The OnePlus 6 smartphone garnered huge popularity among smartphone lovers after hitting the store shelves earlier this year. Regrettably, the phone’s steep retail price stopped it from becoming an instant hit among cost-conscious buyers.

In a bid to make the smartphone available to those who are on a tight budget, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer is currently offering the OnePlus 6 at a considerably dropped price on Banggood. So without further ado, let’s head straight to the details.

You can now buy the OnePlus 6 smartphone at a discounted price of just $533.33 on the Chinese online store that warrants the best bang for your buck. This is a noteworthy 14% reduction in the phone’s steep retail price of $619.99.

But if that doesn’t impress you much, you can apply coupon code 10BGOP64 to get an extra $85.33 off at the time of checking out. In other words, you can reduce your already lowered grand total further down to just $448 with the help of the aforesaid coupon.

Despite bearing a dropped price tag, the OnePlus 6 is quite an irresistible smartphone that sports a big6.28 inches Optic AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with a screen resolution of 1080 x 2280 pixels. The device is housed in a sturdy aluminum frame and it comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for added protection.

The OnePlus 6 is powered by a Qualcomm SDM845 Snapdragon 845 processor and it packs an Adreno 630 GPU, under the hood. The phone offers 6GB of RAM and a hearty 64GB of non-expandable onboard storage so that you have ample space for storing your favorite content.

Moreover, it houses a 16.0MP+20.0MP dual camera setup on the back and a 16.0MP front shooter for selfies and face-to-face video chatting. The phone runs on H2OS-based Android 8.1 Oreo OS and is backed by a built-in 3300mAh battery.

You can head straight to this link to check out the full specification and avail the discount, which will be valid only for the black color version of the OnePlus 6 smartphone.

The design was utilized on the HTC U11+ and more recently, Xiaomi unveiled an Explorer edition with a translucent glass panel which gives a glimpse of the internals. OnePlus did not include a translucent glass variant when it launched the OnePlus 6 but that was spotted online. Turned out the translucent glass back design was a third-party creation by a fan of the brand who shared his design on Weibo.

As seen in the photos, the transparent glass back gives a glimpse of the internals such as the battery, fuselage, cable and other components. The fan seems to have moulded the back panel of the OP6 using a translucent material that can then be glued onto the back. Thus, all the components that can be seen when the rear panel is removed become visible. The rear panel has cutouts for the dual rear cameras and flashlight as well as the fingerprint sensor.

Read Also: Buy OnePlus 6 4G Phablet For Only $500.97 On GearBest

Of course, this sort of third-party design brings along safety concerns. OnePlus CEO Lui Zuohu who also shared the pictures adviced that attention is paid to safety when embarking on such venture. The rear panel swap will also void the phone’s warranty. In our opinion, the internal components don’t look too beautiful to have them all displayed. The Mi 8 Explorer edition and HTC U11+ variant with a translucent back looked beautiful because the manufacturer had to arrange the internals to make them attractive. In the case of the Mi 8, the real internals isn’t even what is displayed and we still love it.

The phone lacked depth sensing and 3D face mapping so OnePlus utilized a custom solution developed by a Chinese security company called SenseTime which has a pedigree in facial recognition.

The OnePlus 5T’s Face Unlock feature was discovered to be unsecure as it was discovered to lack the ability to differentiate a real face from a printed photo despite being capable of unlocking the device in record time. Some users were able to register a face from a printed photo but not actually unlock the device. The feature was thus included on the OnePlus 6 and it seems the flaw still lingers and is even worse.

I printed my face to unlock my OnePlus 6 for the lulz… it worked ¯_(ツ)_/¯ pic.twitter.com/rAVMq8JKBr

A Twitter user @rikvduijn posted a video on Tuesday which showed the OnePlus 6 being unlocked with a paper cutout of his face. Interestingly, the method apparently works with a black and white photo as well. The video captures one of the user’s friends holding a photo of his face and showing it to the OnePlus 6. This instantly granted the user access to the OS, meaning the Face Unlock feature can be fooled.

OnePlus is quick to respond to this flaw and the response is really not different from what we know about Face Unlock. The statement released by the company stated thus; “We designed Face Unlock around convenience, and while we took corresponding measures to optimise its security we always recommended you use a password/PIN/fingerprint for security. For this reason, Face Unlock is not enabled for any secure apps such as banking or payments. We’re constantly working to improve all of our technology, including Face Unlock.”

The OnePlus 6 teardown/disassembly process has been carried out by the tech gurus at iFixit and from their findings, the glass body makes the phone much harder to repair.

That is not in anyway condemning the OP6 to the waste bin. The device still remains a premium flagship worth every penny it costs. The teardown also shows that it is pretty easy to remove the back cover from the phone than on other glass phones. The reason for this is the longer cable that connects the fingerprint scanner allows you more wiggle room and lesser probability of tearing something off.

Once the back cover is off, the battery can be removed easily without having to deal with disentangling a battery glued to the frame. Moreso, the OnePlus 6 packs a 3,000mAh battery which is bound to deteriorate over time. Thus, the battery will need to be replaced at some point in order to get optimal battery life.

After the battery is removed, the motherboard is next in line. The motherboard is held in place by 10 Philip screws which will need to be unscrewed. OnePlus did not craft the 6 to be fully waterproof but touts the device as capable to withstand a short drop in the sink or exposure to rain. A quick inspection of the internals shows the presence of water insulation elements.

After the motherboard is removed, the AMOLED screen can then be accessed. It must be noted that OnePlus seems to have held the screen in place with a generous amount of glue and so, replacement is very risky and increases that chances of damaging the screen when replacing it. The OnePlus 6 is the latest addition to the family and it went on sale for the first time today (May 22) in China, India, North America and Europe. Reports coming in from the Chinese company indicate that the sale was a hit from the figures gathered so far.

The OnePlus 6 posted some impressive opening day sales, according to Carl Pei, OnePlus’ co-founder. According to Mr Pei, the company sold 100,000 units in the first 12 minutes of the device going on sale in China. The India sales is pretty impressive as well, as the company announced that in the first 10 minutes of availability on Amazon, the OnePlus 6 generated over one billion rupees (approximately $14.7 million) in revenue. OnePlus released the device in India on May 21 exclusively via its own website and on Amazon Prime, before general availability starting today.

The report of the OP6 sales in North America and Europe is still unknown but we believe the device will equally do well. The OnePlus 6 launch event was marked with long queues at its events in New York and San Francisco. So, the sales would definitely not perform badly.

On May 16, the former Chinese startup owned by BBK Electronics will showcase its 2018 flagship in a dedicated event. It is going to be a stunning smartphone, but it will also be cheaper than the most top-end flagship. Despite the lower price, it will be as powerful as the Samsung Galaxy S9 and iPhone X.

Here, you can find 5 features of the upcoming handset which may get attract your attention.

OnePlus 6 will have a premium design

Aesthetically, OnePlus 6 will be much more attractive than all of its predecessor. For the first time ever, there will be a rear side made of glass which will make the phone have a premium look. Further, OnePlus 6 will have an iPhone X-like notched display, and this means that the screen-to-body ratio will be very high. There will still be a chin, but its thickness will be low and the display will cover almost the whole front panel. Thanks to the tri-bezel-less design, the handset will remain as compact as its predecessor even though the display will be very wide (19:9 aspect ratio). Unfortunately, the fingerprint reader will remain on the back, but there will be an advanced facial recognition technology to unlock the phone.

OnePlus 6 will boast amazing performance

Devices by OnePlus have always been among the most powerful flagships in terms of performance. OnePlus 5 and 5T were the best phones on benchmarks for a lot of time. They are incredibly fast and smooth in every scenario, and this is one of the main reasons why people choose OnePlus devices. The new OnePlus 6 will probably provide an even better performance as its hardware side will be more advanced. The handset will sport an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset running at a max frequency of 2.8 GHz which is much more impressive than its predecessor SD835 found on the 5T. Further, it will have up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of UFS internal storage.

OnePlus 6 is waterproof

For the first time ever, a OnePlus device has got the waterproof treatment. A recent teaser has confirmed that OnePlus 6 will be water-resistant and it will be possible to use it under the rain with no damages. Unfortunately, the former Chinese startup did not disclose the IP rating of the device, but given that it has been officially teased we expect OnePlus 6 to have either the IP67 or IP68 certification. In the first case, it would be dustproof and waterproof up to 1 meter deep for 30 minutes at max, while the IP68 rating would make it waterproof up to 1.5 meters deep. According to the company, the older OnePlus 5 and 5T are splash resistant but no IP rating has been included in their specs sheet.

OnePlus 6 will sport improved cameras with AI

OnePlus 6 will come with a dual camera setup on its back with 20 + 16 MP dual lenses. This camera will be significantly improved if we compare it with the cameras of OP5 and 5T. The CEO Pete Lau has already published some camera samples which revealed a stunning photo quality with an incredibly high detail and a low amount of noise even in low light conditions. Further, the company has revealed through a teaser that the camera will support AI, probably for scene recognition, selfie beautification and more. The camera is expected to come with optical stabilization unlike the previous models, and it should have a bright f/1.7 aperture. There is still no confirmation regarding the front camera, but we believe it will come with a high amount of Megapixels. You can click here to see a camera comparison between OnePlus 6 and some of the best camera phones actually available.

OnePlus 6 price will remain affordable

Even though OnePlus 6 will cost slightly more than its older sibling 5T, its price will remain affordable compared with the most important flagships in the market. In Europe, it’s expected to come with a price tag of €519 for the version with 64 GB of storage and €569 for the 128 GB version. The 5T started from €499 for the base variant, but it’s also worth mentioning that Samsung, as well as Apple and Huawei, have raised the prices of their most powerful flagships which are actually way more expensive than OnePlus 6.

The teaser poster was immediately removed from the page and then edited with a different content inserted. OnePlus has now officially confirmed the Super Slow Motion video shooting feature on the OP6 via a tweet containing a video teaser. You can find the video after the next paragraph.

Slow-motion video recording isn’t actually a new feature as OnePlus flagships as last year’s models featured the ability to record slow-motion videos but not at 960 fps. This obviously new feature is termed Super Slow motion so, we could be looking at 960 frames/second slow-motion video recording or even more. However, the video does nothing more than teasing the feature. It reveals little details of the feature instead, the short video flashes through different scenes at a rather swift pace. Nevertheless, we are still able to look through and notice that the actions of the persons in the video tend to move in slow motion.

We are almost losing count of the high-powered features the OnePlus 6 flagship is expected to pack. From a glass body, to an heart rate sensor, to a Snapdragon 845 chipset as well as a waterproof body, the device is surely worth looking forward to its launch. May 17 is the date all the features will be unveiled. The OnePlus 5 received lots of knocks for its uninspiring design and not so spectacular design. That may have prompted OnePlus to quickly release the OnePlus 5T which features a full-screen design that looks nothing like the iPhone. Next year’s OnePlus 6 is expected to feature a full-screen design and several other features.

There are now rumours that OnePlus may include the Face ID technology which made its debut on the iPhone X recently on the OnePlus 6. The Face ID was one of the new and standout features on the latest iPhone X and already, several OEMs like Huawei are tipped to be working on including it on their own upcoming smartphones. While it is too early to speculate what features may be on the OnePlus 6, a tipster who is deemed as reliable has hinted at the presence of a similar advanced facial recognition system as found on the iPhone X. This suggests that the OnePlus 6 will come with a similar camera hardware setup like the iPhone X, including a 3D camera module that will use infrared light to measure depth. We are not expecting a similar notch on the display as found on the iPhone X, though. Rather, the device is said to have a full top bezel where the extra sensors should be located.

Read Also: OnePlus 6 Could Release Early In 2018, Underglass Fingerprint Sensor Expected

OnePlus had adopted its own facial recognition system on the OnePlus 5T dubbed Face Unlock. The technology is super faster than Apple’s Face ID. Unfortunately, it is less secure than Face ID such that OnePlus acknowledges that it is insecure for mobile payments. It remains just a convenient way of unlocking the phone. However, OnePlus promised to improve on it and that improvement could come in the form of the 3D Facial Recognition technology used on the iPhone X.
