OnePlus Ace 3V surfaces on certifications, fast charging and battery details emerge

A new OnePlus smartphone, speculated to be the upcoming OnePlus Ace 3V, has been spotted on both 3C and UFCS certifications. This follows an earlier leak revealing a redesigned camera layout for the device.

The phone showed up on both 3C and UFCS with the model number PJF110. However, they haven’t explicitly confirmed it as the OnePlus Ace 3V. But because its model number is similar to the Ace 3 (PJD110), it’s highly likely to be the Ace 3V.

The 3C certification reveals that the phone will support 100W wired fast charging. Additionally, the UFCS certification suggests it will have a 2680mAh dual-cell battery, totaling 5,360mAh in size. OnePlus can market it as a 5500mAh cell.

Besides this, neither of the certifications reveals much about the smartphone. So let’s take a quick recap of the rumored specifications of the smartphone.

OnePlus Ace 3V Specifications (Rumored)

According to reports, the Ace 3V will have an OLED panel with a 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.

The device is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s upcoming 7+ Gen 3 chipset which is said to have exceptionally good raw performance. It will be paired with 16GB of RAM.

Core i9-14900KS, source: pakhtunov/OCN

The Core i9-14900KS joins the lineup alongside its predecessors, the Core i9-12900KS and Core i9-13900KS, which were released on April 5, 2022, and January 12, 2023, respectively. Unlike its predecessors, the i9-14900KS reportedly boasts a higher clock speed of up to 6.2 GHz (instead of 6.0 GHz) on two cores, which was previously spotted in a leak in late February along with Lunar Lake Laptop CPUs. The Core i9-14900KS is also expected to reach up to 5.9 GHz on all P cores and 4.5 GHz on the E cores.

One notable aspect of the Intel Core i9-14900KS is its pricing, which is reported to be around $740, approximately 30% higher than the current flagship i9-14900K. Despite the higher price tag, the i9-14900KS promises significant performance improvements, making it an attractive option for enthusiasts and power users.

In terms of specifications, the i9-14900KS is based on the Raptor Lake Refresh architecture and features 8 performance cores (P) and 16 efficient cores (E), resulting in a total of 24 cores and 32 threads. It comes equipped with 36MB of L3 cache and 32MB of L2 cache, providing ample memory for demanding tasks and multitasking scenarios. Additionally, the maximum thermal design power (TDP) has likely been bumped up from the i9-14900K’s 125W to 150W for the upcoming i9-14900KS.

Notably, this processor will be the final addition to Intel’s LGA-1700 platform and marks the end of an era with the last CPU to utilize the old naming convention for Desktop CPUs. Going forward, it will be replaced by the LGA-1851 socket starting with the 15th-generation Arrow Lake CPUs by the end of this year.

Google Tensor G4 chip to have better performance and efficiency: Report

Google‘s upcoming Pixel 9 series, and possibly the Pixel Fold 2, are expected to feature the Tensor G4 chip. The SoC is rumored to be produced by Samsung Electronics Foundry.

A recent report from the Korean publication Financial News, backed by industry sources, corroborates that Google and Samsung are collaborating on the Tensor G4.

The Tensor G4 is said to utilize Samsung’s advanced 4-nanometer process alongside FOWLP (Fan-out Wafer Level Packaging).

Google Tensor G4

The result, the report says, will be improved thermal management, power efficiency, and performance, areas where the previous Tensor G3 reportedly fell short compared to competitors.

The report adds that the decision for Google to opt for Samsung Electronics’ 4nm process stems from the positive reception of Samsung’s Exynos 2400 chip used in the Galaxy S24 series. That means the success of the Exynos 2400 chip has certainly bolstered Samsung’s reputation as a capable semiconductor manufacturer.

Not only Google, but also other tech industry players seem interested in alternatives to TSMC, as evidenced by visits from leaders at Open AI, TenStorrent, and Meta to Samsung Electronics.

As for the Tensor G4 SoC specs, there’s still much we don’t know. A previous leak suggested the chip might include a hardware-based ray-tracing GPU, which isn’t surprising considering Samsung has been integrating it with their Exynos processors for a few generations now.

Moreover, the rumor suggests that Google will be sticking with a tried-and-tested 3-core architecture featuring Cortex-X4, Cortex-A720, and Cortex-A520 cores. While the exact core count remains unknown, we can expect the new chip to offer better performance. We’ll keep you posted on any further updates regarding the Tensor G4 SoC.

Both Roborock and Dreame are Xiaomi sub-brands and the similarity of the two robot vacuums seems not far-fetched. The Qrevo MaxV offers a maximum suction power of 7,000 Pa and features a rubber brush and two mopping pads with a top speed of 200 rpm at the rear. The robot vacuum’s FlexiArm Design mop provides up to 98.8% coverage of the edges of the room and can get as close as 1.85mm away from the wall. The brushes and mops can be lifted up based on the surface and cleaning settings. The docking station offers hot water mop washing, hot air drying, and auto emptying of the onboard tank and dustbin. Automatic dirt detection is also featured for effective washing.

The gadget is expected to be launched in other EU markets subsequently. The Qrevo MaxV will retail in the US in April for $1,120. MediaTek pip Apple & Qualcomm to emerge as the most popular smartphone chipset vendor in 2023

Chipmaker MediaTek has been named the most popular SoC vendor at the end of 2023. The company is reputed for manufacturing the fastest smartphone processor ever produced. The MediaTek Dimensity 9300 and other MediaTek offerings are the dominant chipsets in the smartphone market currently.

MediaTek Dimensity 9400(1)

A new report by Canalys highlights the evolution of MediaTek as the SoC vendor of choice in 2023. The report stated that MediaTek sold 117 million units of chipsets in the fourth quarter of 2023 compared to Apple’s 78 million and Qualcomm’s 69 million. Other big players in the smartphone SoC market are Google, Samsung, and Unisoc. Smartphone shipments by MediaTek within the year also grew by 21% year-on-year (YoY) to $23 billion. However, Apple’s $87 billion in shipments revenue eclipsed that of MediaTek. Qualcomm also outperformed MediaTek with shipments worth $30 billion in 2023.

The Canalys report indicates that Qualcomm’s SoC shipment revenue shrank by 2% from the previous year (2022). Samsung’s earnings from its Exynos chips declined by 44% and it seemed apparent that it could have fared better with chips from other brands during Q4 2023. This was equivalent to about 40% of Qualcomm’s returns and 25% of MediaTek’s numbers for the quarter. The report also indicates that Xiaomi was the major buyer of Qualcomm chipsets at 25%. Xiaomi also accounted for about 20% of MediaTek chipsets shipments in Q4 2023 but Samsung was the biggest customer for the vendor.

MediaTek

Huawei hit the market with a bang in 2023 according to the Canalys report. The Chinese OEM recorded a 5,121% improvement with 7 million units shipped and revenue of $7 billion. Huawei’s resurgence is driven mainly by its new Kirin SoCs. Another strong performer with a potential for improved growth was Unisoc. Its revenues grew by 24% YoY at $3 billion and shipments were 27 million units. The major customers of Unisoc were the Transsion brands, as well as Realme and Lenovo. The report indicated that Google seemingly performed poorly in terms of Soc shipments with revenue estimated at $2 billion and 3 million units moved. This may not be unconnected with the nature of its Tensor chipsets which are produced exclusively for Pixel phones.
