + 512GB version.

Further, it boots OxygenOS 15 based on Android 15. OnePlus promises 4 Android updates and 6 years of security updates.

OxygenOS 15 is probably the smoothest software on smartphones at the moment with its fluid animations across the UI. It also offers several useful AI features.

Proper Three Lens Camera Setup

One of the drawbacks of the OnePlus R series has been its cameras. The OnePlus 13R finally fixes it with a useful three-lens camera system.

The phone no longer has the pointless 2MP macro snapper found on its predecessors. It is replaced with a functional 50MP Samsung JN5 2x telephoto shooter for portraits.

The 8MP ultrawide unit remains the same and so is the 16MP selfie camera. However, the primary camera is now an OIS-assisted 50MP Sony LYT-700 sensor instead of the older IMX890.

Humongous Battery and Flat Display

The OnePlus 13R is backed by a huge 6,000mAh battery like the OnePlus 13. It supports 80W wired charging to fill the cell in under an hour.

Also, the device sports a flat display like most flagships now. The 6.78-inch OLED panel offers a resolution of 2780 x 1264 pixels (1.5K) and 450 PPI. 

The Corning Gorilla Glass 7i-protected screen refreshes at 120Hz (LTPO) and can hit a peak brightness level of 4500 nits. Under High Brightness Mode (HBM), it is rated to reach 1600 nits.

The phone is also IP65-rated for dust and water resistance. 

Ecosystem Features

Thanks to a refined OxygenOS 15, the user experience is now better if you happen to own other OnePlus devices. The brand’s tablets, earbuds, and watches play nicely with the phone.
