Xiaomi Smart Camera Series lifecycle sales have exceeded 11 million units

Xiaomi’s Smart Camera Series is a very popular product in China. A recent official report from the Xiaomi Smart ecosystem indicates that the lineup of products under the Smart Camera Series has surpassed 11 million units in sales. The official poster provided a breakdown of the sales of the popular lineup of smart cameras from Xiaomi.

The Xiaomi Smart Camera series was ranked first in China as the most patronized surveillance camera in 2022 and the first half of 2023. The data covers both online and offline sales across multiple platforms. The impressive numbers point to the growing popularity of the Xiaomi Smart Camera lineup and their overall acceptability in China. The Xiaomi Smart Camera series includes the Xiaomi Smart Camera PTZ Edition SE+, Xiaomi Smart Camera 2 AI Enhanced Edition, Xiaomi Smart Camera 3 Pro PTZ Edition 2K, and the Xiaomi Smart Camera Standard Edition 2K. Some other models in the lineup are the Xiaomi Smart Camera 2 PTZ Edition, and the Xiaomi Smart Camera 3 PTZ Edition.

The array of smart cameras under the Xiaomi Smart Camera series offers users with a range of functionality and affordability. The prices of the models range between 129 yuan ($18) and 399 yuan ($56). The lineup offers varied choices to users and this versatility in pricing could be a major driver of the increased sales of the Xiaomi Smart Camera series in China. One of the picks of the lineup is the Xiaomi Smart Camera 3 Pro priced at 319 yuan ($45). It is equipped with a 5MP lens and supports 3K image quality and uses ultra-low light full color. It has a built-in high-sensitivity image sensor that adapts to dark light for optimized capturing.

The Xiaomi Smart Camera 3 Pro was released in September 2023 and has an infrared fill light with support for humanoid detection. AI face recognition is also supported while the Bluetooth Mesh gateway is also integrated. This allows the Smart Camera 3 Pro to be used as a smart home device control center.

There is no detailed breakdown of the share of the various models to the stated 11 million units sold in China. There are no indications also of the sales numbers for the models in overseas markets.

It features a dual-function design with 32 running water streams for mopping and a 76AW suction efficiency for vacuuming. This model also boasts a 99.99% disinfection rate and an automatic cleaning system for its roller brush, pipes, and filters.

All models utilize tri-laser obstacle avoidance with LiDAR SLAM 4.0 Integration for navigation. The Narwal Freo X Ultra and Freo X Plus are set to release in March, while the S10 Pro will be available in April, offering a comprehensive suite of cleaning solutions for modern homes.

Mobile DRAM chip prices witnessed an 18 to 23% increase, while mobile NAND flash chip prices rose by 10 to 15% in the last quarter. These price hikes underscore a positive trajectory for the sector, fueling optimism for a broader recovery in the upcoming year.

Samsung’s production strategy, characterized by a cut in production since H1 2023, seems to be adapting to the changing market dynamics. In Q4, there are indications of gearing up for increased DRAM chip production, including an uptake in silicon wafers. The company’s aggressive stance in selling memory chips in Q4, especially in comparison to competitors like SK Hynix, signals an effort to lower inventory levels and align with market demands.

Despite challenges in the mobile business, Samsung is expected to show an operating profit of around 2.5 trillion won. However, shipments of flagship foldable models are estimated to have fallen by about 1 million units each compared to Q3. The mobile segment’s performance, affected by declining sales volumes of flagship smartphones with flexible displays, underscores the challenges faced by Samsung in this competitive market.

Investors keenly await the preliminary results set to be announced this week, as Samsung’s profit decline is considered a significant indicator for the entire semiconductor market. Despite the negative dynamics, the slowdown in the profit decline is viewed as a positive signal for investors, offering a glimpse of potential stability in the semiconductor industry.

Analysts, however, remain cautious, predicting a 35% year-on-year decline in Samsung’s operating profit to $2.82 billion for the last quarter. The semiconductor business, a key revenue driver, is expected to limit its operating loss to about $912 million, a significant improvement compared to the higher losses in the second and third quarters of the previous year. The memory price trends and production strategies employed by Samsung in the last quarter reveal the efforts to balance market demands and profitability, underlining the intricate challenges faced by one of the industry giants.

The student is named Natalie Nasatka, a Delaware student, and the story was originally aired on CBS. Natalie narrowly avoided death from excessive carbon monoxide inhalation by hitting the SOS button on her Apple Watch as she began to lose consciousness and was feeling extremely exhausted. The deadly carbon monoxide fumes were emanating from a faulty heater in Natalie’s room. Carbon monoxide is an odorless and tasteless gas that is hard to detect but very deadly. It can be detected by carbon monoxide detectors in the home but Miss Nasatka did not have a carbon monoxide detector at home at the time of the incident.

The SOS message was immediately acted on by the authorities and firefighters arrived at Miss Nasatka’s residence and dragged her out of bed to safety. The Apple Watch was critical in saving the life of the lady, as is the case with several survivors. Apple Vision Pro Pre-Orders Begin January 19 With Sales Commencing February 2

After release timelines leaked multiple times in the past, Apple today has officially announced the availability of the Vision Pro in the US. The mix-reality headset was announced at WWDC last year. The Cupertin-based tech giant has revealed the pricing and availability details of the device along with its bundled accessories. Commenting on the official release, CEO Tim Cook said that the era of spatial computing has arrived. It is touted to be the most advanced consumer electronics device created. 

Apple Vision Pro official availability details are out

The Apple Vision Pro carries a starting price tag of $3,499 for the 256GB variant. The company hinted that there will be other models. The mixed-reality headset will go up for pre-orders starting January 19 through Apple’s online store. It will start shipping from February 2. The Vision Pro will also be available at the brand’s official stores from February 2. 

The Apple Vision Pro comes with a Solo Knit Band and Dual Loop Band. This gives users two options for fit that works best for them. The brand is also bundling a Light Seal, two Light Seal Cushions, and an Apple Vision Pro Cover for the front of the device. There is a polishing cloth, a battery, a USB-C cable, and a USB-C adapter.

Now, these watches are officially out, offering two models: Lily 2 and Lily 2 Classic. Both versions boast a sleek design featuring metal watch cases, hidden displays with unique patterned lenses, and updated color options.

In the realm of wearable smartwatches, battery life is everything. The Garmin Lily 2 doesn’t explicitly mention its battery capacity, but the company’s claim, it has a lithium-ion battery that provides up to a full five days of usage. Considering both models are 25.4 mm in size, it’s reasonable to assume this applies to both of them.

The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and has a resolution of 240 x 201 pixels, resulting in a pixel density of 318 PPI. Additionally, it boasts 5 ATM (50 meters) water resistance. Notably, it features sensors including an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, heart rate monitor, and SpO2 (blood oxygen) monitor. Similar to many of its competitors, it also includes features like activity tracking and sleep tracking.

Poco X6 Series Roundup: Launch Date, Specifications, and Expected Price

Poco is gearing up to hold its first launch event of 2024. The brand has confirmed to debut the Poco X6 series in the next few days.

The X series is the company’s mid-range smartphone lineup. It is a step below the flagship F series and above the budget M series in the brand’s product lineup.

Over the last few days, we have been hearing a lot about these phones via leaks and official teasers. Ahead of their announcement, we have compiled everything we know about them so far.

POCO X6 Pro

1. Poco X6 Series Launch Date

The Poco X6 series is scheduled to launch on January 11. It will be unveiled at an event that will begin at 8 PM GMT+8 (5:30 PM IST).

The lineup will consist of two devices, namely Poco X6 and Poco X6 Pro. They will be accompanied by Poco M6 Pro in some markets.

2. Poco X6 Series Specifications

Just like most Poco devices, the latest X6 series handsets are tweaked versions of existing Redmi phones. To be precise, the X6 is a rebranded Redmi Note 13 Pro, whereas the X6 Pro is a rebadged Redmi K70e.

Both smartphones will sport a 6.67-inch flat OLED display with a resolution of 2712 x 1220 pixels (1.5K), a 120Hz refresh rate, and Dolby Vision support. 

Under the hood, the X6 will house a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC. On the other hand, the X6 Pro will be packing a MediaTek Dimensity 8300 Ultra chip.

The X6 will come with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. While the X6 Pro will feature faster LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 storage.

On the software front, the Poco X6 Pro will ship with Xiaomi’s latest HyperOS based on Android 14. But the vanilla Poco X6 will boot the older Android 13-based MIUI 14.

Both handsets will come with a similar camera system. Their setup will include an OIS-assisted 64MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultrawide unit, and a 2MP macro snapper. On the front, they will be equipped with a 16MP selfie camera.

The duo will arrive with an in-screen fingerprint sensor, an IR blaster, and dual stereo speakers. 

As for the battery, the X6 will draw energy from a 5,100mAh unit and support 67W charging. Whereas, the X6 Pro will be backed by a larger 5,500mAh battery and support 90W charging.

3. Poco X6 Series Expected Price

Generally, Poco products are priced lower than the Redmi devices they are based on.

Since the Redmi Note 13 Pro starts at ₹25,999 in India, the Poco X6 will likely be cheaper than that. We don’t have an estimation on the global price as the said Redmi handset is yet to go official in international markets.

Similarly, we don’t know how much the Poco X6 Pro will cost. That’s because the original Redmi K70e is a China-exclusive smartphone.

The transparency of these MicroLED TVs is achieved through precision manufacturing processes that print Micro LED chips on a piece of glass, eliminating seams and refractions and giving the panel a glass-like appearance.

In terms of design, the TVs are incredibly thin, measuring about a centimeter in thickness, which enhances the illusion of a floating screen. Moreover, the high pixel density of micro LEDs ensures that the images displayed are exceptionally sharp and clear.

If you are not sure what MicroLED is, it’s a display technology that uses millions of tiny LEDs to create an image. Each LED is self-illuminating, which means that it doesn’t need a backlight like traditional LCD or OLED displays. Samsung’s Micro LED panels are not only transparent but also modular. This design allows users to combine multiple modules to create TVs of any desired aspect ratio, shape, or size. This flexibility is perfect for applications like giant scoreboards in homes and stadiums, as well as innovative advertisements in commercial use cases.

One of the key advantages of Samsung’s transparent MicroLED displays over transparent OLED panels is their higher brightness, making them less affected by ambient light. This feature is crucial in maintaining the clarity and visibility of the content displayed on the screen, regardless of the surrounding lighting conditions.

However, it’s important to note that, as of now, Samsung’s non-transparent MicroLED TVs are priced at $150,000 for a 110-inch model. This suggests that the new transparent Micro LED displays might also come with a hefty price tag, at least initially, making them a premium product that may not be immediately affordable for the average consumer.

Alongside the MicroLED TVs, Samsung has also unveiled their latest AI-based 4K and 8K 2024 Neo QLED TVs, S95D OLED TVs, and also updated Tizen OS.

Geely Auto CEO Jerry Gan emphasizes that the Galaxy E8 aims to capture the widest market share in the competitive EV segment, targeting mainstream plug-in hybrid and pure electric vehicle enthusiasts.

Under the hood, the Galaxy E8 offers diverse trims with multiple starting prices, featuring a high-performance silicon carbide electric drive system with dual motors generating 475 kW. The top-of-the-line version, based on an 800 V high-voltage platform, achieves a remarkable range of 180 kilometers on a five-minute charge and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.49 seconds.

Inside the cockpit, the Galaxy E8 incorporates cutting-edge technology, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip. Standard features include a large 45-inch screen with an 8K resolution, setting a new benchmark in China’s EV sector.

To further sweeten the deal, Geely Auto is offering discounts, option funds, and trade-in subsidies for customers placing orders before January 31. Deliveries have already commenced, with prominent figures like Yu Minhong, founder of New Oriental Education, becoming early adopters.

Geely Auto’s move into the mass-market EV segment is strategically timed, considering the growing demand for electric vehicles in China. Vivo G2 Appears On Google Play Console With Key Specs

Vivo is reportedly working on a new smartphone. It has surfaced on the Google Play Console certification website. The listing reveals key details of the device including its render and specifications. The Vivo smartphone carries model number PD2318 on Google Play Console and is listed as Vivo G2. It’s worth noting that Vivo does not have any G-series smartphones in its portfolio. The moniker of this device could also be different.

As mentioned earlier, the Vivo G2 is listed with model number PD2318. The render reveals a centre-aligned punch-hole cutout display and a slightly thicker chin. The back panel has a squarish camera module housing two sensors. It is seen in Blue color option. The design of the device looks similar to the Y78 (t1) and Y78m (t1).

As per the certification, the Vivo G2 is listed with a MediaTek MT6833 processor. It comprises of two Cortex-A76 at 2.2GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores ticking at 2GHz. There is Mali G57 GPU onboard. The chipset setup corresponds to the MediaTek Dimensity 700 which is now rebranded to Dimensity 6020. The upcoming offering will pack 6GB RAM onboard. It will ship with Android 13 OS out of the box. 

To recall, the Vivo Y78 (t1) and Y78m (t1) launched in China last October. Both phones are powered by the Dimensity 6020 which is expected to be equipped in the Vivo G2 as per the certification listing. We should learn more details about the Vivo G2 in the coming days.

It is an updated version of Smart Monitor M8 from 2023. The new model is more or less the same as its predecessor.

The M80D flaunts a 32-inch 4K (3840 x 2160 pixels) LCD panel. The screen supports HDR10+ standard like almost all display products (TVs and monitors) sold by Samsung.

The monitor houses dual speakers and a Samsung SlimFit camera is included with it. The device offers WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, in addition to USB Type-C ports

On the software front, it boots Tizen and supports all the leading content streaming platforms. The monitor also has Samsung Gaming Hub. Thus, cloud gaming is possible through services like Xbox Game Pass, NVIDIA GeForce Now, Amazon Luna, and others.

There’s also support for productivity tools like Microsoft 365 and Samsung DeX. It works seamlessly with Samsung Galaxy ecosystem products, such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, and Galaxy wireless earbuds.

Due to its feature set, the monitor is marketed as a replacement for PC. If you have a fast and uninterrupted internet connection, the Samsung Smart Monitor M80D does sound like a good deal for secondary purposes.

Contrary to expectations, the 5nm processor was not crafted by a Chinese company but was revealed to be manufactured by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC).

This revelation follows Huawei’s previous semiconductor developments, where the Mate 60 Pro smartphone boasted a 7nm system-on-chip reportedly manufactured by China’s Semiconductor Manufacturing International Co. (SMIC). However, the Kirin 9006C’s investigation has dispelled any notions of SMIC involvement, confirming TSMC as the processor’s manufacturer.

The geopolitical context adds complexity to Huawei’s semiconductor journey, as US export controls in 2020 severed Huawei’s access to TSMC around the time of the Kirin 9006C’s fabrication. Sanctions imposed on Chinese GPU vendors Biren and Moore Threads further exacerbated the challenges faced by Chinese semiconductor designers.

Despite these hurdles, Huawei’s technological triumphs, exemplified by the success of the Mate 60 smartphone in 2023, positioned the company as a standard-bearer for Chinese efforts to develop domestic alternatives to Western technologies. The Mate 60’s achievements propelled Huawei beyond the $100 billion revenue threshold, challenging Apple’s iPhone dominance in the Chinese market.
